Easy partner dance basics Part 2 - Ballroom Waltz Turn

[Music] so we've danced our box step we're dancing with a partner we're moving in time with the music what's next turn it's time to turn the girl absolutely right so Michelle and I will demonstrate what its gonna look like and then after you get really scared when you see that I'll walk you through it slowly mm-hmm so we have a 1/2 the rotation looks something like this 1 2 3 so ladies what's going to happen is we're gonna dance to complete boxes to start all right so let's do that first we have right foot back ready and go a 1 2 3 1 2 3 1 2 3 1 2 3 excellent now we're going to dance half of the third box so we have 1 2 3 which foot is free the left foot is free watch don't do from here you're gonna dance walk walk walk walk side close ok you've got all day long to get around 6 counts all right I mean you could go out have a coffee call mom and come back and you're still gonna make it in time so take your time with it it's six steps so we're gonna start with the left foot first we have and ohh 1 2 3 4 5 6 ok as you're dancing this rotation ladies don't be afraid to move away from the man 1 2 3 so this is a rotation that progresses slightly it's not just gonna be danced on the spot all right let's try this from the third box okay so we have right foot back half of the box into the turn not ready and right foot back 1 2 here we go 1 2 3 1 2 3 which foot is free the left foot is free and we're ready to go back into our box ok so we have two complete boxes we dance a half of the third box we danced the underarm turn to the right ready from the beginning all one two three one two three one two three one two three and here we go we're turning to three one two three everyone have you got it ladies take a break Jonna come on in okay guys here's the good news you don't have to learn anything different with your feet we're gonna do exactly as we did before okay so our footwork as the lady turns we continue to dance the Box step right so you don't have to learn anything new with the feet so let's talk a bit about the lead all right we have here's my first box here's my second box here's half of my third box now what's gonna happen is I'm gonna release with my right arm and I'm gonna raise the left arm slightly and we dance oh one two three one two three under she goes and we join together again guys just because you're thinking about the lead doesn't mean you can stop your feet completely you got to keep the ants in the box if we do that again we have one two three one two there's my first box there's my second box I released she goes one two three one two three can I have the ladies move across in front of the gentleman please ladies you can follow Michelle gentlemen you can follow myself we're gonna try this at the same time but separately okay and let's hold our arms up slightly and pretend that we're in a bit of a dance hold here ready and go one two three one two there's the first box two three one there's the second box guys we released a girl goes under one two three and now if we were to continue with our box the ladies would go forward with not all at once left and the gentlemen back up with the right and we continue one two three ready go Oh 1 2 3 1 2 3 again 1 2 3 1 2 3 1 here's the turn 1 2 3 1 2 3 excellent excellent excellent ladies move across pick a man any man all right and we have from the beginning ready and go all 1 2 3 1 2 3 1 2 3 1 2 3 1 2 here we go 1 2 3 1 2 3 ok as a lady a couple things you want to think about moving on it on a big circle so if you watch once I pick up from this half of the box and one and I have this big circle drawn on the floor could you picture that ladies as opposed to walking around in the center of a little circle I follow the outside of the big circle all right so again I move towards the man on the first step and now I move away from the man 1 and i go side closed eyes up shoulders back centers in now I'm just kiddin make yourself comfortable we have ready and go 1 2 3 1 2 3 1 2 3 1 2 not yet 1 here we go left foot forward girls walk walk walk walk side close I'm gonna give you a chance to try that with music and go one two three one two three one two three one two and the turn one two three one back to the box one two and a round of applause that was perfect from everyone
