[Music] [Applause] [Music] No [Music] - Oh jump everybody what is going on thank you so much for joining my name is Paul Richards we're live every Wednesday 11 a.m. Pacific 2 p.m. Eastern to talk about live streaming video production and video communication technology today we have an awesome presentation and group of guests thank you for joining me in the zoom session everybody we've got a live room call you guys can join Tess is here moderating it but it's password-protected right Tess it sure is so you do need to get the password how do you get the password you can go to ptzoptics comm slash show that's what you are out right that's right so you can go there and you can get the password if you missed it for some reason please do that that's why we email out the password to keep these zoom sessions secure but if you missed it maybe Tess will hook you up with the password we'll find out we'll see we'll see you know you can't can't promise the world here but today we're looking at a simple worship streaming solution so many churches have been using this it's very very simple essentially all it is is using any audio mixer which so many houses of worship already have and plugging it in to the audio input of a USB PTZ camera plugging it into zoom plugging it in to youtube facebook OBS Wirecast vmix this is a great solution that requires minimal amount of Technology and setup so it's a great kind of starting point for a lot of churches so we're gonna dig into that today I want to mention we've got a brand new show every Monday at 11 a.m. Pacific 2:00 p.m. Eastern on our stream geeks channel this is a shot from the show last week we had a ton of people joining our zoom session we had a great conversation with Michael beggarman from Houston Texas area Austin Texas area and his church is doing some amazing things using zoom webinar zoom meetings live streaming OBS and Michael actually gave us some tips on what we should do for our next show and he said hey why don't we cover that USB camera thing and show how we can use that audio input there to bring in our audio mixers and I said that's a great idea let's do that and from there it just led to a conversation about every Monday having a house of worship live stream it's going to be called helping your church live stream a weekly show and where we make the show answering your questions that you have so that next Monday we'll be talking about how to set up your audio mixer so that folks from a zoom conference can actually speak directly into the worship service into your church into your sanctuary and give the pastor two-way communications while also being able to have microphones to hand to people in your church so how do we navigate this area of having local you know people actually worshipping in us in a sanctuary and then folks who are still remote as we kind of lessen the restrictions of social distancing and this new normal of you know staying in contact with remote participants around the world so today we're going to be looking right at this USB PTZ optics camera and the setup is quite simple we are looking at let's see here where's my zqm number nine basically we've got three inputs and I'm gonna unplug them one by one to make it a super simple well actually there's four all in all but we're gonna start with this USB and this is our video so that right there that's how we're getting our video and our video there is really straightforward it's a USB 3.0 connection and if you know a lot of people just use the USB connection and they plug it into their computer and they run zoom or they an Opie S or or YouTube live or go direct to youtube live but if you use the 3.5 millimeter audio input then you can bring audio from your church's audio mixer and combined the video from the camera and the audio from this line and put directly into the USB and plug that in to your system so that's what we're going to talk about today then we're gonna add Ethernet and this is optional you don't have to do it but if you have a network and you go ahead and plug that Ethernet cable in there now we're gonna be able to talk about doing IP control and IP video so that will be our next that'll be kind of at the end of this presentation what we're going to be talking about now couple questions we're getting all ready in the chat room should we join the zoom call yeah join the zoom call it's gonna be fun Viktor why not a lot of folks are already in here you should join the zoom call if you want to it's a great it's a great thing to do Nick Brock's saying he uses ECAM live to stream to YouTube and zoom to broadcast their church services anyone have success live streaming your zoom meetings onto YouTube we will be talking about that today good buddy chad has made it here today yoga magazine is in the house Brian's here Kyle Gunderman is also in the zoom chat thanks for being here all right let's jump into this presentation today so thank you for everybody in the zoom session if you guys have questions in the zoom session just go ahead and raise your hand Tesla unmute your microphone and we're gonna answer questions throughout this whole presentation so that's why we have the zoom session you guys literally have a bug right into my ear now once we plug one of the things I want to talk about too is that this is a super-secret feature that a lot of people don't know about I know a lot of you guys have these PTZ optics USB cameras is that you can control them directly in zoom and a lot of people don't know this so I kind of wanted to show this off so you see right here where this video is that that's actually me right there that's their sleaze this laptop does somebody want to right-click that video and request camera control it's a little button there it says request camera control you can do that and I want to just show how easily you guys can request camera control of a PTZ optics camera so anybody can do it and I just want to show that off really quickly so here it goes Will has requested camera control there go ahead hit admit and now will you can go ahead and control this camera so there will goes he's controlling this camera right now you found me and it's just a great way here let me see if I can get a better view of this so this camera is in control you know from will and so it's actually really fast it's incredible so because zoom is almost real-time I would say it's less than a second but will why don't you tell us what you're experiencing I've lost controls actually so it's no longer under my control but when I turned it to the right it just suddenly went over so that's why I was asking about the lag tendencies oh well that's a good question zoom has basically pretty close to real-time but I'm not sure what happened there may be somebody else requested it but why don't we go through our presentation and we'll take a deeper look at that and we'll try to do some lag testing so with that being said it's a really great feature that allows you to give camera control to anyone in the world and I might need to update the firmware on this this cameras a little bit one of our older USB models but it should work with all the USB models and anyone in the world can control it so if you have a worship leader who's at home who wants to control your PTZ optics USB camera and you're running a zoom meeting you can do it so it's pretty cool we'll also show controlling this camera with an Xbox controller so that actually maybe why I might have taken I might have taken control from your will with this Xbox controller here let's see which one here is it there we go so I can actually use this Xbox controller to control the camera and that is super nice for you know people who are volunteers who are used to using an Xbox controller or a joystick and we'll show that as well today along with our presentation so we got a lot of cool stuff to show off today but I want a high-level look at this and show so what are we doing here so we're talking about taking an audio mixer that might have microphones for voices and instruments maybe an iPod or a CD player that plays music inside of your church that mixer probably is connected to an amplifier and speakers it might be connected to a digital recorder so you can record your worship sessions but then you can take an output from that mixer and this is the important part there you can take that output and plug it into the PTZ optics camera and that will embed the audio into the USB connection which is then able to connect directly to any laptop or computer running zoom and that gives anyone in the world camera control but it also brings all of your audio and video into zoom now it's worth noting this is like a one camera solution and a lot of our worship customers and churches that I work with have like two or three cameras right and when you have two or three cameras then you probably need a computer that laptop is probably running something like OBS or Wirecast or V mix to manage the cameras and we just published a new video on how to connect OBS and zoom and we have an video on how to connect vmix with zoom and I'm about to publish one on how to connect Wirecast to zooom and what that allows you to do is get all those video production and switching functionalities into zoom just like we're doing now and hopefully just to kind of explain that a little more you can see the zoom session here well this right here inside of zoom has all of the video production you know kind of features that basically I have in vmix that I'm bringing into zoom so it's it's really really once you start using it I feel like it becomes really powerful but high level what are we doing we are plugging in a audio input into our camera it's that simple I mean that's really all we're doing here we're just taking this 3.5 millimeter input whoops and plugging it in to our computer it's that simple so it really helps Brian Palmer's asking what's the maximum length of a USB cable and does the length of USB cable degrade resolutions Brian this is one of the biggest issues of USB cameras is that the cabling is very short and that is generally why many of our customers go with SDI because SDI can be run a hundred feet and then converted to USB or you can have an SDI switcher with multiple SDI implants but with USB you're pretty much have to stick with the USB cable that you have there is such thing as a USB extender but I've been in this industry for a long time and I've really had a lot of issues with USB extenders so there's some good ones out there icrons-- makes some good ones but really had a lot of issues with them over the world now this is from Michael beggarman and his church in Austin Texas has been going down this route this is the way that they livestream their services and the next step that they made was they plugged in that Ethernet connection that we talked about so we talked about that Ethernet connection right here and what does that allow us to do well there's some intro things that the Ethernet connection does one if you have an MDI camera you can bring that in directly into any software that supports NDI 2 it also allows us to use apps like this one here which is our iOS app but this is available for Android as well and this allows us to control the PTZ optics camera over Wi-Fi so you get to control the camera in another way but you also have the option for bringing the camera into OBS via ethernet and a lot of churches seem to like that so because you're bringing the audio into the camera when the camera streams to OBS and we have lots of videos on how to do this you can take what's called an RTSP stream into OBS you can use a virtual camera output and we're going to show that today in our presentation you can take that virtual camera output and bring that into zoom so you don't in this way you don't have to worry about the length of that USB cable because you can actually bring the video in to zoom via ethernet and that's that gigabit switch there if you're going to do that ultimately the SDI cameras are probably going to be your better option because SDI cameras support power over ethernet and you can plug that single Ethernet cable into the camera power it control it bring video in over OBS now okay and this is yeah where he's getting to with this presentation we're gonna you can remove USB entirely now the USB is required for the zoom camera control so if you want to control the camera via zoom you got to do that now the next part of this which is something we're gonna cover on Monday but this is something of great importance and I think a lot of houses of worship are interested in this is how do we get the audio from zoom back into the audio mixer so that everyone in the worship shanks where we can hear maybe a question from someone around the world and that would come through the speakers and amplifiers and what that will require is what's called mix - and you know if you have a mixer you know digital audio this is where a digital audio mixer is really gonna come by so that when you open up the audio from zoom to come through the speakers in your sanctuary you may also automatically through a you know a preset on your digital audio mixer you may mute some of the microphones that could cause a feedback loop so that is something that's done in a digital audio mixer a friend of mine Taylor is gonna come on the show on Monday on our stream geese Channel and explain how he does this at his church so this is kind of where the world is moving at least right now is how do we accommodate guests in the church and then how do we accommodate people who are still joining remotely and this is a great way to do it and that is what we're starting to move toward is this this ability to have a mix bus and for example you know right here you can see that we've got you know microphones and instruments coming in CD players and now we have zoom coming in and when you bring zoom audio sources coming in to the you know into the mix the audio mixer with going out to the amplifier you just need to think about what are the open microphones that might loop back into zoom and create an audio loop but it can be done and we're going to be covering this in more detail and upcoming an upcoming show you just got to do a little bit of a wiring diagram and think about that mix - now here is an important tutorial we just published this on our stream geeks Channel and I think it's really worth going over how do we do a virtual camera into OBS and I'd love to know really quickly has anybody else done this has anybody out there and our zoom session maybe actually done this before because I think it's pretty powerful and I'm interested to hear if anyone else has started to use the OBS feature that allows you to okay so Dean is saying yes he's done this with MIMO live we're using V mix right now to do it but there's quite a few options so what I'm thinking is really quickly I'd like to show you guys how we do this with zoom or sorry with OBS and zoom just because it's it seems to be so popular right now does everybody want to see that we could sure and feel free to use the raise hand feature if you'd like to comment and zoom on the conversation as well that's fine too all right cool so let me let me show a quick little look at how this works and we'll go from there yes very excited to do this tutorial everybody there's a lot of crazy information about how to do this and we're gonna do it the best possible way and I'm gonna start with a diagram so this diagram here shows how to connect OBS to zoom first of all we're gonna use a virtual camera and there's a virtual can plug-in for OBS that's gonna allow us to do that then we're gonna take an audio output of zoom into OBS and an audio input from OBS into zoom and those are going to be done via virtual audio cables and we're going to show you how to get both of these now with boom you essentially have a microphone and a speaker and we'll use both of those with virtual audio cables to connect OBS and zoom together let's start by downloading the virtual camera so all you have to do is search for OBS virtual camera and go to the download button and it's going to download it for you and we are going to use the windows computer to do this we're going to go ahead and accept the agreement and install this plugin for for OBS once we install it it will be available in the tools section of OBS and I'll show you guys where to get that so once its installed we can just go right up to tools over here and virtual camera will open up now the cool thing about virtual camera is that you can just hit the start button and it will start outputting anything from OBS into the targeted virtual camera that you have selected you can have up to four virtual cameras which is pretty cool but we just need one and it will ask you how many you want to set up in the beginning but there we go we now have a virtual camera setup now it's outputting directly in to zoom so that is the virtual camera part portion of this but the next thing we got to do before we really get into that is we need to get our virtual audio cables where do we get our virtual audio cables well just type in virtual audio cables into Google and click the first thing that comes up it's VB audio software and this is going to allow you to download it now you do need to download the a plus B which does require a donation any donation that you want to donate to them it could be $1.00 just make a donation and then you'll get a user name and login you can go to your downloads and you can see I've already downloaded this but the A to B is good is is required because you need the in and the out virtual audio cables so copy these onto your desktop and once they are there we can go into these folders and we can go to the a and the B so open up the a go through the setup process you can see I already have it installed I'm not going to remove this and then there is a B Audio Driver as well now now that we have that's those two installed we can start using them so let's look at what it's like to use this in zoom as you can see here we have the audio the speaker setup for to use cable B and the microphone to set up fer cable eh now if you guys remember just to kind of run through this with you here we've got two of these that we need we need to use the speaker output of zoom to come in as a microphone in OBS and then we want to use the microphone input in zoom as the output from OBS that way we can fully have these connected so as you can see here that's exactly what we're doing we have the speaker setup and we also have the microphone setup so speaker is cable B microphone is cable a now once you've done this we need to go into the audio settings of OBS to make sure everything is working properly now you go to the Settings section then you click audio and what we're gonna do here is we're gonna bring audio cable a and B into the settings so that we can use them I've just set up mic auxilary audio one for cable a and mic auxilary audio two for cable B it's really that simple then we go into our Advanced Audio properties down at the bottom here and what we have to do is we have to set up our monitor output so we basically are choosing what do we want to hear through the monitor audio output and that's what we're gonna set up to pump out to zoom the nice thing about this is maybe you don't want to send everything to zoom maybe you just want to send some things to the live stream and some things to zoom but essentially in the settings area we have an advanced area this is in the audio settings area where we can choose cable a to be the audio output for OBS so anything that we set up in that advanced audio settings that we just looked at there that we set up under the monitor option so it's either monitor and output or monitor only will go out to that virtual audio output so let's show this all in action here so I've got OBS on one cupon computer a I have zoom over here I need to just switch this to my OBS camera here let's go in OBS and make sure my virtual camera is set on and as you can see over here I have zoom over here I have OBS when I switch scenes in OBS instantly switches in zoo now here's another important thing here you can tell that this is working because the audio coming out of the audio mixer in OBS is coming in through the microphone here you can see the little levels going up so all you got to do is make sure that you have the right virtual audio cable set up there and then the final part of this is that you just need to go into your sources into OBS and capture the screen capture of your meeting on a second monitor that's really the best way to do that so there we go guys we have done it we've done it can you believe it we did it we captured the OBS video we brought our sorry we captured the zoom video into OBS we're bringing audio and video from OBS into zoom and there's no feedback loops it's perfect so I hope that you guys enjoyed it all right so already getting some questions in the chat that we should answer right away first of all it looks like there is a way to do this with max so I didn't know that so I'm gonna write that down take a look at the code and so Dean's a Mac guy gonna take a look at that can you do this in vmix for us I'll do I'm gonna do a quick show off of how to do that cuz that's what we're doing right now so yes I will show you that right now so let's quickly take a look at vmix and I'll show you how it's done just with this this view right here it's basically the exact same process so with vmix and Wirecast vmix on this side zoom on this side right so got zoom over here vmix over here vmix makes it really easy you don't need to install a virtual camera it's just built into vmix and it's also built into Wirecast so anything that is over here in the output of my V mix will come into my output of zoom from a video perspective and that is just simply at the bottom see here I could maybe just zoom in a hair and you guys can see this a little better at the bottom of zoom right here you've got that little tray and we can select as you can see here I have a mix video selected now the other part of this you guys just saw the video so I think we can probably breeze through this pretty quickly but basically it's the same exact thing here you can see I've got a virtual audio cable B and a virtual audio cable a a is the microphone the microphone is anything coming from V mix into zoom cable B is the speaker so anything coming out of zoom back in to V mix and then really quickly if you guys want to see it a little bit closer up here's my V mix screen here whoops a little closer and I'll just look at the audio settings with you guys so in the settings area we have audio output as you can see here the basically they have look how many audio outputs bmxs crazy one two three four five six seven eight eight audio outputs so basically output a I have setup for virtual cable a and anything I want in my audio mixer to go out a I just clicked the a button so my voice comes out a that video played out a lot of things play out the a bus and that goes into zoom James craft is here add him in there ah so does that make sense everybody is that is that good that satisfy the question you can go into in a little more detail and I do have a full video on it too and we just watched that zoom video on it the zoom the OBS video but yeah ask any questions that you'd like and I'm happy to answer them we're also getting some questions on the YouTube chat you know Pete is here he's just beginning to research and build his church's system you know I think what we demonstrate today is a great stepping stone and I think we kind of showed how in Texas how they were kind of moving along and doing a lot of cool stuff can you do this for vmix yes so we did that for vmix and it looks like you can do it with OBS so we'll have to take a look in on a Mac does anyone have any other questions that we should ask or should we go to the IP control version or portion of this presentation you got any questions jump in guys otherwise I'll go ahead and jump into the IP control demonstration what do you think Tess I'm just looking over Facebook right now and as there's been some questions piling up throughout the presentation I don't know if you want to cover them now no go ahead okay um you know what a lot of its conversation between between attendees okay I'm gonna turn this to speaker view so that one of the other kind of cool things we're doing here just so you guys can see this is I've got I'm showing this single zoom meeting in two different ways so and we're kind of using NDI to do that but below me is the same exact meeting zoom meeting as over here except below me down here I'll either have it set to pin a specific person's video or right now it is on speaker view so whoever speaks will take over that and then over here this is my laptop I have this in grid view so I really like that ability to show everybody in the meeting and then one person specifically in the meeting as well Glenn's here hey Glenn thanks for joining okay so now we're going to get to the point of all right we've got our USB camera right we've got a camera where is it ah oops here okay so this is our PTZ optics USB camera here and we've got two plugged in USB without audio coming into it now we've plugged in Ethernet so we're like let's get some control of this camera and when we plug in that Ethernet this is the SDI version but essentially we now can control it and we looked a little bit at controlling it with an iOS app and that's a really easy way to control it it's worth looking at this app quickly because of how easy it is to use so we don't show this app off enough it can control 8 cameras at the top there now this is available for an iPad for Android for Kindles they all look a little tiny bit different I think if you rotate it no I think if you rotate it on an iPad it changes but with it and the interesting thing about two different ways to do the speeds so the presets you can have go very slowly and then the manual control you can have kind of be a little faster so for example if I set up the speeds here to be a little faster and it save now I can go pretty pretty fast as far as manual controls I could turn it up a little more maybe but when I go in between presets let's go ahead and set a preset then we'll set another one over here see how slow that goes so I have the preset set to go really slow and the manual PTZ to go really fast so however you want to use it you can customize it I know a lot of churches like to have nice slow movements as they kind of grow across the crowd but then again if you want to take manual control you want to go a little faster you know that makes sense too so that is the iPhone app part of it but if you want to use a camera control app I want to show this here is our [Music] camera control app come on there here we go so this right here is the PTZ optics camera control app and this is a really nice way to control and not only control your camera but also view the video from the camera so let's connect to the camera really quickly and the nice thing about this as well is it allows you to control the camera with an xbox controller so you know an Xbox controller is going to cost you like 20 bucks on Amazon but it's really nice to just have it sitting there for folks who want to use the camera just have an X controller sitting out what kind of fun for younger kids I think - but this app I really like because if you set a preset you can name it and let's just say this is pasture and then we'll go to another spot maybe over here a little bit and we'll call this you know like the drums it gives you those little pictures so if you're a volunteer and you know you can just see Oh pastor okay Oh drumset okay and you can have up to six with with those nice little JPEG pictures you can control up to eight cameras you can have the live preview and then there's also an advanced area where you can really you know tweak the pan tilt so that it goes a little faster focus the zoom the shutter speed the modes of the camera all of this stuff is available you can even go into the menu and things like that so wanted to show that off briefly as well because once you get into IP control and are the pictures on the preset button saved I imagine what you're saying is if I close this application and open it back up do they stay I think they do so let's go ahead and open this back up and see getting another question in all caps ah there we go yep they're saved so that works okay I want to go through these questions really quickly are you using two laptops to get the speaker view in the grid view exactly and I have two laptops going they both are connected over NDI which I can show in a little bit if you're interested can the worship service be streamed exclusively remote using zoom meetings so that the worship team singing can be heard all at the same time with no interference would you mind just turning on your microphone and and asking that question to me so I can explain a little I can understand a little better what you're asking there I think I understand but I'm not sure that's for Josiah's correct me if I'm wrong with pronunciation no that's that's that's great my question is that you know when we don't have any system setup at church and we start in streaming service online because of this situation everyone is at the house with their computer or phone all of that and we want to have like a worship put the worship team together and then when they sing hymn we tried that and we see that while I'm singing I'm not coming out at the same time as the other team member so that's what I'm trying to ask to see if there is anything that we can do to have that worship team singing and coming out together that is going to be very tricky I'm not gonna lie that that's a big ask for so zoom now have you tried having everyone in zoom sing together has that been an issue or is it combining the zoom with the people in the sanctuary because essentially you know with zoom it's really meant to be a meeting tool like a video conferencing tool so it's meant to have you know one person speak and then the next person speaks having everybody singing at the same time it's gonna probably have some issues let's be honest I mean even that little green box goes over the person that's speaking and so everybody's singing at once I'm pretty sure you know it's I you know I don't I don't zoom to get mad at me but I don't think it's really designed for that I I'm interested too I haven't tried it and I've heard a lot about it so I yeah because you play music sir zoom yeah and I so Jack Johnson play some music with like a few other people using zoom so I mean I think it's possible I just I don't know how to make it any better than what it is you know yeah I'm gonna unmute Dean hi Dean how's it going good good you know I would be concerned about latency because people singing at different places you're bringing that all together and then sending it back out latency is gonna be a problem yeah I agree I think there there's that is just a very difficult ask now if we're talking about you know having somebody from a zoom I lost audio from you Paul your battery died his battery died he's gonna go get some more batteries Coleman I bet you he can still hear you if you wanted to initiate your question I just wanted to say that I'm gonna I'm on the board of a symphony chorus and you can't sing ever same yeah I've researched this big-time yeah we're getting some comments our Baker said the audio ducking won't allow that to work David is saying that he's tried and it doesn't really work so that could be a challenge with zoom there's not really any kind of online tools unless you do a lot of singing together right that's what I thought and that's that's really where I was thinking and then as a as a backdrop of to that I do think you can you know have a group of people ask for prayer requests you know via zoom to the pastor like that is doable but the singing is is probably neck not going to be what you think okay great well is this app for both Windows and Mac yes it is so the PTZ optics app works for Windows and Mac we're really working to do better support for Mac including our OBS app really hoping to get working and I have some really great ideas been coming in new apps were developing okay I think an example of people singing together on zoom' is the Hamilton collaboration video so yeah I mean you might see some stuff out there but it might be post produced so David grieves I've been in contact with someone who's working to use time codes and buffered syncing to solve that part of the singing issue I'd love to see that yeah and reads you know he's saying yeah pop culture Jimmy Fallon it looks like they're doing this stuff but it's a lot of it's post-produced so okay well if there's any last questions I'm happy to add to them otherwise our new show just about worship streaming helping your church livestream a weekly show every Monday 11 a.m. Pacific 2 p.m. Eastern we're gonna be looking at this setup but more closely into digital audio mixers and how to use your digital audio mixer to bring zoom in to the sanctuary and allow people to do that speaking and so it's gonna be really an interesting conversation I think but if anyone's got any last questions I am here to answer them Thank You Derek you guys are you guys are awesome I love having you guys here Victor had some questions oh we have a giveaway we've got a giveaway we got to do how could I have forgotten all right if anyone wants to enter the giveaway there's still a moment at PTZ optics.com slash giveaway I'm gonna go ahead and pull a winner for that oh yeah you're given people moment to enter the drawing if they haven't I'm kind of curious about your setup how are you for example in the matrix display that you're showing you've got well it all popped around now on my screen but you've got me in the bottom and you had you in the upper left and then you have grid right how are you bringing those two featured blocks on the left side of your screen because inside zoom they're coming and going right yeah and I'm glad you asked that and it this is something that honestly for me it came as a surprise like this is my general layout so it's like me full screen not full screen so I'm like and I think this is great for like a pastor like dirt for the live-streaming portion of this what this is right now is there's a PNG file it's on top on layer 1 layer 2 if you will as me right here a camera and then layer 2 over here is basically a desktop capture and that desktop capture is zoom and grid view but I also use this desktop capture to do to show other things like my PowerPoint presentation so I'm just sitting here doing this and then I realize you know I got a demonstrate zoom really quickly and so I'm demonstrating something on Zoom on Monday and I realized hey you know this is pretty cool I can show everything in zoom with the grid view here and then I've got another computer joined to the zoom session which is right here and this computer actually I guess I meant for that to show both screens has a desktop capture of okay here it is the same exact zoom meeting so on that computer that's a laptop connected via NDI to this production and with this computer I've got the same exact zoom conference going on here but this zoom conference is set up for speaker view and that zoom conference is set up in grid view and I've actually haven't even had this discussion with tests but test as a host you now have control over this so if you were to spotlight somebody you'd be kind of in controlled remotely of that portion of the screen does that make sense I think so didn't we do that Monday yeah we did Monday this was the Monday was the first time that I figured out how to do that and I'm really really enjoying it because you know now I can do like different speaker view and grid view and other things Dean can you hear huh you're muted looks like you oh you got a mute oh there we go jess is doing a good job of keeping the riffraff out so so ii compete so in zoom you can pin a featured speaker yes right so so zoom there's two ways that the screen for a viewer changes one is if it's audio and it's sensitive to that the other thing you can do is as a as a viewer you can pin a particular person which means they always stay on the screen I think the little pictures stay at the top so are you and again I'm squinting because I see myself but on on the Paul Richards screen you have pinned me on your second computer so that the screen capture is that second camera input well I have done that if that's what I want right now it's just speaker mode so it was switching between you and tests as you guys spoke which is pretty nice for like automatic control dependent cuz test is already moderating that but I have done interviews where I spotlight a specific person I think pinning is better because if you spotlight it that spotlights it for everyone and I'd rather just pin it and let other people decide how they want to use it and then with the with the virtual camera to zoom by the way and zoom will get mad at me for saying this but the the video quality right now and the video quality you know just in general is barely 720 so if you screen share something like if I screen share my presentation it's gonna look a lot better because what they do is I think I believe because this is the only one thing that makes sense is that they when you screen share because the quality is so much crisper and better they probably use a higher resolution with a lower frame rate so they give higher frame rates but lower resolution to video through the webcam feature just because of the global bandwidth right now everyone on the Internet zoom servers surging and they're you know trying to you know probably saves them a little money but when you screen share I've noticed and people have told me hey when you screen share it's so much clearer to see your presentation I'll but if you screen share the video and capturing it off a page where zoom thing it's a static presentation but you're actually you've got higher resolution well let's try it now you've got me now you've got me thinking all right you ready to try this now you guys are going to have to be the judge now the easiest way to do this is going to be off we're gonna what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna show basically a full screen on this laptop myself here I'm a screen grab it you guys tell me if we've hacked the system all right and as you said it could be a lower frame rate so that that might affect what you're seeing so tell me tell me is is this it looks a little jumpy it's too jumpy yeah so it's lower frame rate you can talk without moving your lips you'd be good that's funny so I still want to go back to a set up question though so I understand how in this case you've got me in the lower left how are you putting you in the upper left it's not coming off of that's not coming out of the zoom environment right that's coming out local production so that's all that's a local SDI camera yeah um so with that you know that's how we can do you know I think I had like eight cameras here really makes the production value a lot you know more exciting to watch I think all these different cameras and then this one literally it just goes from you know I just kind of squeezes me into a different format to fit you in there right and I think just again just with my production hat on I think something that other people should note and I've had to teach my operators this as well is depending how sophisticated the operator is they might think well we need a big big picture but what you're switching between in those two views is a portrait and basically a landscape or a 16-byte and they need to make sure that you know if I was off on the side of the camera here and I was you I would go away in in that in in that configuration where there's the two video shots on the left or excuse me when if when it's the single video shot when you're in portrait mode yeah and and I'm and we're actually planning to do some really awesome panels as well in the near future we're gonna be like multiple guests and as crazy as it sounds I kind of see having a couple different computers joined to the zoom session bringing in these now the other way to do this as you know Dean and I've been doing for a long time is like I do V mix calls you know Dean you have the ability to do MIMO live calls and you know Wirecast has something called rendezvous and they handle all of the mix - and there's no need for virtual cables and in general it's been pretty good until basically coronavirus and that it was like whoa you know the Internet's really not not liking all these random things zoom is staying alive not to mention the zoom is just so easy every no one has an issue joining zoom there's not a problem so when it becomes mission-critical or it becomes like hey let's just make this work zoom continues to surprise and just deliver so we've been moving to zoom as a better platform not to mention that it can host three hundred people you know which is another big benefit so I've really been moving to zoom so what I'm going to do now is I'm going to pull zoom I'm going to pull I'm gonna pull some giveaway winners so hopefully everyone got a chance to enter that this giveaway I'm gonna zoom out a little bit here okay second enough we got to show the red part I'll come up let me go a
