okay ladies and gentlemen we are starting in six no even earlier in seven minutes seven minutes okay countdown for tv that means we start in five minutes with shooting [Music] so clear the premises [Music] ladies and gentlemen that are coming towards you okay good evening everyone this is your friendly co-host for the afternoon michael from denmark and on my left side is brian peterson from sweden and we will be your commentators for this afternoon for the team events yes the mixed team events events yeah the team makes students sorry and we'll be starting with yes that's going to be quite interesting this is actually the first time we're having a mixed team event officially at any large world archery championship it was tested in france i believe unofficially okay um just to see how it how it went so um but now is first time officially so that's that's quite exciting news yeah it is and we'll be starting with uh the bronze match between spain and france yeah they're actually quite big countries when it comes to traditional shooters they are indeed big countries in terms of uh traditional archery yeah we are waiting for for the ceremony to begin here um but maybe we should talk a little about the way that the event is going down yeah would you like to explain a little i will [Music] um thank you i just had someone screaming in my ear but uh um of course uh 3d archery is uh is shooting at well some of them life-sized animals made a phone the event will be like this that uh the ranges towards the animals are unknown and when they walk towards the the target the judge will put down a small stick and that's where the teams will be shooting from that's right um and in the uh mixed team events here one both teams will be shooting at the same time i believe it's a bit new for everyone here both teams will be shooting at the same time one archer from each nation yes they can choose um [Music] [Applause] they've been doing this for a long time but never as a mixed female men team no that's that's true and now we have the bronze medal match yes what we're starting with longbow mixed team and that goes between spain and france yeah and from spain we have encana gadiro lazaro and valentine fernandez alvarez and from france we have danielle ramos and robin gator very experienced archers all of them indeed and right now the judge is just explaining what to do they'll go forward towards the first animal which is foxes it's uh fox's yes yeah it's very small very small target it's a very small target now the the teams have to start uh guessing the distance to the target yeah france is starting the shoot again yeah daniela ramos is starting at the peg and at draw now and it's an eight yes and now france is shooting again robin goddard robin goddard it's a quick draw and it's a 10 maybe eleven maybe eleven yeah yeah yeah that's difficult to see yeah but at least ten so it's a good score yeah solid score from france yeah we have spain female don't you coming up she's very experienced she's very strong quite long draw it's an eight i would say it's on the line but it's an eight yeah yeah and actually and khan has been somewhat of a tv star in spain as well oh really yeah she was uh well i don't know what the event was but she was uh showing off her skills with the bow and that is probably an aide too yes it looks like both lines it's pending judgment now on um the metal matches here the arches themselves cannot go forward to to the animals to help with scoring which is what we do under the qualifying days it's only judges and officials at the animals now that's probably because they could they could be well getting getting a better view on on the distances uh that is probably the fact yeah you will also see here that the archers have kind of a small peg with a picture uh in right in front of them now that's a picture of the actual animal that they are going to shoot at and they can tell from the picture where the score zone is when they get forward it's not always you can see with the naked eye where the score stones are so the arches will often use their binoculars to sort of identify exactly where the 11 ring is and then they will guess the distance and decide how to shoot yeah yeah it's also notable now that the teams can switch places i mean take the spanish team as an example the females you can shoot first in one end and in the next end they can switch positions and male archer is shooting first that's a new one that is up to the team yeah now they're approaching the second target which is the ibex a bit of a longer range target yes larger animal but longer range and uh spain will be going first encounter using a very traditional longboard it is a bit heavy in the stock yeah and that is and oh i think it's a miss i could not see the arrow in the me neither he was that is a shame it was a miss [Applause] so we are not having a picture here no yes we are it's an age so spain is on eight points on the imax and we have uh francis ramos from france caging the distance now she's a very experienced lady extremely experienced archer with several international championship events in her bag yeah uh towards the two arches so that he can get a better picture of it trying to get his nerves count down a little and it's an eight so that's a good shooting and put strands quite comfortably in the lead but a lot of things can happen um yeah i can quickly turn around it can quickly turn around and although it's only four targets uh each team have two arrows which makes it a bit more different than the individual matches where you only have one arrow per target and you really cannot afford to make big mistakes on individual matches you can make a mistake here and and turn it around absolutely yeah well you know it's a mess can change quite a lot in the middle of a metal match now due to the cobit pandemic worldwide there is not much audience here but you can see the rest of the arches some still in competition some out of competition you can see a spanish flag in the spanish flags there that is augustine i believe and uh you see several uh yeah yeah he's he's running behind them yeah guillermo there agustin running around yeah he's cheering for that team that's good that's the way it should be he's he's very he's very quickly noticed okay so france is leading with 31 points against spain's 24. and the archers are now looking at the post where the picture of the animal is so that they can see the score zones before they approach where they're going to shoot from yes now we haven't talked about the time limit um it's 90 seconds isn't it i believe so 90 seconds for the team each team to shoot yeah they're two hours so do you think that they need to to practice before the matches uh with the time limit it's a little bit independent i would say um i actually witnessed a little bit of a rehearsal yesterday and yes some teams will will rehearse it some teams probably have done regular team matches before yeah and don't feel they need rehearsal you can see the blue packs here where they have to stand within one meter behind or to the side of it yeah spain is starting to shoot here yeah and kind of shooting at a it looks like taking a deep breath deep breath there that's it and that's a very good it looks like an 11. 10 or 11. that's a solid arrow yeah that's very very strong shooting yes it is you notice the french archer her her cap is just well yeah it's it's uh pins although she is famous for having pins all over her hat okay okay so it's sort of an image she collects it's a bit of a it's a bit of a big thing for archers at world championship to exchange pins yeah yeah yeah so most countries will have a new version of uh their national pnc and it's a fiber that's a high five here it's a five for france and goddard is walking up to the peg and adjusting his cap so it doesn't touch the string in full draw it's just an eight okay sorry um calculate the wrong ring yeah i think i think the the angle of the arrow coming made of cheated yes so that's a total of 44 friends versus 39 to spain but again in a mix match that is not something that cannot change in the on the last target it's five points it's five points is basically nothing so a miss from from the team that's in front is enough one more target and that is going to be coyotes i think they look quite small i'm not sure they're life-sized but um maybe you maybe you're you're better at that than me you're the hunter right yeah they are coyotes i would say or jackals i'm not quite sure i have to look at the list of the srt animals but they look quite small it looks like a coyote yeah but a very visible it's a it's a pretty small target i cannot really see how far away the pig they haven't put out the peg yet i think it's a small animal but but um it's it's a medium-sized animal yes and it's not that easy to hit no but the scores the score zone seems to be uh very visible so yeah yes that's a huge advantage uh interestingly i think they are going to be showing it a little bit of an angle yes from the side not very far but but with an angle it's it's it's a bit of a slope it makes the score sound somewhat smaller as soon as you add angles to it sure so um this is going to be very interesting to see yes again very well she's very concentrated you can look at her her face expression she's taking a deep breath concentrating very aggressive draw yes aggressive draw and that is an 8. good shot so daniela can actually shoot it for the sweat the french now yeah she is a very very good archer yeah and she just had to hit the target for them to win the bronze and it's and that's it it's for france yeah yeah five but that is enough and finish it off with a nice uh error and he does and he does a good eight so that is the bronx ghost to france congratulations very well done yeah well done well done friends there's there's just no mistaking the joy here no no no no that's just well over the moon [Music] all of these archers are extremely uh experienced and and have done this many times before so yes not exactly mixed in like we've talked about before that's a whole new branch no but individually they individually they've done a lot [Music] but still happy happy well done france we can talk a little bit about um where we are right now we are in in maribor pohja if i'm pronouncing it correctly in slovenia it is an absolutely beautiful place we're basically on top of a mountain this is quite a well-known place if you're interested in uh in alpine skiing because you will see a lot of skiing events coming from here that's true like that this is the place we're shooting in and it is absolutely beautiful surroundings yeah it is and it's actually in almost 1100 meters over the surface yes we are 1040 meters above sea level or about 3000 feet and now we have um the for the gold match yeah we have from austria we have uh franz hark and piate schoenberger and from italy paola sagetti and juliano falette [Music] italy interestingly enough the biati schoenberger the official speaker was talking i couldn't hear anything interesting enough that uh bertie schoenberger has only shot the longbow for one year and she's already doing the events like this i did not know that that is very very interesting i was talking to the austrians when they were doing the uh the semi-finals they said that yeah that is impressive it is it is um they are now approaching the foxes um yeah you'll see the pegs have probably been moved somewhat it looks to be very very close very close now uh very close tiger the austrians will shoot first and the time is on now and we have franz hark as if as the first shooter and piata is just behind him french hog is a very experienced archer very experienced archer yeah very fast shot and that's an 8 8 that's a good shot on that small target it is and actually even though it's not that far it's a very difficult target isn't it yeah it is um for those of you not familiar with how the scoring zones in 3d archery we'll just see how i'll look at the style that's a beautiful style and it's 10 possibly 11. yes you can see the scoring zones here the inner ring yields 11 points the next ring yields 10 points then we have a scoring zone that eats yields eight points and one that yields five is a hit on the animal anywhere and you can see when there's an asterisk that means it might be upgraded yes italy shot an eight and we have uh and that's [Applause] [Music] if i just finish off the scoring zones on the animals uh i hit anywhere on the animals except in hoofs or horns will yield a five point yes so we have five eight ten and eleven points or a miss zero points uh also a hit in the foundation of the animal something that's not really the animal uh but just part of the construction so to speak uh like a rocket sitting on or something like that that is not a scoring uh no that's something that's a mess yeah and if you can see at the score zones on this animal there's not not that much difference between the 11 you saw the foxes here also interesting they have a score zone on the back but that's not valid for for this particular occasion it's only the scoring zone on the side that will give points yes the scoring zone on the back will give five points regardless where the arrow sits there so that puts austria in the lead with 19 points versus italy's 16 yeah but as we were talking about it's nothing with three points in 3d archery uh three points is nothing nothing in in the mixed mixteam event absolutely not you can see that behind the arches there are people walking with bows as well that is true uh each team can have a coach along and you see that the italian coach there are carrying the arches bare bows in a match situation like this even if the arches bow breaks you do not get any extra time the only thing you can do is throw that bow away and get the repair bow from the coach my goodness there is no excuse if if don't have a spare bow long then well you are scoring this okay so um [Music] and we are now shooting can't see you really see it on screen but we're now shooting at the ibex yeah we have no clear picture it's a five 11 5 for italy yes eleven five we have a picture now we have a picture now okay and um austria is coming back in yeah the funds hawk is ah that's an eight that's a very instinctive uh very very instinctive very fast way of shooting shooting almost right that's snap shooting yes absolutely uh he will release the arrow almost at the very instant he comes to anchor yeah and you can probably see a lot of difference between friends hog and his you will see a lot of different styles here yeah you will see uh beyonce here's a bit slow but still pretty fast that's an eight that's strong shooting strong shooting and that still leaves austria three points in the lead yeah no change nothing changed we don't see that many one of the few i've seen yes it was a i think before it was a more common shooting styles you don't see them as much now i think we'll get the opportunity to talk a little bit more about that in the next class which is the instinctive class um but no even for longbow have longbow archan not really the ones known for holding the arrow at full draw for a very long time but but real snap shooting is not that good for italy no they're different styles they're very distinctive well franz hogg is one of the more distinctive ones because he's really really fast yeah yeah and he's uh he's he has a very aggressive style because his his bow arm is is pointing downwards very quickly after releasing the arrows in some instances that might be a help and particularly under stress situations if you can handle it but you also have to rely a lot uh on your feelings uh and your gut feeling basically and that gut feeling has is at least for me it would be very prone to change with uh the anxiety that comes from that of course of course so um being in a situation like this where you're in the final you don't you don't well no probably don't trust you when i see uh felitty shooting at the puma the cougar that was a lot longer drawing we don't have a picture i think it might have been a mess it's a mess sashetti on the line focusing and it's a five it's a five okay but that was here you see the austrian archer using uh the binoculars yeah just to determine where the scores on this puts it back on the hook and the belt yeah it's it's a fair bit of distance to to the cougar here it's quite long yes my goodness she's so fast shooting why goodness he hits the animal yeah it is you really have to focus to well to see when he shoots it because he's so this is what we uh expect robin hood to shoot like i mean honestly this is what we expect to shoot like really really fast and just yeah letting your instincts guide it my goodness and that was a 10 extremely good shot very good shot so that means austria is in the lead with 50 versus italy 37 before the final target that might be a bit difficult to um catch up to yes you can austria can sort of shoot for safety on this and still still maintain the gold right yes um well basically austria has to have one animal and one arrow in the animal now then they're up to 55 points no that's not enough they need a little more two hits and uh the goal is there's 50 points and i get the last the jackals yeah it's going to be the the coyotes yeah both italy and and austria are very big nations in archery yes almost whatever class we're talking about longbow instinctive barebow or compound they are very very strong objects yeah and austria and italy also known to have many 3d courses that they have extremely many uh tricky uh 3d courses i know the fact that some parts of the danish team was down practicing yes that means that society has to shoot at least an eight uh in order to stay in the match and then hopefully to lose both errors and it's a five so austria has already taken the gold here yeah you already have ah that is robin hood and it's an eight it's a good shot yeah she's smiling she knows it's uh she's smiling she knows it's all over she just wants to make a good arrow now and and uh to finish off and with the class i just just look at the style there and it's a 10 what a way to finish that what a way to finish that end congratulations austria that was that was well done yes congratulations and of course the same goes to italy they've they've done well to get they've done very well to get this far yeah we should remember that in mixed team events this year only the four best teams uh proceed to uh semi-final and final there are no uh shoot-offs between teams before that it's the qualifying the first two qualifying days individual qualifying days that uh make up and decide which teams have the highest scores and the four highest scoring teams in each class go on to semi-final and then bronze and gold medal matches like we are experiencing now that was uh wonderful to see the longbow that leaves us finished with the longbow class and we have the audrey and arches here they are extremely excited about their victory here without kisses yeah and well deserved with the flag yeah very well deserved austria [Music] [Applause] this means that we are moving on to instinctive class mixed team yes we are just enjoying this this snap shooting style here versus fallet is extremely long hold he's a bit more of an aimer very careful [Music] [Music] in please a minute we'll have the medals uh ceremony and um the battles will be presented by rosemonic project manager of 3d ukraine championships [Music] [Music] the medal ceremony will be held right now and comes as a bit of a surprise for some of the archers who are quick to take off their gear and uh get ready to climb up on the podium yeah maybe they were on their way to the shooting ranger i don't know either there is no they are very excited but everything moves very fast just look at the happy faces on the arches no flags on the podium uh i'm not actually sure why it's uh no i have no idea let's enjoy the ceremony [Music] [Applause] these arches will be historic and be the first mixed team yeah that's true in world archery history officially and of course having rams medal is from france daniel ramos and robin garden [Music] second place [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] yeah they want to get up there yeah i understand why [Applause] and suddenly i notice i understand why is wearing a hat the same reason i'm wearing a hat probably and the national anthem of austria [Music] you [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] yes congratulations to all six arches very well done very well deserved and uh hopefully we will see many more mixed team events at the international i think it's uh it's it's a it's a good thing to have the mix i think it's a good team to look at too for audience uh it's it's uh interesting and it's a little bit it's no i think it will uh it will be a winner we'll and now we are going to proceed with the instinctive mixed teams yes and um that's going to be very interesting i think um the bronx match will be first will be between italy and austria slovenia beat italy in the semi-final and denmark one over austria and for the italian team we have michaela donati uh shooting and we have fabio petaluga shooting fabio is one of the most experienced if the not if not the most experienced totally archer instinctive archer in in europe he has several international championship medals in his bag [Music] extremely calm archer extremely stable and on the austrian side we had klaus greenstein who who is um arched at that uh fabio is currently ranked second in the instinctive class from the qualification days and from austria we have klaus quinstein who is ranked third and we have um cardin nova novi sorry kai nobi uh who is ranked second in the instinctive woman so extremely strong teams i think we can expect some awesome shooting here yeah i think uh was also a medal winner at the last european championships in sweden uh yes i think you're right uh ladies and gentlemen like i said we're going to see some very very good shooting these are all strong strong contenders italy will be shooting target 1 which is the left target austria will be shooting target two [Music] [Applause] number two of austrian [Music] [Applause] grinch title actually during the qualification days uh did the highest overall score on day two with the um staggering 468 points 48 arrows completely amazing i actually think it was 488 468. and fabio was not long far behind it was 460. some absolutely amazing and almost crazy scores were done there yeah my goodness i would be very satisfied if i could get that high all right i think many beverages would be very happy to get that high yes i can honestly have i've never ever seen scores that high instinctive class no we will now have uh fabio peter luga from italy shooting first looking at the target getting distance and knocking an error and here we can see the big difference between the longbow and the institute class that's instinctive classes wouldn't handle but with well mostly carbon limbs that's right and it's a ten yeah like a very strong archer that's right uh the handle section on the instinctive clasp both have to mate from a natural material uh that can be more than just wood but it has to contain some part of wood yeah and they're shooting they're not shooting uh that was unfortunately a miss i yeah but they're they're shooting carbon arrows as opposed to longbow class we are shooting carbon hours we can shoot any areas we want we can also use plastic veins instead of instead of natural uh turkey feathers um and uh the construction can be three part take down if uh wanted klaus green style now shooting for austria and it's an 11 awesome shot awesome shot carly novi yeah very experienced very experienced archer i believe actually the reigning world champion and it's a fiver that puts austria in the lead sixteen to ten [Music] what is similar between the longbow class and the instinctive class is that you cannot have any sights on the bow you also cannot use the technique that we call string climbing which is where you place your draw fingers uh a bit below the arrow you have to hold your index fingers right below the arrow or you shoot split finger where you have the arrow in between your index finger and your next yeah there are very special rules about how very specific rules about that you need to have uh one anchor point which is the place on your face where your right hand for a right-handed archer comes back to hold uh has to be a one constant place for uh both longbow and instinctive yeah um and you cannot string climb you cannot we'll get more into that technique when we get to the barebow class but uh like we talked about before the instinctive class is the second um least advanced the second most primitive class we can find along both the most primitive you allow a few more things when it comes to instinctive um and then you add more stuff in verbo that we will get to later as you can see if we look at the bowlines that there's quite a big difference between the bowling's in regards to how much recurve there is on the bowlines that's right uh fabio is shooting a border bow with the with their i believe their cb9 limbs extreme recurve yes my god that's supposed to um give some advantages in terms of speed and um also smoothness of draw yes we'll see we'll see fabio should he look at his style it's absolutely so elegant and it's a 10 it's a very good shot on the ibex yes and because of his bow being made bolen has been made by that is shooting now it's an eight strong it's almost like doing a compound shoot because you have a sort of a it feels like a let off yeah yeah some people say it's a little i don't really agree it's a lit off but it it rarely increases in strength uh the further you go back yes you can see the on you see the limb tips on klaus's bow here it's a bit more traditional yeah he's probably shooting you calims and um and it's an 11. my god that is strong shooting i don't know what range they are at there but i would say they're probably at 25 or something like that yeah so karen novi caring nobody approaching my goodness it's good shooting that is awesome you will also probably notice a difference in in anchor point like we talked about before between longbow and distinctive class that instinctive typically modern instinct to class arches will typically anchor much higher on their face and have the arrow much closer to their eye which gives them an advantage it's a lot easier to aim yeah and therefore you will see more longbow archers shooting what we call instinctively like looking at the target and just uh shooting with you with your gut feeling and you will see more instinctive class arches although the name is called instinctive you'll see more instinctive class archers actually gap shooting which is aiming just a little bit below using the tip of the arrow to aim with yes and we'll see the big difference between that way of doing things that want to get to the babel where you have the string walking and you you change the angle of the bow in regards to where you are at the distance of vienna yes yes it probably looks a bit strange for people that are not used to seeing archery but uh i think the the difference will be apparent when we get to uh but we'll try to remember to talk a little bit about that i think yeah however uh right now austria is in the lead 37 uh towards uh versus italy's 28. so that's a solid lead it is it is uh but like we talked about before it's uh there are two targets left and that's not at all impossible to uh to gain back no but but still we haven't seen austria at all being they don't seem like being they are nervous or anything now they have a 37 on uh on four arrows now that's an average well above nine uh so that's really really awesome you'll also see now that italy is shooting first again now um the leading team actually i believe decides who shoots first okay so they have given it to uh italy there might be a psychological advantage to having the lowest ranking team shoot first yeah of course fabio coming to full draw and eleven awesome shooting and [Applause] now using his binos to just check where the score zone is [Applause] [Music] cougar yeah he's shooting absolutely magnificent yeah carly nobody and attendance [Applause] klaus has an extremely high anchor yes i don't know if you noticed it but he's anchoring sort of not below his eye but but to the right of his eye so he's height wise he does not have to aim much below and he may even have to be able to aim exactly where he's his arrow he wants his arrow to go so he's shooting directly at the target instead he may be depending on the distance but you cannot have uh same point of impact at 10 meters 20 meters and 30 meters are not possible because the arrow has a trajectory yes um it's awful well it's an interesting technique it is i haven't seen it before he's really high on his anchor i've seen a few are just trying to get the anger all the way up to there but very few do it well yeah i can't get mine up to that there's no way i've been talking to one of the instinctive archers at the danish team and he was he was well sort of experiencing a little bit with uh having a high anchor but uh well it was it was difficult for him because he wanted to have well not as much um just lost my tongue there he want he wanted to to reduce his uh his gap his gap yeah but if you have a if you have a very very fast setup a fast flying arrow then it's an advantage to have as high as an anchor as possible okay now we'll see fabio uh entering preparing to shoot the last target here which is the jackals that's a quite a pretty distance i'm guessing 20 meters or something from here and it's an eight very close to the ten line but it's probably an eight solid that's a solid shot in very solid shot michaela and 11 strong strong finish from italy 68 so a little bit of pressure put on austria at the final end fives and we'll have a shootout two five and we'll have a shoot off or one 110 enemies and that's not impossible yep klaus bracing himself and it's attempting so yes hit the animal and the victory goes to austria and it's a hit [Applause] [Music] [Applause] yes and congratulations to this well getting to the absolutely like i said before they are magnificent archers and i have the biggest respect for both of them there there are no bad arches down here it's absolutely not and i am pretty sure we'll see uh more of these people in the following days in both team and individual events fabio is actually directly qualified to semi-final in the instinctive class individually okay so he has he hasn't shot his last ironman look at the style yeah hi beautiful study of how good release good release strong back tension [Music] she's solid very [Music] that means that we are moving on to the yes of course we're approaching the gold medal match and we could just see the danish flag in the background of course that's fine i understand why you are excited to see what's happening of course i'm a bit excited about that we have from the danish team frank christensen and ricker halton frank is a very experienced archer frank is actually the reigning european champion he is individually but interestingly enough is doing her first international event oh really yeah yes yes and she shot magnificently in the semi-finals almost doing eight in the average eight which is uh magnificent yeah she is uh ranking 10 in the uh qualification rounds yes so that that's good that's very good for you for slovenia we have uh moicha pavatic and christian horvath yes um is ranked six individually and uh christian is ranked 14 in the qualifications so uh both of them will be shooting on individually after this we should also mention frank here his ranking is currently four in the individuals [Music] after two days of qualification yeah so i think we're going to see some very good and strong shooting here too yes frank has a very distinctive style when he's shooting it seems like sometimes he's have a having a bad release but because his hand is very high when he's releasing but uh he's uh he's a really instinctive shooter he is he is one of the few uh archers in this class that actually shoot instinctively yes fabio also to a certain degree i believe is uh shooting attentively and here we have slovenia coming on to the course yeah damian howard [Applause] yes frank christensen is uh well he's uh he's very known for doing very well on the pressure of actually he's doing better when he's pressured he's very very solid frank is always shooting well and um but we're gonna see they're all great archers here and i think we can experience some uh awesome shooting in this but it's gonna be hard to beat the bronze medal match uh in terms of elevens but they don't have to if this this match is individual so anything can happen yeah anything can happen and one thing that you have to know is that everyone might look unaffected in a situation like this but i can promise you that there are no arches depending on an international final field and not feeling the nerves frank shooting here and it's an 11. my goodness that was a strong start that is a strong start like it comes to the stand she's just eyeing the target with the binoculars that's a very good start an interesting story about the reiki is that when she was doing the first day of individual shooting she had to uh have her glove sewn together because uh the judges thought that she was she was doing uh well one finger under and two things two fingers under very fast shooting and my just shoots and eleven it looks ten or eleven i'm not sure about that one i think it might be upgraded to an eleven i was downgraded to ten but uh christian horvath and it's it's very close yes it is one point advantage to denmark it's very close it's very close um that's the way we like it yes as it has to be in the gold medal yeah i think we're going to see more of all these all of these arches in the next couple of days so sure large flags in the background the slovenian flag and the danish being the home nation for this championship frank waving to the public obviously it's extra funny to see them on the on the final field frank is just like joining him so he's smiling and laughing frank loves shooting finals yes that's the best thing he knows i actually share in the part with him here at the event he's uh he's just full of full of energy all the time and now you'll see what i talked about before the the lower ranking uh team will now often shoot first that is slovenia in this case yes judge explaining that slovenian team shoots first and danish team shield second the arch is looking at the ibex with the binoculars to make sure that where this scores on us yeah it's in it's a semi-long shot not at max distance max distance we might talk about that the distance can vary from five to thirty meters for instinctive longbow and barebow class for compound it goes all the way out to 45 meters fast shot and it's a five that was um i bet she's happy it says in the animal yes it's it seemed like she was shooting very fast yeah yeah and christian or about this is a chance for denmark to uh knowing frank christensen he will he'll probably put a good arrow in the animal right now we'll see but it's a chance for them right yes it is frank is actually shooting a riser the the handle section of his bow is from slovenia he shoots an eight it's an agent yeah he's shooting the minx he's shooting a mince riser from slovenia so that's a bow that's come home i'm quite sure that is using ooka lims and frank as well that threw everything around a little bit that changed things a bit slovenia now in the lead with 28 to 27. [Music] however what point they have two two animals left there are uh now the cougars and the coyotes left yes now we should probably see denmark shooting first again yep denmark will start shooting the third target yeah we will see if if uh like it can get over her miss on on the ibex is it it can be quite difficult not it can be difficult to shake off absolutely but that's what you have to do in situations like this you have to sort of you cannot take back that arrow have to let it go and uh be determined about the next one shoot one arrow at a time not four but it is easy to it's easy to talk if you just sit here and talk about it a bit more difficult to do in real life absolutely yeah frank approaching the target now denmark shooting first again since it's now the lower ranking team deep concentration from frank that's a good day my goodness he's good he's so cold he's cold yeah but it's like we said frank is one of the guys that absolutely love uh shooting uh uh uh finals and matches yeah we were talking about he's just like an old circus horse smelling at the sawdust yeah that puts a little bit of pressure on to slovenia yes they have to have two tents approaching she's shooting a border i think border riser okay that's it you got shooting you don't see that many border rises around i think we see yeah i know on the country i say we see a lot of border races uh christian a little bit shaky um and it's a 10. i'll shake your 10 is still a 10. not that not that shaky no so definitely this is all going to come down to the last target yes and of course it's our good friends the jackals it's a it's a very difficult time yeah quite small and as you said standing on an angle yeah and in in the shade now so they have that does not make things easier no no they're standing in the sun and they have to shoot into the shade so it's it's difficult it also kind of makes uh guessing the distance uh a bit more difficult yes you have a tendency to shoot short or when you're standing in the light and shooting in through the darkness yeah yeah i'm sort of starting to second-guess myself whether i shoot short or long but i'm at least i can say that i have difficulties with shooting short when i shoot from from the light into the dark yeah and they always have those uh targets when you get out to two competitions where you have to stand in the light and shooting into into the darkness probably animals standing under branches so that they're dark we actually have i don't know what what distance they're right here but um 17 18 yeah somewhere between 15 and 18 meters i think yeah that's the thing about 3d archery uh you don't know what range you're shooting at you have a range span like we said for this this class it's 5 to 30 meters 5 meters minimum 30 meters maximum and look at that she's shooting one finger over and two fingers he's shooting split finger yes yeah and that was a high five yes and also she has she shoots a little bit like or very much like the longbow archer shoot it's a split finger and a rather low anchor so she's shooting more as indicatively yeah christian's climbing up a little higher so i can't really it's difficult it's a good arrow yeah so 59 points for slovenia and we have the danes before the last two arrows and the hatch comes off for for frank now to win she looks very calm yeah she does she's a cool customer but now here comes that extra breath of air to keep your nerves calm [Applause] maybe we'll have a large pier tonight celebrating the danish gold medal no we won't no we won't because alcohol is on the doping list yes this event so uh there will be no alcohol on but you can use beer with no alcohol but you can imagine having a beer that's okay i know that the swedes are used to drinking beer without alcohol so it can be done congratulations to the danish team frank christensen and mega hulk and of course a big congratulations to slovenia as well very well done frank christensen is uh well he's smiling of course he's smiling yeah of course he's smiling why wouldn't he be smiling look at look at the calmness huh waving to the audience when he releases yes it's very strange he does that it's not classically the way it should look but it works for him i know firsthand how well he shoots so don't change it if it ain't i'm not i'm not gonna criticize the guy that's used that well no no no no no no [Music] it's a bit different kind of anchoring he has because he draws low and then gets up his anger yes each archer in his own uh the way the way they kind of get into anchor i have a different way of getting into anchor that other people find interesting and okay not really classic right well i've actually never seen you shoot brian even though we're both danes but you you you compete with the switch i uh live in sweden i have sansa for for 20 years so i shoot for sweden yeah yeah um but uh now we're moving on to the medal ceremony yes for the instinctive mix team yeah we have uh for austria carden novi and klaus green style with the bronze and the silver medal for slovenia moisha powertich and christian hobart and of course from denmark the gold medal winners frank christensen and vega holton yeah yes i think i think i think we'll be uh up late tonight in the danish at the danish team it's well deserved absolutely yes it's also interesting when you look at the individual ranking for the danish instinctive gentleman that you have two archers amongst the top five yes that's true we have a small nation like denmark that's very very strong yes but we we've actually had that for several years because uh frank christensen and the other guys see brunt is uh well they're very good and frank is the reigning european champion and secret is uh a former world champion yeah so yeah no they are they're very strong absolutely and we've actually we have a new we have a newcomer as well in the instinctive class who's done quite well as well so should i stand for the national anthem i am danish you may stand for the uh but we i think we have to uh probably um uh [Music] sit down and keep an eye on the screen so we may have to to deviate from the normal protocol in order to do our job here and i usually sing as well when there's a national anthem i will refrain from that we thank you a lot for that because the danish anthem is [Applause] yes [Music] second place [Music] [Applause] well-deserved silver medals and obviously extremely popular in yeah i was i was actually beaten very severely by a slovenian on the first day uh in bayabo competition okay too bad for you but happy for swimming champions frank christensen and reggae halton from denmark big cheers from denmark frank already the reigning individual european champion for instinct to bow men and reika on her first international championship a gold medal recipient ah that's amazing that's amazing you don't see that a lot no no no no [Music] i know that frank will be singing very late in the evening yes but he doesn't sing well i know but he's entertaining and actually we might want to mention this actually guess whose birthday it is today i know it's frank's frank's birthday today so that's some birthday present it is and we were singing and cheering for him at the uh at the lunch today yeah i sang for him this morning but um the national anthem of denmark there is a beautiful country directly translated from danish to english [Music] that's a beautiful sight the oldest national in the world actually yeah it is yeah interesting story more than 800 years yes but we're not going to pull that now i think yeah no we're not no we're not no but what a birthday present for frank but you have to be careful because i was just about to tell the story i'm a history teacher [Music] big cheers for the winners and pictures for the metal uh recipients as well it's absolutely well deserved we there are amazing archers on the podium and also italy on the fourth place yes yes um extremely competent arches so frank is almost dancing on the podium as always as always it's a cheerful guy yeah he is you never bought around him no no no [Music] and i know what the first thing he will do when he comes up to uh the hotel don't know what i'm doing he will be calling his wife ah yes okay you could tell me that i was i was expecting something else no he's he's he's always he's always calling his wife to tell her i did this and we went we did well and ah big cheers of frankie victor frank [Applause] birthday boy and gold gold medal winner that's not uh not too bad a birthday no it is now we are moving on to the next event which is uh barebow that's still that's that's more like it if you if you ask me because i'm a bear boss youtuber you're a barber watcher i am i am and uh of course we have in uh in the bronze medal uh match we have russia against austria again no no we have austria we have australian versus the bronze medal match yes that's true so if i'm not otherwise i'm gonna get fired from this job [Music] yes austria versus spain and for austria we have uh ulrike steinwander and alois steinwander [Music] he is um he's a world champion but not the reigning world champion [Music] very solid shooter oh that's not the that's not the right one he's magnificent he's magnificent bring us his uh rank one in the qualification day individually yeah barebone man and uh alois uh steinbender is ranked five he actually beat me with a hundred points on the first day of shooting yes i think so he has a he has a total of um he has a total of 927 points over two days that's an amazing score by any standard and um cassandra is pranking she is ranking nine uh on the individual ranking cassandra campoteles and steinwender uh ranking fourth in the individual events so cesar bringers is uh preparing for to shoot the foxes as the first target and of course now we're talking barebow where you can you can see what he's doing there he's sort of uh using his tap to find the point below you can see he's holding way below the arrow yes that means he can aim with the tip of his arrow regardless of the distance and it's so it cannot be a better level my goodness that had it been indoor it had been it would have been a spider as they called it yeah that's amazing that's and someone called it inside out if it's on a target face yeah everything is inside and they of course they uh they string walk to get to get the right angle cassandra is their string yes cassandra shoots an eight strong starts for spain wow now our luis is uh preparing to shoot for austria guessing the distance he's and another thing that is special about babo is that the rises the handlers are now made of metal uh the handrail in barebow can be made of metal you can also see that they can add weights on the outside yes that's an eight um there are specific rules to how big these weights can be because everything has to fit within a ring of 12.7 centimeters yeah that's true that's true the string not counted yes and they actually do technical controls before we have technical controls on the beginning of these events every bow has to pass rik is shooting now so that puts spain in the lead with 19 versus austria's 16. freaking three points below but still a very solid start oh yes that's three targets left six arrows for each team absolutely not impossible to take control of that [Music] very very tall man vera bringers he has a very long draw on the draw length of his boat but alois steinweiner is not exactly a dwarf either no no no he's uh compared to me he's he's a giant and they're eyeing the ibexes wait waiting for the judges to show them where to shoot from scoring don arrows can be drawn yeah spain cheering in the background yes the spanish flag is uh being waved up there and the rest of the team are waving towards the beginning like we said due to the pandemic there is not a huge crowd here because it's simply not allowed we are supposed to be in what we call a bubble so not a lot of other people are yes coming into the championship area yes and you could also see that with the metal ceremony that they they couldn't have anyone giving them the medal no no they're still uh strict pandemic rules testing themselves yes sure testing going on for people that do not have a vaccine austria shooting first on the other hand is uh going to shoot gauges the distance yeah taps like i said he taps down to the appropriate point under moves it tap there and then he's ready and aims and aims with the with the tip of the arrow yeah solid and it's a solid solid 10. [Applause] we will we may be wrong but in that case it will be upgraded it's a bit difficult uh difficult to see sometimes especially on the screen that we have in front of us yes [Applause] so when i bring us eyeing the target yeah trying to to measure the distances with his eyes and yeah you can see he's using his his tap to saying oh well this is the difference i'll hold here and he'll just make the shot you kind of have to use all of your senses and all your tricks to guess the distance because when you aim point on you you have to be more or less spot on with the distance and it's attacking i actually sometimes when i'm shooting competition use my my ears as well to to listen to to how f how how long it takes for the uh the competition error to to hit the target that's right you you can get sort of a rough idea that way yep absolutely and for spain uh cassandra's shooting shoots very fast it's a five so that means that it is level now if that score stands but we have doubts about that eight yes pretty sure that's going to be upgraded to 10 for australia that should be an asterisk and at the end because i'm quite sure it's the line but that will uh the judges have come up to the targets and we will um see if that happens otherwise the score is right now 34 34 but like we said that might change once the judges have done the final scoring i just i couldn't just hear what you said because someone was screaming in my ear but yeah and we can see at uh at the screen that italy beat austria in the semi-finals and russia beat spain and that's was their road to to the final um so what we're witnessing now is if we haven't said it before it's the bronx match between spain and austria and the crowd is cheering that might be because uh that arrow was deemed to be attacked the austrian crowd yeah the austrians are waving [Applause] it's a very beautiful area we're in it's absolutely magnificent for us as danes at this time of year coming down to these kinds of temperatures are amazing it's just like i talked to i talked to friends before i uh went down here and they said that slovenia was without a doubt the most beautiful country they had ever visited i've heard that as well it's absolutely magnificent and you there's no way we can show that to you now but uh the view from the top of the mountain here over the valley and over maribor is oh so breathtaking that you almost get tears in your eyes when you think about it before going down here i was actually sort of trying to find out when i see uh using his binos to uh so you see exactly where the scoring zone is on the on the kyogas are now standing in in shadow um the sun has interestingly moved it used to do that down there but now the cubers are in shadow and the arches are standing in the sun so it's it's a little bit more challenging for them to range the distance and also the shooting itself can be more difficult good shot yeah very good it's very difficult to see the scoring when it's endless in the shade it's very difficult cassandra tapping down it's very beautiful color that writes it but i'm quite sure that the boys will laugh at me if i was shooting that color at the competition it takes a man yeah it does and it's another temperature it's a beautiful shot oh my goodness they're very it's a little bit pressure back in austria always what you can see what he's doing is with his hand right now he's sort of um he's trying to measure the distance with his hand yeah he's he's measure is maybe a big word but he's trying to guess the distance yes and sort of going from that spot of grass to that was fun is yes seven meters and from that one to the next one is eight meters and sort of adding everything together the first shot it's a test it's very difficult to measure out the distance when you have nothing in the background to to sort of help you that can be one of the the most difficult places to guess distance is like on a flat football field you have golf course or something yeah yeah nothing to to compare if you're in the woods you can use trees and yes variations in the landscape shooting now [Applause] it's a 10 11 yeah it's uh oh awesome shooting oh only two points difference that is fabulous shooting yeah but let's remember we are seeing some of the world's absolutely best purple watches right now so yeah that's true so i don't know why we're surprised but no absolutely true because because the european bamboo shooters are not all the european top parts but also world class absolutely and i know that the americans wouldn't differ but the europeans are world-class yeah yeah although it's european championship we have many of the world's best archers are coming from europe yeah that's true that's true and especially in the barebow division the competition in europe is so it's fierce and of course from sweden you have uh a newcomer well not completely newcomer but he's only 18 years old he's uh 18 years old i think actually he turned 1718 last week he is does he drive uh he's his talent and um we're rooting for him in the future yes yes i've been talking to him but that's one of the great things about about the 3d archery now there's a picture of leo patterson 18 years old standing he's the youngest participant here yes and he's standing next to the oldest he's 68 years old yes that's 50 years of different age differences between and they are competing on the same level on the same championship yes now tell me any other sport we can do that chess chess maybe yes it's not many but not many 68 year olds that are doing very well now we're on the final target this is the uh our friends the coyotes and csi is uh shooting white limbs yeah he's shooting height limbs yes that is a magnificent you can talk about handling pressure well yes so cassandra will she be doing the same thing will she be doing handling her the pressure and keeping her nerves down shooting i think she had a good trainer her boyfriend is uh also doing very well in baeboe division yeah okay garcia i did not know that now we have alois steinvent from austria it's going to be tight it can be done or you can take this but they have to shoot well performing that way under high pressure that's it's truly impressive but then again some of the world's best archers not yes austria has to shoot an eight yes for the win [Music] [Applause] very it's not necessarily that reiki couldn't handle the pressure it can also be a matter of guessing the distance wrong and tabbing down wrong spring climbing yes you know you only need one you only need one of all those in stages but well done impressive shooting from both teams congratulations to spain the smiles are on their faces even though they lost but that's just the way it is they they've shot well they did but congratulations to spain for that spanish dancing out in spain congratulations [Music] that means that we will be moving on to the gold medal match for barebow mixed team yes and also very we have a very strong russia against italy russia against italy for russia shooting is julia blunter um absolutely did not have my papers in working order right now barebow women here she is currently ranking seven uh sorry second in the uh individual ranking and [Music] buddhia vitali vitali budiak who is ranking fourth in barber men so that's a very very strong team it is it is and of course but on the italian side we have an old uh well not old she's not all she's very young compared to me but she's been she's been doing this for a long time yeah and uh cynthia knows absolutely it's difficult to um she's an absolute absolute world-class artist one of the absolute top contenders for anything she's ranking number one in the barebow women's division after yeah she has uh well not that big actually at total of 829 uh points for two days for around 822. so it's tight in the top two extremely good female archers yes and on the male side yes i know him for italy alessandro so we are talking absolutely top contenders here but interestingly enough alessandro he's well this is his first uh competition in european championships okay he's never done outside italy before i was uh i was in the in the first group with him on monday and he was just amazingly calm he's shooting [Applause] so ladies and gentlemen if you thought that you were watching uh that the last match was a good one i think we can expect a match at least as this is this is probably well i was i was enjoying the danes winning but this is probably for me as a babel shooter the most uh exciting match of all today because they are top contenders they're contenders yeah i actually met cincinnati also also on the world scene yes i met i met cincinnati at our hotel where we we eat the buffet at the same place and i was star strapped yeah she was um but she's an amazingly um calm and uh well she's she's just a nice person yeah yeah yeah yeah but not just generally sure sure so we have uh the russians starting julia blanter and they're shooting at the foxes again the blue pig has been moved back and forth yes now but yeah it will so she's doing her string walk she already knows in her mind what the distance is yeah are you sure to win and win limbs those are also very good limbs it's good shooting and they they shoot spin veins which is they use some kind of spin wing range yes there are several brands sure and cincinnati eyeing her string knowing in her mind the distance deep concentration and it's an 11 it's an 11. my goodness she's solid she is that is amazing and now the definition of solid on the back now we have alessandro [Music] yes he's not someone you've seen a lot before italy is absolutely also one of the strongest nations in the world when it comes to barebow archery no doubt about it and actually he told me yesterday i was shooting with him monday he told me he'd never had a coach even more impressive natural talent yes i wish i was like that yeah italy italy was first after the qualification round and they were too strong in the semifinals for austria and a bit of a shy person but but yeah okay no i i haven't had the chance to talk to him uh he's we have a tendency to stay within our own class and that's the people we know best although we are not afraid to talk to other people but you know yeah i was i was not doing very well at the competition so i'm i'm already out of the competition so i have the chance to go around talking to people yeah that's a big adventure i enjoy that i enjoy that this is but that's the thing about these events i mean even if you're out of competition you still uh stay around and support the rest of your team and do whatever you can to help them of course so it's an individual sport but you do it as a team yeah but you get to know people because you you go around with uh with people from with archers from other countries so we're now shooting the ibex yes again and uh i think it's from from here what is that we can't talk so loud that they can hear us but i think it's i would say 28. yes something like that almost almost at maximum for the class now you can see this is very interesting uh the sun is uh falling now and it's actually allowed for uh team members to shade the face yes of the art of shooting using uh that's a high five a maximum of an a4 page uh paper that that's the size you can shade with so that's actually allowed yeah she shot a five yeah uh julia blanton shot five yes now vitali is shooting it's it's also because it's it's very difficult to shoot uh just to shoot without if you have the sun in your eyes you can see the shade coming into his uh his eyes therefore oh wow it's close to the 11 rings that might be a subject to uh judging so the italian team now does the same but um cynthia is a left-handed archer so that might be a bit more difficult to shade her but um the italian coach is doing her best as she doesn't know no oh that's it ah solid solid solids very good so alessandro just eyeing this the the walk on his string he's quite sure of the distance look at the style yeah rather high elbow very high elbow and it's an eighth oh that's not necessarily wrong we all uh built a bit differently so uh somewhat you with a high elbow and some with a low elbow but you will also see the difference when we come to compound which generally have a much higher elbow but their their hand is turned in a different way so yes that sort of dictates the high elbow so so it's now italy in the lead uh with 40 uh versus russia's 33 points they're approaching target number three which are the cougars standing in the shade now that is at this point going to be a very difficult target to range yes um it's a bit sad that you can't see the view from where we are sitting to watch the uh it's a bit of a slope and it looks from here to kind of the landscape sort of kind of falls down almost where the shade starts too that's sort of oh i would have a hard time so they're shooting downwards and in the shade standing in the light yeah i would have a hard time guessing a distance correctly there i think actually from at least from where i'm standing now but now we have fabio in the picture there cheering horse is cheering for his teammates it's almost i think more than 25. yeah it is it is it's 20 well i would say 28. the thing is both longbow instinctive and barebow are shooting at the same distance and often at the same courses but the scores will also generally be lower for longbow a bit higher for instinctive and a bit higher for yes for bebo due to the more advanced techniques and equipment used and now that's solid for russia that that's good i would be happy with that on that range i'm pretty sure you know celia has a bit of a disadvantage when the sun coming down as a left-handed shooter 11 and 11. awesome shooting awesome since you're now shooting i i want to talk a little bit about cincia's shooting style here i mean we she is one of the best female barebow archers in the world but look at the way her hands sort of come into her face and she pauses before she gets to full draw yes closes her eyes takes sort of a silence sort of calms her nerves look at that close our eyes a little bit is she mentally then focuses draws back and aims and has attempts she has a very very well she's doing something right it's that's she's absolutely doing something right i mean she's she's using that moment uh where she comes into half anger or what she we call it before she comes really into anchor she's closing eyes focusing final touch applies and and she goes all the way through oh that was a long hold for me uh that was a long hold and it's late i was a little i think i think he doubted it i think his second second uh guessed his own decision that whether it was correct or not yes and that happens to all of us i was thinking about the way that that she does uh her her anchoring cynthia that she closes her eye maybe well i was just thinking maybe it's sort of mentally seeing the arrow hitting the target before maybe something like that we might have to go uh ask her afterwards and get the secrets out of him yesterday i actually asked her if it was because she started her breakfast with a piece of cheesecake that she was so good and she was blushing like a okay the cheesecakes are indeed very good they are very good they're very good now italy before the final uh target italy is in the lead with 58 points versus russia's 52. still open for discussion it is it is a miss would uh change things completely but um it's we haven't seen anything pointing in the direction of misses from any of the teams no no so it'll be a bit exciting to see the distance they're going to shoot from now because they had two long shots and now this is going to be a much much shorter yeah close this is uh that's a close shot yeah that's like 14 15 meters yes it is yes it is and you would think that at that distance it would be an easy target but again as you said before they're standing on the slope they're standing in in the shade and they have the sun in the eyes so it's uh yeah they do yeah but it's not as easy as it looks yeah and the score zones on on that target are not that big so julia drawing shoots and that's the 10 it's a good it's good we have vitali eyeing the target using it and really russia has to score uh 10 or 11 to have yes he knows that probably the pressure is on his ship the pressure's on his shoulders definitely yeah but um like we said they are world class artists all of them so yes they are really really good since you're eyeing the competition there well they can't just shoot safety they have to yeah as well 15 points difference now so uh two eighths and the gold is italy yes five and a ten and we will have a shootoff yes it would be fun to have a shoot off though but they probably don't worry and it's a 10. so that means that italy has it all in this yes alessandra has it all in his hands now it's it's a five it's a hit to win yes so no not five he has an eight win sorry [Music] and russia takes the silver wow congratulations that's not that surprised about since they're winning but alessandra not surprisingly but i'm i'm impressed about the way the russians have shot i must admit that that's that's serious shooting it is it is and it's only six points dividing the gold 79.73 we're talking uh eight errors we have an average for italy on almost 10 points per arrow my goodness yeah that's that's compound level that's almost compound level when we are talking uh metal matches absolutely yes that's fantastic shooting distinctive style from cincia with her one eye closed closer [Music] high elbow from alessandra clean release that's fantastic it is [Music] we are now awaiting the metal ceremony yes for verbo mix team i knew that people were coming here were good archers but it's another thing seeing it live is that i have been i've been absolutely amazed about the level it's it's my second international uh championship uh but i have been absolutely stunned by the level of shooting i've been seeing over the last few days yeah yeah it's um yeah it's the level you kind of thought that with the with the pandemic and the possible lockdowns in many places people haven't been practicing but no they've been practicing they haven't been holding out definitely i'm very happy to see that the level of shielding has not declined in any way good archers are still good and they are they are practicing their shielding to to get better and i would like to ask the medalist to come to the metal ceremony so we're going to be approaching the medal ceremony for bearable mixed teams and the battles will be presented by the vae technical delegate mr michel dumas and we are waiting for the russian team i think the russian team went down to the practice field i don't know i think they should come back and get their medals yeah they could go to the practice field afterwards that's a bit of a bummer yeah yes ah since she's happy i think we have a hopefully we have some fast runner that can catch up to them yes there's a delegate coming there so oh a bit of confusion seems to be prevailing here yeah um i don't know the russians maybe didn't understand that there would be a uh medal ceremony directly after the shooting so they have um they've kind of gone back now and now they're back now they're or someone from russia i thought they went for an ice cream but uh yeah they're coming planter yes yes they are back now yes [Music] [Applause] so bronze medalists from spain cassandra capoteles cesar vela bringers silver medalists representing the russian federation julia blanton and vitalia budja and of course the gold medal winners representing italy cincinnati [Music] and the bronze medals goes to spain [Applause] [Music] second place silver medal representing big cheers for russia they've been doing very well they've been doing very well they are not here with a big team but um they brought a very good team they did first place they've been very very good they have been showing some very very strong shooting yes like we said cincia is an absolute titan amongst uh women and uh alessandro is one of the upcoming guys yeah and the national anthem of italy of course [Music] so [Music] big cheers for all six arches they've been doing fantastic it's it's been a pleasure to watch it's been an absolute joy to watch this world absolutely arches yeah that's amazing amazing yeah that's the word [Music] [Applause] if that was me i would also try to stay as long as possible on the podium and enjoy the moment of course no doubt about that no doubt about it no doubt about it doing photoshoot on photoshoot but everything comes to an end and uh we are now moving on to the final class today which is compound mixed team and first up is the bronze medal match between austria and finland and uh austria is presented by ingrid wanaka who is uh ranking fifth in the compound women's division and nico veena who is actually leading the compound men's division yes so strong strong team finland is represented by anne laurela who is ranking 11th in the compound men's division so that should be uh solid match interesting match definitely [Applause] the fins are not here with a very large team either um no i'm not compared to many other teams but they are now it's going to be a little bit different because you will be seeing a red pig used instead of the blue peg the compound division in the compound division you shoot between 5 and 45 meters so it's considerably longer you'll also see for those of you not familiar with archery it's a totally different quote compound is more or less the anything allowed class very technical it's a very technical class you will have a bow a compound bow with um very very shortly and roughly explained wheels on the end and several strings and cables running and that means that when you draw back the bow it will be very very heavy until you come to the end of your draw cycle where it will let off and you only hold about twenty percent of your uh initial draw weight and the lenovo is due to the rings or the wheels being concentric so that you can get the length also you'll see that the compound bows have long stabilizers both forward and backwards and they have a sight often with a magnification of six to eight to ten times even and you'll see that the archers are shooting with a release it's actually kind of a trigger that your device that you're holding in your mind it's almost like yeah it's like a trigger device you're holding on so it's a much more technical and now for uh austria shooting first it's nikku on the foxes and they they are a lot further away now but probably not more than 17 18 meters oh it's a of course it's a it's a it's a it's a metal final and uh you can be nervous but but an eight as a compound shooter is wow he was hoping for more i'm sure about that english shooting now you can see kind of hooks up to the string with his uh release draws back and that's 11. that's at 11. so he's he's using what they call a peep to to look yeah you can see uh on on top of uh over the arrow here there's sort of a bulge on the string and that's a peep sight it's it's a small either lens or hole uh that she lines up with the the front side she has okay he's not really succeeding in shading her and she shoots as well my goodness so strong start for finland and finland in the lead 22 to 18. yeah that will well if if they keep on shooting that would be very difficult for austria to catch up with finland even though it's only yeah that's the thing about the compound division that the margins are that's not impossible by no means but you you are the compound division is an extremely precise uh division the the equipment they have allows you to shoot i mean i can't shoot as good as that with a rifle honestly no no no no no not free hand anyway so uh it's very precise equipment but on the longer ranges particularly you have to sort of get the distance more or less on the meter to get the arrow within the 11 range but we're gonna see a lot more tens and elevens than we did in the other classes despite the fact that they're shooting at longer ranges usually when we shoot these kind of events well nationally we will as purple archers or instinctive archers walk around in the same patrol as these compound shooters and they will all always be shooting first and then we sort of have their arrows to uh to shoot against yeah you do not want to uh kind of on short ranges put your arrows in the center 11 of the target and then have a compound archer coming in after you that's not desirable because your elves will be crushed yes that's true yeah that's well popularly speaking they do a robin hood yeah that's a roman numeral where you hit the opponent nico drawing forced right now excuse me i do not have the corona virus but i do have something in my throat sure that's an 11 on the ibex what what distance is the ibex at there i think i would say he's not that far away but he's probably 30 30. yeah yeah something like that yeah that's by no means an impossible task for the compounders to put 11 there so ingrid shooting oh she's taking it down again yeah she needed shady ah she that can be somewhat of a disadvantage that you need to take down your your error and start all over yeah depending on how much time she has left but and she shoots attack that's magnificent we from where we are sitting we cannot see how much time there's left and we could really but the judge will hold up a yellow card when that's 30 seconds left and but it's the compound shooters do they also only have 96 yes the same time range okay pekka shooting for finland 11. my god he's solid and anna is she's just adjusting her site so what i did not notice did she adjust she was she was just adjusting something on the site yeah she's probably adjusting for distance though trying to shade with the caspase just can't get it ah he might have gotten the angle right there okay but that's also because pekka can tell her what he shot the distance yes and his attention but yes that's right within the team you're talking about the distance and and also the coach walking along can be in that discussion i believe um but um an individual event um although you have your coach there there's really time to to talk about uh distance but in team events you can talk about however that means that finland remains in the lead with 43 uh against austria 39 yes and the next target of course is the cougars and it is a fair distance to the target from the red peg it's that wow yeah it's um fair target and like we said it's a tricky target to gauge the distance on uh it's it's more than three swedish team is on the screen now yeah waving hey yes we haven't talked about the church that we are actually it's an old um not in use right now church that we have a very very beautiful location um we might get it on the screen in a few seconds but right now the teams are preparing to shoot the kyuges and from at this target we can see the time the time has started so australia will shoot first it's a long shot but again it's compound they can do this a fair bit better than that long ranges is not really a problem for compound it's it's just guessing the distance yeah oh it's a good shot i'm not sure he's happy about it because i know compounders they want to get the eleven ring already satisfied ingrid preparing for her shot taking a deep breath he's doing a good job with uh with the paper then you can see she closes her one eye and now she opens it again good shooting [Music] so pickup of finland the judge is uh kind of uh telling the teammate to stay back just a little bit team head only has to stay back about one meter behind uh the shooting archer is attempting is that because she can get faster to towards the pack so they they have no time delay yes that's true since time is a is limited to 90 seconds she adjusted her sight there adjusted for distance yeah and again pekka told all the judge though sorry they're talking about the distance between the team that's a really long and she's taking it down that's probably a clever decision yeah she was uh she was also talking to the coach so you could see that she wanted probably him to have to lower the paper so that it's it's a strong move to do when you're under yes it is because she's she's really under pressure right yeah but she does not want to shoot a bad arrow and that's good however now she's a long holding no she doesn't have a choice she has to shoot oh that's solid that is uh that's that's hats off no doubt about hats off first taking down and taking up again and wow and probably approaching the time limit i did not see whether the judge had the yellow card up but i'm pretty sure she had the yellow card so what does it mean with the yellow card instead of the yellow card it's not really a warning it's a signal that the 30 seconds are remaining and the judge will probably hold up the yellow card and also verbally say 30 seconds she will also ask the teams before do you want any further oh okay any any further notification do you want to know there are ten seconds left and five seconds left and some teams will say yes some teams will say no uh one other thing is that we're talking about the one teammate not shooting has to stay one meter behind once they switch places because the first archer has shot his arrow the other archer approaches the line and cannot pull out the arrow out of the quiver before on the line you cannot you cannot pull out the arrow okay so uh uh that's um so weird there if if judge catches a team member pulling out the arrow out of the quiver before he or she is on the line she can order them to put it back go back one meet and go forward again okay but it you're not getting disqualified or anything like that but but your time is running your time is running yeah so who's shooting first it looks like finland is still in the lead with 64 uh against 59. yes austria is shooting first and of course it's the coyotes it's the uh coyotes and it's a long shot uh i would say 25 meters 24 maybe yeah nico shooting for austria steady bow hand there and 11. yes shooting a final arrow using uh the top of the bow as a rest for they always do that they always do that because it's comfortable for the compounders closing one eye that's a focused face yeah it is putting a little bit of pressure on finland which they had to do because they were um they were lying under so it's now it now differs um 17 points pick a shooting for finland yeah so they have they they finna should be able to call this home and that's a 10 10 ring i think it's an 11 there they're calling it ten now but that's um it might be upgraded to an eleven yeah uh and and shooting her final error for finland for the bronx it's a long hold again she's taking it down again she's adjusting she was she started she second guessed the sight setting it's not the right time that's definitely a sign of a really strong mind wow she's cold yeah that was that was strong shooting i mean i'm very very impressed of anne's uh ability to take down the bow there yes uh twice twice taking it down you know when you're in that position and you're uh under pressure the body really really wants nothing but get rid of that area you'd want to shoot that arrow and just get rid of it doesn't care about position no wonder she's she's up there yeah and she is fighting against that and uh this i and she's telling herself i can't shoot a good shot here okay she's realizing that she's taking the arrow down starting over again that's the right thing to do in that situation it is it is if you cannot fight through it then take it down start over again oh well it says the sign of the good archer that you have that you're able to to to well not not being completely destroyed by the pressure yeah yeah yeah no that's i i'm impressed honestly um so so now we are the final match for the day is uh the gold medal match in compound mix team and it is between irene francini uh from italy and jessie sorry sorry irene fancini from italy and jesse from italy and and this i can pronounce i know that from sweden we have uh mikhail anderle and eda carlson yeah of course your compatriots and arms from sweden that that will be it is also going to be a good match i think uh irene francini is uh leading the compound women's division in after the qualification rounds and jesse is second in the compound men so if that's not a strong team i don't know what is yeah uh sweden on the other hand is uh having michelan delay in the number three slot for compound men and either carlson also in the number three slot for compound women so we we're very sorry for the pronunciation our humble apologies to the italian nation and team we realized that this may be the last time we will ever be able to be commentating on an event like this but we promise to take italian lessons uh before next time now this is going to be at least for me a very interesting match so yesterday again and this is the only mixed team event that sweden has qualified for okay now um i can't honestly say a lot about the italian artist because i'm not very familiar with them due to my it's not it's not my class um i cannot i can say something about the swedish arches though michelangelo has been shooting very very constantly this year at a very high level he's been shooting we just heard in our you know uh speakers uh here that uh franchini is actually a former olympian archer a former that's very interesting yeah and she went to the olympics as well and after that she actually became world champion with compound though that is indeed that's something of a story that's true that's that's a story michelangelo going forward to shoot the first era for sweden as the lower ranking team uh the foxes again my goodness that's the science viking yes mikhail has been he's a strong guy and he's been solid and very very stable this year he has remained at a very high level on all qualifications in sweden you can see the ladder of the of the compound it's sort of well you can see where it stops when uh when the leather starts here and it's an eleven strong shooting goodness it's strong so here comes either the either the poundage of a bow is limited for compound to 60 pounds they cannot be over six pounds now either shooting either is a new up-and-coming talent this is her first international world archery championship event yeah she's quite young she is quite young she shoots she's an absolutely up-and-coming shooter for for sweden now for italy jesse suit jesse suit you can see how he's sort of gently now touching the trigger with this thumbnail strong shooting my goodness i hope that was better adjusting her sight for the for the chosen distance you can see the the green things on her limbs is limb dampness it's a limb damp and it's a dampened vibrations in the bow uh like a compound is not my speciality but you catch up bits in there oh she's shaking a bit that's a good choice good choice yeah he started to shake violently in her in her bow arm it's a good choice taking it down yes it is she's getting it i don't think she can take it down now but she's shot wow she's really shaking with that arm yeah that was that was surprising um i hope she hope for her sake that she really gets that uh back under control it could be nerves it could be fatigue um difficult to i experienced a similar thing during the first qualification stay on target four or five suddenly my legs started shaking violently um okay never been there before but i mean under pressure something uh something happens to your body of course with the bomb you can have a bit of shaking in the bowl and of course and for a right-handed archer you will hold the bow on your left hand yeah it's um well the logic is might be hard to explain but that's the way it is a right hand launcher holds the string with his right hand and the bow with his left hand i blame robin hood yeah so after the first target we are tied at 19 points for italy and 19 points for sweden yeah that's good shooting [Applause] but like we said these are all top tires in in this event so we expect to see good shooting sweden shooting first again as the lowest ranking team michelangelo approaching the peg focused knocking the arrow and he's now hooking up the loop to his uh release there are different kinds of different kinds of releases you have some that are triggered by your thumb uh some that are triggered by your index finger and some that are so called hinge releases that are triggered by your back tension okay that's a template that's it's a long shot that's i think it's probably 40 meters or something yes it's probably very close to freezing approaching and we have um our swedish coach uh coming up trying to shade her face a little yeah and it seems he's doing a pretty good job oh her own cap is changing so her release is a thumb release but i i believe that will be upgraded but we'll have to see about that yeah jesse's suit shooting fatally on the ibex and uh shading is done by the italian coach oh he was what's happening there he's doubting what happens i think uh he can't get the yeah yeah he's trying to look down so he's just uh turning his cap he's adjusting his kick yes oh that's better that's better it can be very difficult it looks like an easy job to do shading your notches face but it's not actually it can be tricky until you find the spot [Music] that was not good got out of the shading a little bit right before the shot broke and eight for easily an eight feet i'm sure he's not happy with that it's a it's a long long hold as well and she broke the shots [Music] i am i'm not sure what's happening i'm not i'm not sure what's happening there either actually uh i really feel a little bit pity fatally because that's that's not um i've been i've been having that kind of trouble when i was not drinking much drinking water enough water yeah yeah but like we talked about before these are all world-class arches and and maybe especially the italians are absolutely top tires yes uh nico's leading his class and well some of them some of them are close to being professionals right they're living from yeah yeah not the swedish teams the swedish teams are absolutely the danish teams so total is now 40 to sweden versus italy's 35 yes maybe a little bit surprising but the swedish teams are certainly happy about it yes so now it's it's easy to shoot first because they're the low ranking italy now yeah the shooting order now changes because italy is the lowest ranking team now and they're shooting the ibis using the cougars they're shooting the cougar now my goodness that's a long shot it is a long shot i'm gonna say maximum distance ah not not quite i'm gonna say 40 42 something like that but it's it's close to me so the time has started for italy jose's suit yeah shooting first and the coach is doing a good job there i'm still thinking about uh irene's uh um there are a little bit different styles especially in compound whether you have a straight bow arm or you have a slightly bent forearm and okay so if you have a bent board it's more difficult yes but you on the other hand have to to use more muscle to um to keep the bone in the same place yes whether if you have a straight forearm you're sort of using bone to bone structures however you can see that both irene and jesse are shooting the straight bow arm and locking their arm in place more or less again yeah shoot it i think she decides to fight through it now dude i wouldn't do that or she did oh she shot a 10. and it's a 10. it's a 10. very very long hole yeah she's struggling yeah but um i'm not quite sure that she knows what it's going what's happening because they're discussing probably not and i i am probably not sure what to do about now michelangelo is shooting for sweden on the cougar solid looking guy and someone shoots well yeah [Applause] now like i said mikkel has been the definition of stable this year yeah yeah and the female and either either she's approaching the peg very very quickly to have enough time to shoot and she has 47 seconds so that's a lot of time it's good so sweden after three targets is in the leads with 16 to 55 and i can tell you the swedish norwegian and probably finnish teams are cheering loudly so they're approaching the last target which are the cougars no no sorry the the jackals or the coyotes the coyotes yeah and we don't know the distance yet because they haven't put up the picture yes swedish team on suddenly experiencing the joy of being on television yes they're having a good time yeah the difference of five points dancing in the crowds i think we have uh our nordic neighbors in there too yes it seems like the norwegian norwegian and finney finnish team on the right i think the dates are probably in the swimming pool now approaching the last peg and we have to get back to the last target for today in the last match of the day it's probably 25 so sweden's in the lead with 60 to 55 for italy which means italy shoots first uh it's not impossible to take this in but it it's going to take everything from italy everything it only has for a compound archer this distance is not very far you you expect compound archers to shoot sure tens or elevenths it's about 22 23 meters and he shoots at 11 strong shootings very strong shooting from jesse she's asking the coach the distance and he's well i don't know what he said but she's adjusting her her sights let's see i hope she gets her what happens with her she can keep her arm in control that's much better well again we don't know maybe this is normal for her but this looks okay now it comes to shakes ah she shoots 10 might be upgraded to an 11. yes it's good it's it's a solid close solid two arrows yes from italy really good yes and especially given the circumstances i mean i i'm impressed that she's pulling through and fighting through that yes especially because she's been shaking like that she can shoot the last time shooting 11. that's good shooting that's very good so that means a 8 from either yeah that's enough to win yes deep concentration she's using her binoculars now she's sure and multiple eaters on screen right now yes you can see her bow arm is slightly bent [Applause] first international world championship uh that's about gains a gold medal that's amazing and uh not even gotten into the individual matches yet no no she can she can have a gold medal as well as an individual that's really impressive michael is also the second uh third tier in uh in in the women's compound division and michael is a third tier in the men's combat division okay so we need to uh give out some medals and then it's uh it's over for us this afternoon we have a medal ceremony for the compound mix team uh to go while we are enjoying a picture of either shooting her last arrows here it's a style study yeah it is like you see mikael is a big strong guy and he looks as stable as he is or he is as stable as he looks yeah okay okay because he's really rock steady he is rocksteady but i you cannot help sitting here and feeling sorry for no no struggling with her arm i think it's impressive or fighting through it that way honestly yeah it's strong done so good job italy yes sunday slovenia right we have an absolutely beautiful day today the sun is shining down on the top of the mountain it's like sunny weather in in denmark when it's summer temperatures are around 20 degrees something like that yes fantastic and it's just a slight breeze but what more can you wish for actually you're a beautiful place with beautiful people having fun yeah and coming to this with a sad moment we now ask the netherlands to come forward for the medal ceremony of the compound the division so we're just waiting for the medal ceremony we're just waiting for the medal ceremony the well the medals will be presented by a local man the director of a boho village resort mr varsha ilicice yeah that's great please [Music] they went for ice cream again i don't think they went for ice cream but they might go for ice cream afterwards and i might join them actually the arch is uh approaching the podium ladies and gentlemen this is going to be the final field as far as i understand at least for the rest of the competitions too okay it's going to be around here we have tomorrow we will have some team matches and uh thursday sorry friday will go on with individual eliminations yes and saturday will be individual semi-finals and finals and drunk matches so representing finland and the laurema and pekka loitari battle winners well-deserved [Music] [Applause] [Music] representing sweden for gold medals fantastic [Applause] big cheers big cheers and white we've been talking a lot about experience tightness today we've also seen some newcomers yes that's absolutely amazing i think a girl like either being in the first championship now the national anthem of sweden [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] indeed that was a good match testing is for people who do not have corona yet or are vaccinated if you are not vaccinated asking the swedish team to cheer and the rest of the swedish team is absolutely joyous about this at 7 45 tomorrow and with this uh i think maybe our job is over too i think so too uh it's been a pleasure doing this first time for me commenting on anything at all so the same thing i could do it again if the italians will let me in after mispronouncing names sure sure it's been a pleasure and a first time for me as well but now i can go home and tell my pupils that i'm a youtuber yeah so thank you everyone and um thank you and goodbye from uh georgia maribor slovenia the 3d european championships we'll be back friday we'll be back on friday the next event thank you thank you [Music] so so [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] you
