Really liked this. The future scene with him and Peggy is similar although Peggy seemed more like a little sister. Joan seems more like the bigger sister...or something. Really exemplifies Mad Men and the subtle undertones in it all. Descriptively nothing big is going on but within the show it makes so much more sense. I'm having a hard time explaining to people what the show is about. You just know if you've watched it and you don't if you haven't.

I remember watching this scene and getting excited that Don and Joan were going to hook up but the longer the scene went it made happier that they didn't. It was really a different side for both characters.

On a separate note this is the most "Jon Hamm'ish" scene in the whole show. Watching just the clip you would think Don Draper isn't even in the scene.

I like this scene a lot. It made me kinda sad how there relationship degraded starting in season 6

I like this scene because the alcohol "truth serum" works as a confessional. When they are discussing the mystery "philanderer" across the bar, Don says "He doesn't know what he wants, but he is wanting."

Joan says, "Oh, he knows. It's just the way he is. And maybe it's just the way she is."

Don projected himself. Joan picked it up, acknowledged his confession, and admitted she wasn't an innocent lamb in her marriage, either.

What a beautiful scene. I had secretly hoped for a Don and Joan fling from Season 3 up to this point. I thought they would be the perfect thing for each other at these exact moments in their respective lives.

They both love a challenge. They both love power. They both love sex, and the power they each wield during sex.

They were really what the other needed. Don needed someone to match him, his gravitas and charisma, while he was sleeping around post-divorce. Joan needed someone who wouldn't crowd her or force their way into her life, and could match her intensity.

But, their kindred spirits led to respect and admiration in platonic dynamics. Which is too bad, because I think Hamm and Hendricks were the best actors in amorous scenes for the whole series.

And, Roger finding out would provide SO MANY one liners.

One of my absolute favorite scenes in the show.

The next episode, The Other Woman, takes on a whole new dimension when you acknowledge that this was a legitimate date between Don and Joan. They try each other on for size at the dealership, they flirt and nearly hookup at the bar, and then Don sends her flowers at the end. No wonder he was so opposed to her sleeping with Herb.
