*EVERY HOME ALONE REFERENCE* in Home Sweet Home Alone

home sweet home alone has 50 references from home alone and home alone 2 hiding in plain sight and the first one pops up within the first two minutes when max mercer has to pee because he drank too much soda which is just like the soda loving bedwetter fuller the most popular easter egg that's all over the internet is the mcalester home security sign outside the mercer's house that shows us kevin eventually decided to capitalize on his experience as a home security expert by opening up his own business complete with the home alone house logo once we're taken inside the mercer's home the scene is full of commotion just like the first home alone the mom is on the phone while her son begs for her attention and both kids are told to pick up their toys on the floor because someone stepped on them and got hurt to escape the commotion in the house max retreats to the garage where he sits inside the family's suv and watches looney tunes which is just like home alone 2 when kevin rides in the limo and watches the original grinch cartoon that was created by the looney tunes animator chuck jones in home alone we see thought bubbles when kevin recalled things people had said to him in the past and the thought bubbles show up again in home sweet home alone when jeff mckenzie is trying to recall max's name from an earlier conversation and when pam mckenzie fantasizes about all the people that depend on her and jeff to get the doll back max's family chaotically packs themselves into vehicles to rush off to the airport just like the macalesters do in the first two movies and home sweet home alone has its own jerk uncle blake to fill in for kevin's jerk uncle frank in one scene it's established that the mackenzie's fridge is full of milk which is a callback to when kate mcallister mentions everyone needs to drink milk before their trip so they can get rid of it the mckenzie's flubbed bell choir performance is similar to the mcallister's flubbed choir performance in home alone 2. and when max discovers he's home alone we see a montage of him doing crazy things like kevin did in the first film such as binging on junk food doing stunts down the stairs and being disgusted at his siblings personal belongings the mackenzie family watches a sci-fi remake of angels with filthy souls and soon after pam waxes nostalgic by remembering past christmases with her family while john williams's iconic score plays in the background which is just like home alone when kevin sadly reminisces about his christmas memories as he watches a family gathering from the street with the same music playing in the background max has an irrational fear of older people when he fantasizes about being force-fed gross candy by a bunch of old ladies which is similar to kevin's irrational fear of older people and both home alone and home alone too one of the most publicized references in this film is a cameo of kevin's older brother buzz who investigates the house alarm that went off at the mercer's home when the mackenzies first tried to break in and then later on when max's mom carol realizes her son is missing she reports it to the police to have someone go check on him just like kate did in the first movie coincidentally buzz is the one called in to investigate the house again but because he was just there and he believes this is a prank call from kevin he denies the distress call by saying i don't think so which we hear kevin use in home alone at the grocery store i don't think so and the scene ends with buzz calling his brother a trout sniffer just like he did in home alone 2 during his fake apology scene max walks by a church nativity and pauses to admire it while missing his family just like kevin does in home alone and both characters feel compelled to go inside where they hear a choir singing a holy night the mackenzies failed their second attempt to break into max's house because the street was too busy and then they decided to come back later which is just like what happened to harry and marv when kevin faked his house party while carol is trying to return home to max she causes a scene at an airport terminal just like kate did in the first film and carol's trip home is played for laughs when she sits next to an annoying screen staring neighbor which is similar to the comic relief of kate's trip with her less annoying and more charming travel buddy gus during the mackenzie's third failed attempt to break into the mercer's house they have a slippery fall down some icy stairs just like marv did in home alone and just like kevin max also uses a blueprint to set up his traps and the montage of him setting up the traps uses the same carol of the bell's tune that we heard during the montage in the first film to kick off the slapstick shenanigans max holds a gun in a power stance just like kevin does with his bb gun and as the mackenzies are driving up to max's house they skid on ice and run into a light post which feels like a callback to the statue at the mcallisters that always got knocked over and max celebrates his first victory with a fist pump saying yes just like kevin does after shooting harry and marv with his bb gun once the mackenzies get out of their car they slip on the icy driveway and do a classic home alone fall just like harry did on the icy steps at the mcallisters then when the mackenzie's attempt to get up on the driveway pam awkwardly tries to get her balance which looks very similar to marv trying to get his balance on the green slime in home alone 2. jeff gets tricked into eating some spicy cookies and dives head first into the snow which calls back to harry's head first dive into the snow to put out his flaming hair max throws exploding soda bottles at pam which feels like a loose reference to kevin's brick throwing from home alone 2. and harry's hair flame thrower incident is referenced once again when max sets pam's feet on fire instead of her hair max uses legos to cause pam pain in her bare feet which is just like kevin causing marv pain when he stepped on christmas ornaments in his bare feet and just like the iconic staircase scene when harry and marv get pain cans thrown at them max hurls baking ingredients over the banister at jeff and pam when max uses the treadmill to shoot exercise equipment at pam it calls back to the scene when harry has feathers blown onto a sticky face and then we hear max deliver this classic line given up yet or are you thirsty for more max leaves the house by making an escape from a second story window just like kevin's zipline escape from his attic window jeff gets a tooth knocked out on the side of his mouth which calls back to the gold tooth harry has on the side of his mouth that also gets knocked out pam's fall from the staircase looks just like marv's fall through the floor in home alone too and it wouldn't be a home alone movie without the classic hands on the cheeks pose which the mackenzie's nephew ali does near the end of the film and then max's mom arrives wearing a brown overcoat just like kevin's mom and they both kneel down to give their sons a big hug while john williams's iconic score plays in the
