hi I'm Lisa Let's test your English pronunciation we all know that English pronunciation can be a real challenge whether you're an intermediate or Advanced student of English this test is designed to give you an idea of your current pronunciation abilities [Music] some of these words are everyday words but other words you may not be familiar with I will teach you the meaning of those more advanced words we will look at English words that are spelled with the letters CH the most common pronunciation of these two letters is and the phonetic symbol of Chu is this it looks like this for example child teacher and much but as you know English pronunciation has some exceptions the CH can be pronounced three different ways depending on the origin of the word the most common pronunciation is but sometimes the CH is pronounced as a k sound and sometimes it's pronounced as a sh sound and in one pretty common word the CH is silent do you know which word that is you will see some words on the screen and you will decide whether the CH is pronounced as a church foreign sound or if the CH is silent and then at the end of the video you will have a chance to practice some of these words Again
