[Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay make sure your chamber flag's in when you're not shooting okay and get yourself to get your bag under here whatever you want to use you will have to lower these probably all the way all the way down get yourself comfortable get looking at that 400 yard and then once you're in the scope once you're in the glass you can go ahead and close the boat okay dead center impact wow man high high and left which one you want uh give me 400 and i would say with the wind i would i would maybe hold just a little bit right maybe maybe just a half a plate right so we get on the plate so 400 and half a plate right second when you're ready impact it dead center okay so let's go ahead and dial it out to 500. [Music] [Music] uh hey buddy good morning buddy how are you doing spencer doing good buddy your chariot awaits oh man you got to get it loaded up it's inside you eat much sleep last night i slept from like what 9 30 to 1. i think that was about it well it's what 4 42 now oh geez and i've been up since 2 30. oh geez yeah well we're going to be tired tonight let's go take mutant yeah how much you want to bet he doesn't have all this stuff together yet we're gonna get to mud lake road and he's gonna say oh shoot i forgot something i forgot my wallet don't forget his gun oh there he is all right you got your gun oh yeah dear god we thank you for this day we thank for this opportunity to go on this once-in-a-lifetime hunt all the blessings that you brought so that this can happen we're so thankful for our families our work and just the ability to do this we pray a special protection and blessing on all of the loved ones that we have while we're gone put your protective angels around about them and us too as we go on this hunt help us have a great bonding time help us be successful if that be your will and bring us home safely we pray christ's holy name amen amen all right let's everything i brought dude it's just been like the chaos mark was on the fence on whether everything was going to work out i almost had to drive in the zoo this morning oh boy how much sleep did you get last night i was fine i took the kids trick-or-treating and back at it nice to meet you mark you ready to do it do you need to stop anywhere i'm gonna do that too i gotta get triple a's for my headlamp um yeah so i like [Music] so [Music] for you to get used to the topography around here was it similar in oregon i mean you were kind of used to it because for for us this is this is like oh my gosh that's got white caps spencer is probably wishing you'd stand in the middle of the road taking pictures oh my gosh there's no hunting on the way in right correct unless you saw like a boone and crockett or something i mean how does that work you shoot something on the way to the way to camp there's not much opportunity too yeah and then you have to deal with it so what kind of wildlife can we expect to see nature guide cody uh lots of white trees we might not see any elk going in we might see all going in i'm not sure probably i'll just elk and deer predator type stuff any predators he's a real surprise without any predators yeah there's not much for there shouldn't be any grizzlies here so we'll get up here we're gonna get your guys this uh stuff broke down you do want to shoot your rifles probably check zero maybe you guys can walk down and mark it out start loading llamas and getting that stuff ready you guys wanna just go down the road and check zero yep all right so we'll get llamas loaded up and then we're gonna bomb it and it's gonna be up over here so we're gonna go kind of up through here and see that knob there just to the right of that we're gonna go up home to that okay pretty close to there so we're gonna go up over into that other basin uh mark and i are real hopeful that we get there by dark so basically we'll get over there get camp set up get some firewood cut so what we do is we cut a pile of firewood and put it right beside seth's sleeping bag so he he can stove the fire exactly perfect you'll be awake because i'll be snoring so yeah you'll be able to soak the fire since you already be awake so you can't set up get a lot of staked out uh yeah kill some out seize into it kill some milk cody is is when we first had a conversation with you about the um camp when we mentioned sleeping in the teepee um and that was so for us you have to forgive us because if it's 40 plus acres that's that's big that's a spread in ohio so everybody will go to southern part of the state to whitetail hunt not because there's a crazy amount of whitetails there it's just because it's just what you do you go to deer camp drink beer yeah so we we would go to a property of a person that we knew and he had i think he had actually had like 400 acres so it was big yeah but that's where we set up the tp and so we uh we have very amateur level experience at like attempting kind of like the back country even though you're you know you're not too far from anything civilized but so we've done that and then we now have our own 40 acres but it has a log cabin so it's pretty nice the cabin is sweet yeah it is pretty nice digs now [Music] here you have to tell me what rock you're shooting see the little pile like close to the snow one on the left yeah big one yeah zeroed we're at one that's where we need to be [Applause] correct create you these for once take the one on the right [Applause] got it gaunder yeah that was loud [Applause] just kept buying them on the internet so i kept using them where are we at we can put some i mean i've given him a couple things he doesn't know he even has yeah right there's something we can do no i know you're good just holler at us thank you where's ty you have uh hey guys welcome to an elk hunt in montana we're with cody rich and mark with treeline pursuits we've got the llamas packed up we're think we're gonna camp before we head over in the morning so we're one third of the way to i just don't feel like boondocking in the dark but 10 llamas [Music] hey cody i got an idea gideon relax buddy um i can stick five in my time oh we'll be fine we'll i we can stick five in my tent easier than a tarp over a tree i got a big tarp let's just do my attention my teepee i think we could dig it in here your is going to have a way bigger footprint than mine though is it yep will you pick the spot we'll start working on it okay right back there all right let's just pick a a flat spot that's i don't know just twist off that tree right there okay i want to hard time gideon before i get crazy i'm gonna hold that one you wanna i got a shovel that seems like work let's just dump it out good how pissed would you be if you came down to trail horses in the middle of night oh that would be it would be some of them do some of them cody yes sir it's not getting dark or actually you guys surprised [Music] okay so give them just just put a pile on the ground maybe one big a little bit more one big handful okay that's about all they need for tonight so just do one of these and put it on the ground and kind of you know give him a little pocket flatten it out a little for him this guy's standing here yeah he's gonna stay right there [Music] the camp toured the whole week how many trees would be gone by the time we start cutting further further away from camp that one right there look at that oh man person that comes through here is gonna be like wow these guys some rookies yeah i'm gonna write cody rich's name on a tree carving in the tree these come off the tent just throw throw them in there [Music] [Music] yeah gonna be happy [Music] um [Music] smash [Music] so this is like a normal one the size the one that one there is the one the mountain lion almost got it oh really gideons are free what would you say gideon's top what percent of all llamas in the country top five [Music] great how do you feel good all right day two we broke camp we camped right in the middle of the trail last night because we it got dark on us making the final climb up to the top and then over the other side and then we're gonna make our full camp it's quite the climb not used to the altitude making sure we stay hydrated spin that camera around spencer and check out just over here well that wind feels good doesn't it yeah it does [Music] yeah over the top this way and is there a was there a like a small pond or something in that basin well there's gonna be water running down that drain yeah we've got enough it's warming up dude this is a heat wave out here there's still melting now yeah it's gonna be seven yeah every one of these little drains gonna have a little all we need is a freaking ribbon yeah we'll build an aquifer we'll take a look at that view incredible that's crazy [Music] [Music] [Applause] pretty good but i will be honest i was glad to hear cody say that he wanted to stop for an hour so this is melted melted snow you can see it's got some some extra fiber in it but uh we melted in the campfire so it has a little bit of a smoky flavor to it it's definitely never anything that i've ever experienced before pretty good yeah scott how you doing well i'm do i do better when we don't walk yeah me too no the altitude's getting me a little bit we're at 82 50 right now but uh having a blast i'm doing great don't have a headache or anything just blowing sucking a lot of weight oh so what are we talking from here to there that's a thousand yards so you'd take the shot from here we're changing the plane completely oh you're in charge i don't even need to know the news plan but basically the headlines down the bottom right there why isn't my cotton ball is not give me that little thing again i have enough vaseline well number one water what is the problem in the wintertime it's a real this nose didn't work it's starting to melt yeah i think we can tarp belt a bunch of snow smoke snow my favorite this won't be too bad with the wind blowing yeah i could have documented this [Music] so so we're getting ready to make camp first day glassing so we're just gonna sit here watch this basin see if we can see something in the timber and then we'll make a move mark and cody are up here building fire absolutely beautiful country it's amazing incredible so we've made a decision where day two camp is gonna be which day one was supposed to be day one for the rest of the trip but we had to spike a camp right uh down the mountain because it got dark but um getting ready to set up the permanent camp and do a bunch of glassing we've already been working on that a little bit but we've got some tracks so this is still is day one of hunting so we haven't even really gotten into it yet we just got to get our camp built cody and mark went back to get the llamas get the tents we're gonna go cut firewood get us a camp you're ready to settle in let's do it and then kill a massive belt okay we were way over there yeah it might have been even on the other side look at this all right wow did cody mention where he thought the elk might be somewhere on these hills there's tracks right there those are all tracks or sheets see them right there we wow to the top and get actually seth if you want to just grab the steaks they're in one of mark's they are uh yeah they're i got them in here all of them in the same way okay you want to grab those steaks take these out this one right here easy yeah well what you do is you just turn your steak sideways you dig it in and then you pack hard snow you put it in the middle and then you nailed it this is what i'm used to filming first one was don't forget to do the butcher blend i know right i'm trying to grab whatever already got in the pan how about we just do doubles just out the gate yeah singles i'm good with the single well okay so there's a half one two three four five six seven you gotta get your own condiments eight nine ten eleven so we're gonna go 12 and i had six and eight a couple doubles a lot of singles we're going to polish this thing whole thing off tonight [Music] i don't know all right top notch ah bellies are full just dined on some elk and bear burgers cody now it's time to get some glassing in for the evening hunt [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] so we are hanging tight actually behind this rock face because the wind is brutal glass in this ridge line seth and cody ducked around the corner see if uh they could see anything along with mark on the other side so far we have not spotted the elk [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] do [Music] little chilly okay tinder too did you tinder nice [Music] well [Music] biggest right there [Music] [Music] okay [Music] [Music] oh [Music] he had so many one-liners did you guys like you talk about your dad a lot you guys have a really good relationship with your dad yeah we do um he he kicked her so much that that everything you know as far as like a lot of our success tough love man his famous one-liners were always you know put another step in there put six more steps and steps in there always be thinking about the next step you know you never wanted to see you slacking [Music] is [Music] [Music] [Music] hey buddy you criticizing our water system we'll start selling it to you cody yeah you're lucky are you okay yeah it's not it's not hot believe it or not [Music] is [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] day two gonna spend the day glassing got this whole mountain range on this side it's got cody and mark on the other side of this little knoll so we're gonna spend a few hours scouting glassing if we spot something we'll make a move stay tuned so okay what do you think about uh can you can't can we camp everyone down there um we could find a place to i mean here's my theory it was like if we even if we go down here and hunt this evening leave the llamas in the trailer going all evening hunt we could drive south swing by murdoch and then head south from there then we're closer not instead of camping right here of course we might be back now tonight but okay so that's so realistically we're not in a hurry not really because we have basically six hours to get down so back at camp day two day two of hunting we've only hunted for about i don't know eight hours or so we hunted last afternoon evening and uh this morning but uh we're gonna make uh a move because we're not seeing the numbers uh as in we're at zero but they're uh there's other pockets where we expect to find out so we're gonna grab some breakfast and then we're going to scurry down the mountain and run into a pile of elk and start dropping them like flies look how big they are we're hunting goats [Music] certain words sit down okay you should be clear except we've got these llamas tangled now hold on um just got off the mountain on day two cody's picked a spot where he believes there's a pile of elk so we decided to back out from where we were and we're headed to a new spot so stay tuned come along should be fun [Music] here we go whoa you boys [Music] shake out a loop here i don't think it looks big enough i'm going to smack him right in the face i feel like you're not going to catch him i'm going to get to you okay maybe on the second try it's been a few me let's go mark i'll go with mark i don't know how tempered that ridge is it's hard to tell it looks like it goes all the way up but well i might end up going over [Music] i'm doing better on the
