if you take nothing else away from this experience this conversation i think what you and i want people to know from this book is that no matter what happened to you it's not too late you do have a chance to rewrite the script and you talk about something called post-traumatic wisdom using all of these things experiences good and bad in your life to allow you to have post-traumatic wisdom instead of stress about it what does that mean well basically that's referring to the experience where you've been able to kind of get through adversity and you're now at a safer place in your life and you can look back and reflect and take what you've learned and use that to see the world differently you use your pain and transform it to power and help other people i think of the most transformative people i've ever known every single one of them had personal pain and traumatic experience that was a core element of who they became and it didn't it didn't crush them it they learned how to carry the burden in a way uh it's not like it goes away it's i mean you know it's you know it's not like you're free of distress or depression or anxiety it's just that it didn't destroy them and it gives those people tend to have tremendous empathy for others who are struggling and they also tend to have wisdom you know they're wise about the ability to live with pain and not have so much fear from pain you know it's not like you're going back and undoing you're moving forward i mean that's the thing that's the nature of human the human biological system we always are moving forward we're changing we may think the same look the same but we're always changing forward [Music]
