thanks for joining me on this monday morning when you see me reaching around like that i um adjusting my computer so i can see comments and um watch that screen so that's what i'm doing thank you katie i did have a very nice christmas with my family yeah just lots of fun and laughter and joy and feeling very good good morning patricia so can you believe it we're down to the last four days of 2020 some of you are ready to say good riddance and in some ways i am too but uh i also recognize the fact that this has been um a tremendous year in for me in terms of healing and growth and self-care and those are just a few of the many blessings i have and i'm sure all of us when we look deep into this really difficult challenging year we will find that there are many silver linings and many blessings um but yes i am hoping for a happy healthy new year for myself and my family and friends all of you my uh stamping community so it's been good um just kind of a easing back into work today i took several days off which was very good i missed all of you but honestly not quite as much as i missed as i enjoyed spending time with my family but i am glad to be back here today i did want to just um mention our celebration our biggest annual promotion each year as well as our new mini catalog will both launch on tuesday january 5th i have mailed out catalogs i should say i submitted my list to stampin up who mailed out catalogs on my behalf along with many many other demonstrators and they started sending those out on the 9th of december i'm just hearing now that people are starting to receive those as all of you know the post office is terribly terribly terribly backed up um and i'm sure believe it or not there are more important things than uh stampin up catalogs all to although to us those are precious commodities but please be patient they are on their way um if it gets to be january 1st and you have not received yours or even january 4th you have not received yours please let me know then but let's give it well what is saturday the second i believe 5 4 3 yes january 2nd so if you are a customer of mine and you've made a placed a stampin up order with me since january you were on that list to receive a catalog directly from stampin up they are on their way if you do not receive yours by saturday january 2nd please let me know and i will try to get another round in however i'm just asking for people to be patient because i already did pay for those catalogs and the mailing of them so i hate to be too quick to start sending out 80 100 i don't remember how many i sent 100 something catalogs um so i'm asking you to be patient they are on their way if you did not place an order with me in that time period or if you are not currently working with another stampin up demonstrator i would be happy to earn your business and would be glad to send you complimentary catalogs if you need them you just need to email me your full name mailing address email and a catalog request and i'll take care of that for you but again we are asking for your patience this is only the second time in the pandemic that um stampin up was behind on their typical um two to four days um shipping out um so we're just doing the best we can i'm grateful that our company is doing well and that we're still open and selling and we can ship products but as you know all shipping companies including the post office are really backed up okay today last night i came down here i told emily i'm running downstairs to print some things to work on my schedule and i ended up being down here longer than that um because i i thought well i can't sit here and wait and do nothing while 28 um pages are cop are printed so i started making some quick cards um first of all i need some thank you notes um holiday thank you notes and i i love this sentiment from the poinsettia petals stamp set it says thank you for making this a wonderful season but i just started pulling some cardstock or some designer series paper holiday paper that i had left over that i thought would be appropriate for some holiday thank you notes um and it just turned out the size i typically was cutting from most of those scraps was three by four here i made um a couple of birthday cards as well from three by four pieces of designer series paper here's another one and then this one and i actually um die cut one of the houses from the trimming the town designer series paper and i'm using that for a happiness in your new home card so be sure and take a good look at your holiday papers right now don't assume that you have to put them away or toss them in your storage bin or something like that because many of those you can use for something other than a merry christmas card so um take a look at that now and what i'm going to show you today we're going to be making something similar but i'm going to be showing you what i believe to be the most easy one sheet wonder you can make and instead of making them all the same i will put some twists on those to show you how to use them but i will show you the easiest 12 by 12 one sheet wonder you can make with zero waste okay and today i'm going to be showing some new products while i do that the first of which well i should tell you first of all in the holiday or in the new january june mini catalog this is one of our new bundles the sweet strawberry and i love it because not only does it have the two-step stamping so you get nice shading in your stamped images it also comes with this wonderful builder punch to cut out the different pieces of the strawberry and the stem and the blossoms and leaves so it's fabulous then so that's in the mini catalog then in the celebration catalog or celebration brochure there is a bundle that you can get with a 100 purchase so i'm thinking during celebration january 5th to february 28th why not get the sweet strawberry bundle with that awesome builder punch and add to that to make lots of fun cards and then choose the coordinating designer series paper and berry bloss or berry blessings bundle as your free choice with that hundred dollar order you've got to see this paper i'll be using one of the sheets but i wanted to show you all of it so i just cut some four by six pieces and here's the back a large strawberry print look at this oh i love it this is the sheet i'll be using today so if you're a fruit lover like me you're gonna love this automatically um but anyways so that's my thought behind this i wanted to show you um this quick and easy one sheet wonder plus some new product so let me flip my camera around and we'll get started right now while i'm doing that if you would be so kind as to share click share and you can share it to a group or your timeline whatever you like i would be most appreciative so just give me a couple seconds to flip my camera around so i'm going to set this one aside this bundle aside again that's in our new mini but i'm not using that today i do however i can show you this quick card i made so it uses that bundle but with the dsp that's part of the celebration bundle okay so the first thing you are going to need is i'll just tell you everything you need and then we'll do some cutting so i pre-cut 12 card bases five and a half by eight and a half and they're scored at the center um at four and a quarter inches on the long side then i cut another layer which is five and a quarter by five and a half now this is the maximum number of cards i would make with this one sheet wonder 12. but i'm going to end up making a few less simply because i want to show you some alternates using the same pieces okay now i need 12 pieces of cardstock again this is preparing for the maximum number of 12 and these will measure four and a quarter by three and a quarter inches and you can get six on a sheet now to do that i am cutting two sheets of cardstock at once and the first thing i'm going to do is cut the length to nine and three quarters and i'm cutting to nine and three quarters because three and a quarter inches by three is nine and three quarters then i'm going to turn it to a vertical or portrait position and i'm going to cut these at four and a quarter okay so now i have my four and a quarter inches and i've measured out that these will be three and a quarter inches wide so now i can cut that sometimes i like to show you how to cut the cardstock so that you are getting the maximum number of pieces that you can out of a sheet of cardstock for the size of pieces that you need to cut okay so now i have my 12 pieces that measure three and a quarter by four and a quarter now the last thing i need to cut is my designer series paper i've chosen this one with the blueberries and it's got different shades in here the blues are night of navy pacific point and balmy blue and then the greens are shaded spruce garden green and granny apple green and i've chosen the pacific point is my main color and also granny apple green for my accent color so i want you to cut this in half it's six inches you have two pieces that measure six by twelve now you're going to take those two and cut those in half again vertically so it's three inches so now you have four three by 12 sheets and then i'm going to cut these into four inch by three inch pieces and you want to be sure that all your sides line up well nice and straight and even just like that okay now typically when i do a large assortment of cards i like to do a lot of the assembly first or i like to do all the stamping first in this case i'm going to do um primarily do assembling first and then we'll pull in our stamp set and stamp some sentiments and things to put on there okay so i'm just adding let me put these up here the designer series paper to my pacific point card stock and i could put it right on here like this if i wanted not bad right in fact i'm going to pop it up with some dimensionals again remember i'm showing you how to make different cards from that one sheet of designer series paper where all the pieces have been cut to four inches by three inches so that would give you a maximum of 12 cards that would be using one of those designer series paper pieces per card okay super simple right i can attach a sentiment to that which will do some of those a little bit later you'll also find that this is a very quick fast-moving piece so if you need a lot of cards or you're just in a stamping and crafting mood and you want to get lots of cards done quickly like say for example maybe your birthday cards for the next few months or you need several thank you notes lots of thinking of you this is you know and keep in mind encouragement cards and thinking of you and just because cards we're entering the winter or we are into the winter now and and the dark days can be long and dark um especially with people not getting out as much so just to send somebody a note letting them know they're thought of and that they're loved is so important it's important every day but especially at times when we know people are are prone to maybe get lonely or blue or depressed okay so this time it's my card is the same i just added that splash of bright color in the background oh katie i'm glad you love the colors hi sally happy new year to you hi mary lou marilyn squirker hello thanks so much for sharing katie's here i'm trying to look cool is here hi tammy and dana patricia welcome janie jones glad you all are here on this monday we um i literally well i've done a tiny bit of work a tiny bit of work um over the last four days or so um put this one here but um yeah today i'm trying to get back into the work although emily and i are gonna go out and run some errands she has a return one of her gifts andrea and i both got her the same thing um just a couple little quick errands we're gonna do and um so and also note that when i make these you can if you wait um to add your sentiment and your stamping to later these are great for both vertical and horizontal cards as you can see i feel like that one didn't get quite centered here let me pull it off and try again of course it doesn't have to be centered does it oh by the way i should have shown you my shirt that i'm wearing remind me because what i just did ocd my shirt talks about that okay here is another example so if you were to do maximum 12 cards with um uh the pieces i just showed you how to cut etc uh my screen is just blurry all of a sudden that is very strange hopefully it's not blurry for you i don't know if it's my computer or the camera but anyways um this is the the design the layout that would give you the 12 or even this one the 12 cards now i'm going to show you some other alternates i'm going to add my background of granny apple green if you really wanted to step it up and take the time you could do some tone on tone stamping here of the screen you could also um emboss it with an embossing folder in our stamp and cut an emboss machine okay now here is an an alternate layout for you i know i tend to be straight lines things centered that sort of thing but sometimes it's nice to get out of your comfort zone a little bit and change things up so on this one i'm going to set this piece at an angle just like that and this will still work for a vertical card or a horizontal card okay now on my next card i'm not going to layer those two smaller pieces on top of one another i'm going to offset them and there's different ways you can do that you can offset them with straight lines like this you could do something like that okay just play around with it do you know change it up and there is no right and wrong so many times people will um i'll read something on facebook or a comment will be made to me um you know oh i can't do it like you or somebody else's i'm not that good i'm not that creative and honestly the advice i give to people is just play just play just like kids that's a job that's kid's job to play and be when we allow them to play what happens they learn so what i'm saying to you is play with your crafting materials it doesn't have to be perfect um that's how we learn that's how we um discover by just playing and exploring with the products we have and when something appeals to you and don't compare yourself to anybody else we all start at day one we're all beginners at some point and even after 12 and a half years of being a stampin up demonstrator i still learn so much i learn from my viewers i learn from my customers i learn from my team i learned from other demonstrators okay and you know just be open to change but the greatest thing is just play just have fun and experiment try things out okay so there's another option on this next card and if you have an idea that i have not shared yet by all means jump in and let me know on this next card i'm actually going to use two of the pieces of designer series paper okay now doing that means i will be going from 12 cards to 11 cards but i think it's gonna be fabulous so i'm willing to do that and i'm going to layer my dsp just like that linda i'm so happy you're here and i'm happy to know that you like these using the um multi-purpose glue remember allows you to move things around a little bit okay i like that just like that i'm going to turn it just a wee bit so my corners not sticking out from behind not that there's really anything wrong with that but it's just my preference and it's still sticking out a little bit so i think i'm just going to let it go there we go okay and again you can see it still works for both a vertical and a horizontal card there we go all right now i can make that same card but leave the um i don't know if you know why i'm flipping i'm gonna stop interrupt for a minute here um sometimes i'll fold my card and instead of making this the front i'll flip it over and make the other side the front the reason being and i'm not sure how well you can see this but sometimes they don't meet up the edges don't meet up exactly so if there's a bottom edge showing a wee bit i flip it over and that becomes the back and this is becomes my front so that's why you see me doing that good morning susan i'm glad you're here so now i'm going to make this but i'm going to leave off the granny apple green portion and again i'm using two pieces of dsp so now i'm down to 10 cards instead of 12. remember i told you 12 was the maximum number of cards you could make using your three by four pieces cut from one sheet of designer series paper alrighty who's ready for another layout [Music] okay whoops i'm gonna put this one on and when you're doing something like this um you know there's nothing wrong with having extra pieces cut right if you wind up not using them all that's perfectly fine you stick them back in your stash to use later but i just find like i showed you i cut 12 card bases i cut 12 5 and a quarter by 4 inch layers 12 pieces of the pacific point layer and then i've got the 12 pieces of designer series paper from that one sheet of dsp so here i'm just going to flip this over like this you can leave it like that or you know i love layers they just make it fun and look how quick this is going it's not even 11 30 yet and this is with me doing lots of talking um that includes my intro before i even started crafting i did have much of my card stock cut ahead of time but again this is the simplest one sheet wonder you may ever do although i have a few more up my sleeve too but one of the simplest one sheet wonders you'll ever do and you can just mix and match and change things around a bit and come up with some fun creative cards all right um another one i have thought of right here is doing something like this although i think i might like it better this way yes so i'm going to add this piece of dsp i love it too that our designer series paper has two different patterns on each side it just gives us you know double the opportunity double the choices we have which makes creating that much more fun hi cecilia katie that is correct the pacific point layer is a quarter inch larger than the dsp so the dsp is three inches by four inches and the pacific point layer is then three and a quarter inches by four and a quarter inches great question and again when you cut these you can get when you cut three and a quarter by four and a quarter you can get six from a sheet of eight and a half by eleven cardstock i try to cut things that allow us to maximize paper a lot of times not always but often oh susan if you've been wanting to try a one-sheet wonder this is a super easy one a super easy one i love one sheet wonders however um i do find that they can be more time consuming and so it just really depends how much time i have but also it's a lot to keep track of because as you're cutting all the different sizes and shapes from your one sheet wonder you have to keep track of them and then be ready to use them in different ways or if you're following um card sketches with that one sheet wonder it's a lot to keep track excuse me a lot to keep track of but this is simple so you can do this or you can do that um i'm not sure which i like better i guess i could do both right it doesn't even have to be right in the middle either it could be you know especially if you're making a vertical card it could be down at the bottom it could be all the way at the top you can decide how you want to place that sometimes even just such a small change like that can be dramatic can be interesting and could give the appearance that you've made a totally different card and we will be adding some sentiments and stamping to these actually i'm thinking make this a vertical one so i'm going to go just a little bit higher maybe so not quite centered of course you can add all kinds of fun wonderful ribbons and embellishments as well um let's see here could also do something like this i'm not sure if i'm loving that this one i'm just kind of playing around with a little bit not feeling it oh how about this how about something like this yeah that works for me katie you're welcome please everybody always feel free to ask questions because chances are if you have a question somebody else has the same question and if i ever miss a question during the live um you know maybe re-ask it at the end oops i should have flipped that over because my layers are a little off there i forgot what i was oh here it is this is what i was going to do so that was gonna i almost forgot what i was doing so this i'm just going to center and then this one i'm going to adhere across like that okay so i have that as another so let's just now i do have some extras because remember on some of the cards i used more than one piece of designer series paper not all of them i use the back on and not all of them i use the layers on but that's not a problem is it to have some pre-cut card bases and layers that i can use for future cards so to recap what we just did before we add sentiments i showed you how to cut your whoops where's the one i wanted i showed you how to cut your designer series paper to three inches by four inches and that will give you 12 pieces of three inch by four inch dsp then i also showed you how to cut your eight and a half by eleven card stock so that you would get six pieces of three and a quarter by four and a quarter card stock for each sheet i cut two sheets today for this demonstration so and then you can add an extra layer or you could even change out the color of your card base but using uh one of these two layouts you would get 12 quick and easy cards made and of course you would want to add a whisper white or neutral for the inside or maybe even a very light shade like the balmy blue or a light shade of the green and then i also showed you some ways to just change them up a little bit like that one just turn it on an angle super simple here i instead of layering those uh the dsp and the pacific point layer i spread them out okay here i did not back them but i used two pieces of designer series paper um one up front side and one reverse side here's pretty much the same thing without that splash of color on the background you know maybe add a splash of color with some ribbon or an embellishment or your stamping okay this was the first uh just like that one of those first layouts i just flipped the designer series paper over again trying new ways to maximize our designer series paper there's another layout using two pieces of the dsp but opposite sides and then here's a final card which again pretty much all of these you could use horizontal or vertical so i just made two four six eight nine cards very quickly okay and now it's easy for me to do add some stamping to these so let's go ahead and do that um we have this wonderful photopolymer stamp set and grab some um and i had these already cut i cut them wrong for a different project so i saved those um so let's just you know play around with the stamping i have um pacific point ink and granny apple green ink ready okay i'll put those side by side and then let's see there's all wishing you the very best bountiful blessings you always have a way of making my day don't you love that that's a nice way of saying to somebody you know i thought of you today and thinking of you makes me happy so here's something i can do this is a little bit large but that's okay i have some scrap paper right here so i can cut this cut it down to two inches by one inch it's a fun way to use up some of your dsp scraps or um oh i kind of wish i put that on before i stamped or at least laid it on let me try that again but sometimes my mind doesn't work that way i went to stamping first i wasn't sure what i was going to add to that there and now i can add this so there's one i don't necessarily even have to match them up to the um what do i want to say to the did you use a punch for your sentiment piece yes this end was cut um i cut two inch strips and they were originally i want to say four and a quarter yes four and a quarter inch in length and then i just used our banners triple punch because you can cut widths of two inch one and a half and one inch okay um this is a one inch strip i'll go ahead oops i need to open it up first don't i this is a wonderful go-to punch wonderful go-to punch i use it so so much um and what's another stamp here how about wishing you the very best now don't forget there are you know all these wonderful berries and leaves that you can be stamping as well um but today i was showing you a quick and easy way to make a bunch of cards but you might want to um do more stamping for these cards or other cards which is certainly encouraged as well i'll put that one right there sometimes too i will just have a set of cards like this with no sentiments on and then i'll have them ready to use um and add any sentiment at all um for whatever i might need does that make sense okay so there's one let's put this guy on something i'm gonna put him on let's see i'm gonna put it on this one just like that did anybody get anything um any kind of crafting supplies for christmas or the holidays maybe you celebrate hanukkah or or a different holiday other than christmas okay so there's one actually i might want to move it over i want to see what it looks like over here nope i like it that way better okay it would be cute to have some embellishments there or maybe some stamped blueberries trying to get this straight all right how about um oh we could do this too you have this here i'm going to make that a little smaller you can also turn these banners in the opposite direction instead of having them go in a horizontal horizontal position you know what i'm going to change this up to the granny apple green i love having my simply chamois right next to me um here it is i have it in a little plastic case next to me at all times so that makes switching out colors for my stamps quick and easy let's see here how about on this one i'll put it on this one [Music] so that is an idea um katie you were asking about these um banner pieces that i already had cut like i said they were for another project and i cut the wrong size so i figured i'll hang on to them and i can use them sometimes oh cecilia wonderful isn't that fun somebody gave you money and you can pick your own fun crafting supplies okay i did not get any um stamping um gifts but of course i would not expect that because my family knows that's what i do and whatever we could move this around a little bit too i'm not sure where i want it i think i'll go with what i had um but i did get a crafting gift you know sometimes i think i just need a little break from what i do all the time i'd like to say that i work this job 40 hours a week but that is not true i work at more about 60 hours on an average week and sometimes and i love being creative sometimes i just need a little bit of a break from what i'm doing every single day um so i asked emily did a year ago when she was home on her school break she um did a paint by number of a scene from um the country greece and i just thought that was sort of cool so i asked for a paint by number kit so emily got me one for christmas it's it's beautiful flowers and pinks and oranges it's it's going to be fun fun fun um so i'm looking forward to that i did have a number of husbands buying stampin up products from me this year as well as some daughters and i sold a number of gift certificates so that's always fun hi diane i'm glad you're here okay so for something like this um i think i'm just going to add some small banners [Music] cut these to about i'm going to cut these to three inches um sentiments are also a lot of times it's just fun and easy to um whoops stamp and punch sentiments as well oh susan craft storage cart with 10 bins are you in heaven have you filled it yet you know this is that time of year we always feel like we have to get reorganized and i'm trying to do some of that down here although if you saw my space right now you wouldn't believe that but it's true that's wonderful and honestly the more organized we are um the more we efficient we are with our time no matter what we're doing so i love that awesome gift did anybody get anything handmade anybody get anything handmade i got a gift um it's i in fact you know what i'll show it i'll try to remember to show it on my next facebook live but um it's not exactly handmade it's a metal timer it has a little handle on um and it's kind of like a a steel color i'll say but it's a metal timer um and on the top was a little white ice cream cone um put on with cricut and then a round of number 15 on the timer was a little heart also made um on the cricut i'll have to remember to bring it to my next live and show you but my niece came up with this idea and she and my daughter andrea made it for both me and my sister but it represents my mom a memory from my mom when the kids were younger and my mom was still living she would always have them over and her favorite was maui's ice cream in cleveland and she lived like a mile from o'malley's ice cream store so she would always have mali's ice cream in the house but it was too hard for her to dish out as soon as they took it out of the freezer so she always set her alarm in her timer in the kitchen for 15 minutes and told the girls they had to wait 15 minutes for the ice cream to get a little softer so she could dish it out so that was a fun memory with a little bit of handcraftedness added to the timer so that was a fun gift lots of homemade cards so that was wonderful i'm always so grateful um for people who re remember me whether it be christmas or any other my birthday or any other time of year it's just a wonderful thing i got lots of cards out this year unfortunately i did not get out all of the cards that i wanted to but at some point i just had to let go and say okay i did as much as i can do and that's all i can do and it's family time and but i always feel a little bit bad if i feel like i miss somebody okay so there's those and then um you know and then i've got the rest that i can continue adding sentiments to so um i'm going to end right here i'll finish these up with some other sentiments i'm trying to think what if i what didn't i use here the bountiful blessings and of course i didn't add any of the berries which i might want to do yet um so just a fun recap cut that dsp to three inches by four inches cut some cardstock layers three inch three and a quarter by four and a quarter um as well as um a five and a quarter by four inch layer mix and match play with the pieces and create some really awesome cards oh that's a great idea jamie yes um i'm all about the you know thinking of you you're on my mind type of cards um and you know what honestly i think people get just as excited about those as they do receiving christmas cards i think your new year's cards are great idea people want to just know that they've been been remembered no matter what the time amy says she received let's see let me go oh let's see the shirt okay i will do that let me catch this i think i missed a question too i got a cardboard cup holder with a cup homemade hot chocolate balms peppermint spoon two cookies was decorated dsp and then the coordinating stamps awesome these are great sentiments aren't they i do love them hello julie thanks for sharing i designed a letter a in my
