Oh my goodness look at that! Oh there are snipper dogs! And there is a wall of dust
blowing across the highway. There are times when you
travel, when you just go wow! We're Marianne and Chris in 2018, we quit
the 9-5 and bought Trudy our camper van. We are currently on an adventure to
drive the circumference of the world. We had a fantastic nice night's sleep last night, and let's see what the view's like this morning. There you go, look at that! What
a wonderful place to sleep. We've definitely missed the nature spot staying in
the towns and stuff, I'm just loving the different plants, I mean look at this this is like one
of those yucca trees or something you get. The foliage is amazing! You can see up there
there's lots of hikers starting to arrive It's early Sunday morning this morning, The sun is shining i think this car park will get quite busy as the day goes on. And today we're
driving to Tombstone! Arizona! We're going to cross another time zone, and everything! I know it's
getting tricky to phone family now, because we're changing time zones, so they're
either waking us up or we're waking them up! I think yeah, i think we're going to be like seven or eight hours behind the the UK? which is crazy! It's making scheduling all the videos and everything
really confusing! So yeah we're going to hit the road, we've got about a five and a half hour
drive six hour drive today, it's a long one.... Just coming out, look! You can see all the cows grazing there, that's lovely Wow if you ever wonder whether the romans have been
here? Look how straight this road is that we're starting on today. So because this whole area is BLM land, you can see that there's camper vans dotted around. So yeah what a wonderful
spot, there's another one, another couple up there, and they've all got air con units that's one thing we're coming commenting on they've got little generators with air-con units on top. Which would definitely be good in this warm weather, and it's not even summer i mean it's only end of April! Can you imagine what it would be like in the height of August, so many people said that the roads in America are going to be long and straight for hours and hours and hours, and be really boring, but not today! We've got lovely windy roads, through
the nature here with fantastic views. So often we like to take the quieter back roads, but because we've got so far to drive today in fact we've got 244 miles we're doing now on this highway, we've taken the i-10 west! It makes it a bit easier to drive love? Absolutely if we were
doing the back roads it would be twice as long, And I would have to think a lot more! the big statue of a roadrunner! I want to see a road runner - beep beep! So we're just driving along and they've got
this security stop, i think it's because we're so close to the Mexican border and they're
probably just making sure we're all legitimate. So it might be time to show the passports. Oh there's sniffer dogs, army guys with guns! Sniffer dogs? Are they sniffer dogs? Maybe they're just like attack dogs?! And They're going to kill you! I think we'll be fine love The dog didn't sniff the van! He didn't - he and the dog just ignored my van, and went straight on to the next one! Maybe you look like a tourist ! Baby! i think that the steering wheel on the wrong side probably gives it away! I'm a lady, Trudy is a lady! Oh they've got atvs to go across the desert! They have they got border border patrol
vehicles there, they look a bit meaty don't they! They do! Good morning, Are you US Citizens? Hello - we are from the UK UK? Okay! The van is from the UK as well? Yes we did! Was it expensive? It was expensive, it was i think with all

word! The thing the mystery of the desert exit 322 Coming down here all these advertising
boards on the side are absolutely fascinating! that one says fireworks listed, blizzard conditions ahead,
the thing, a sight to behold, you'll be amazed! The thing, the thing, aliens versus dinosaurs! I have no idea what i'm actually looking at! I know about the dust storms because Kathi who we
met yesterday for lunch, she told us, she did, in fact she warned us that this area is so plagued by dust storms. I'm not sure if the camera is going to pick it up, but there is a seriously large
freight train look at that all the way along there wow are they containers on top? Yeah containers,
look at the size of that train! When i was a kid i spent a few years of my childhood in Michigan, way back in the mid 80s and i remember stopping at the train tracks, and seeing these
freight trains go past and just like went on for hours, with hundreds of carriages and that was a
pretty big one. We haven't seen one across the road yet but i'm looking forward to that experience, and counting how many carriages there are! So we just passed a big sign
with an image of a dust storm saying take five wait until the dust settles. So yeah so definitely the advice here is not to drive, i suppose it's like really
dense fog? just can't see what you're doing. Fingers crossed today though it's looking
beautifully clear and we shouldn't have any dust storms. I've just seen another sign about this thing! And i'm pretty sure it's because maybe they found a dinosaur or dinosaurs footprints or a skeleton in this area? so i think that's what they're advertising? Or maybe jurassic park is here! Okay she's had too much caffeine! Chris has had a mental block! I forgot what state we are in! Okay we're in New Mexico we've just stopped at a rest stop, we're definitely
in the state! We're oh look at that sign I'll show you that in a minute! So yeah
we stopped at a rest stop, as you come in in New Mexico there is a sign that
says you can stay for 24 hours so like Texas if you need to sleep for
a night you can stop at a rest stop! Go and show them the sign - look at this sign ! There are some things in life you need to beware of! Crazy people is obviously one of them! but the other one that i'm not
excited to see ..... is that one! Driving along the side, you can
see where there's been a fire .... it's been so dry that they've had quite a lot
of wildfires across these parts of the states. I'm not sure that this will come out but
there's you can actually see like a dust tornado in the distance over there, how cool is that? Yeah very unusual So we're just passing a town called Road Forks And we were just laughing you can imagine back in
the day when there was no highway. and it's like there's one road and it forks! And someone asks you - where do you live? where the road forks! So we're just coming along the
interstate here we've seen the dust warnings and there is a wall of dust blowing across
the highway in front. Just to give you a little perspective you can see the mountains over
there it's all clear, and then come this way you can see that there is indeed a
bit of a wall of dust coming up there! We've closed the windows, put the air-con on
and put the air circulation internal only. It's looking a little bit weird there isn't it. Look it stems from way over that side, look over there! I feel like i'm in an episode of The Mummy! look it's coming behind us! that's it slow down, They do say - pull off if it gets too bad! yeah it's not too bad, we're just coming to another clear spot and it's clear again in front. You can imagine sometimes that it is completely
blacked out, and you can't see a thing! I think we are good, it's clear it's
clearing it's clearing, in fact if you look in the rear view mirror you can see how dark and
horrible it is over there. But i think it's okay in front now. It actually looks worse out that side you
can't see the mountains, and then it's clearer in front of us now, which is great. The guardian angels are with us! We're through the storm! Another State line Baby! There you go the Canyon
State - Welcome to Arizona I can't believe we've made it to Arizona! There's
actually only one more state and then we've hit the pacific ocean! Wow so looking at the road ahead, you literally could probably see from 50 miles straight all the way to those mountains way way in the distance. So because we've just crossed the state border we're going to stop in the first rest area, hopefully they've got a welcome to Arizona sign, because you know how we like to take
pics with the welcome to the state sign! I don't think i've ever taken as many selfies! but it is fun crossing the state lines. There we go! First rest stop in Arizona, cars round to the right. So, have they got a sign? That's the question! I can't see a welcome to Arizona sign? There's a "Some poisonous snakes and insects inhabit this area" sign! oh my goodness! Welcome to Arizona! So they didn't have a welcome to Arizona sign, they've just got these little information signs here. I think that's the first state
we've crossed without a big welcome sign or a big flag like they had in Texas. Come on Arizona where's your welcome sign? Look at the size of that RV, that
is the size of a whole coach - It is a coach! Okay we've come off the interstate we've got
about 30 miles to go, this landscape is mad, i feel like we're way out there! You have always been way out there,
that's why I married you! Just in a different way?! Oh it's a bit blowy! we just pulled over because .... there are times when you travel, when you just go Wow! And we are on the way to Tombstone and i just
want you to just take in the scenery around here. We feel like we are in the absolute middle
of nowhere! Here in Arizona! Is that not nuts? Honestly i'm just loving it! Can i just say, I
wouldn't want to share this with anyone else. Thanks baby 26 years of marriage and you're
still talking to me ..... it must be good! Wow this is absolutely breathtaking, I am so emotional! She is feeling emosh! so it should be about a mile and a
half down here, we're going to turn right. I've looked online i think i've found a car
park that we can that we can park at, Tombstone! So we've got Trudy parked up the awning out, it is all good. Town is literally just over the top of the hill up there, and we're just going to go and see
i think you got a call it's ten dollars a night. There's a number to call and then
we can stay here for two nights so there you go so it's ten dollars a
night and you have got to put ...... let's have a look Oh there's a pen as well ? Look at that there's an envelope there's an envelope you can put your details on, you don't even have to lick
the envelope - amazing! i love it! Twenty dollars and we're going to stay here for two nights aren't we? Yep we can have a break, a little bit like my glasses! There you go all done and there's
