Drinker's Chasers - Our Thoughts On Echo

we have all watched Echo some of us have even watched it all the way through and I would be interested to hear you gentlemen give me your thoughts on it you can go in any order you want I don't need to go clockwise or anything and you could do it in Sign Language if you won or you know what I found amazing about it it's like I thought we were the fight scenes You' think at least they could get one thing right was a fight scenes but but I felt like we were watching a reenactment of the Matrix from a retire Community like they were selling Western like they were sending a western unionist like the punch is coming it's coming it's it's coming I promise you it's like the $6 million man in the 70s remember those slow motion scenes but done bad I was like where are the bionics I mean it was just ridiculous every white man was a villain every Native American Indian was a hero even the criminals were misunderstood victims of white oppression it's like what else is next 90% of people at diabetes yeah I'm surprised that Community hasn't all just killed over from heart disease amount of people in that show that just didn't look like they really could do with you know maybe having a salad I thought was [ __ ] hilarious I thought it was hilarious right up until he ruined Kingpin and turned him into cry baby oh what was he GNA do next survive the show and he didn't did anybody the the the show kind of retroactively makes makes me sad that Daredevil got made because it gave us Vincent denofrio as Kingpin and I loved him at the time and loved his portrayal and I know now they're just going to keep Wheeling him out to do like to support all their crappy shows you know every time they need a boost they're going to bring out someone like him or they're going to bring in Daredevil because they're cool and they they've got a good rep in the Marvel Kingdom um and I hate to see them getting used and abused this way it really makes me sad yeah we saw these good characters before on Netflix like we've seen a good version of Daredevil I mean a great version of Punisher which I'm sure they're gonna ruin him in the Daredevil show for Disney plus but done in the comics well I'm hoping that Bernthal remember Bernthal gave an interview a year ago he said that the three things that he refuses to ever betray you know God his family and punishers hopefully really is Daredevil got out this series untouched which was which was a massive blessed relief I only watched I haven't watched the final episode I'm I've got one more to go but like he's only been in from from my point of view he's only been in that first episode for he's only in the first one exactly exactly and that's why he yeah yeah yeah that's why he's got got unscathed in this thank goodness I wish he was unscathed but he he had a chance the guy we know from the Netflix never would have left her he would have killed her I know because as far as I mean not from his yeah from his perspective at the time because she was working for Kingpin she was just really one of his harded goons and yeah he from his point of view she was just another henchman to be taken down and I don't know why he would suddenly spare her when she gave him no reason to she was trying real hard to kill him to be specific with the language very what I meant it's like he just gives up and leaves it's really weird yeah and she's lucky as hell that did that for no reason at all like may very it's interesting as well that they had to fight they had to have them fight to a standstill it couldn't be that she got her ass kicked and just barely survived or something like of course not we know why she couldn't do that like the editing is so choppy in this that you just you feel as if so much was just taken away CU one scene would just suddenly chop to another you be like wait that wasn't even resolved or or played out and it was just ended and now something else is started and and we see Kingpin running away at the end spoilers there ain't no spoilers it's dog [ __ ] all right spoil away because I I don't I don't care and it runs off at the end because uh Ekko at the end of the show after she's and I I [ __ ] you not girl powerered so hard she brings her ancestors back to life who then girl power all the girls in the girl vicinity and ends up with a 75-year-old woman beating up 30-year-old men as come on are you are you seriously telling me that you've never done that before when you got real mad as a 75y old woman is like have you never have you never done that have you never brought your ancestors back to life so that they could inhabit the bodies of your friends and kick ass cuz like I got I got after two bottles of absence one night I did that now I don't have any evidence of it but I believe it real she's still got osteoporosis though you know the thing is I kept waiting for one of the bad guys to like just take her leg you know in that one episode where they knocked her out and brought her into back to it when they kidna I know take her leg this is something I wanted to talk about a little bit the Epic levels of stupidity in this show because there is a point where the bad guys it's like lowlevel local bad guys who are going to sell her out to like the bigger bad guys they chloroform her knock her out uh and string her up by her artificial leg and then she like manages to fall to the floor and like the foot comes off or something yeah and then what they do is they leave her tied up in a room and they throw the foot in there with her for reasons and I just thought if you really want to immobilize a person like this just remove that artificial leg and just throw it away so she can't get to it and then she can't really go anywhere she certainly can't fight you and I thought throughout this this show I just waited for a scene like that where she really like her disability actually becomes a factor in her character and she's up against it because the leg gets damaged or something it does I know it gets damaged at one point but all it gives her is a limp but yeah like where it really tells because otherwise it's just Irrelevant for the most part I mean it would have been fun to see like Hopalong Pocahontas come on that would have been funny but it's like they didn't do it every time they had her and then the the sign okay I I like that for like 5 seconds but then why watch in her silent the entire time with the grumpy face I think she smiled once acting it's a it's a problem because they they wanted to go for this Middle Ground where everyone does sign language when they communicate with her but they also say whatever they're they're saying out loud but they have to like slow down their their verbalization because they can't keep up with the sign language and so you get this really awkward halting kind of dialogue from people which just sounds so unnatural and I would be I would rather they just didn't speak at all and just did sign language and like you just get the subtitles at the bottom it's way more efficient and easier than doing it this way in the Daredevil fight did you catch the CG Daredevil is that where he leaps over the top of the fence there's uh I don't I'm not sure about that one exactly but because some people in chat were referencing different ones but the one I I was spotting and I couldn't share it with you if you want um this kind of [ __ ] I just like I'm getting to the point where I have no idea how this even happens anymore um are you talking about when he was kicking the guns after he hopped over the fence like he's hopped over like uh one of the shelves and she's coming after him and he gets up off the floor and he's clearly like not human he's like a little AI man yeah well there's some really awkward there's awkward Cuts in that fight scene as well where they they go past a pillar and you can tell how yeah it's there we go um it's kind of sad too you see how he's like oh yeah like floaty oh I didn't what the [ __ ] and then you think like wait a minute what what happened that made them to do this I either an actor missing their their que or just makes me think that he was standing the whole time and that they had to animate him going down and back up do you think she actually just kind of fell over there like we need to make it look like she hit something there so he just uh he just falls to the ground what about a few seconds before that where she goes to kick but she holds the kick for like a a second where it just hovers in the air you're like what are you doing she holds it with a hand to delay so so she can actually see his Flinch to get the the blowing but it doesn't work it doesn't look right no because he doesn't he doesn't Flinch he just waits for her to release the the kick still so and again why didn't Daredevil just okay let me grab the LI take it from her and like start beating her with it I I I think um hilarious you know scenes like that it's a really good example of how this show is trying to AP Daredevil you know it wants to be gritty and violent and do the big impressive like one take uh fight sequencies but things like that rely on one really good coordination between your stunt guys and your actor where they can switch in and out having a main actor who can actually fight to a reasonable degree um and and good good camera work good directors and stuff and this show doesn't have any of that and it comes off as just a pale imitation of what Daredevil was able to do seemingly so easily and make it look great like you can tell the actress herself can't fight she's so slow she's so cumbersome they have her for some reason fighting like she's a big brawler yeah yeah yeah big haym maker punches like there's loads of power behind it and it's like you don't have that you're you shouldn't be trying to fight like that you should be agile and uh and and you know athletic air fighter like an air fighter Dex yeah and like but it's like they they're trying to play Her Like She's this big Power heavyweight fighter yeah like a brawler like she's Kingpin or something and that's not how she can she can't pull that off looks weird I don't know if it's Charlie Cox doing the fight scene or whether or not it was a stunt double doing the fight scene but whoever was doing the fighting for Daredevil was just streets ahead of the of the other of her he he was too quick he was in the ne he was in spots ready and and you could see that this is a person who knew exactly what they were doing in terms of fight choreography and he got nothing back on the other side you saw how massive distances of Misses there were coming in and and even in editing they couldn't make that look as if there was an actual fight going on then you think back to the Corridor scene from Daredevil season one beautiful and he just like that's that's what this is uh wish's version of that this is this is wish's uh Corridor scene from Daredevil one it's it's uh it's Fu it's not good it wasn't good and it didn't drag you in and and the only time I saw her smile George he said I think she smiled once the only time I saw a smile when she killed a white man right yeah and that's the scene I'm talking about but yeah yeah that was it it's like look I got a Whitey but as did did it remind you or anybody else of more like season one of Netflix iron fist fighting you remember how horrible that was uh I think that was actually better really yeah yeah I I think I mean I thought thought uh ironfist was was awful I thought it's boring as hell character were just yeah but it was that that fighting is way better even Colleen was way better a fighter than than what we saw going on here I I think she's she's slow that's her biggest problem Like You Can Tell She's struggling to keep up with the choreography it's very much like watching Hayden Christensen fight Rosario Dawson either someone who doesn't have the the physicality to to move quickly or is struggling to remember the fight choreography and so has to slow it down and this is the best they can do and it's like you're you're working with limited resources here and I would have rather you just swap her right for a stunt double and just keep her face obscured as much as she can like there's things you can do there's tricks you can play um what about the choppy cam what do you think Drinker about the choppy Cam that it seemed to me constant in the fight like obviously with that one yeah with that one obviously they wanted to make a point like hey we're just like Daredevil except [ __ ] but with the with the other fights yeah it's very much like your standard Marvel fight scene like lots of jump cuts um very forgiving towards the actors and what they can actually do lots of very weak punches that are disguised to make them look uh powerful um and lots of very accommodating stunt men having to work their asses off to try and sell this [ __ ] I confus the timeline by the way because Kingpin says to her after that fight that you're the only one of my men who's ever stood up to Daredevil and I was like what about Bullseye yeah good yeah he doesn't he doesn't count now more yeah like was this set before did devil season 3 or they just not remember Bullseye I I don't think I think I don't think they even know like if you were to ask the makers of the show like where's this sit within the chronology of the series they'd be like I I don't [ __ ] know do you think they're embarrassed I mean when you I mean people were to compare this with stepen Knight's daredevil on Netflix I mean it's night and day I I think um they've at least like we said before they've been wise enough to keep their devil out of it it for the most part he shows up in that scene and then just leaves and as much as it's dumb that he would just not finish her off when he clearly had the chance to um I'm glad that they just didn't have him interact in any way I didn't want him to be part of this story I really didn't want kingping to be part of this story either but I've come to realize this is not the same Kingpin that we had in the Netflix series this is it might be played by the same actor and Vincent you can try and sort of understand it as he's been automized by getting shot in the [ __ ] head that would probably have some kind of effect on your personality I'd imagine so well she did at the end she she she lobotomized his pain away she fixed him as yeah she fixed him she she used her ancestral wam magic got into his head and said hey you don't have to pick up a hammer and smash your death your dad to death with it cuz he's beating out your mom you just have to sit on your bed and cry like a [ __ ] baby you can tell they had no idea how to even write that because they get her into his childhood memory of his parents like having all everyone knows this from the deevil show and it's like so what are you gonna say to him and she basically just says like you don't have to be sad about this it's like okay it's like let me take your pain away I mean now he's gonna be knitting like little sweaters for kittens I it just was I asked Gary Gary was live streaming right after the right after the show and I caught him I was like I said to my chat I was like in one word what do you think of echo chamber and he's like hold on hold on and he hits the echo button on his sound booy he's like it's total [ __ ] I was like yeah okay sums it up
