let's talk security and I'm not talking about nightclub security seems like in this day and age bike theft is more prevalent than ever and you know when your bikes are costing anywhere from 2000 to 15 000 Euros dollars a pounds I can see why however I can guarantee that if you have had a bike stolen you will be saying at least one of these phrases but am I ever going to see my bike again oh what could I have done to prevent that why me oh bike thieves are the worst it's a good thing for you guys I got a few tips and tricks to keep your bike safe and stop you from feeling the crush and disparity of bike theft hey so am I ever gonna see my bike again we're talking about prevention really so let's get real for a sec here we're riding what's considered to be the future of Transportation so I like to think that most brands have probably got a little security trick or two tucked up their sleeves so good thing is Brands like Bosch specialized great and stalks all have onboard security features like remote tracking remote alarm and locking systems so let's use the latest example here from one of our e-bike Brands so Bosch have released and extended their flowplus app and added something called e-bike protect now that's got some amazing features on it and you know the obvious one is as soon as you turn the bike off it arms it locks it and then that activates this e-bike protect ebike protect will then start to flash and throw LEDs if the bike ever gets moved or attempted to be stolen and more importantly if the bike goes out of that designated area it will send you a text and start to track the bike with its GPS so great so not only that within that flowplus app they've also got something called ebike lock and that's a tool in which you can either use your kiox display or smartphone to lock and unlock the bike's Drive Unit from working so essentially makes your e-bike inert without it and when I said that it's a great system it's not something that comes for free it's something that will need a subscription but it's not too crazy a price it's 4.99 Euros a month or 39 nine euros annually so they did make it sweeter with the first 12 months subscription for free but you do need to purchase a connect module that will set you back around 95 Euros but that's a one-off cost so taking a little step back it's not all about Bosch so one of the other companies I mentioned were great now great we've got something a little bit different to most other brands they've got an onboard camera so it means that you can get a photo of the culprit who took your bike most of us have heard about air tags now we're talking about bikes here let's get bike specific on this one the NOG Scout so the NOG Scout is a bike specific version of the Apple Air tag essentially it uses iOS unfortunately so no Android users but the extras it includes are it fits onto your bottle cage mounts so you can fit a bottle cage on top of there or use the Nifty little security tabs to stop it being taken out you also set an alarm with the app on your phone so if it gets moved it'll start to scream at 85 decibels it's about 50 pounds but honestly this is an investment that really can save you bacon foreign so you might see cars have aftermarket screens and things fit enoxia have basically done the same for e-mountain bikes so they've got a system a bike tracker system aptly named in oxia bike tracker that essentially is the aftermarket version of the Bosch e-protect system so it shares a lot of the same features but there's a few little extras added onto there as well so it has you set proximity fence for the distance in which the bike can be moved out of you also then have full location history so it's essentially a Tracker that remains on the whole time it also has a hot and cold system for being able to when you're in close proximity find your bike and it comes in potentially a little bit cheaper long term than the Bosch subscription so it comes in at 24.95 Euros for a three-year subscription but then to fit the actual unit itself is 150 euros and you know it sucks to get it again it sucks beyond belief but unfortunately there's a bit of a duty to ourselves when it comes to you know covering our tracks and it's an easy one and it seems obvious but don't advertise your bike you know thieves have a Keen Eye for subtlety and I think at the end of the day if you're riding with Strava or kamut or any other app like that you know do yourself the duty and select hide your profile or if you really really have to share your profile with everyone else don't start and end your ride from home it's just basic Common Sense unfortunately and again it comes down to advertising your bike if you're at your Pub your Cafe your garage your shed don't leave your bike out for too long you know at the end of the day it's gonna flag up and someone's going to go well I know where that bike is it's almost as good as having a sign that says free bike here [Music] so saving the hardest question for last what could I have done to prove to prove now this is the hardest question because it's a question that requires you to take a long hard look at yourself in the mirror and realize what part you had to play in this are you upset no you're just disappointed I'm full of story so back in the day we used to get a bucket bag of concrete and a couple of Hoops and that was your ground anchor put them all together and get good to go but it's not that practical really and it can be quite a big space but alas fear not the bike industry has you covered hip lock have got something called The Anchor now it's a-n-k-r I don't know what the trend is for missing out syllables but anyway that's beside the point they've got a ground anchor or Wall anchor for that matter that you use tools to bolt on but once it's locked with your bike on there you can't use tools to get it off it's a great system so bolt it down onto your wall a floor and it has to be brick and stone not wood unfortunately I know you do thread the top on there so once that's all bolted on it's as simple as putting your lock through the hole attaching it to your frame of wheels and that's it done simple safe so it's only half the equation and the locks are obviously the other half we use the hip block there in the example that's great it's a big region chain but I wanted something with a bit more finesse you know that in itself you're not going to be taking with you on the bike if you're out and about so Abus have made the Bordeaux range now I've got the 6500 here it's a cool lock it foldable it's neat it's tidy it mounts onto your bottle cage amounts you can see I've used this one a fair bit to be seen but it's the smaller features so it's got material and metal that are angle grinder resistant and it can only come anywhere from 90 centimeters or 120 centimeters so this in itself is a great for home or out and about use [Music] by thieves but at the end of the day they're going to be bike thieves no matter what and it's going to continue to happen so I think I need to put a really really really really big disclaimer on this video and say as much as you've been given the tools to be able to track and find your bike and regain it in theory don't go on a vigilante Manhunt to go get it back it's really important to kind of contact your local authorities because you can give them all the information the tools to regain your bike but you stepping in is going to end in all sorts and I think with that being said it's really important to understand that prevention is the best cure there's no point in trying to regain your bike if you haven't protected in the first place so thank you guys for watching we'd love to see your comments down below because I think you guys may have some other valuable options or questions about the options I've given you so thank you guys for watching and we'll catch you next time
