Engagements – How Long Is Too Long?

check this meme I saw online in madam new war article that is sparking a lot of debate it says engagement is when a man proposes to marrying a woman in a few months not when he puts a ring on her finger and scares other men away for the next five years that's which crash oh my Braxton you speaking of purse what do you think you think men propose to women with no intention of marrying them I think that when they propose they entertain the idea of marrying them some men some men okay but when when the men who really don't know or not or they just doing it because they're not sure you got too many people looking at you or they insecure about it right I think that you know they do it to scare everybody else away or to tie you down or have control over you or make it seem like you know they want to marry you or I'm gonna marry you eventually but I ain't ready but I'm gonna give you a ring well hold that ring and that's what I did Vincent Herbert okay cuz he really tried my life Oh like that right we have been together for like two years or whatever he proposed and we was you know engage for like a year and I'm looking long for me dog like you posed to be shy he posed to me asking me when we gonna do it right the day that we had already set went by flew by yeah nobody was planning I wouldn't play nothing either but everyone say when girls say yes you have to take responsibility you have to watch that calendar just like they watching watching you walking down the street how long was your engagement am mine mine was just 10 months because I don't wish a girl I don't play those games if you put the ring on my finger that means you're ready for commitment I don't know a lot of women that I actually know a lot of guy friends of mine that gave their women rings just to get them to shut up yeah like literally like they either had had children with them and like years have gone by and the woman is like everybody else married their baby mama you didn't marry me what's got like literally and and they legit told we were just friends so told friends that like y'all I'm just just y'all I'm just giving this to her just to get hurt but now I never talked about no wedding plans right never talked about when we're engaged for years I'm not working out but Lonnie don't you think you know when a man is ready to marry you doe oh yeah some of the signs friend when he actually got a date that he wants you know he thought about the money he gave me off I had a guy that he picked he had them the colors pick now yeah oh you serious up in this one huh no I don't want to marry you no no seriously when he is actively helping you make plans very true you know when he comes at you and say okay when we're gonna do this but let's you know look at the calendar let's set some dates and you know I mean my question because you ladies are married how long was it from the proposal to you actually planning that's a great question y'all said two months right ten months but Adam had our wedding date like the day he proposed yep that's good yep I do think though you don't have to rush into it just because you got the ring Japanese all of a sudden need to start getting flattened some are gone because sometimes the planning is a small detail of what you're about to step into you're talking about forever after you're talking about a wedding so I really liked taking time in my engagement to just understand what I would like like you it shifts your mind was right I wasn't real about plane she was not I wasn't yeah yeah so you said yes and thought about it later that's fine my mother said to do that yeah I do not sure but you really like him yeah and he asked you yes say yes and think about it later because he might not ask you again you might actually told Freddy from the get as soon as he asked me and he was on bended knee I was like yes and everybody you know plotted all that he was happy and then I said but could we take our time uh-huh what do you you said he said yeah let's talk about it later and I go all right you're the pictures yeah angry oh that's army at least the both people and both parties have an understanding of what's going on the only time I think that people should also have long engagements if they're getting engaged really young I think that if you are getting engaged in your teens or early like forth early early 20s I think that's when you should have a slightly longer engagement like night yeah at least if you ever drink at your wedding engagement with mutual my mom did say there's a season for everything my mom said enjoy being boyfriend girl enjoy your engagement enjoy your marriage and then enjoy having kids yeah I do believe in that I'm just not gonna wait like for years yeah I think that when you're older like I'm not waiting forever brag if I get engaged I'm intending on getting married within months as quickly as well you guys old emotes now so now it's time you know oh you don't know what you lived your life you've been through some bang you've lived so you know the difference now yeah well love is when you know what somebody's serious about it you know you know you can tell the difference somebody's sitting right here playing with your feelings in there yeah live in here I think it is weird like I obviously was engaged for five months I think and in that time I don't think any planning was done well no I know no plan was done so maybe that is not a great sign if you're not excited or like you're not then that's the purpose of having the engagement period it's really you know that's so many things out yeah yeah I figure most to be that time yes and as long as it's mutual then it's respectable to both parties I got yeah okay I thought I smoked before I'm the same okay but yeah now say if he ass don't take the excuses well I ain't ready yet nah she was ready when you asked okay
