lives our relationship with god and with one another we have wandered far away from home and god is calling us back home let us prepare ourselves for this sacrament of love by asking god to pardon and customs house and said to him follow me and leaving everything he got up and followed him in his honor levi held a great reception in his house and with them at table was a large gathering of tax collectors and others the pharisees and scribes complained to his disciples and said why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners jesus said to them in reply it is not those who are well who need the doctor but the sick i have not come to call the virtuous but sinners to repentance the gospel of the lord praise the lord jesus christ please be seated the first reading my dear brothers and sisters speaks about a loving god who invites us to do good and to avoid all types of evil whether they be thoughts desires or actions in today's gospel we see how jesus meets levi tax collector for the jews the tax collectors were robbers and sinners taking much more than was due and thus robbing the people to make themselves rich and they were equated with sinners and therefore the jews hated them and kept them far from themselves when we fall sick we go to a doctor most of us have a family doctor one to whom we can go at any time even if we fall ill at night and call this doctor he or she may come because is considered as a family doctor maybe that this doctor is a general practitioner and when the doctor comes and checks and finds that he is able to cure you he will prescribe some medicines if he finds that the sickness is beyond his cure he will send you to some expert whom he feels will be able to cure you or whatever is affecting you we may have physical sicknesses emotional psychological and accordingly we go to the doctors who can treat us for that particular illness the divine physician is above all the other doctors he knows our ailments even before we approach him and yet when we approach him it is necessary that we approach him with faith do i believe that when i approach jesus the divine physician he will do what is best for me jesus saw levi a person who was disliked by society and he knew the illness of levi on one hand you see levi jesus and the crowd watching they were constantly watching to see what jesus would do and all he says follow me the treatment that jesus gives to this man is far beyond all the man-made medicines it is the forgiving love that flows from the heart of jesus to this man what a beautiful encounter jesus looks at him looks into his eyes and says come follow me that was the medicine that levi required and it brings about instant healing physical psychological mental whatever illness he is instantly cured and a change comes over him you can imagine being hated by the crowd but being loved by the divine physician and he gives up everything he no longer needs money he no longer needs worldly wealth he no longer needs anything besides the healing power of jesus in his life and he's ready to follow jesus not only that when a person encounters the divine physician he undergoes total healing he is filled with joy and then he wants that physician to be known to his friends as well so that they too may go through a change in their lives the season of lent my dear brothers and sisters is precisely this the divine physician is here he's looking into the eyes of each one of us eyes of love eyes of forgiveness and he's saying come come back to me with all your heart let not fear keep us apart we are not fearful because we have a merciful god we are not scared because we have a loving god and we come in humility asking that he may touch our whole being whatever be our ailments whatever be our sicknesses we are in need of the spiritual healing as well and jesus is there to offer it to us provided we come to him with openness in sincerity with love let us thank him for these days of lent and make every effort possible to repent to turn back from sin to take the step forward so that we can encounter a jesus who is loving merciful and kind and who can bring a complete change in our own personal lives let us pause for a few moments in silence and each one of us as we look at the infant jesus ask that he may touch every part of our body especially our mind our heart that we may be change and experience his love forever and i'm sure now as we say the novena to the infant jesus there are many intentions many prayers of petition many prayers of thanksgiving let us bring all these prayers because we believe with our faith that jesus will do what is best for us i pray in a very special way for a 13 year old boy valentino who is suffering from blood cancer that jesus the divine physician may heal him and all of us who are in need of the divine touch of love oh jesus you said ask and you shall receive seek and you shall find knock and it shall be opened to you through the intercession of mary your most holy mother i knock i seek and i ask that my prayer may be granted please make your petition oh jesus you said all that you ask of the father in my name he will grant you through the intercession of mary your most holy mother i humbly and urgently ask your father in your name that my prayer may be granted please make your petition don't forget also to thank jesus for the many graces and blessings we have received in our lives oh jesus you said heaven and earth shall pass away but my word shall not pass through the intercession of mary your most holy mother i
