and we must be your life oh now you got the wrong one alright welcome welcome welcome to the very first live stream we do in this channel in the blender Developers Channel my name is Pablo Vasquez I'm not a developer I'm cheating right here but I happened to be with Pillai developer my name is Dolly Flint Oh I'm a blender developer and blender 2.8 and helping the AV project so nice to be here nice to be here so we decided to start with it's not like you don't work just across the hall there thank you for coming all the way we were streaming life it's 10 p.m. on Monday we are streaming live from the blender Institute in Amsterdam so yeah he worked at the same place he works right there so it's it's a bit of a cheat but yeah we decided to start sharing all these exciting things happening on blender 2.8 and on evey especially it's a it's very hype this day we're doing we're doing a few of those small short projects short videos probably so on the YouTube channel yeah and people enjoy it so much we actually did a live string in Spanish weeks ago yes but for different featuring awesome different crew and I know people responding quite well and then the developers are putting so much time and effort on TV I although they developed as well so it's nice to be able to make a milestone from time to time and make sure everyone can be amazed in everything we have to tell here yeah it's really exciting to see everybody using Eevee already like even like a couple of weeks ago when he was so so much less ready I guess at least slower definitely slower yeah so that's very exciting and we hope to make this space its kind of live streams and demos of Eevee and other parts of Leonard's opponent in the future if people like it enough if there's a good response so let us know how it goes so let's get to it otherwise it's gonna be boring um so we have prepared whew blend files already that awesome artists have provided and we have some demos of the first some of the new features and we have some questions from the blog we posted this on the blog and there's already many questions on the YouTube channel so let us know we're gonna first shows them with some some of the files and then we're gonna go through the questions alright so let's see what do we have here we have the this is like the the the this pinochle exactly is what you use like oh yes of course this is this is Evie that's everybody so what is so special about this file is were some on blood donation some time ago right a few weeks ago it's a file from Daniela by stead yes and he's such a good artist so I can't find his portfolio in the internet on tumblr and he did a few non projects he participated on the I forgot a neighbor unity atom project I think yes the demo which was very inspiring for the whole Eva project because it basically made a whole short film with unity in real time and in a way you're not copying anything but it's part of our inspiration and his work is so he's pretty much working in the industry and it's so nice to have him like reaching out to us he actually wrote to Tom directly yeah and I said please she will love your work and then he sent his file and just amazing just you can see how far you can push the system with the right artist and right developers even in such an early stage of Evie so what what do we see here we I think we see many many things we see a little bit of the depth of field for example that some compositing effects I do a little can and about YouTube compression don't let people see depth of field come on can we can we push it further yes first one first up oh no no it's everything okay using the new layer system which we we can spend a whole other media with now it's easier to see how there you go now this is okay you to help us to make it this is blurry and this is yeah of course it's obvious this part is a it's sharp so this is one of the post-processing effects of EB right yes one of many at the time we have for you're gonna have volumetric coming very very soon let's renew Clemens working right now on having these Clemente it for two point eight we're gonna have blown call or in a little bit so there are still things to come for post-processing I mean I just disabled everything right here our they're overridden sorry this is a new overwrite system which I'm still learning basically you have render settings and then you can have override settings which override that then the name says so so this is how would look out of without any post-processing which is still pretty damn good I mean wow and post-processing effects was there one of them is I mean occlusion which I think at the time at the time when he was actually work on it there was no omit inclusion also he didn't even use it yeah they probably baked it or you something like what exactly remember there's a whole lower mo map inch placement map in this file and there's also some some real like spotlight shadowing so you actually don't really need imprint occlusion for these that's nice that you can play of it but it yeah it's nice that you can you can still play with it motion blur it is not animated but if he was animated you will see a bit of motion blur from the camera view right and there's a chip motion blur whose basically only take into account mostly the camera movement and the object movement but not it's not the formation motion blur is it's like in cycles you also have object motion blur which it only takes into account the position of the objects which is very fast and cheap and economic let's now set chief sounds bad it's two weeks of development that is quite a lot much much has changed so I done done and we get new files we get new files yes and even this file you get a look better because now we have the displacement map yes in the live stream I there's a bug in blender in the PSD handling of blender that if the file is packed if that texture is packed with in blender it wouldn't show the wouldn't load so it didn't load the displacement and now it does look at it okay this nice detail actually we were explaining the the stack and I'm gonna remove depth of field for now okay so now we can see look at this amazing for some reason it crashed with the depth of field but it was working and so it must be some combination of things good thing we have the file to investigate oh yes I'm not gonna do it right now but Oh disgusting but in a good way so this mind is mainly like normal maps right and some displacement which gives these little bumps on the side oh the bit more it's this exactly is using all the expected PBR channels Oh so get a base pass you get here this is the metallic no right using a base color which is just the color yes the base texture is called Biddle Alberta Abbey albedo ability no sir no metallic specular some roughness map and emissive colors yeah this is something that is a bit different from principled Englander yeah we have a proper we have a father show this bit better a principled yeah yes because our own cycles the principal material node does not have a mission so if you really want on mission shader and you'd have an emission shader and then have a mix shader' and though the add to add in on top but for Evie this is originally as part of the the same node at the moment but since we're planning to integrate everything within the principal shader we're gonna have when are we going to follow the same principle cycles that's pretty cool so there will be only need for one node in for one now basically yes that'd definitely fire we already have too many notes so to have one node to rule them all the idea of the principal from the beginning yeah it's nice to use the same system for free eve as well yes cool so when when do you think when Kanaks expect this as soon as we decide what to do about this specular node specular but if you look at the materials now in uneven yes we have two different kind of shaders one is a specular the other one is metallic yes and the metallic is very easy to replace with it's principled likely most of this is working already but the specular one is a different pipeline like internally decoded or something different we are still not convinced first if you should have if you should keep it and second how you gonna do it so this is the one thing that's super inventing us from just switch into the principal for everything they look the same for anything they look pretty close awesome great news so the continues is to to wrap up the part of the process stack which we already show we explain motion blur and I had a file actually that was using it the cart from coming on this but I I don't have it right now and then there is a bloom which it's pretty clear this file shows much so well we can just make it so much I know because it is already read and overrides we should display this overwrite some I want to remove the override center em one at a time okay here let's see so the idea of the override is a publish plain briefly but we can have the same scene with the default settings and have different layers so different scene layers which with just a few modifications from the original one then I kind of have these already for samples like 20.78 but now you are expanding these for more and more features yes and then it is actually pretty pretty handy over write for example will allow you to have two objects or two measures or two whatever and then have their completely duplicate their their link completely but you can overwrite like one thing of that for that object my material one setting what anything that is really powerful so you can import lighting from some other project and another right like the values of some of the lights but still keep the original data and touched oh yes it's gonna be great I don't we open the principal file let's open the principal file and there's a question for you but are they reckon we're the recommended system specs to run Eevee what do you need to run in who's asking do we do it see their names yes snail mail games on that YouTube are we only streaming on YouTube when you hundred so what what kind of system do you need any we need a system with a very very fast and graphic card I really didn't know the above yes real good graph card basically so as good as it can be we are supporting what we call up in jail three point three but honestly if your system can support OpenGL four or four point five we also try to make use each of these so there is least I have a minimum bare minimum but if you if you can support more fancy features yes you can have non-blocking sure to complete some some some features they're gonna be better so I didn't answer your question we have a few you know good in good companies in the market yeah go in alphabetical order we have AMD we have Intel we have in VDM that's all the ones I know I know there are a few other ones but these are the three ones yeah the Intel's are yours I still haven't seen a good fast jeep you from Intel because usually using integrated yeah so there yeah so that sure we wanna dedicate a computer for dedicated graphics card yeah that's for one yeah and just something you'll GT you want zero three zeros be good enough Chris I don't know need to check the internet yes now just check your OpenGL version and then if it's it has to be at least three point three three point three yes and above so the higher the better of course but for Eevee at least three point three of course you can use the rest of blender without it it's just you know you're not gonna have that you can't then what do you mean you cannot use blender 2.8 if your computer doesn't support three point three three point three okay but a computer of like five years by the time by the time to point it's gonna be released you're gonna still respect the rule of five years for blender okay the five-year rule I really mean when we really is to put it when we released a finite so for it but in some other shots were for example at the end the word it doesn't really like for example here they get the agent stretches and in this shot the animators weren't doing the actually and switch to the object material yes well you're gonna see that here we have the same inputs elected to the principal node in the metallic node so this is cycles and this is e V yes in the future we will need that the future they will be only one to rule them all but then anything mean why was that's in time you have both you can even add more if you are in blender internal you can actually have two mirror again there it is some reflection because it is a two-step you see the material has been reflexive yeah and then have to have a probe to calculate the reflection yeah that's so cool I like this supported actually if you had QuickTime in a computer quick yeah the techno days and then it's in 2013 we got it using a different library so it works if the file is not packed which was one of the problems we had before yeah so if your file is its unpacked right usually is pack is when you actually put all the textures inside of the file or everything inside of the file but yeah that is pretty and that's have been working for a while normal maps and BAM Maps yet they work normal map works normal map works really nice is always tangent always low like the tangent space normal Maps but is also the standard so yes but it's brittle the moment I try the grid yes it's called creature you know I never know how to say his last name and because I check it out Andreas Corral cheek yeah look at this it's amazing it is so what do we see here we see I think especially about the bloom effect these are particles no these are actual meshes these are as fierce as fiercely all spheres with the yeah this animated Wow awesome Andy thank you that's amazing we could put this file up on the cloud maybe so people can use it not now but eventually ever you ever consider using these for replacing games yeah that it's the under blender game engine the blender game engine yeah well this is this is the viewport so whenever there is a new game engine is gonna use even I mean it looks really good and amazing yeah on the streaming thanks Andy well the thing is the the uh PBG thing with a teammate that was working in a fork of the band game engine is trying to integrate the blender game engine with 2.8 at least integrators Eevee but ideally integrated the new depth graph integrate with the new I know a set manger than you they know everything yeah workspaces so it it might happen that is so cool it is romantic now yeah it's very romantic what happened Howard do you have guys it looks kind of powerful and it's not crazy powerful actually I mean somehow you're the only dog here well no
