I haven't watched the video yet, but I'm already cringing. I used to be a significant contributor to both the Amy Lee and Evanescence (and albums, songs, etc) pages. I'm only afraid to hear what they have to say given I know what I used to go through there. lol

Edit: *sigh of relief!*

I was expecting some cheesy fan conspiracy theory video, I'm glad I watched it and was proven wrong. That was a great video.

The only thing I would have wanted is maybe a few of the controversial topics like the split, etc. You know, straight from the primary source reflecting back on it after all these years, it would have been interesting.

hey this is a mealy and you're watching Loudwire hey everyone Graham from Loudwire here and it's Wikipedia fact or fiction time with swoon Amy Lee of Ephesus thank you so much for looking forward to this yes went through your Wikipedia okay Evanescence's Wikipedia the albums the songs pulled out some stuff that may be questionable mm-hmm you can confirm deny and elaborate if you choose love it all right Amy Lynne Lee yes that's fact okay did you get that wrong sometimes you're born in Riverside California that's true okay that's true they do get that wrong all right your father John who's here today it's right over there uh was a disc jockey and TV personality still is still is she's not dis track anymore but he still does voiceovers and TV commercials and stuff really anything that people would have seen there possibly I've heard his voice do voiceovers around New York several times since living oh I was up to call him be like ha it made it I heard it on TV yeah there it is all right all true so far yeah at age 11 it was your dream to become a classical composer yeah that's true super inspired by the movie Amadeus in fact sure probably more the showmanship than anything being able to brag my friends and like play piano really really really well was like did you do the thing where you like one under the piano about to say so I practice laying on the piano bench going upside down and nice playing whatever it was upside-down very dumb I'm glad there's no photos or videos about that you know you got that I know it said before coming up with the name Evanescence the band experimented with names like childish intentions yes and stricken right those are the two our fans are pretty good you know they're going on McGee and fixing it a lot of the time those are both true we went over a lot of different band name ideas I mean we're just playing like coffee shops every six months so okay so like who our weekly I don't know just make something up yeah whatever for sure uh you briefly attended Middle Tennessee State University in 2000 to study music theory and Composition but dropped out to focus on the band yep estas master you taste it I studied music too best thing to study music did you like school no no well I mean I there are parts of school that I liked I liked being able to go and really study music and have that be what I was there for and being able to have that be the focus because like in high school my favorite parts of that a choir and our you know and anything music or are related so so I did like parts of school yeah there you go cool I once signed Evanescence was relocated to Los Angeles given an apartment and rehearsal space and were enrolled in a gym and then you were given acting vocal and movement classes I don't know about movement and maybe nothing I took three vocal lessons from Seth Riggs very famous vocal coach I think work with like Michael Jackson and stuff really really cool he doesn't matter of his house um and the rest of that it's pretty much right on acting thing wasn't acting what I did was really cool and weird not cool nerdy very embarrassing you know have you musician you have been about say okay okay so it give up onstage super awkward right you're like why am I here I look like I I have to look like I belong here but you don't feel like you belong there it's like a whole confidence thing I had super stage fright so before that I would just stand in front of Mike stain with my eyes closed but they were like you can't do that you're gonna be like a real artist now so you need to like learn how to open your eyes and interact with the audience and that's just like the most terrifying thing so what it was was this acting coach who taught classes and stuff after his classes were done I would come in for a while like we did it for I don't know how many times but I come in and to an empty room like club size maybe okay and he would sit in the middle of the back or no I don't know where he was it just like in the middle of theater it's like looking right at me staring me I contact the whole time you know just be like go I don't have to like turn on our music that we were working on we were like in the studio or record our writing at the time turn on bring me to life whatever on a boombox and like act it out with no mic like just faking it pretending like the nerdiest thing possibly imagined but I had to like make eye contact with them is this like the movement class I guess that I think that's made up I don't know that is this was the acting yeah I've got a fiction yeah vadoma moving classes but yeah I was like I literally had to just like sing to him and like perform to him when and it's the most awkward thing ever and then one day I finally broke through it was like screw it and he was like there you go you did it that's what you needed to do and from then on it wasn't so bad doing it to a whole audience because you can always like move on to somebody else or whatever but the ability was there to connect so it helped totally I'd helped yeah cool I said wind-up records initially refused to release the Fallen album unless Evanescence would agree to add a full-time male co-vocalist when the band would not agree to this the label relented insisting that only a male vocalist would be featured on bring me to life you were not happy about it but agreed yes that's all it's all true exactly true that's all true that's a weird thing that they would to fight that fight hard in fact we had to leave that place in California say never mind I guess we're dropped and we're not doing anything Oh drive all the way back to Arkansas with tears on our eyes that it was not going to work out because refused to hold auditions and hire a rapper to join the band because that would be so awful and then when we got there I guess we called their bluff enough that they were like okay we have a movie opportunity we're gonna let you do your thing but you do have to have the rapper on the one song because they specifically asked for it I don't know where that came from so we said okay we'll take it wrap her in one song it worked out well it didn't work out I can't be mad about it now yeah what would bring me to life sounded like without the male vocalist that's the way we do alive I love it that way still yeah it would have still been one of your backup guys doing the male part in that way no we never wrote the male part that was something that we had at the label forces to create oh so was I had to write a new part and find somebody to sing it nacho say it oh yeah say yeah exactly I found a contradiction it said on various different pages that everybody's full may or may not have been written about Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera uh I start a named names like that's so finger pointy and weird then I was a kid at the time but it was definitely about that world like at that time all those pop stars were blowing up you know and it was like just look at my body look at it really hasn't changed too much has it you know if anything it's gone worse yeah you never think it's good man Wikipedia is doing pretty well they are they are yes I feel better about everything I thought there's gonna be full of mistakes it says in 2004 you worked on music for The Chronicles of Narnia but the music was rejected by the studio for being too dark yeah too dark Locker mosa was one of the songs so we put it on the open door that is pretty dark yes so was together again that's the song we really wrote for it then it was just this homeless song what I really love knows I will forget I will just finish it out anyway I make it a PSA that song look well thank you narnia for making me write basic you songs really uh this one I thought was like really funny and the anywhere but home live record a married couple filed a class-action lawsuit against Walmart for hearing the word [ __ ] spoken during your cover of corns thoughtless the lawsuit was resolved by a court order which would allow customers who bought the album at the Maryland Walmart to receive a refund if they wanted yes all true they went for a lawsuit so people could return it if they wanted to I I don't all you're a big complained and then it got resolved and I was like okay that's a whole class action lawsuit just like I'd like this to bring this I did not know this had a bad word on it shame on you sorry I apologize oh well any rights um no oh the open door the release date was originally meant to be March 2006 but was moved back to September because of Terry Balsamo stroke was a September or October I was thinking that the release date was like October 3rd I think it was late September could be wrong sorry it's been a minute oh yeah that's actually right we were we were doing a lot of things to kind of finish up the album but we did want to wait a little bit for Terry for tour and everything you know and I'm glad that we did it was a really cool moment for us as a band sweet uh it says the only one was originally called tuna afternoon yeah um if you listen the song that's at the beginning Toronto if singing in the Toronado even when we when we write I'm sitting there demoing out our ideas at the same time so yeah I made tuna noodle casserole that day so that's what I call the Pro Tools session okay so just stuck was that just the doc for today and you actually go like maybe we could call no no but the Masters all still had Senate of title so you know the big reels that they I've used to at least save and put in a vault and say okay these are the masters of the house it still says to an afternoon it does is brilliant it says the song my heart is broken was written after seeing victims of sex trafficking well I was working and inspired by not I would I should say working but like you know I'm helping a little bit but really inspired by a charity that does deal with sex trapped in called restore restore New York and I help them rebuild their lives the victims that have survived sex trapping there's a lot of women and boys nment who have been brought to New York this is a big hub for it it's all over the place but but yeah that was definitely an inspiration for that song mm-hmm absolutely well it was pretty much all right we're you know pretty much all right except for the movement lessons I don't have to go home and like start fixing it soon I guess not I was thinking okay I'm gonna have to go do some homework alone earlier but no I'm good oh thank you so much thank you and I appreciate it so much Amy Lee everybody [Music]
