bishop i got this strange uh scripture that i want to bring it's not a strange scripture but it's a from a different angle different perspective i'm interested to get your honest feedback after hopefully he's going to bless the people of god so i want to take up a familiar scripture in acts chapter 9 acts chapter 9 and i want to i want to come from it hey how y'all doing acts chapter 9 now i'm used to preaching to yours i'm on preacher y'all hey acts chapter 9 acts chapter 9 acts chapter 9 i'm reading from the new international version and i i'm not going to focus so much on uh the the the story as much as a word somebody say word on a word a word i want to focus particularly on a word a word that is repeated over and over again in acts chapter 9 so i feel dear however you let me know you're there let me know it wave at me or however all right acts chapter 9 acts chapter 9 reading at verse number nine verse number one through verse number nine and i'll be here at the 12 o'clock i'm preaching two different sermons so whatever one if you want to repeat if you want to refill or refix i'll be here 12 also acts chapter 9 verse number one and here begins the reading of the word of god meanwhile saul was still bringing out murderous threats against the lord's disciple he went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogue in damascus somebody said damascus so that if he found any there who belonged to the way whether men or women he might take them as prisoners to jerusalem as he kneed damascus somebody said damascus on his journey suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him he fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him saul saul why do you persecute me who are you lord saul acts i am jesus whom you are persecuted he replied now get up and go into the city and you will be told what you must do the men traveling with saul stood there speechless they heard the sound but did not see anyone saul got up from the ground but when he opened his eyes he could not see nothing so they led him by the hand into damascus for three days he was blind and did not eat or drink anything in damascus somebody said damascus there was a disciple let's stop right there i want you to back it up particularly at verse number eight saul got up from the ground but when he opened his eyes he could not see nothing so they led him by the hand into damascus particular word that is repeated over and over and over again starting particularly at verse number two and all the way through you can see it repeat it in the text just keep your bible open because i know what city i'm in and what church in verse number two and he asked for a letter of the synagogue in damascus then you go to verse number three as he near damascus on his road then when you get down particularly to verse number eight saul gathered from the ground but when he opened his eyes he could not see nothing so they led him by the hand into what damascus and then verse number 10 what does it say and what and damascus i want to take that particular word i'm not focusing more on the story as i'm focusing on a word that particular word that is repeated over and over again and israel and newbury takes that word and remixed it and i want to take the same perspective that israel takes it in his cd and i want to spell it the way he spelled it and i want to talk about the road to the mask us all right if you can put it on the screen so you can the road to the mask the road to what all right and i know you can't talk because you got your mask on but i want you to look at your neighbor and say we are on the road to the mask okay okay okay you can't take it off cause she won't invite me back so you gotta keep your mask off but hopefully you got extra mass if you got one you're gonna get ready to wave it how many of y'all know your breakthrough is coming in the mass this morning i wish i had somebody in here who said a breakthrough is going to be coming in your mass this morning the road to okay y'all got it y'all got it this morning with the help of the holy spirit i want us to focus not particularly on the story as much as focus on the word that is repeated over and over in the text that word describes not just a particular person but rather a particular place or a road i want to re-spell that word and talk to you about the road to the mask us for the first time okay y'all just killed it i told them to put it on the screen so you can see how i'm spelling it i'm spelling it d-e-m-a-s-k-u-s the road to the us bishop for the last time for the first time rather in history many of us for the last year and a half were told in order to survive or live we need to be covering our face with our mass most of us were told by the governor or the mayor or even pastors and preachers that tell you and i that no matter the age no matter our color no matter our political party no better if we save or a sinner for the last year and a half we were told to stay in shelter or stay in place and if we venture out we ought to wear all right we spent the last year and a half putting on our every time we left our house we didn't just leave with our bible and our anointed oil but last year and a half we had to leave with our mass when we walked our dog we had to weigh our when we went to the grocery we had to wear if we decided to get on a plane we had to wear my goodness if we were talking to somebody while we're making sure our garden and taking care of we had to wear up if we had to go on our job we could not go on our job without uh even if we had the audacity to show up in church we had to make sure we were uh the mass we wore covered our mouth and our noses the mass we wore was to protect us from the possibility of catching covet 19 but the mass also covered something the reality is that while the mass covered our nose and our mouth and we're looking forward to one day when we will throw these masks away and we will be in church mass free and we won't even have to wear another west we don't know when that is going to happen we don't know when they're going to tell us even though most of us may be vaccinated they are still telling us that in a crowd with people we should wear our masks the reality is that while the mask covered some of our faces and covered some of our nose the mask also covered something deeper you see bishop the mass covered my pain the mass covered my feelings the mass covered my emotions the mass covered whether i'm happy or sad whether i'm in pain or whether i'm in praise the mask covers something that affected me in my childhood the mask covered me with something that i delved in my marriage the mass covered the rape and the molestation the mass covered the pain and the hood but this morning i came to tell cornelia you are on the road today mask and god i wish i wish i had somebody in here you are on the road to be masculine i don't know if you're going to ever get rid of your physical mass i'm not frenchie so i can't tell you i don't work for joel biden so i can't tell you but i work for the king of kings and the lords of lords and he told me the greatest mass you wear is not what's on your face it's what's on your heart and this morning i came to tell you that god has sent you to be liberated from your mask my brothers and my sisters my brothers and my sisters the reality darling is all of us somebody holler all of us all of us from the pulpit to the people all of us whether we straight okay all of us whether we black or white all of us whether we republicans or democrat all of us whether we're rich or poor all of us whether we from the city or from the country all of us whether we americans or trinidadians all of us get this invisible mass that's we've been wearing this mass has protected our pain this mass has kept us from exposing our feelings this mass has releases us to keep us from shame our emotion and because the mass we wear cannot really tell how we were feeling that's the danger bishop of sitting next to somebody who got a mass corner because you don't know if they're happy or if they're sad you don't know if they're gonna shout or they're gonna shoot you you know uh uh come on up in here you don't know if they're glad to be next to you or if they're angry that they're next to you and my brothers and sisters i've come to tell somebody you cannot keep on going through life where in mass i said you cannot keep on going through life being the great pretender you cannot keep on going through life smiling in people's face but know that you're sad on the inside you see bishop there are many debates on when it's going to be time to take this mask off there are so many debates on if the mass protects you from covet 19 there is so many debates on if the nurse can keep you from the pandemic but i'm not concerned about the outward mass as much as i'm concerned about the mask on the inside and i can't tell you if to take your mask off after you leave church i can't tell you if they'll throw away your your mass i can't tell you have to burn your mass but all i can tell you is god has come to liberate you from every demonic mass every sin sick mass every struggling mass god has come to deliver you on this morning you see bishop bishop so many of us have gotten so used in wearing masks now we got the pretty mess oh darling have you seen the pretty mess you got the glass with rhinestones you got the mask with signature on the side you got the mask that matches the color in your hair you got the mask that masses the clothes you wear but there's somebody who said i'm just wearing the regular mess because this is just a temporary thing i wish i had somebody at the sound of my voice who said whatever mass in my heart if any man be in christ he is he's a new creature he's a new creature and yes you may have on a pretty mess on the outside but inside you are wearing a painful mess just think about that wonderful young lady who no longer is able to go to the olympics this wonderful young lady who said there was she was faster than lightning and because of the tragedy that happens in the killing of a mother finding out firm a reporter while he was interviewing her my goodness she made a mystic and if but the grace of god we would still make the same mistake i wish i had somebody here it's because she was trying to mask her pain oh she decided to do weed while while it was legal in her city darlene it was not legal in the sports arena and i've come to tell you you're not qualified to throw any stones because you've got a drug of your choice yours may not be weed it may be women yours might not be women it may be shopping yours might not be shopping it may be cussing but all of us got something that if it wasn't for the grace of god i feel like preaching right here is there anybody who don't mind waving at me and say if it wasn't for the grace of god you would be on cnn by now if it wasn't for the grace of god you will be in jail by now if it wasn't for the grace of god you have been crazy by now but for the grace of god i need somebody to open your mouth if you're able to do this but for the grace of god here it is here it is bishop all of us looked down your role looked on your roof all of us are wearing a pain mask huh it's a mass that comes in many shapes it's a mass that comes in many sizes but they all are designed to hide from the world what you're really feeling we are wearing a mask to keep the real us on the inside we may we wear masks because we just don't feel good about ourselves we wear masks because we believe if people see who we truly are my goodness they would not like us until we take the mask and show our true self we really don't know if we got a friend or if we got an enemy huh until we can uncover ourself until we can show ourselves to others we don't even know if they're for us or they're against us now my brothers and sisters they're different kind of man when i get to yours just throw something at me don't throw your mess but just throw a hand at me first of all there is there is the mass there is the insecure mass what did i say there is the insecure mass it's the mass that those people uses of the way often because they are insecure in who they are they always tell a lot of jokes and they always light but beat down on the inside there is that insecurity behind the mass of laughters they avoid intimacy they avoid being around people they will not join in economy or small groups they will not be a part of any ministry they will dip into church on sunday and before the benediction they will leave because on the inside they do not feel like they qualify to even be in this space but i've come to tell you you can take that mask off this morning because the bible says if any man be in christ he is a new creature and that's the insecurity mass here is the second mass there is no over-achieving mass i've come to get you where your overachievers oh my goodness you encountered them so often bishop because of something in their childhood they think they got to over achieve everything who am i preaching to right here you are over achiever you wear your success on your shoulder you're never satisfied you never can enjoy where you are because you always want more money always want more friends you want more ministry but all when you come to understand that the stuff don't make you you make the stuff you can stand in god and say if i never get another miracle if i never get another breakthrough if i never get another blessing just the mayor fact that he woke me up this morning it's enough to where are the of achievers where are the overachievers those of you who are never satisfied with where you are in life and the reason why you are an overachiever is you afraid of failure oh my goodness you're afraid of failure oh my goodness you will go to the length of the breath of your life you will stay in unhealthy relationship he will stay on a in a healthy environment because inside you rather be messed up and still look successful we have the overachievers who've got the gucci on one hand get the louis vuitton on the other hand got the red bottoms but you're not satisfied where are they over the over cj yes mass number three here's number mass number three that's the control mass where what's number three to control give it to me to control mass where this person must be in control i'm coming to get you this person bishop they've got to be in control they tend to judge and criticize others deep down their control freak where are you i'm coming to get you you got to control your boo you got to control your dog you got to control your kid and you even try to control god you tell god when to bless you how to bless you and why he should bless you but is there anybody in here who said that god is the only one who's got caught up total control there is there is a control mass wearer deep down because you're a control freak you're a tail fire being vulnerable are you terrified of being vulnerable you can't stand crying where you at where you at as soon as you start crying you see it as weakness you don't even see crying as strength you're anxious about something you are manipulated by nature you got to manipulate the situation and so you bleed on people can i preach up in here oh my god you always got something to complain about you always got issue with something because you are trying to manipulate people to lean towards you because unless you are in control you don't feel good about yourself but would you look at your neighbor and say the only thing you can control in here is yourself that's the wrong neighbor i said the only thing you can control in here is yourself because where the spirit of the lord is very but here's number four there is the tough mask wearer where's the tough mass where that's where i fall in this person takes great pleasure pushing and shoving through life they are actually very weak and have low self-esteem but they bully others through life oh my god that's the tough person they act like they're tough as a nail but they're small and they're soft like a kitty cat that's one of the reason why i can't stand your bishop because she sees right through it she comes to my church and keep telling my members that i got a big heart i said shut up don't tell them that ah she got me saying it's a victory day she got me saying i love you my goodness i spent one day with bishop she said 16 time i love you i said bishop how much more i love you do you have do y'all know what i'm talking about but the longer you're wrong huh you stop saying the same thing i end up hugging the makeup artist i'm giving hard vibe to somebody who shows up at the house because listen you can be tough and be by yourself or you can let your guards down and let somebody in [Applause] now i thought i thought i was tough until i went to the gun range y'all know bishop got a couple of guns and she felt it on my heart that i needed to go to the shooting range and i said i can handle that i mean i'm from trinidad i don't see what's bad about it so darlene and i we got suited up went in there they gave me the shortest piece the smallest pieces that are 22 or 20. they give me the 22 and the brother is standing behind me and he said just look at the target and my goodness i i lined up like bishop and i got myself together and sure enough i shot and something started happening i started crying i started crying i was trying to pull it together i looked over there darlings not quite bishop's not quite and she's not quite the two caucasian people are not quite what's wrong with you girl get it together but i started thinking of michael brown and i started thinking of travon martin and i started thinking of family members that i know that a bullet hit them and it ricocheted i can't get it out of my mind the minds are being tough the master being cold the mass of i don't want to care no more the mass that i don't want you to see my pain begins to come down not at the altar not in a church building but in a place where i didn't even think god knew i was i don't know who i came to preach to but i've come to get you you're looking tough you're acting tough you're walking around your house and you're talking tough but on the inside you trying to figure out how you're going to get through radiation on the inside you're trying to figure out if your memory's going to come back after coffee at 19. yeah you're tough on the outside you're superwoman you're one demand you're superman you're able to leap tall buildings you're able to stop bullets but yes in actuality if you take a good look at my face you will see it's just look at your neighbor just point to your mask boy look around here if there's one thing we all got in common in your bishop we don't all have the same sneakers on we all don't have the same shoes on darling we don't have the same outfit all but all of us got on that ought to make you shout right here let me tell you why because you're not the only mass wearer and that means this morning god is not just going to deliver you it's going to be a corporate deliverance i need somebody who don't mind opening their mouth with your mass covering himself and said this morning everybody in my section is getting a breakthrough no matter no matter what your no matter what your version no matter what your version of pain is no matter what kind of pain it is my goodness all of us are wearing a pain mass ah but you cannot be free on independence day you cannot be free until you allow god to take the mask off of you now somebody ought to say it's easier said than done because bishop you got to understand why i wear masks before you tell me what to do about my mass you got to understand the why before the what so many of us focus on what i did but not why i did what i did oh god the church always focus on what people do and not why they did did you read that book by oprah winfrey entitled what happens to you oh god that book is a liberating book what happened to you we always say what's wrong with you but before you can say what's wrong with me can you at least ask what happened to me cause i wasn't born with a mask can i preach up in here i wasn't born cold can i preach up in here i wasn't born mean can i preach up in here i wasn't born nasty can i preach up in here but something happened but i've come to declare and decree that the lord said i'm going to restore what the locusts have told uh what the canton worm has told it god told me to tell you after this next shout out whatever happens to you it's not going to affect you because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world is there anybody out there [Music] yes i am a third generation of mass wearers i am a third generation of mass whereas my mama wear mask my daddy wore a mask you see the mask helps me from being betrayed because of the hurt and the mass covers my shame and it covers my pain can i preach up here oh my goodness i have to wear a mask because i'm not trusting anybody can i preach up in here it's hard to trust people to think they even really value you not value what you do but value you not value your anointing but value you not of that value your ministry but value you that's why i've got to be honest when i first met your bishop i had to google her i had to do a background check on her i had to make sure she was the real deal anybody want to be real in here and my goodness every post that's out there everything they said and she's one of the nicest person and i was going to try her until she walked away from me but she is just like the holy ghost ah she ain't going nowhere i wish i had a real church in here who knows you got the kind of bishop the kind of pastor that if you're going through something oh i said bishop are you telling me your members got your number she said most of them i said lord jesus all i'm trying to tell you is she's the real what did i say come on give the lord a hand of praise right here for the real deal darling we wear mass and should we wear masks because we really don't want to share our emotions well what does that have to do with our text i'm glad you asked the question because our biblical text introduces us to the number one mass where we're in scripture oh i know y'all know him as the apostle paul i know you all know him as sanctified paul i know you all know him as the one who wrote 13 books in the bible but if you do a background check on paul you realize that paul was the number one mask well i feel like preaching right here yes he looked like he got it going on just look at his resume he's a pharisee above pharisee he's zealous for the lord he's so zealous that he's breeding out threats and he's determined when he find believers who are believers of the way who are on their way somewhere that he would kill them he's riding high on his horse he's got the mass of pride on he's got the mass of rage on he's so angry that he makes sure that stephen was stoned to death in acts chapter seven ah but paul had a destiny and paul had a date with destiny and the bible said in acts chapter 9 that while paul was wearing his mask doing the pandemic that god knocked him off of his high horse is there somebody of the song in my voice who said i've got a date with destiny i get a time with god you see god has a season and god has a time where he said you can't wear another mess because what you got to do and where you're going i'm going to need to reel you oh you're not ready for me this morning i said where are you going and what you got to do will the real corner near please stand up well the real jersey chance please stand up well the real woman of god would you please stay yes paul look at that chapter 9 bishop over and over oh my god over and over again that word is repeated not just once not just twice but that word is repeated put it in the chat that word is repeated over and over and over again that my goodness paul is on the road of being paul is on the road of being damas he's on the road of damascus but there's a greater assignment on the road to damascus he's being damask perhaps the reason why the pandemic showed up perhaps the reason why we had to be in our houses for a year and a half it's not because of covet 19 it's because god was trying to get the real church the real belief the real shouters and if you shouted and you had a mask on guess what you're going to do when god deliver you from your your mess here he is how do i how do i travel bishop the road to the maskers how do i get free from this this mask how do i walk through this journey well first of all you got to know it's a journey the bible says it's paul saul red is traveling and he's persecuting people the bible said that god knocks him off of his high horse and my goodness and the lord said saul saul why are you persecuting me here's the first step and he said who are you who are you lord the first step of being the mask is you got to know who he is oh god i feel like preaching right here i say i said i said paul said saul said who are you lord now bishop if you were teaching this and preaching it you already know that saul already gave the answer who are you lord okay y'all missed it if you already know i'm lord why are you asking me who i am oh my goodness who are you lord and that's the first step to deliverance the first of the deliverance is not who i am it's who he is cause when i know who he is i can see who i am i don't know who i am apart from who he is oh god i felt that thing right there that's why the scripture said it's in him that i live it's in him that i move it's in him that i've got my being you've got to understand that your first step to being on mass is you need a glimpse of who he is some of us got amnesia of who he is some of us forgot of who he is some of us have looked over who he is but he is the lord high and lifted up the psalmist said lift up your head so he gates and be lifted up the everlasting dose and the king of glory shall come in somebody hollered back at me who is the king of glory the lord god almighty he is the king of gloria i know your master but just look at your neighbor and say i know who he is he's bread when i'm hungry he's water when i'm thirsty he's a doctor in a sick room he's a lawyer in a courtroom he's a mother to the motherless he's a father to the fatherless is there anybody at the sound of my voice is there anybody on facebook on twitter who knows who he is at least wave something at me throw something at me and if you've got the ability to throw your head back and say i know [Music] i know who he is wave at me as you know he is i know who he is in my life [Music] the first step the first step to the world of being damascus is you got to ask the right question the question is not who i am the question is who are you lord who are you who are you who are you in covet who are you through cancer who are you through a divorce who are you through high school who are you who are you to those who are franchised who are you to the homeless who are you i i need to be reminded of who you are i need to be reminded that you're high and lifted up i need to be reminded that your ever-present help in the time of trouble i need to be reminded that your brother they're sticking closer than any other i need to be reminded that you are my supplier that you are my provider that you are my keeper i need somebody needs to be reminded this morning because of what you're going through the devil is trying to tell you that god has left you that god has forgotten you that god has abandoned you but i need somebody to just testify to your neighbor and say i know who he is in the midnight hour i know who he is and bishop because i know who he is i know who i am oh you'll miss your cue idea i said because i know who he is i know who i am and the head and that detail i'm above and not beneath i'm blessed in the city i'm blessing the free i know who i [Music] know i know it i know it i know it i know it i know it i know it i know it i know it i know it i know it i know it i know it i know it i know it i know it out i know it i know it i know it i know who i am i know who i am because i know who you are i know who i am because i know who you are i know who i am because i know who you are and because i know who you are and i know who i am i can celebrate you god y'all people who can't celebrate other people it's people who don't know who you are but when you know who you are you can praise god for somebody else's miracle lord who are you who are you lord but the second question is what what you have me to do what would you have me to do take what would you have me to do after coving what what you have me to do after the pandemic what what you have me to do after the radiation what what you have me to do after therapy take the [Music] god i feel like preaching right here my goodness he said paul saul this is what i want you to do and he gives him a recipe of on masking he blinds him first oh god i can't see in the natural but my spiritual lens are so wide open i wish i had a thousand people who can testify that during the cove you can't see naturally but you can see spiritually you can tell who's for you and you can tell who's against you my goodness just not your neighbor by the elbow and so when we come out of this pandemic i don't know about you but there's some things i'm not gonna do anymore and one of those things is i'm not going to be wearing mass i'm not going to be pretending if you're like me or don't like me it ain't gonna affect me if you shout for me or don't shout for me it's not gonna bother me because when i think of the goodness of jesus and all that he's done for me myself cries out hallelujah the bible says saul went to our house and the scripture said he stayed in that house for three days but there was a brother who looked down your road and said i've been assigned to help you take the mask off i've been assigned to help you get to your destiny i've been assigned to help you get to your purpose we gotta get out of here good night children and the lord bless you real good thank you for having me bishop i see you at 12 o'clock but nudge your neighbor and your neighbor as soon as they get the benediction and i run outside guess what i'm gonna do i'm gonna take the mask off [Music] [Music] somebody holler take it up take it off take it off [Music] um we interrupt this regularly scheduled program to tell you that we don't know when you're gonna ever take your physical mask off i don't know when joe biden's gonna say i don't know when the cdc is gonna say it bishop but what i do know is if i never take that mask off the tragedy is not the physical mass the tragedy is every sunday bishop gives you an opportunity to lay your mass [Music] bishop they said the gen x and the millennium and the gen z 48 of them said they're not going back to church we have not because of preaching or teaching or anything they say because too many people in church are not real i don't know how true that is that's their assessment but what i do know is i've been where paul has been i've written books and i've preached everywhere you think and you can imagine and and i still had on i preached and i got everybody happy and then i and the pandemic was one of the greatest gift to me it put me on the road of the mask us paul got baptized scale fell from his eyes and the soul becomes the paul and darling he leaves that house and bishop i pray that as you leave your house that you will authentically step into this new world being you because this new world will eat you up if you're fake or phony this new world can see through you and they will call it out but may you on your job and your homes and wherever you are may you step in with somebody just take a smaller step where you are i know you can find and so father as we are on this road to damascus it's going to be painful for some of us it's going to be challenging for some of us i know it has been for me but i thank you that there was a disciple they called a bishop at cornelia that came alongside me and tell me it's okay to live unmask [Music] and so father whoever is wearing whatever mask give them the grace to remove that mass of pain in their hearts and their minds i thank you for doing it and i bless your name because you send your word to heal my disease i am the lord that healed thee
