how I left the Order, and then,
this is where I'm at. -I know.
-I'm graduating law school. It's amazing that
you've gotten here. I'm so proud of you. I'm graduating law school today,
and I am so excited. I cannot believe
this day is finally here. If I was still
in the Order, I definitely would not
have been able to accomplish
what I have accomplished. When I look back at my life,
and where I started -- you know, the little girl
growing up in the Order, starting off
with that life, and now, here I am
graduating law school and making it on my own --
I'm proud of how far I've come. Okay, I'm gonna bring
my dresses out, and you guys tell me
which one to wear. Okay. That dress, that dress. Jessica: I really like your --
your plain blue dress. -That one?
-Yeah. I am so grateful
and thankful that my sisters are here
to support me today. Law school was hard, and they've
really been so supportive just through everything. Shanell,
we'll meet you in the car. Got everything? Yeah. ♪♪ There you are. Kristin:
How are you? -How are you?
-Good, good, good. Did you guys
run up here? We just went full speed. You're, like,'
out of breath. My mom, Kristin,
the one who adopted me -- she holds a really special
place in my life. She was my lawyer when I was
12 years old, and she, you know, was there by my side
through the court case. And eventually, she became
like a mom to me, and we just decided
to make it official. So, she adopted me. I swear I didn't even
have one of those. Really? I don't remember that. [ Laughs ] Perfect. I really wanted to grow up
and protect kids the same way that my mom, who was my lawyer at the time,
you know, did for me. Good? Thank you so much. So, she, like, really inspired
me to go to law school. Ever since I was 13 years old,
it was, I was gonna go to law school
and grow up to be just like her. [ Cheering ] ♪♪ When you leave
a polygamist cult, it's hard, psychologically
and emotionally, to get out. Woman:
Andrea Brewer. [ Cheering ] And so, for me, what's important
is to be able to lead by example and just show,
"You know what, it's hard, but at the end of the day,
you're gonna get through it, and you're gonna be a much
better person because of it. You're gonna feel so much,
just, power over yourself, and power in your own life, with
what you're able to become." There is another way. There is another life
out here. And there is happiness. It's here to be had.
