hi guys it's one of the biggest questions I get when I show my videos and I and I say what level we're finishing to is what is that level so when you finish drywall there are levels there's zero all the way through five depending on how far you finish and it's just a broad guideline for those of us that finish how far to take a job so a level one looks exactly the same as a level one in a different stage a different area things like that it also keeps contractors on the same page just what to expect when they come in if they're paying you for a level three you better give him a level three not a level two and you don't want to spend an extra two days finishing to the level four if you're not going to pay for it so the video coming up is just a quick overview of levels one all the way through five it's how we finish we finish with tools you know we don't tape by hand things like that so might look a little different than yours and I'm not saying that ours is perfect or that we are laid the gold standard I'm just walking you through how we finish and what our different level of finishes look like so much are you want to level one looks like this would be considered a fire tape this is what we have to do to code here depending on your area might be a little bit different but all joints should be taped as you can tell angles are tape bucks or tapes flats or tapes and everything is there's no excess bone anywhere it's clean and tidy screw heads or hit anything where air can get through needs to be sealed up so if you have you know an outside corner you have quite a beat on that you're not coding this is just taping your scenes so this is an areas obviously the canticle something like that that's not really going to be seen usually above greatest fire tape things like that so this is a level one this is a level two so with a level two your clear bead is coated your flats are coated once and then your screws are still coated from your fiber tapes for a level to your cloning corner bead and putting the flats in your box tool marks are acceptable with this coat it doesn't have to look perfect in few notes it's like an upgrade above a fire tape so sometimes garages have a little tube finish this is what this is and this is how it should look this is our level three finish with the level three finish this is as far as you go with your texturing so if we're doing a swirl of skip trial and he's gonna hand texture this is as far as we go everything now has been hit twice last have been hit twice crews have been hit twice Buck's have been hit twice quarter B and that the angles have been boxed so this is our level three finish right here and a level three should have two coats now everything that's in the drop well they made it we're at level four that is considered a smooth wall this is what we take our smooth walls to at this point everything has been touched three times so flats have been done three times this just wanted being a big giant bastard shoulder area so this was done three times our funds have been done three times our screws and then our angles are boxed again in minutes you can see in the ceiling is textured so we run the top angle by hand and then a quitter beam also has the pin done three times at this point there should be no tool marks everything should be smooth flat and ready for primer and you will see sometimes witness variations between the sheetrock texture and the mud texture being that the mud is Suleman so if you're going to get rid of that and you're wanting to take the walls to the next level above the level four then we go to a level five this bowl is the completely level five from angle all the way to the corner bead and it's been coated with a very thin layer of mud so as you can tell there's no difference here between the sheetrock and between where we've coated everything is smooth this is the best finish like the best most people don't want to pay for this because it's very labor-intensive takes a lot of work but if you're wanting it a smooth seamless look this is it especially if you're going with a very high gloss paint you're gonna want to go with a level five okay as good as we all are when you get to those really glossy paints you're gonna have some flashing so this right here is a level five and I think our job is done and we're headed to the next one so we have the level three give constancy leave a little for throughout the whole house and then a level five right here so here's the level four painted this is it done at the level three on ceiling and then a level four on the walls and just to clarify there is cabinets floor to ceiling all the way on all of these units so we didn't take the kitchen very far but this is what it should look like
