[Music] Southie Misano hello everyone and welcome to the seventh race weekend of the DTM season 2018 and we are absolutely excited to be here in Misawa in Italy because for the first time in the history of GTM we are racing by night and despite the weather conditions earlier on when it rained instead of dried up and we're excited because the atmosphere here is phenomenal and in fact the Italian songwriter and rock star Janna Nannini had a concert here let's have a look [Music] and I'm here with a pool set up all do Resta so phenomenal are qualifying for you and now you excited for the first time ever we're racing in the DTM at night it's going to be quite interesting it's obviously dark as well we're gonna have to say that already in the wet conditions going from dust to night it was quite tricky visibility was hard to give myself a best chance at the front but nail under starting these conditions is key we've took the three points for quali but it's over to this race now and you know for sure people are going to be aggressive I think we need to tactically be right and at the end of the era's race hopefully were near the front and we can be satisfied with the result would take some points away from what happened last week and all we wish for over is you know the healthiest recovery he's a strong guy I'm sure he's got the best care but more importantly we want to see him get back to fight food and doing way he loves dude and you know he's a racer he takes risks you know the recent can be cruel sometimes but I just hope for his sake you know he get them back and you know he can come in at least visit us and see us and see what the support is for the DTM team who is behind him so get well Robert and best of luck for the race falling back to you thanks very much marina and we very much echo those sentiments get well soon Robert Wiccans here we are then Misano the world circuit Marco Simoncelli then in the dark and Alex Zanardi of course guest starter for BMW what a fantastically humble man he will be starting in that car car number 12 which has been specially adapted by BMW in our thanks to BMW and also for the DTM for allowing Alex Zanardi a guest start here at Amazon Oh fantastic the BMW m4 DTM his qualifying time were one 50.57 one just tenths behind Phillipine going from p18 on the grid and there indeed is filly bang the BMW driver that will be just ahead of Alex Zanardi on this starting grid as Paul de Resta alluded it was very wet for qualifying but beginning to dry and hopefully it's going to be dry and still further for the race Paul de Resta we've heard from already but let's go back to Verena right now and I'm here we've gonna get asked starting in p3 so pretty good start obviously for the race is starting in p3 it dried up as well but what are you expecting for the race I mean it was tough in the qualifying earlier it's gonna be a tricky race for sure we will see if it doesn't start raining again we will see some tire changes on slicks it's feels already not too bad on slicks I still have an hour to go let's see I think we can see some early stops on slicks but maybe some later stops I have no idea but it's gonna be a tricky decision as a driver when you when you pit for slicks black linear back to you well it is a confusing situation being told by you some of my spies down there on the grid that some of the cars already on slick tires Marko VIP man a qualifying that wasn't his best that's for sure and Marko Pittman will be disappointed going from P 15 in the BMW that for the two-time DTM champion there another rookie in the TT M is so Joel Erickson like his teammate Philip egg Joel Erickson going from P 16 on the grid so what control Ericsson deliver here at this circuit so Timo Glock the best of the BMW drivers is with Verena now and I'm here with Timo Glock Timo now in the beginning of the season or the first half it was going really well for you now in the last four races you've only collected 11 points so do you have an ace up your sleeve how are you gonna catch up yeah how many we need to try to keep the pressure on I mean we've been unlucky in the last four races so um just need to find a way to keep the guys on the pressure at the front like we did today in qualifying and see what we can do but it's not easy I mean the Mercedes are very strong as a as a group as a package and just need to try to keep the pressure on and do our best the best job we can and and see what we what we can do best of luck Timur thank you very much and back to you he could very much be a danger man going from p5 on the grid here's the grid in full for you in voice and animation as well pull the rest a pole position alongside him Eduardo more Tara goes from p2 on the grid Rene Rast the best of the Audi's going from p3 alongside the British star that leads the driver's championship Gary Paffett going from p4 then we find Timo Glock and Lucas our who are sharing the 3rd row of the grid here in Misano under the lights Mike Rockenfeller and Pascal Fairlane we'll go from the fourth row of the grid p7 and p8 without Gustav office the Brazilian star and the Spanish driver Daniel young kadia p9 and p10 Nico moola and Robin fri'nds P 11 and P 12 of those two drivers and then we see Bruno Spengler former DTM champion of course weird Lloyd to Val alongside MP 13 and P full team Marco Bettman two-time DTM champion P 15 Joel Ericson the rookie for BMW P 16 alongside with Jamie Greene P 17 Philip Angus at P 18 and then of course our guest start up Alex Zanardi from P 19 on the grid that's the way it looks for Misano under the lights in the dark and the team standings after 12 of 20 races as you can see mercedes then with the top three spots at the moment ahead of BMW and Audi are p6 without a sport team Rosberg on 88 points but the 261 points that the Mercedes AMG motorsport Petronas team has he's a very dominant here is Robin fri'nds then going from P 12 on the grid the netherlands-based race and his qualifying time a 148 one one five and he is going from P 12 on the greatest we can see Nico Muller then preparing for the start of the race Nico Muller goes from P 11 he is Audi rs5 DTM then delivering a time of one forty seven eight so as you can see wet weather tires off slick tyres I made the point earlier on that during the qualifying session which it was like storm conditions that because of the ambient temperature although it's later at night this track dries out very very quickly absolutely that's delighted to have alongside us the legend that is a Tom be a G welcome Tom I know your English is not brilliant but it's great to have an Italian racing driver alongside me you know this circuit really really well some drivers taking the gamble going on slick straightaway is that a gamble or is that a wise choice do you think for sure the track is gonna drying quickly but what will be very slippery is our the curbs and the grass and you know we are in Misano you have to use it a lot too to follow the best line to find the best line as possible so overtake maneuver will be not easy okay well we're gonna find out very soon and Misano circuit Mehsana of course right by the adriatic coast here we send some of our DTM race taxis into the beach area of Misano as you can see and they created quite a stir among all the holidaymakers then as they lit up the real Hills of our DTM race taxis one from Audi one from mercedes-benz and of course one from BMW as well and there you can see Mikkel Jenson posing with us some of the race fans there and this is what he's absolutely great about DTM let's put on a show and because you'd have loved to have been driving one of those through the streets of Misano wouldn't you is a great show and all the people from Riccione Misano yes they love it a lot that is this show and is good to bring the motorsport to the people more close to their fans I agree and that's what DTM is all about there is Timo Glock in the BMW and of course I've known you for a long time Tom and of course you've raced many many things international jTA's international superstars of course what I didn't realize was that at one point you did have a test in a BMW DTM car yeah was one of my more important experience in in career and I regret I couldn't make at least one season but in 2013 because I've been the best BMW driver I want the the BMW trophy thanks to GT Italian championship in 2012 so I had the chance to drive the m3 the BMW in Valencia yes 66 laps and there was amazing world experience this is a Mehsana then the province of Remini with some 335 thousand residents and it's a truly beautiful place in the coast is absolutely lovely I regret to say that the busyness of this DTM weekend has meant that I have not been able to dip my feet into the water yet but I certainly plan to do that at some point and as this circuit goes from day to night and the floodlights come on in prospect a phenomenal DTM race 55 minutes plus one lap as these cars are about to be unleashed around this fantastic circuit the race fans have already enjoyed a fantastic concert and now they're gonna see some real red-hot race action as well as the DTM cars are about to be unleashed what a sight that is here's the grid once again in graphics pulled arrestor a narrow motor are going from a p1 and p2 then it's running rest and a Gary Paffett then rest of the Audi's for any rush splitting that Mercedes domination the front rows of the grid then it's Timo o'clock the best of the BMWs with Lucas air and Mike Rockenfeller and Pascal fair line what a shot baddies that the moon behind us out gusto far first and Daniel young coderre Nico Muller and Robin fri'nds and then we find Bruno Spengler and Lloyd to Val Markovian and Joel Erickson I go from row 8 of the grid and own row 9 we find Jamie Green Philippine and then wrote an axe and Noddy although I am being told that Jamie Green may not be taken up his grid position because of a display problem which means he'll either start right from the back of the grid Thomas or from the pit lane now as a racing driver that's kind of yeah nightmare isn't it not being able to take up your grits ball yeah yeah for sure he's in a race so suck tough like that is a nightmare for sure definitely so Jamie green then going from the pit lane so his race is compromised perhaps already so well we will see what he can deliver from they're feisty British racer of course his Jamie green and he will do his level best that's for sure season as perhaps not gone the way that he would have liked it to do but we can we will see what will happen as we look at our pole sitter in Paul di Resta did it in qualifying and he was the only driver and Thomas as you well know from DTM the differences between P 1 and P 18 on the grid some time he's just tenths or 100 this time Paul direst I found four tenths between himself and eduardo moreira it was a really really impressive qualifying display from Paul direst oh yeah for sure he managed in the best way with this condition of dark and heavy rain in the meantime it did extremely well and he achieve a fantastic pole position does it give you a boost Thomas when you've done a really good qualifying session cuz it you know and you're starting from pole position do you go to the grid thinking I've got this in the back you know when when you start in poor position you did the 60% of the job in my opinion ok it's very important and especially it's very important to pass the first corner in first position yes and when you have clear circuit in front of you nobody in front you see very well hell in front of you is is good is good feeling well Boulder Esther has done the hard work in qualifying as Tom biaggi alongside me as I indicated 60% of the job perhaps done just a hearing confirmation that Jamie Green will be starting from the pit lane it was a problem with these ddu display which apparently has been sorted but it does mean that it will be a pit lane start for him for point 2 to 6 kilometers this Misano circuit slick tires there on the number 23 car over Janka daya and the cars are just beginning to be started now so the formation lap is not far away we can feel the tension and the excitement already begin to build around the Misano circuit and there is our pole-sitter and that is appalled arrestor of course p2 in the driver's championship at the moment chasing down Gary Paffett who is leading the championship of course he's going from the second row of the grid so Gary's certainly going to be up for a fight here and there just as we were indicating Jamie green will be starting from the pit lane in the number 53 Aldi so Jamie green down a pit lane start all the other cars lined up on the grid and about you but this is something very very special night time racing night time is the right time for DTM in Italy we are in Misano and you can hear the engine no rise as the cars are away on their formation lap there there is Gary Paffett Timo Glock there is lucas arrancar number 22 Mike Rockenfeller lights up the back end of the car we love to see that grip is going to be challenging as thomas has indicated if you go off line it's gonna be still very very wet on the grass but if you can keep it within the white lines on the tarmac maybe you're gonna be ok we run through the grid once again in graphics you can see how the grip is really challenged as Mike Rockenfeller is sliding that car around the first sequence of turns here Amazon oh and will try and pick out what drives are on the slick tires and what drives are on wet tires its academic they've all got to do the mandatory pit stop of course at some stage within the 55 minute surplus or one lap for a mandatory tire change well has the gamble been the right one to be on those slick tires it's a probably only now when the drivers are on this formation lap Thomas isn't it when they can actually ascertain what grip they've got this is what you use the formation lap for isn't it yes also it's very very important for especially for the driver does fitted a slick tire to warm up the tire to try to warm up as more as possible and to keep warm the tire and break for forever the best performances to have the best performances in the first two left to three laps aware for me the driver fit the slick tire they will have to fight a lot in the first in the first part of the race in the first three four laps chase Thomas thank you very much so absolutely critical then is the warm-up in the drivers standings as you can see pull the rest of chasing Gary Paffett in the drivers standings Gary Paffett going from p4 paul der esther did it all in qualifying it goes from p1 then we can see the Rene Rast car as we go into the Audi carriage now with TT gas the head of Audi motorsport to the right-hand side of your picture there they always look pensive and nervous right at the start of the race of course and the best of the Audi drivers Rene Rast the current DTM champion that's what it's like looking inside the car Rover Timo Glock and a Timo Glock the best of the Beemers then as he lights up that car going towards his grid box and there's jens Marquardt the boss of BMW motorsport to the very right hand side of your picture and there is our pole-sitter alder esta now pulled arrestor I can see from the blue he's on wet tires okay so well all the rest are is opted for the wet weather tires for sure the drivers on wet days they would feed the tsundere early on yeah okay well we are just moments away from the race starting early Fritz from mercedes-benz and inside the Mercedes Kara's Jen's Marquardt for a BMW and dieter gas then for Audi we are about to get the race underway so we await the final car to come into the grid box and that's gonna be Alex NRD our guest driver we are so thrilled that Alex Zanardi is with us on the grid here Jamie green from the pit lane goes out on to the grid and falls in right at the back of the grid pull the rest of right at the start we get the green flag from the marshal at the rear here comes the start sequence when the lights go out we will be racing and a porter rest up well he locks down a little bit Eduardo motoric is run alongside him Gary Paffett on an absolute charge going into turn number one and almost makes it work but Paul arrestor hangs on he and Eduardo Mort are and now Gary Paffett moves into p2 potentially you can see on parts of the track having eased drying out but pulled arrestor to be fair he bogged down a little bit at the start but then when he got the grip he got away okay so the rest of the cars come through now if we can get through the first lap without anyone falling off I'll be somewhat amazed it has to be said the best drivers in the world in DTM of course but we are in very very tricky conditions but it's Paul duress to p1 Gary Paffett p2 Eduardo Mataura is p3 ready rest is a p4 and under threat now from Lucas Aaron Timo Glock on the inside in the BMW and a Timo Glock goes through ready Rosco's out wide was there a little touch between the two of them Mike Rockenfeller trying to get alongside Lucas our so Tom Biaggi in the early stages of this race there's a lot going on isn't it yeah yeah because the the level of grief of the track the the very low level of grip and give us a lot of show for sure here we are going here today to the most fastest part of the track the cool Borna corner we see that the Dead Cara and also we see also the spray a little bit that there is a little bit of spray absolutely which affects the visibility of the cars behind us some cars run wide there and that Timo Glock taking advantage well he'd already taken advantage of the fact because he was passed when he rats and now Lucas our goes past as well we're approaching the final turn here let's put the first lap in the book we go on board with Rennie rasters a big loser he's brought back down the order so to rest a leads from Gary Papen yellow Mataura is a p3 then it's clock our grasp rocky my covet man Niko Muller and Pascal valine rounding out the top ten tom Biaggi I'm absolutely amazed in these really challenging conditions we didn't lose anyone through the first lap and that surprises me because it's tricky out there isn't it yeah yeah you're right they're specially because as I told you in there here we see every calves are going really wide on that corner you see master over the curve in the here there is a contact that we saw yes that's Caroline and Mike to viola yeah and they really did touch that and then yeah there is a big fight that we see we see the line was controlling the car with the steering wheel maybe has been touched so here Lloyd - violin Pascal fellow and go side by side once again just ahead of them is Robin frying Spassky over life just gets ahead of the light - Val car car number 28 I think I saw some bodywork flying off the Lloyd yeah bow car as well so these are the fights that are going on a little bit further down the order Lloyd - vowel is a p12 and his standing in Kottayam Robin frien's and Pascal fair line of course who's in that mix as well so it was Pascal fair line on Lloyd - Val where we saw that a little bit of contact so remarkably after lap one no one coming into the pit lane straightaway which perhaps surprises me but all the rest of hers he's what he's done here he's built a margin of six tenths over Gary Paffett Gary Patrick did a brilliant start here comes mark over it Minh side-by-side with Mike Rockenfeller ease Marco bemmon it's a long way around the outside bar Marco binman go supreme confidence in the B w news put himself ahead of my rockefeller nice menorah nice menorah especially using the grass that this deal is is very damping that there is a slow level of grip but you see also how is fighting with the rear with the oversteer and he did extremely well but still there is a good fight yes Mike Rockefeller is trying to come back at him here is once again they go side by side this is the fight for P seven rocky on the inside of Marco vet many runs reitman out wide Whitman almost touches into the gravel rocky does go back ahead of the BMW what a fight that's going on for P seven in this race so remarkable stuff so all the drivers are holding it together earth and Bowman but they're really really challenging conditions out there Niko Muller is trying to get involved in this as well because of course Thomas once to cast are fighting the advantage could go the way of Niko mother he's got himself passed and so too is Robin fri'nds and isn't that a problem Thomas when you start fighting you almost open the door for the cars that are behind you you are excellently right and something when you start to fight the you you will put the car behind you to come up and to get you and is is very tough DTM is giving us a very very very great show thank you Tom Biaggi who delighted to join us on the air that's to be said that he wasn't altogether sure of doing it he said his English language he would struggle that you're doing a great job with us you really are Paul arrestor is leading the race and Marco Beckman now is under some pressure this time from Nico Muller who light Robin frines took advantage of the fight that was going on Niko Muller then on the inside around this final turn Markova Matthias got good momentum out of there Robyn France is he gonna be able to find a way past Nicole Miller of course they're both Audi brand mates the sparks fly off the bottom of the car this is fantastic at 90 looks great like - Val and Phillip bang are the first two drivers to come into the pit lane but this fight between Nico Muller and Marko bitman is continuing in my opinion Whitman is in difficult with the diary it looks like as a lot of oversteer like eva is the car is moving on the rear a tire pattern so in my opinion stupid early okay so next laughing we think the marker paper will come in now when you're running on wet weather tires and the track conditions are not where you're searching for water on the track to keep those tires in that temperature window on you you are absolutely right but in that condition of the track is difficult to find some water okay cool down the tire and Whitman in my opinion is suffering of real tire pressure and temperature so it looks like the car is moving as I as I told you all on the pattern of the wet tire it what we see from the TV is absolutely there okay so Nicola has gone through on Marco Pittman and Thomas's indicated probably the chances are the Marco people will come in at the end of this lap to try to get those two I sold it out because at the moment mark of a man you can see is a really struggling with the I think it's the trade bloc's isn't it Thomas start moving around because they haven't got the coolness of the of the wet exactly but he's off yeah we we saw him in a in the difficult situations in the difficult condition and now it came to the pit you called that exactly right so in comes Marco Pittman also any said Oh matara and a Timo Glock look at the all over the windscreen at the animal Tariq our car ahead of him must have been on the grass must net in churn that all up and thrown that onto the windscreen of the arrow more Terrica we run the clock on the Timo Glock car in three seconds he's all those will stop and of course he has to wait because Jamie Green is coming to the pit lane as well you cannot release a car into the fast lane of a pit lane you get done for an unsafe release if you release the characters are for someone else yeah yeah anyway most of the cars are on the pit lane and our forecasted after they should literally was a was a pretty good because the condition of the track is damp about the dry so that there is no no way to run on the on the wet tires so pull the rest of then who is currently leading the race and he's got 1.1 seconds over Gary Paffett at the moment Gary Paffett running in p2 pulled the rest of leading the race Lucas Harris p3r any rats relegated of course to p4 then it's Nico Muller Robin frying standing your khadiyah Vasco Bear line Augusto farmers and Mike Rockenfeller so here we can see a situation and that was where Marco fitmin well whether there was a touch from Robin frying or whether it actually came from the car behind whether there was a little tap and there was like a no I think it was from Robin fri'nds wasn't it and that's where Marco Viet Minh around so you can see the disappointment in the camera ya ever receive a little such but in a place where he lose a little bit of weight on the rear of grip due to the touch and the loss of the car I just saw Thomas Paul di Resta and Gary Paffett I can't say for sure pulled arrest up I think it's on where the tires and Gary Paffett certainly is and they're they're p1 and p2 but they've got a huge margin over Lucas and they've got like a six second protection cushion as in comes Nico Muller also coming in is my rockefeller they ever slicks go on the Mike Rockenfeller car the weather tires come off so Mike Rockenfeller then onto the slick tires so anyone was coming into the pit lane now that was on wet weather tires for sure Thomas they're going to be on slicks yeah for sure for sure because 45 minutes still left to the races oh is is impossible to in my opinion to achieve the checkered flag on wet tires becomes Marco feminine no it's a Felipe and Timo Glock fighting and niko Muller is now into the mix as well Nico moolah having been in for his mandatory pit stop so the question is when he's pulled a Resta and Gary Paffett gonna come in at the moment there they have a reasonable margin over some six seconds but looking at the lap times and as Thomas you're pointing out to me here at a New Yorker tire and the other cars have been in and gone onto those slick tires are lapping now quicker roughly yeah yeah so this is a very important information for the four who is working on the wall gets to called the Kareena right here they come here comes board arrestor Gary Paffett in so being reported to the Stewart's the incident between the car robbing fried to Markovic mum which was in saw the car coming around so in comes Daniel in comes pulled arrested and Gary Paffett and the teams go to work on the cars let's keep the clock on them here they're not the quickest tides in the world 6.04 pulled arrestor seven point nine for Gary Paffett has he been potentially voltage by anybody else I think Rainier ass was on his way down the pit lane yes he was so he stopped now so they come out to Boulder Esther and Gary Paffett as they were from moment I just thought ready rest carriage was further up the pit lane six point seven second stop for Robert frying Center six point nine stop already rest which means the only cars that have not been in for the mandatory pit stop Daniel young Katya who I would suggest Thomas from his lap times of 138 809 presumably started the race on slicks Lukas our who's p2 at the moment a 143 three five nine would suggest that he's still on the wet weather tires would you agree yep yeah I agree I agree definitely the driver are running under below one minute forty second or honestly what we should make clear here is of course when you return as there's a touch between Gary Paffett and a home on Tara when you return from your mandatory pit stop your tires have not been heated they have not been warmed so they are cold so you've got to get those up to temperature which is why arrow Mataura was able to quite easily get Mascari Pappa tear his tires are up to temperature example and there was a little touch between Gary Paffett and head Oh more tire on it Gary managed to go through but the drivers tell me that when they come out of the mandatory pit stop on cold tires Thomas it takes at least a lap to get a temperature into the tyres exactly exactly and there is especially now in there is a night with is kind of off level of grip of the track is very very difficult for the driver to warm up as soon as possible to warm up as quick as possible the tires and his is a key also for the race on his way out now Gary Paffett now has put a lap in on those tires so they will be up to temperature this played into the hands a little bit or pulled arrestor because as Gary and edible Tara were fighting together so pulled arrestor was able to escape up the road but now under pressure antara from philip eggs a BMW driver in car number 25 there is the Filippenko car number 25 incidentally Alex Zanardi running in p4 in the race but Alex Zanardi one of those tribes that hasn't struck Jeffrey's mandatory pit stop you can see from the graphics on the left-hand side of the screen those that have stopped and those that haven't and those that haven't also huge lock up there from Kerry yeah and touch between Phillip a and a no more sorrow no Kerry's got a problem Kerry is problem has knee there they are the big contact the strong contact and I saw also the mortar acara's as a problem on the rear you see on the Riera splitter I just wonder now we saw all that smoke out the Gary Paffett car and you're right there is a fault on the helmet Erica I'm just wondering to myself we saw all that smoke from the Gary Paffett car and then it slowed it wouldn't necessarily have slowed for a lock-up as dramatically as it did yes that yes that a lock-up or is that is that among a mechanical failure in my opinion was a lot of like a Alaka of the tire and Twitter as you say low low temperature maybe on the tire we right if we can see something whoa Robert Moore is running why there oh and that was a Joel Erickson on Lloyd to Val and here is a Gary pepper then and there was the touch with a Nomo Taran something's something's clearly broken on the Gary Paffett steering is now because he's out of the race safety car has been called for just when we didn't think we could get any more drama we've got a safety car well there is a very despondent Gary Paffett who of course came into this race leading the drivers championship his nearest rival in the driver's championship Paul di Resta and pulled arrestor of course is out there he's not showing us being in the lead he's showing as being in p5 but bear in mind that the four cars ahead of him have not yet stopped please bear that in mind so let's see again here's them so that was I began to wonder whether that was angel smoke but there was the lock-up yeah yeah then there was contact between Gary who was returning completely innocently yeah there was contact between him and arrow Matara that broke something on the Gary Paffett car so it was like a sandwich between yeah the three K now Gary cannot steer the car is going out so that was the yeah that was the content that the broken foot so I for sure ur their suspension the front suspension it was if you look at it it was kind of six of one half dozen or the other but what means it's the safety car is out and that means that everyone is stacked up behind the safety car you can AFR first and Spengler and Alex Zanardi [Music] you can see the same virus pick them up now 38 minutes remaining plus one lap in the race and well just when we didn't think we could get much more trauma to this race that situation happens there is the stricken Gary a perfect car which for the points championship leader well you can see that he is pretty unhappy about that what a shame because going into this race as I said leading the drivers championship and with a broken component on the car there's nothing more that he can do the car will take no further part in the race so the only points he gets from today's efforts from qualifying so and if everything stays the way it stays at the moment because the order will sort itself out once you could de a file for spin Batman hand sonali come in for there are mandatory pit stops all the rest will go back to the lead a tome or Tara of course now Gary can't open the door of a girl so car is gonna be towed away and you've been in the situation Thomas when you're in a good position in the race and then something happens you know perhaps that it was completely innocent wasn't it something happens that absolutely ruins your race I mean how do you pick yourself up from that but I guess that's what makes you a professional racing driver you are able to pick yourself up immediately is not easy for sure except something can happen like this by you you know Motorsport that we know everything can happen from one left to the next from one corner there is never is a sure you know until the checkered yes is always we know that but for for sure is disappointing but now the driver must be focus already in tomorrow's race and do is best for tomorrow and of course carry is the ultimate professional as how all the drivers in t TM hugely professional drivers of course and he's gonna pick himself up and try and do it all over again tomorrow just one of those things where the contact as he returned after that lock up with a Tomo tarah let's get a replay of the start here now at this point ido mozart got a brilliant start pulled the rest'll s so you know all the other weather times more prone to wheel spinning thomas yeah for me the rest definitely has a lot of wheel spin as well on the rear tire should be nice to see his onboard camera to understand that because but definitely we saw in the first meters that difficulty as on the acceleration from it was clearly rear which pin yes Gary Paffett was on an absolute fly I wasn't he was alongside a demo child I went three abreast coming to return number one which is tight and then turn number two also there you can see the number two car of the British driver Gary Paffett who was leading the drivers championship going into this weekend that car is being towed away we are behind the safety car you join us live in Misano night race Tom Biaggi alongside me here top international racing driver and Italian resident who knows the Misano circuit inside out and delighted these along cytosine cons the race is being led by whilst it and the graphics you will see is 10 New York today Iraq mr. Pfeiffer's finish finger and Alex Zanardi let's drive a pair of mine they haven't stopped yet so the real red leader is at fault arrestor but of course Paul di Resta will now have a tow motor on Phillip Eggman Timo Glock right on either back bumper where previously and this is where a safety car always disadvantages the driver that was leading the race effectively because you all get up together again don't you yeah you're right and at the moment for the drivers is very important is mandatory to keep as warm as possible the tires yes we ready when the sympathy card will go in we see de Nardi is going to the to the Peter for his his pit stop and for me was a big emotion anyway to season our Dean before we know he doesn't make his pit stop about everybody knows Alex's NRT and what is doing here is absolutely incredible when I I was in a press conference with him earlier this weekend and you know the man was just so pleased to have this opportunity to be part of it and it was so grateful to not only DTM organization and of course BMW for adapting that car for a beast he's tested the car you know and these I've gone into it in the professional manner that you would expect from someone like Alex and early but it's just such a humble man and an absolute joy to listen to and so pleased to see him out on the out on the track safety guards coming in this lap so we expect a New York ADAAA I'll go so far for some bruno Spangler to come in pretty quickly after this safety car period I would think and then it will be back to the real race order which is called arrest up leading from Aero motaro Philippine and so the lights will go out on the safety car we're racing under the flood lights here in Misano on the Adriatica coast in Italy a beautiful part of the country and delighted to be here with TTM for the first of two races across this weekend both taking their place at night and we are around about halfway through the race I guess we've got 32 and 3/4 minutes left plus one lap and we are behind the safety car for the stricken sadly Gary Paffett car which is out of the race so and there you can see just how keen some of the drivers are to get going because these Indy style restarts where they go side by side which is another part of the drama of the DTM as the cars line up side by side now gusto fafa Daniel Young Hidayah Bruno Spangler pulled arrestor they're all going to line up side by side for the Indy style restart and of a safety car peels off into the pit lane as once again the excitement begins to build it's the responsibility of the front row of the grid to control the pace of this restart then and a new young Kurd am now gusto fire force Bruno expecting to pull the rest are all champing at the bit ready to go back racing again it is a DTM under the lights as they approach the timing line wait for Tonya Yonker day are now gusto farmers to give it a foot full out gusto farmers gets a good start there's bits of cargo flying everywhere as they go into turn number one side by side pulled arrestor you can see he's got to be oh so careful because of course he doesn't want to compromise his race position but of course in true terms he is ahead of a young Katya and far fuss ahead of him and Danny young Katya runs wide and that allows our customers to go through pulled arrestor alongside philip bang yeah you give the lebryk very lead the very lengthy we wins three beautiful extraordinary staff the Indy style restarts we love in DTM augusto far first leads from Philippe and then Paul di Resta but not really because how gusto far first as I got to come in for his mandatory stop Lucas Harris all sideways Jamie green and that looks like a Rennie Rast so Jamie green and Rennie roster have got around Big Show big shorten that these first the path of the first lap up that the sympathy card gave us a lot a lot of action on track a lot of action well this could have we'll all be different now because accepting al gusto far first I think Phillip egg has stopped which means that Phillip egg is now leading Paul di Resta I believe so there is out gusto far first in the BMW and filipenko Singh him down as Sarah towards the timing line Lucas our the Austrian is out in car number 22 also a Lisa Bruno Engler right so double yellow flag in turn 10 and there the Lucas our car is not going to be returning from there so we've got two yellow flags across the turn 10 section now we go to full course yellow and safety car has been called for once again Tom be a milady bottle of water there is the stricken Gary Paffett car and now to bruno Spangler is out we're onboard with Rene Rast I I think DTM afid the very well in the Misano track because is is a track where you have to use a lot that the secret over the curve with the grass and the driver are doing that yeah I think you're right oh and look at this now that his tire smoke isn't it off the rear of the Rennie race car was the pulley is pressed up against a tire so yeah you can see those bits falling off a raining rats the car isn't there so damage there there were two separate incidents there which will try and pick the bones out of when we get to see the replays of them but what we know for now is that the safety car is back out again broadcasting colleague of mine Thomas says that when you see a safety car out on the race it often breeds more safety cars but because of course everyone gets back together again right right I agree with you and especially in Misano track where the driver they have the first part of the secret the sector one there are a lot of chicane a lot of change of direction and this helps the contact you know there is a Mickey Mouse part of the secret yes like here well though we could say there that Lucas I went around and there was the Lucas our car going around and we could see that in replay and there is a very despondent drive up walking away so we try and see here there is there's lots of contact there isn't there between any number of drivers and that was the Reni raster and Jamie Green incident and I don't think that only belonged to those two drivers so we're on board we're there any Rast and he connects with the car but then there's a connection or and you can see the the front of the Jamie green car is kicked up so now whether that was a domino effect of two or three cars being involved in that so the Reni raster car is in there trying to pull the bodywork off the tire and they're looking at the front end of the car now the front splitter looks like that has dropped significantly Tania and they're trying to adjust that also but the Gary Paffett was the first retirement we saw he's with Verena now here with gary peppered al gary that is just really really sad what happened there boys it talk us through it what exactly happened well obviously I was out the pits on cold tires and a doe had hot tires and I mean the lap the lap before he missed the braking and nearly nearly crashed into me in turn eight then the next lap I looked a will and I went a little bit wide in turn eight and then as I came to rejoin the circuit I mean I don't make contact and it broke broke the steering zone and at this point in the championship I mean you're leading the championship and even of the second one in the championship Paul di Resta wins here I mean you're still leading the championship but at at this point in the championship what does it do with your head in it's disappointing of course to have a lead like this but we're still gonna be in the lead and we still have the pace so yeah the championship is a championship it's just the race result and in general here what was the feeling like the the race track at night and everything I mean it's a premiere just disappointed to the moment I know you are well thank you so much Gary and I'm sorry to hear that back to you forgetting out of Gary what you did because of course clearly Thomas as a racing driver you're always gonna be disappointed and actually you and you and I have known each other a long time when I come and point a microphone under under you and something has gone wrong in the race you don't really want to see meeting your thoughts of what's gone wrong and how you can recover isn't it right right you know is is the moment where the driver has to stay alone but anyway as it says you must be focused on on the championship where he is still leading and before queues in front of you on the future on tomorrow the past is past you have to never look on the mirror as a driver but only look in front of you well a carry of course is a supremely professional is exactly what he will do and tomorrow is another day but in the meantime of course you've got some work to do on his car to get it race ready for tomorrow and Reni Rast sadly is another retirement from the race and we also think that we've probably lost the car over Bruno Spengler and certainly that of Lucas air as you can see that being taken away right now so it's been a rate of attrition so far here at Manzano and that's sad to see the Lucas our car being taken away like that but that there we have it so we have lost Rennie rast Brenna Spangler Jamie green as well of course in the number 53 Aldi what a torrid season Jamie is having we are behind the safety car again you join us at Misano we've got 24 minutes plus one lap of the race and a safety car is going to come in this lap now zombie og once again the cars will line up side by side and IndyCar restart which means Phillip aying of course who is effectively leading the race because he has pitted he's a DTM er of people a hugely experienced racing driver as one of all the championships many of the championships that he's raced in Frankie I could remember him back in the early days of the BMW and scientists Oh farmers called a restaurant at New York today will be behind a 10-year could I take these taking his first DTM win this season at the Brands Hatch circuit in Great Britain last time we were there which was the last event of DTM before we came here too so the cars are behind the safety car the safety car will peel off now into the pin as you can see on the left-hand side so you can see already Thomas how pulled arrestor is just champing at the bit wanting to get going isn't he yeah yeah yeah pay attention to the first of four five corners and okay yeah right the cars then side by side out gusto Paphos not yet stopped Phillip bang has stopped and now gusto favors goes for it to pull the rest gets run alongside Phillip bang as they go into turn number one Paul the rest are going to have the inside line puts himself ahead of a Phillip bang so I pulled arrestor effectively back in the lead of the race then as gusto fafa Sprint's away so focus to rest up then it's hanger dato Matara and Dani you Katya so and a running very wide there is now gusto far fuss and they do run wide on that particular part of the circuit so we're t-mobile you can see in the all yellow BMW and here comes pulled arrested chasing down that al gusto father's car now gusto father's and Daniel Kataya cars that have not yet stopped robbing fri'nds on the inside of Nico Muller there so Robert Freud said getting past the Nico fuller car here comes Rockefeller on Deloitte mm just ahead of their main search Oh lyrics and so there is how gusto far first a Brazilian racer then Paul di Resta is in front of a filly bang hiccups Joel Erikson battling half there with the number 16 car Alba Timo Glock of course so the all yellow machine which is not quite so easy to identify in the dark conditions as it normally is in the daytime no further accident and no further action that incident between Joel Erickson and Lucas air which of course saw the Lucas our car out of the race regrettably let me see that the farthest is doing a stranger strategy as well with two Tavella they are going to be very late you're right it looks like a weird strategy doesn't it but sometimes just sometimes when you roll the dice we don't know what's gonna happen in the next 21 minutes plus one lap so we will say we're onboard with Timo Glock and now so Timo Glock who's currently running in p7 which is actually p6 when you factor out the fact that two out gusto far first and Daniel Cote are yet to stop in actual fact that were to elevate team of blocking to p5 wouldn't it so there is how gusto their so-called arrests are tell you what Philip bang is staying where they must pull the rest of one's why this is for the real lead of the race now Ward arrested just ran wide Philip paying didn't need offering that opportunity to go through again daily and a whoosh he was through they was in a perfect position to be able to take advantage of that I'm happy to see Philip Bank in such a good position on the race because I knew him very well in 2014 in the Porsche Supercup yes and I have to say is a very good guy is a very very nice person I he helped me when I was in trouble with that kind of car that request a different driving style and I have a very great memories about him you're right he is a great guy and he is leading the race effectively now for the bangbang ahead of Abuja Resta Larry's hold arrestor in the mercedes-benz and I know it shows up a three of course use DRS you have to be within one second of the car ahead of you and all the rest will have a DRS availability to him I've got so far fuss yet to stop as Tom piache alongside me has indicated a weird strategy coming from out gusto farthest and the team behind that car but who knows what will happen in the remaining 19 and a half minutes plus one lap of this a DTM race under the lights here in Misano the fastest lap from Phillip Eng a 131 79 to another retirement sadly Rene Rast he's with Verena now very sad that the race is over for you talk I saw what happened there yeah I was like a bit like our to school today very chaotic race start didn't win well and somehow I was always on the wrong wrong time wrong position got a few hits on the whole bodywork so it wasn't really nice but obviously it was just with a view and with the drying track is not that easy to have the control over the car so it's normal that cars are touching in the end I got turned around I'm not sure from who or what happened exactly I didn't see the pictures yet so we need to analyze but obviously another great day big shame thank you very much for knee back to you another supremely professional driver Rene Rast and sadly is out of the race out Cousteau far first dives into the pit lane so now we get back to the real race lead and this is the living now Philippe a p1 appalled arrestor p2 p3 [Music] really big dropping that lap almost a second faster than Paul dear Esther extraordinary place is great BMW is now right right this throw them out guys too far force in there as they go to work on that car the number 15 car without gusto farmers run by the BMW r mg team and there is Felipe yo lyrics earn is getting a drive-through penalty for pushing another car now Joel Erickson is running in p6 in the race so that will elevate like to bow up to p7 and that will also elevate sir Timo Glock well he doesn't it's to try and find a way past at a new yogurt day or of course it's not gonna be troubled by Joel Erickson behind it because Joel is got to go in for a drive-through penalty but what I need to say here is that when Joel Arison goes in for his drive-through penalty that will elevate Alex Zanardi up to P 12 as well I bet you have said to Alex at the beginning of the race you're gonna be pleats well will P 11e stand no chance they've you know such a humble guy right Daniel young Cordia in the Mercedes he's under real pressure here yoga taya is trying to make that car as wide as possible for Timo Glock to try and find a way past four here comes Timo Glock he takes quite a bit of the curves and I would almost be keen to say at Thomas Lee he's taken liberties with the curves here but it seems to be working yeah yeah is you can use a lot of the track defending also what the day the driver are allowed to do because ago you know the rules are says you can go over with the four wheels over the white line yeah but we know in the briefing in Misano I unfortunately I wasn't in the drivers briefing as I'm not driving in DTM but normally Misano the chief of the the director of the core the clerk of the course says to the driver we're also you can use all the track and you can go wider even with the four wheel over the white line we can see right exactly exactly so basically the the rules with regards to those white lines a blind eyes turned at certain corners and the race director will allow that to happen well Timo Glock is continuing to chase down Daniel yoga doesn't matter what he's using at the moment he hasn't got last him they have to thank you because you translate very well you translate very well from my mixes of English and Italian to English and unicron to you exactly you you understand what they mean so i mapy thank you so much I think he's gonna have him here he's getting ever closer Timo God takes him down Daniel you could do then so extraneous noises that you can hear you may think that we're banging about here in the commentary studio that's not the case at all it's the source as the cars run pastures fantastic yeah yeah I agree I definitely agree when I saw the start of the race I thought as much let me save much better than Formula one noise at the moment and for me as a fan motor sport fan the noise is very very is an ingredient very important yes I agree with you I agree with you ah now this Alexson rd coming in in the number 12 car and they go to work on the Alex Zanardi car and look at this he lights the car up and goes back out into the rainbow tires you need to break up to talk yes driver Alex in Rd then an absolute thrill to have him out on track in the DTM car and big big place to be a W for making that happen by especially adapting that car and and also to the DTM organization for allowing that guest entry so Timo Glock look he cannot get past this car of Daniel yoga daya and this must be so so frustrating for the former Formula One star as he calls himself the old man's of DC heavy Singh Timo Glock he is now because he cannot get past he's under pressure from like to vowel in the Audi behind so we got Mercedes BMW and now fighting over this p4 p5 and p6 place at the moment tell me as a racing driver Thomas when you're in the middle you're trying to fight a car ahead but you've also got to be minded because you've got a car a car attacking you behind you've got to attack and defend at the same time how do you do that yeah yeah it's not easy it's not easy mainly you ever as always to be focused in front of you but you are absolutely right and some time when you are faster compared to the car in front of you you have to pass him very quickly otherwise a whizz behind the can pass you because you lose if you are faster you lose temperature on the tire pressure on the tire and you lose your own pace very succinctly described thank you but now like to val is gonna get past Timo Glock they go side by side this is of one of the longer parts of the circuit and a drag race between Timo Glock and like to Val looked at Val who's got the inside for this one and the inside for this one surely he's through on Timo Glock yes he is he just suss that out absolutely perfectly in like - Val in the Audi puts himself ahead of BMW sir Timo Glock and there is a change for a position 5 behind him is Nico Muller and Robin fries and then it will be the machines another lap in the book and Robyn fri'nds is looking feisty here again sneak home Allah through turn number one into turn number two so right-hander left-hander then right-hander again that sequence of turns right at the start top and you mentioned this at the start you've got to get through that sequence of turns very well haven't you you've got to nail those turns perfectly exactly exactly the first part is very important and especially is a difficult part for the driver the first sector especially when you are fighting because this sequence of change of direction helps the fighter EPS the overtaking maneuver so it's not easy so the race being led by a fillip hang with her pull the rest of p2 and now all of a sudden Paul the wrestler is reeling in philip bang once again so Philip hang then he had a 1.2 second marching over Paul to rester it doesn't look like one point two seconds to me now because we don't know what definite to hang it because in the last lap we lost one second in the compared to almost every every cars behind him so if it doesn't do any mistakes as I don't believe is he as are some difficult may be managing the tires I think there is that you've nailed back who so correctly I think Philip Angus got perhaps an issue with the with the tires or with the car because all of a sudden Balder Esther is right on em now Halldor Esther of course it's got DRS available to him but even so he is within two tenths of a Philip angin as you can see on screen the steward to the meeting the instant between those cars of 753 in car 33 but for the moment let's concentrate on this because Philip aang is trying to make that car as wide as possible is knee and right trying to defend from pulled arrestor who in turn is being caught by Eduardo Mataura so this is exactly the point that you were saying he's gotta get past him otherwise Eduardo Montero will be on you I think will be not easy for Philip n keep the leading off of the race yeah it has been passed is yes yeah but definitely as some trouble with the rear maybe rear pressure they started with a bit like a real pressure to warm up quickly and faster than the tires but now he's suffering he was one of the first stop was Nehemiah Philippines so but I don't think the tire degradation would have been that great I wonder whether there's something else there but he has certainly been passed by Eduardo Matara and pulled arrest and now this just pulled arrest and now Phillip to be fair Paul was so right around the outside me he almost gets a slingshot here and carries that momentum and is able to go through and then of course here comes Eduardo Montero dives to the inside and he goes through as well so the order now is to rest a more tarah then it's Phillip anger then it's Danny you could day up Lloyd - Bao Robert friens Niko moolah Timo Glock Pascale Fairlane Marco Pitman Mike Rockenfeller so here then the race leader now up all dressed up with a no more Tara chasing him down now it was her for tense between the British driver port arrest and Eduardo Mutara there is safley bang who's gonna be coming under pressure from Daniel Isaiah though our doom or Tara is a Italian driver but he's racing with the license from Switzerland exactly right exactly right Felipe a look he's having - he's really struggling with that car isn't he and now he can't young Kataya don't know what happened because and the certain moment of the race he was having the best pace and he was leading very well the race and then he has a drop of performance as you say he peed - very early any on the race you know and for sure is you see is in a very big difficult to manage that the oversteer of the car we see here interesting me the car was chasing him down now Lloyd to foul alright is Aldi and Philip Bank of course in the BMW but Lloyd to Val pitted on the same lapis Philippines so whatever the issue Philippine is trying to manage and drive around or through he is losing places and as you've correctly identified when you look at his lap times everyone is in the 32 Zorba 33 s except Villa Peng who's in the 34 s that page drop-off has been great as net yeah yeah he asked too much to his tire at the beginning and when when he was leaving the race he push it too hard on the older tires with a no or the pressure a bit too high when he starts so now is in difficult for for that I have no other explanation we don't see any any problem in the car now it has been touched now on the on the rear bumper and Robin Robin fri'nds and Lloyd do valleys in the middle of that howdy sandwich was me and you can see the front of the Lord to Val car where make contact with Phillip hang on me Phillip Angus he's clearly got some problem as me and he's trying to he's trying to manage that but regrettably and again it must be a nightmare when you've been leading the race and then something external perhaps happens and that almost takes that and particularly for Philip it would have been his first victory in DTM to take that away from you see wow that was like about lost thoughts or some rear wings that it will shoot him even in more trouble now he lost a lot of downforce for the frame what a shame so we have what have we got five and a half minutes plus one lap remaining in this real race of attrition for DTM here the world circuit Marco Simoncelli in Misano on the Adriatica coast and under the floodlights here late night we're enjoying this race action and Timo Glock ahead of Pascal fair line a moment Timo Glock is running in that p8 has no pair line is p9 a Timo Glock another one of those BMW cars and Pascal ver line - he's outside now Timo Glock keeps him racing room but Pascoe pattern will try and type the inside now Timo Glock loses the back end of the car and that's just the help of a Pascal felt I needed as fair line now goes through so that was almost gifted to Pascal wasn't it because that just tiny error of over steer from Timo Glock was enough for Pascal to go through yeah we are anyway did a very nice maneuver in my opinion in the tramonto breaking oh there is a big big problem for Carl Jung Canaria UK they yeah he still was having to pit and so maybe we don't we don't see what definite to win so you can tell then we can see from this side Daniel g'day out lights are off strains with lights off electrical components hold perhaps yeah it's trying to nurse the car back his neighbor Stan zuray is there a slow and in the in the line in fact there are yellow flag but he has to park the car now this his parking the car where there is a where there was a runoff area where he can get the car away isn't that which actually is the right thing for him to do because if the car is left anywhere near the racing line that would call for another safety car in the closing stages of this thankfully I think he's got the car far enough away hasn't he Thomas to be out of harm's way yeah yeah well it has been drama after drama in this race the race says Pascal Fairlane and Philip egg with half his rear missing as you said following that contact with a lug to valve he's almost defenseless against her pascal vert line isn't is Pasco fair line now tries to get past game and Phillip bang just gives him a racing room so Phillip being relegated now to p7 what a shame and he was leading the race and here comes Pascoe pair line for mercedes-benz now up into p6 and there is the Spanish driver Daniel Yokota walking away from his car he's yet another car that will not be finishing of this race anyways than Adi is a beautiful that the retirement is in 3:13 Fanshawe is close to the top 10 yes it's good so Pasco Bay line then breaks the timing beam holder Esther is leading the race by 4/10 a red oval Tara so more Tower is keeping with M then it Robin frines so here we can see and do you know what in my opinion Thomas this race isn't over yet I think Eduardo's gonna have a go here for the race lead exactly exactly will be very important will be a key that the tires so who is gonna have the tires in the better condition for the final lap we will see well Edo motorist had two wins this season pulled arrestor has had two wins and waiting in the wings is Robin fri'nds look at this Eduardo Matara runs wide Robin frines get ever closer to him yeah yeah is it will be nice battle for the leader of the race and for the the winning of the race for sure we as you say is not definitely is not sure who is gonna win the race it's not done yet and as you say it's not a checkered flag Falls so Robin fri'nds here trying to find its way past Eduardo Mutara of course it would be a brilliant podium finish for Robin Friant if it stays this way and Robin friens he's a very you know you're comparing the lap times there friens is quicker is yeah yeah fly Frank sir was doing here almost two second faster we so now steel but we know now is close to more tarah so he lost some pace but the steel they Iran in the 33.8 compared to thirty five point one more Tara so France is gonna have a very very good pace but is is not easy for him to pass more Tara no it's all very well Thomas having the pace advantage but you've gotta get past that car in front of you haven't you and you know to have any opportunity here he's God of get past Eduardo motaro we've only got 40 seconds plus one lap of this a race remaining and pulled arrestor is escaping up the road now because as ido is defending from robin frien's yeah Paul der Esther is almost rubbing his hands with invisible soaps and thanks very much I can get up the road absolutely Madara is walking in that moment for the rest the let's the SEC yes yeah of course Mercedes together and he's acting as a real wingman for pulled arrestor here holding Robin frines at bay incidentally even if he finishes this way it will be Robin frying sir first a DTM podium but with the pace that Robin friens has got if he'd been able to get past a dome or tarah would he have been able to get to pulled arrestor we don't know yeah that's what they believe but Monterey's is driving very well because he's not giving any chance to pass him it's not doing any mistake we see the lie is perfect they're everywhere so yes they cross the line we are into the last lap of the race all the wrestlers leading from in frines now lights up the wig still more to try and find its way past Eduardo Montero and a head towards that p2 place rather than p3 pull the rest of us escaped up the road the final four point two kilometers around this Misano circuit to close race one for DTM over this weekend under the floodlights it has been an extraordinary race for so many different reasons so IDO Mataura track to all the way by Robin frames but Robin has got to try and find a way through he dives to the inside of a dome or Taran now racing room is given by a dome Otara they're side by side but enough's just got a little bit more momentum than Robin fri'nds and of course we'll have the inside for the next turn very very nice manual for more tada he did very well defending his position really brilliant brilliant brilliant fries he has more you know that he has more pace he has to give under than 20% now to pass more tarah he's given hundred and twenty five boys every which way he can his trying to find his way past in Ardmore Tara but hello he's given him racing room but he's he's clearly using as much of the tarmac as he needs to be now he runs wide and he's that enough for Robin fry and stay touch Robin frines has just done it well I have to say lap after lap after lap that was one of the more enjoyable battles out there on track of right in the closing stages holder Esther wins from Robin fri'nds who takes p20 matara p3 then it's a light to Val P for Nico bulla Pascal Fairlane Timo Glock will be a piece seven then it will be Philip egg moon at one stage had the lead of the race Marco VIP man will be p9 might rockefeller p10 and wow what a race screaming past our rep position here in the commentary booth out gusto far first takes that P 11 place our race winner is appalled arrester Joel Ericsson is going to take p12 and Alex Zanardi is gonna finish a P 13 but our race winner is Paul dear Esther from Robin fri'nds who right at the very closing stages of the race Wow big show big show water what a race what a race I enjoy very much good we enjoyed what you were able to bring to the show so Alex Zanardi now are crossing the timing line to take that P 13 position would have brilliant Drive from him but a brilliant drive from Paulette arrestor who just knew sassed his is opportunities and you know what Thomas you've driven in races where you couldn't write the script so many things changed I don't think I've seen a DTM race with so many different permutations of the way it could go without two safety cars we had changeable weather conditions under the floodlights I mean we had just everything thrown as didn't we I agree with you and all these things together the combination of fact give us a very very very great show here we can see the highlights of this overtaking maneuver of France's did that he did a very very he keep his right foot on throttle it doesn't mind it was outside line and Mortada also make his life not easy but he did a very very nice overtake I agree I agree I think that was one of the Zoli for its therein realization with Gary Paffett and discussions going on listening to that really but look a state of the fright of Edo motorist car Thomas right it is not easy to see on the dark with the such you you see that the the screen of his car is absolutely it looks like a rally car you're right right you thought it's just on a rally wouldn't you example the rest of the in our race winner and Robin Freund I have to say I was I was having a long conversation with Robin fri'nds he invited me to Maastricht to go and have a look around in the close season and he is so so deserving of that he's a best finish in the DTM and he's he's first podium in DTM and when you've gone into a new racing series Paul's pretty happy isn't he when you've gone into a new racing series and you you take your first podium I mean it's a very special feeling isn't it Thomas yes for sure is especially in a series like DTM which is we are talking about for sure that I would say the best a series in touring the the competition the challenge the kind of cars so I achieve a podium in DTM must be a great great great feeling well he has done that and pull the wrestlers banked what is he is a third win of the season so far now Gary Paffett will remain I think top of the drivers championship but the the margin he had will be narrowed now with Paul direst are taking the win so their confirmation of the result pulled arrestor takes our p1 robin frines at home or tower will be joining him on the podium then it's log diwali Kamala básico Vela and Timo Glock Philippine Marco VIP man and rounding out the points paying positions Mike Rockenfeller who takes a p10 then it was a gusto far first roll Ericsson Alex Zanardi and then we lost Daniel g'day or any rest Bruno Spengler Jamie green Lucas out Gary Paffett so there we have it what a race indeed and of course not long for us to wait for the next installment in this fantastic DTM story which of course comes up ran about same time tomorrow night so all smiles then although IDO motor is the one the smiling the least pulled arrested certainly smiling him Robin freearc Brian's of course will remember the fact that he gained his first all what couldn't be closer could it look at this in the driver's championship one point Gary Paffett leading a pulled arrest Oh Gary knows that he needs to turn it on tomorrow we'll be sure we will we will see another very nice race tomorrow night theory in Misano Mort our looks a bit disappointed about losing Paul di Resta race winner he's with Verena now I'm here with a very happy man congratulations Paul you did it from pole to victory and that means you're only one point behind in the championship lead so fantastic job yeah you don't get much better days than it was it couldn't be any more difficult to be honest in terms of her the conditions were you could kind of read it before the race qualifying the way then starting on the war side of the grid fortunately retained elite good pit stop and then you've got the safety car it was a bold decision for the IndyCar restart Eng was very aggressive and given where I was in the championship was like well if you're that like quick go for it and I think he suffered a bit at the end but I rode a game we got through but it was right on the edge right on the edge again tomorrow I think it's forecast to be a bit wet but yeah it's been a very solid weekend even if you go away with this you did a fantastic job alright so enjoy a moment up there Paul thank you so much and I'm gonna get Robin in a second Robin hello there coming all the way from P 12 to p2 and what an amazing maneuver you did there I mean Pooh congratulations yeah thank you was was a long shot that came from far into an eight I tried I saw that he braked a bit early in the turn a bead lap before so I'm like I knew it was last lap so I gave it a shot and then you kind of yeah off balance so I kept on going and finally he did a little mistake in turn 14 which was enough to take me to class I mean you really had the pace right yeah the pace was good I was battling with with Timo and he hit me on the side so I went wide so I had to start all over again but I enjoyed myself out there I'm sure you did thank you so much Robin back to you thank you really yeah you know what when you get a result like that P 12 - P - oh yeah you are going to enjoy that aren't you yeah for sure for sure is it's not easy especially in such a category like DTM and grass track it doesn't look at the front sorry to interrupt you but oh is look at that crazy due to the rain you know outside of track you can find the Rayleigh condition right hey what a beautiful shot that is that the MS on a region at night of course and wow what a race we have enjoyed from DTM another race to come of course tomorrow still got the podium to come here of course and we'll see on that podium pull the rest of Robin frien's and EDM Otara and the scene could not be set for anything more exciting tomorrow because in the driver's championship just one point now between a bull director and Gary Paffett atop of the drugs championship of course Gary Paffett not finishing the race absolute nightmare for him it just what he didn't want but hugely professional driver he'll pull himself back from the disappointment of not finishing and of course another day tomorrow and the one thing we have we know about the DTM is you can take a look Thomas at the EF what has happened in today's race you would think that that would give us a form guide for tomorrow forget it it doesn't because tomorrow can be completely different counted I agree with you I agree and tomorrow but we offer four or Italian sunny weather so then again we changed a lot today the track condition the setup of the cars and it will be another another story I think you're absolutely right very despondent Mike Rockenfeller walking down the pit lane arrow so pulled the rest of Dawn's the cap which says first and he's a p1 forward I pulled a restaurant that's how happy he was he jumped out the car and celebrated his third win in DTM this season and now finds himself within one point of the championship leader which he's still Gary Paffett who suffered from not finishing of this race today so Paffett still leads but only by one point from the man in the middle of that picture all do rest on smiling there and they will be out on the podium in a few moments from now and he'll be joined by this man who doesn't look quite so happy Eduardo more tarah p3 Robin frines at p2 hello then what's going through his mind in Italian we say when you have an overtake in the last lap like that it burns we say burns I mean for sure II suffer about losing one position in the very last lap in almost at the last corner but anyway he achieve a great pot you mean in a race so tough like we we saw well here is pulled arrested getting past Filip bang then as we look at take a look at some of the overtake moves during the course of the race and here he really gets a slingshot because he's run wide but he uses that doesn't need to give him that extra momentum almost to find his way past Felipe and it was interesting Tomas yeah that actually he said exactly what you had said it comes earlier on that you felt it was Philippine had pushed his tires too much early on exactly exactly that I may be confirmed my feeling you know I have been lucky but was quite clear on TV so we saw an overtake maneuver that normally is what we saw that the car was extremely wide that could totally of the track but for sure as I say before they get the the permission from the clerk of the court to do that you know because otherwise you get penalized for overtaking maneuver like that Thank You Tomas PRG who's been alongside us all race long we're about to get the podium under way and we're waiting for the podium ceremony to start you can see that the lead arrestor who will be on the top step of the podium robin friens will be on step number two and a tomo tara on the third step of the podium so the podium ceremony is about to get underway and under the lights here in Misano here comes Paul de rester to the top step of the podium he's third win in DTM of this season and well done Paul the restaurant they have an ice cream to celebrate the team his first podium in DTM Robin frines then that takes that p2 place and taking p3 almost on the last corner of the last lap he lost her p2 eduardo matara goes to the third step of the podium daniel Yakutia looks on and of course the team represented up there on the podium as well as we pause now for the national anthem [Music] [Applause] [Music] so it's the ample place now for the rest of some special guests on the podium to oversee the trophy presentation storm alongside me you've spotted some friends of yours already yes yes Roberto Rivera is a DTM superstars driver but also has been my team principal for three years we achieve several championship together winces oh man II need I was gonna take the trophy herself wasn't he to begin with Nene then making a trophy presentation to pull the rest of our fantastic trophy that is fantastic EV to say yeah yep that's a good one so the formula formula a former Formula one a DTM driver then making the trophy presentations and the team and Paul director of received her their trophies Roberto revoir DTM champion we see 1998 he even many many races in DTM yes it has been a BMW a very representing driver of BMW and Pierre kapha there pierre kappa who was on occasions been driving the DTM race taxis as well so some people lucky people have had passenger rides with BHF oh wow something nice so there we have it in traffic presentations done and dusted the drivers will all get together of course with those really really magnificent trophies with the Misano circuit of course searched in the in the trophy and robin frien's will remember this his first DTM podium and here comes the champagne then and I have to say I think this has been really really unfair of late for grid girls yeah come under intense targeting from the attending that's fair really I don't but well done to all three Paul the rest of Robin frighten IDO more taro well if we get a DTM race tomorrow with only 50% of the drama Thomas it's gonna be a big race isn't it all the rest are lifting the trophy then and great trophies as well from DTM here in Amazon oh he is now as Willie Fritz Hado for mercedes-benz DTM looks on he is only one point behind a Gary Paffett English this was so unfair I mean I girls make haste your escape because you know you were just gonna you're gonna get it and indeed you did here comes Robin Francine is there a bottle drop on the way here yes there is Robin left right left right center it's quite a long way down there well caught well several bottle broken yes at the asphalt yes he did very well they kept hold of that so there we have it then and we know Eduardo more tarah he looked a bit disappointed he's with Farina now yeah you know you're looking very disappointed because I guess last just before the end of the race you lost one position however I heard that before the race you actually mentioned that you didn't have a good feeling with a car and you didn't even know if you would finish and you did finish on the podium so I said disappointed yeah I mean we weren't sure actually to finish the race today we had the problem of the pony and I mean the goal was actually you know to get to the end of the race by by every every possible hour away and so I was trying to set the car from the beginning to the end which worked and I must say a big fangs you know to the received my Mercedes team they did an incredible job now I'm sad to be honest with you not because of the loss of the second price in the end you know it's three points it's not the end of the world a I'm disappointed because because of the contact with Gary and noting that today we have thing that we yeah we could have we could have done one two three and obviously I didn't want really to interfere like in the championship like that I kind of like what squeezed like between him and and Felipe I didn't really have like any any any way to go and yeah I feel sad for that because I think that probably we're gonna have some discussions well thank you so much for your honest words thank you IDO and well it was still a very exciting race here the very first night race ever in the history of DTM and we're looking forward to another exciting race tomorrow so make sure to join in and for now you're the highlights of the day or rather the night enjoy see you tomorrow [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music]
