High School Football: Long Beach Poly vs Leuzinger

side long beach poly hosting lutzinger at cabrillo a game that was originally scheduled for the first week of the season rescheduled due to kovid probably coming into this game owen 2 to start the year they cannot wait to get on the field they're trying to be a little less lootzinger and a little more winnings are that is the plan they always wanted to get their first win against lutzinger they just had to wait a little longer than they'd wanted to quarterback ashley tucker a legit dual threat for the olympians and it looked like an early mistake here on this sort of dropped pitch but it was ruled an incompletion that it went ladder it wasn't a lateral it went forward and so lutzinger will keep the ball and that was significant on the next play tucker with the tuck and if it's tucked then it's tucking tyler 80 yard touchdown on the next play that's gonna put lutzinger the loo up 7-0 skip into the loo and uh they were fired up probably a lot of tension on the sideline a lot of guys going oh this was not supposed to happen this week it's not the start you want to see but shay kai kendall did get a he was a full-time starter today darius curry sidelined with injury as uh titus bordeaux gets that catch from shea money there but this really was the goal was more than a sampling of junior running back devin samples and that sets up plays like this as kai kendall finds mikhail jackson that's a jackpot m jack with the 32 yard touchdown and we're all tied up at 7. they love consonant jack athletes at poly that's a tradition over there obviously but going the other way the lou tucker has that offense rolling the olympians get into the red zone uh as they're gonna get a nice run there and then a terrific catch from keyshawn abreu who we saw at jordan last year at lutzinger now they're moving it but jeremiah filippo and donovan poe in on the sack big time play right there the defense for the jackrabbits really playing with a lot of swagger and physicality that we haven't seen from them yet this season well in dewey or dhoni mike samples on the screen pass and he's gonna get loose a nice pick up there definitely trying to get six more involved and it was working although a costly fumble here on an otherwise great night for samples as polly turns it over in the red zone tough turnover for the jackrabbits obviously hoping to build a little more momentum than that but rising from the ashes of that turnover it's phoenix tusa another one of those jackrabbit defensive linemen who stepped up big and ike mikaele the repo man has been living in the backfield this season tucker though looks like he's gonna throw this one away as he's rolling on third down but he dumps it down and finds demonte shallowhorn i'm in the shallow now as he takes this shallow pass and he's running deep mike that's an 80-yard touchdown to make it 14-7 lutzinger kind of out of nowhere in the shallow aloe after polly's drive stalls the defenses back up in mikaela with the big hit and then the gang tackle that is definitely needed uh but this was kind of a bit of a difficult moment for polly here definitely we're not looking for this kind of a start to this game as they find themselves behind and with the defense that is frankly has been better at hitting than they are tackling these swarm efforts very necessary yeah they're kind of like dj khaled mike they got hits but they don't really rap although jeremiah ford comes up and takes care of business as 2-4 lays the wood right there and then back on offense samples is just grinding and as uh loot singer defenders they're trying to stop him but hey shea money he's gonna go over the top that's jason robinson jr an easy catch for a yard touchdown and we're all tied up 14 all the nice thing about establishing the run game it makes plays like that a lot easier then the other direction tucker a huge completion with just 10 seconds left until halftime it was this kind of a boom or bust game for that poly defense it was either a sack or a 50-yard game the other direction uh but they do miss the field goals so the jackrabbits are lucky there and it's going to be 14-14 at halftime second half has not been paulie's forte certainly was not against mission viejo so curious to see how they came out in this one yeah but uh kai kendall got a good job right there hitting his target for a first down uh then where have you gone mr robinson another 27 yard score that is a new clip i promise as polly takes their first lead 21-14 first lead of the season mike that was a big play on that first drive in the second half and then look at depot sitting on this reed option the tongan terror absolutely tucker wants nothing to do with him as he throws up the t right there and that's the team mike a lot of injuries for polly forcing new guys to step up that's joshua noodles cason getting in on the uh on the action defensively he's ever so easty and then shae money bet on him on third and long he's using his feet to pick it up on this one starting to get some rhythm offensively in this game and then you know roll the dice again maybe it's gonna come up sixes dewey does it to him again samples down the sideline for the 54-yard touchdown that's going to make it 28-14 this is what polly wanted to see a physical defense that makes tackles in the backfield and then an offense that runs the ball hard to set up easy deep touchdowns yeah starting to look like the poly team they were looking for and hey he's not a runner he just runs a lot mike samples with a 40-yard scamper up the middle it's now 35-14 samples it was ample from samples tonight 222 yards and two touchdowns as uh he definitely did his thing for the jackrabbits as they took a stranglehold of this game in the second half the dewey decimal system puts the exclamation point on it tyler uh that's a big game from six right there for sure and then the poly defense continued to step up as well their db's down a lot of guys but playing with pride armani wilkson is gonna secure the birken bag in the end zone with that interception right there we mentioned joshua noodles cason earlier he's a running back converted to linebacker for this game malik brown playing defense in this game a lot of guys who went to the other side of the ball and had to step up christian king is going to get in there to make a stop in the backfield really really impressive stuff from a jack rabbit's defense that was looking for that spark yeah jalen johnson almost with that monster deflection and pick but couldn't quite secure it kevontae henry does tack on a score for the olympians as they pull one back but uh kykendall gonna do that stanky leg in victory formation shea had 220 yards and three touchdowns as paulie's going to win this one 35-21 just really needed to get off the schneider and get that first win of the season well uh don't look now here comes corona centennial the jackrabbits face one of the best teams in
