if you're sick of your nighttime images looking like this and would prefer them to look like this well you need to consider hike visions new color view series this is hiked visions ds2 CD 2 3 4 7 g 1 - L or hike visions 4 megapixel turret color view camera it comes with three lens choices the two-point eight millimeter providing a hundred and nine degree field of view the four millimeter providing a ninety four degree field of view and the six millimeter providing a fifty seven degree field of view and what makes it special is its ability to provide a full color image 24/7 it only needs the smallest amount of light to produce this in fact to give it a hand it comes with not one but two LED illuminators capable of throwing white light up to 30 metres it also comes with an optional microphone for audio recording this camera can be plugged into an NVR or works standalone because it's got a micro SD slot ready to go obviously it just needs power and the ability to connect your network so that it can get out to the internet if you're going to use it as a standalone capturing color information is invaluable to the police more often than not they're given grainy black-and-white image that makes it very tough for them to be able to identify both people and cars this is the ultimate low-light camera capable of producing a full-color image with no ambient light whatsoever in fact the starlight and moonlight can be enough for this camera to produce a full-color image any ambient light in your neighborhood will do the trick even a streetlight 30 or 40 meters away will give this camera just enough of a boost to produce even a higher-quality color image more often than not criminals these days will cover up their facial features they'll wear a hat a hoodie maybe even a scarf over their face so what details the police are able to obtain from a standard camera are limited this camera gives them valuable color information enabling them to identify the color of someone's clothing this shortly after an event when the perpetrator is potentially still in the area it can be very very valuable information they can quickly spot someone walking down the street wearing a red jacket for example who's just previously been identified by this camera so how a vision achieving this well the first thing is the aperture this has an aperture of only F 1.0 whereas a typical camera has an aperture around F 2.0 now that doesn't sound like a big difference for the difference between 1.0 and 2.0 is in effect four times the amount of light that's going to hit this image sensor so as usual it's time to put this camera to the test we're going to stack it up against one of our standard 8 megapixel resolution cameras which are the standard ones found in all of our web packages on the website you can feel free to swap out any of those cameras with this camera if you want to at no additional charge you may not appreciate just how dark it is outside so I took a picture with my camera just to show you the ambient lighting we have some ambient light in the distance but that's a good 80 metres away the way this camera works is to adjust its exposure to allow enough light to hit the image sensor in order to provide a full color image now there is a downside to this it means that fast-moving objects will always have the little ghosting effect where you see a trail behind the actual subject you can see this as evident more so when I haven't got the LED light on unless so when I do have it on again the more light to hit the image sensor means that it can reduce that exposure time and therefore reduce the ghosting this camera is able to generate smart events but unlike other cameras it's not affected in the same way when it comes to motion detection as we know one of the downsides with motion detection particularly at night is that moths and bugs etc will set it off you can see here on the 8 megapixel camera the amount of moths and bugs that are actually setting it off now these are all creating events so there's no way on earth that you would ever set that camera on motion detection to send you an alert when it picks something up is a very good chance that it's just going to be a moth or a bug in this case we've set up a line crossing event you'll notice as I approach the line that the LED is off this is to prevent all the false alarms from insects as we mentioned earlier as I cross the line it triggers the line crossing event and therefore turns on the light which now illuminates me for the recording now I can still see the insects and bugs in this image but the job of the camera has been done to capture triggered events that we've set out to capture not all the millions of false events that you typically get when your camera can only do motion detection the chances of false alarms with this camera is greatly reduced because of this one thing to keep in mind with this camera is that that white light is visible to not just the camera but also to everyone else take a look at the camera now with that white light on you can imagine how annoying that might be if you're trying to get some sleep and your neighboring property is shining that in your window so if be mindful of that we'll help you choose the right locations so that we're not going to annoy your neighbors the ideal situation would be to set it so that that white light only comes on when the actual camera picks up some motion detection rather than just leaving it on all the time when we stack this camera up with our standard 8 megapixel camera at daytime it's very very hard to determine which one is which obviously we've got the writing down in the bottom corner which will give you the clue but during the day it's really tough to determine which one is the 8 megapixel and which one is the 4 megapixel the time that we notice the difference was when we went to zoom in on a number plate and of course that's in essence what you're doing when you're increasing the resolution you're cramming in more pixels which is giving you the ability to zoom into the recorded image a lot better now looking at the overall picture there's not a lot of difference it's only when we zoom in to a number plate that you start to pick up the differences in this lens but the reason you're buying this camera is for it's nighttime performance as you can see during the day you're going to get a very similar picture to an 8 megapixel camera but at night time this camera is going to blow away the 8 megapixel camera in fact any camera that flicks over to black-and-white at nighttime that's because the lower the resolution the easier it is for this camera or any camera for that matter to fill up the image sensor with light vision have realized this and you will see that their current range of color view and a cue sense are all around that 4 megapixel mark this is the sweet spot it allows you to get an optimal picture during the day and at night time not compromised too much on that image sensor bio needing so much light in fact hikvision have also released this in a 2 megapixel version it obviously reduces its quality during the day but again bumps it up at night time so if that's what you're after you might consider upgrading to the 2 megapixel instead of this 4 megapixel sounds crazy but believe it or not you're probably going to get a better image at nighttime from a two met camera than you are from this format camera so what's our final verdict we absolutely love this camera we see it as the next evolution in security cameras remember it wasn't long ago that all cameras were black-and-white full-time then they got a bit smarter and made them color during the day black and white at night and now this guy comes along and it provides color 24/7 why wouldn't you want that as an option given that it's exactly the same price as our current 8 megapixel cameras that switch to black and white at night time as usual guys all of this information is on our website including a spec sheet that you can download we have all our pricing on there we have web packages which includes multiple cameras so that you can select the one that fits your budget and as always we're always happy to help here in the office so until next time I'll see you then [Music]
