EPIC Inshore Fishing Adventure *Rooster Fish* {Catch Clean Cook} Catching fish 1 after the other!!!

[Music] hey good morning happy people i'm robert arrington this is deer meat for dinner and this morning we find ourselves on the side of the pacific ocean here at this beautiful little fishing village called magdalena we're about 150 miles north of cabo san lucas on baja california last couple days have been amazing we went out we caught a striped marlin while my little brother was trying to spear wahoo then we were jigging up just one after the other yellowtail the food has been amazing but the people are the difference this place is magical and it's such an honor to be here now today my friend toby who owns mag bay lodge he's going to come out here on a little ponga pongas are these little boats that you see up and down the pacific corridor here in latin america and it's what they use to get around it's their transportation it's their work vehicle it's also what they do for fun so today we're going to get on a ponga and we're just going to go explore i have no idea what we're gonna find we may be spearfishing we may be jigging we may be trolling but the key is we're just gonna get out there we're gonna have a good time and we're gonna see what the day holds you are riding shotgun now those are some freaking boss hog white boots right there the race is on you guys toby's on the phone calling a guy because gabe and kelly are going to go jump on on a commercial lobster boat here in magdalena this little island here they give out permits to catch the lobster even if you're a local mexican resident and you live on another island you still cannot get the permit it's specifically for these guys and today is opening day we're going to run out gabe and kelly are going to jump on the boat with them they're going to pull some traps and hopefully we're able to buy some lobster from them support their local economy and eat some good seafood while they're doing that me and austin are going to go get into some kind of crazy i don't know we're going to look for pargo's rooster fish whatever we're just on a boat we got fishing gear we're going fishing [Music] i am super jealous y'all that's all i got to tell you look at this oh when is this i am so jealous right now like they're literally going lobstering like this is so crazy oh my goodness so who knows what we're going to get into all i can tell you is life is meant to be lived like this just on a whim coming out meeting new people doing new things we came here like really looking forward to finding the striped marlin balling bait and going crazy but for some reason the water cooled down and the fish moved about 60 miles away so you know what we're gonna pivot we're gonna alter the the game plan and now we're having a time of our life doing something we never expected so let's get with it we're gonna come around here hop off on the beach and we're just gonna fish all along here we've got goofy jigs we've got swim baits see where all the birds are diving right here on the tip this is where the fish are going to be right on this point this is going to be psycho right here there is first stinking cast first cast with the with the goofy jig once you find what they want it's easy i got a bonita y'all if you would have given me a hundred guesses i would have never guessed hi imma catch a bonito first cast on the goofy jig check that out i just got smoked something just cut me off no way i just caught the biggest puffer of my life that's getting eaten y'all holy macaroni dude are you kidding me he just ate this look at them teeth look look at them teeth [Music] got him they keep eating it while it's sitting still this feels like a rooster look at this y'all oh and he came off right there look at that you know a lot of people come down here to mag bay chasing marlin and wahoo and dorado but we found that the fishing is absolutely amazing here no matter what you're after [Music] all right so we just got back on the boat and we had a really cool little picnic launch over on the beach caught all kinds of stuff caught a bonita a puffer rooster fish we even caught a little pompanette this place is so full of life it's not even funny so we're gonna troll along see what else we can't catch oh come on sucker there he just got him come on bless what do you know we got a fish on i don't know what it is doesn't feel overly large what do we have here it's a mackerel it's a spanish mackerel hmm yeah got the old mackerel that's what you guys call a sierra probably catch these things endlessly what you got there oh jackerville i feel like i'm fishing in an aquarium you just throw something out next thing you know you've got something on we caught a trigger fish trolling bro is that a pompano [Music] look at that boy beautiful fish it looks a lot like a cabera it is a cabaret it is a cabera it was a cabera now it's dinner you guys realize we trolled about 30 yards right there that's a rooster fish [Music] they're strong huh nice nice just just i'll get them in a second just get nice come here buddy now look at that right there y'all beautiful beautiful fish toby man we set out to catch fish and we have caught fish i just love that big comb that big mohawk they've got beautiful stripes those stripes actually act as a camouflage sometimes when you're catching mai mahi you'll see them do the same thing they get barred up like that just a gorgeous fish very powerful very strong wonderful fish to catch not very good to eat good deal money money money we've caught roosters mackerels puffers bonita what a day what a day this is where we've been staying we've got all our gear out front and this truck has been sitting here and i just noticed a little bit of the window check this out sharpen that knife just enough that's one of the best ways to hone your blade is the top of a window not a lot of pressure just use your natural angle you razor sharp let's go clean some fish [Music] these snapper have very very very hardy scales because they you know they live down there in and around all those rocks and they're just warriors for fish man you know when you hook one they're running for the bottom and it's just crazy fish austin did a great job landing it using such light tackle you know he's using a little favorite rod which is virtually a bass rod he's out here in the ocean doing battle with some giant snapper if you look at these fillets they have a very pronounced red line there let's see what the bottom looks like pretty red huh pretty red i'm just gonna gently cut it out not all of it but just some of it there wow this is like much redder than i expected cut out your pin bones right here and you have yourself a beautiful piece of fish make sure you wash it off in salt water look at that wonderful not only does it wash it off but the salt water adds natural sea salt right to the meat [Music] so here we go step by step we're going to use about that much batter okay let me get this out of your way and then we're using about that much let's see what this is i'm going to show you guys it's um called i don't know what it is see this and then she's gonna mix it up it's so cool we've been here and i mean i can say a few words in spanish but by and large i'm not a spanish speaker but we've had such an amazing time just trying to communicate and having fun i wonder if you could put it in a blender of course so it looks like that's all she did a little of this a little of this some water and mix it up i want to see how she got it to stick to the fish so good though that's true it did stick because you noticed it didn't like create a shell around the fish it actually stuck to the fish okay now it looks like she's gonna just cut some fish into some fish fingers i want y'all to watch some oh see she's cutting off the red line she's like uh-uh i ain't letting that mess up my fish [Music] that's i'm surprised at that i'm very surprised but that's that's why it's so stinking good and if you watch her she turns on the oil at the right time she moves and she's not rushing and every time it's perfect i'm i'm testing our oil it's hot enough this was too easy you know we came on this trip really focused on catching stripe marlin i didn't even know there was anything else to do right well we had bad weather and the fish left and it's like we never missed a beat everything turned out perfect if i had to do this trip over again i would have never even marlin fish really yeah look at this it almost looks like a tempora shrimp yessiree [Music] the batter really is what has me intrigued because that would be good on everything oh my it's god good it's delicious she didn't even put any salt or anything we gotta get this batter dude we're about to make this batter really popular the batter companies be like bro sales what happened to our online sales sales have went up like ah dang that doesn't get no better that is insane here that's here hold it that's as good as it gets right there y'all i hope you
