have you heard about the latest Netflix show Queen Charlotte as a fan of TV shows like this I have to say that this one is seriously worth your time it only has six episodes um but I've been to watch them all this weekend and it was fantastic um created by Shonda Rhimes the show follows the real life story of Queen Charlotte the first black queen of England and as a woman who's passionate about female empowerment myself I found it inspiring to see how this remarkable woman defied the Norms of her time and navigated the treacherous Waters of the Royal Court um Shonda Rhimes is a Powerhouse when it comes to creating content that empowers women she's the creator of Gray's Anatomy scandal and how to get away with murder among many other successful shows including of course Bridgeton [Music] um Queen Charlotte is her latest project and it's one of the most anticipated shows of the year and what makes it so special is that it's based on the real life story of Queen Charlotte she was a woman who defied the Norms of her time and was a powerful force in her own right she was also the first black queen of England which is a fact that's often overlooked in history books which Shonda Rhimes saw this story as an opportunity to showcase the strength and resilience of women and to shed light on a part of History that's often ignored Queen Charlotte is set in the late 18th century during a time when women had very little agency in their own lives the show follows the story of Queen Charlotte as she navigates the treacherous Waters of the Royal Court as I mentioned before and we see her struggle to find her place in a world that's dominated by men seeing her fight for what she believes in one of the most exciting things about the show is the cast the lead role of Queen Charlotte is played by two women and India Ria amatefio I hope I said that right she plays the young Queen and golden rushovel and I hope I said that about as well um plays a more mature Queen who also features in the Bridgeton series The Supporting Cast includes actors like ajoa Ando playing Lady Danbury and alsima Thomas who plays her younger self other stars of the show include Corey mile creased oh gosh these names are so difficult to say and he plays the young King George brilliantly and Michelle Fairley who plays his mother and fans of Game of Thrones will certainly recognize her these actors bring a level of authenticity to the show that's rarely seen in Period dramas and I just thought they did a brilliant job but Queen Charlotte is important for a number of reasons first and foremost it's a show that showcases the strength and resilience of women it's a reminder that women have always been a powerful force in history even when their stories have been overlooked or ignored it's also important because it sheds light on a part of history that is ignored the fact that Queen Charlotte was the first black queen of England so one of my favorite things about the show um being a style blogger I do have a star blog as well is its attention to detail when it comes to fashion and style the costumes are absolutely stunning and they transport you back to the late 18th century when the show takes place another thing that really sets Queen Charlotte's apart from other period dramas is its Music Choice the Show's music supervisor Alexandra patsavas has done an incredible job of selecting a mix of classical music and modern pop songs to create a unique and unexpected atmosphere the show's soundtrack features a mix of classical music and modern pop songs which creates a unique and honest unexpected atmosphere the classical music is used to capture the Grandeur and extravagance of the Royal Court while the pop songs are used to inject energy and emotion into the show's more Dynamic moments it's brilliant but what really makes Queen Charlotte special is how it portrays women the show's lead Queen Charlotte is a powerful and complex character who defies the expectations placed on her by Society she's surrounded by other women who are equally strong and dynamic and it's refreshing to see a show that puts women at the Forefront like that as a woman who's passionate about female empowerment myself I think that Queen Charlotte is an important show that every woman should watch it's a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of women and it sheds light on a part of History that's that's been overlooked so if you're looking for a show that's both entertaining and empowering then I highly recommend checking out Queen Charlotte on Netflix if you enjoyed this video please give it a like And subscribe to the channel for more secrets on empowering women uplifting affirmations meditations and more thank you so much for watching and don't forget you are the queen of your own life so make it Majestic
