develop from compton you can't quit on this one and that's entirely true even though compton does not have a chance to get back into this game i've always felt that games where there are complete blow-ups like this do serve as excellent learning opportunities and allow players to kind of get a little creative like with their actual plays and see what they're really capable of knowing that there really isn't a risk and that you've already lost the game maybe something could come out of it christian reyes boots one to the right side it'll be hills from his 15 finds some space wiggles around and is met by three huskies at the 39 late flags coming flags the extracurricular activity [Music] things are getting personal man and at this stage in the game it just seems so unnecessary because like for the huskies i mean like you're already dominating the game as it is you have a 41 point lead there's really no need to be more aggressive than you already are and for compton deck you're just trying to stay in it have a little sense of pride and confidence knowing that you can at least still play the game with some heart and some pride and you know show as much effort as you can despite the losing effort so in the bobby godinez era against compton east delay has outscored compton 269 to 44 points i expect in the fourth quarter to see a lot more jerseys from elac this type of game where if you're on the winning side a lot of fun in the locker room everybody gets to play compton keeps it on the ground run right so far a loss it will be a loss of about one with the carry head coach of elac al padilla passed away in his sleep at the age of 90. he was actually the last and the only head coach to win a state title in 1974 as compton operates with three wide receivers out some good some bad after the 2019 season and after 627 days of no football we're finally here back at weingarten so far off to a good start for east l.a as they've been in control of this one 49-8 under 50 seconds to go i don't think there was ever a doubt in elac's mind that they were going to come away with this game with a victory but it's still an important game to win at home knowing your opponent like knowing who your opponent is going to be next week [Music] always helps to have that nice little boost of confidence emmanuel nawak was the one who carried there just gets back to the line of scrimmage second and long under 20 seconds to go that should bring us to the end of the third quarter [Music] so on thursday when a player tested positive for covet on the husky side we didn't even know we were going to go into this fourth quarter because we thought the first two games were on the verge of being cancelled so a team duck party was trying to shut down the show the doctor was was explaining hey you've got a player with covet and anyone near that player should now be in quarantine for 10 days but it turned out that elac had done the right thing with that player because he he noticed symptoms prior to getting tested and so they quarantined him or kept them away more than 15 feet from the team and they caught all of that in their practice film the proof so the proof was in the pudding that the season must continue because elac followed all its protocols all its guidelines in here they are into game one into the fourth quarter with the big time lead 15 minutes away from capturing its first victory since the 2019 season when it came away with the victory here against i believe moorpark been a while been a long time start of the fourth quarter elac 49 compton eight compton will operate right to left now it's good to see battle staying in the ball game takes a snap throws right looks like it was complete a floating pass it's actually a new quarterback that's cleveland farmer who floated one to the right side complete so a gain of about 10 there will create a third and long [Music] excuse me fourth and long [Music] offense looks like it's staying on the field as the ball's marked in in husky territory at the 49. i'm very unfortunate so far to see that battle has yet to return to the game even though you know compton doesn't have a chance to win it hopefully doesn't have any negative impact for the rest of the tardis season farmer shaking around in the backfield will take off himself puts his head down and gets taken down good tackle by jeremiah jackson trotter and we got a flag on the 50-yard line we'll see what that means for the this play here and even farmers limping just like battle did when he was out at quarterback so who's quarterback now they don't have a they do they have eric salas from marcus high school in huntington park listed as the number three quarterback so we won't find out who comes out in the next possession until east la gets done with its own possession turnover on downs husky football now at the 13-58 mark of this fourth quarter east delay trying to return to its winning ways as it did in 2016-2000 two straight losing seasons four and six records over the last two years as mason will dive forward pick up a four second and six mcmillan out at quarterback see we got a whistle here not sure why second and six now from the 47. good snap that's the nine jersey that's guy mccarthy who picks up the first down that was actually pedro hamasu mamasu stays at running back they'll call his number again right side finds some space stays on his feet down the sideline touchdown huskies balance control running effort [Music] pretty much i i would say if i were him i'd go right over hey i can run a touchdown too i wouldn't be surprised if there's maybe some friendly competition so you can get the most from 53 yards out into the end zone that's two straight possessions where compton just had trouble tackling extra point up and through makes it a 56 to eight ball game by the way 1305 remains lots of time a lot of time left on the clock for compton to do anything anything at this point would be a change of pace in this game and unlike the high school level no mercy rule no running clock or is there in a little bit [Laughter] yeah that's it so reyes comes out for the eighth time so booted out into the hands of compton the kick beautiful kick rolls to the back of the end zone touch back compton [Music] [Applause] so we saw battle limp off the field we saw farmer limp off the field who's that quarterback for compton looks like they'll be going with let's see that is probably number 10 that's the 10 jersey that's muhammad muhammad will take the high snap they'll keep it on the ground between the hashes a decent gain pickup of about six or seven that was tanner anderson with the carry second and four now so this is the third quarterback in for compton two injuries to the first two quarterbacks both injuries appear to be lower leg injuries as well muhammad right side calls his own number pushes the pile manages to pick up five in a first down so we're starting to see some of the jerseys rotate for east l.a as more players are getting some action now that's always fun seeing everybody play as the clock continues to wind under 12 minutes [Music] the home opener for godinez and the huskies a success as they look to pick up victory number one the end around gets blown up possibly a yard the carry by karen coles blown up in the backfield antonio nava blows that one out second and eight from the 39 so after skipping the 2020 season everyone's just glad to be back to some type of normalcy during 2020 only five teams actually played a couple teams from the north and one lone team from the south that was antelope valley here four wide receiver set quick pass is batted down got it down in the the backfield jersey of christian hall bat down the the pass from muhammad that'll create third and eight 10 45 to go in this home opener so east la nearly matching the 2019 final against compton and that was a 60-7 final here 56-8 full house formation with the pitch to the outside goes nowhere stoned in the backfield possibly a loss of one that will bring up fourth down [Music] so we were assured that there's no quarterback controversy at elac zero godin is coach drum and company that's just the system they run a two quarterback system the only reason rudy garcia got the knot is he's coming back for his sophomore season after getting some snaps during the 2019 season clock continues to wind under 10 25 a lot of confusion from the compton side trying to set up their punting formation [Music] nice end over end kick fielded at the 30. down the sideline some space gets whacked late hits that's going to be an instant flag that was guy mccarthy with the with the carry he got blown up out of bounds unfairly not the prettiest of sight and you can even hear the crowd react to just how brutal of a hit that was i guess the mindset for compton is nothing to lose at this point right that's not fair though oh it just it just isn't yeah and like it's completely unnecessary if you're the huskies like there's really no need to play with that level of intensity like you always want to play hard but at the same time like you don't want to go out to hurt somebody like that and hopefully he isn't hurt especially considering you have the rest of the season to actually play so at this point what bobby godinez is telling me by sending rudy garcia out there as let's pile it on i mean after that hit especially [Music] especially since macmillan has had most of the reps so far this game if you want to run your two quarterback system might as well have your second quarterback actually do some work garcia completes near side decent pickup of about five the 87 jersey ismail lopez lopez is actually one of the returning players from the 2019 campaign it's good to see him back into some action flags on the field on the previous play let's see what the call is from the head official holding huskies [Music] clocked is held at 9 54. east delay backed up to the 48 of compton it's good to see the head official roll his arm around say hey start the clock let that thing roll let that thing whine i'm sure the refs have places to be to four wide receivers for elec still aggressively playing running back screen some blockers they pick up some of the lost yardage across the 45 to the 44. pick a before by east la there so christopher castillo there with the catch and a flag again personal foul roughing the passer rubbing the passengers [Music] so that will that will give east la an automatic first down at the 9 18 mark [Music] [Music] for compton next week they'll be hosting santa monica that's a 6 p.m start and then the following week they'll host la harbor they'll get into conference play october the second when they travel all the way up to the desert to play victor valley quick pass garcia completes and quickly blown up it was lopez with the catch just picks up a yard zion frazier was all over that one and blew it up second and ten under 8.50 we go he's still a run right and a decent carry by christopher castillo who might have picked up the first down he does pickup of 10 there by castillo the 91 jersey of compton gets up slowly so we'll stop play mark collins slowly gets up yeah decides to step off no it's very unfortunate to see for comp and just another player limping off the field luckily it's under inside the 15 elac attacks under eight minutes now you can see the on the sideline of east los angeles the intensity still at a high level not taking for granted any snap quick slant over the middle tartars at some point you have to stop right could be personal you keep going you keep piling it on all that extra curricular activity down the sidelines the late hits lots of pushing and shoving college hasn't been in east la in quite a while as reyes boots it deep excellent kick by reyes reyes has got a leg that's his ninth time coming out for a boot excuse me eighth and i think almost every single time me at all except for one i think except the safety because obviously you kick it from way back deeper yeah so that would be the only so he's been out nine times to kick it's an active kicker man and he's 100 on extra points too right yeah has not yet missed been very very consistent so far in this game and based off of the pacing and how much time is left i would not be surprised picks up four second and six [Music] antoine martin now in that running back so the stable of running backs coming in for some action at this point in time it just makes sense to have fun with it see what different quarterbacks can do do a little bit of experimenting three wide this time no pound the rock open space trips up turf monster taking them down martin with an [Music] eric bogan now in that running back we'll see if he tallies a a carry here under 3 40 on the game clock [Music] bogan [Music] the product from alabama he attended greenville high school in greenville alabama he picked the most points scored by a husky team ever i was running myself i mean based off how well they've been doing i wouldn't be surprised if that is a scoring record for this team extra point through a 70 bomb dropped by the huskies so we'll check if that's a a record so i'll throw the sports information director under the bus he says row with it school record 70 points 2 49 to go in this blowout reyes comes out for the 10th time still has plenty of leg and that is going to be another touch back what a weapon to have right and yes the husky offense have very much exploited the weaknesses of this compton defense it's very clear that the huskies know what to do with their variety of weapons that they have offensively they have a great kicker who can consistently click kick for touch back hasn't missed a single field goal all day they run the ball well on the ground they can air it out when they absolutely need to they know how to utilize their weapons here compton will try to create anything and get something on the scoreboard and make it look much more respectable elac having fun everybody's played [Music] emanuel will go deep intercepted and fumbled [Applause] and picked up by compton omar carranza came away with an interception and then gave it back you don't see that very often that's actually the 30 jersey that was steven jimenez with the interception and then later dropped it as anderson the running back recovered for compton we'll see if the tardis can you know make something out of nothing with this effort here first and ten on that is going to be another interception for the huskies and this time it's actually going to stick no fumble recovery on this one so husky football once again [Music] very fun and interesting developments in this late stage of the game just when you thought compton was going to have something going with that interception that was fumbled and recovered again by compton only to throw another interception [Music] victory formation for east l.a finally like if you're a compton there you have to be hoping like maybe we can get something positive out of this hopefully a score maybe make some good plays and then it all just fell apart their confidence has absolutely been shaken in this game the entire time so the dog pack finally done eating and electing to get into victory formation kneel this one out and stop the suffering right yep it's about time put him down and the huskies players are going to sleep well today fun times from weingartz stadium next week 6 p.m kickoff against chafee college will be the first time in six years that east los angeles takes on chafee the panthers will travel about 33 miles into monterey park from ontario as this one winds down second and long now so if there is a player of the game i think we got to give it to mason i'd have for four tubs on the ground rushing touchdowns both from one yards out it was respectable in the second quarter for a bit a 28-6 ball game then a safety 28-8 we we were thinking well maybe compton will make some noise wasn't the case there was a very strong chance that kante could keep it interesting and they did for the rest of that half but then eventually it just turned into the laugher that it is that will do it the huskies win their season home opener 70 to eight a knockout saturday afternoon wasn't pretty for compton but for east los angeles maybe a sign of things to come hopefully they're trying to bounce back from two straight losing seasons here they're off to a good start excellent start great game against you know a hotly contested team well i don't know how they can test it a rivalry team so to speak yeah like i definitely uh not so friendly competition back between the two teams but definitely it's like some heated blood between the two teams altogether what we're going to call a scoring record for east los angeles college 70 point win 62 differential over uh the tartars here definitely something i haven't seen my time covering east
