Hi guys, welcome or welcome back to my channel My name's Jess and I love doing DIY, refashion clothes Today's video, I'm going to share with you how I made this maxi dress for my summer To make this dress, I used 3m of loose linen fabric with floral printing The first step is making the top of the maxi dress I fold the fabric first Then drawing a rectangle with 62cm width which is 1.5 times a half of your bust size And 22cm length which is the length from upper to under breast + 2cm After cutting, I'm overlocking to protect the fabric by using the zigzag stitching At one edge of the rectangle, I fold the end fabric double time to hide the cutting Then sewing From the top, I'm drawing the horizontal lines 1 cm away from each other. They will be the sewing lines later To create the shirring for the top, I use the elastic thread as the under thread and sew with normal straight stitching Don't worry about this part It's not as difficult as you think And I finish the top of the maxi dress To the bottom of the maxi dress I want to create the floating So I divided it into 3 tiers The length of each tier will be one third of the length from the belly to the ankle or the length that you want The width of the first tier will be the same with the width of the top which is 62cm The width of the second tier will be 1.5 times the width of the first tier And the width of the third tier will be 1.5 times the width of the second one After cutting, I'm overlocking all of them to protect the fabric I use the zigzag stitching on my sewing machine to do it Next step, at the second tier, I'm making a loose seam at one edge of the rectangle You just need to use the maximum range of the stitching Then keep one thread and pull another one to create the frill Make sure the width of the second tier after making the frill will be the same with the width of the first tier Now I'm connecting the second tier to the first tier at the frill Use the pins to hold them together. Then sewing Doing similar to the third tier I'm making a loose seam at one edge of the rectangle to create the frill first Make sure the width of the third tier after making the frill has to be the same with the width of the second tier Then connecting the third tier to the second tier at the frill And sewing To the end of the third tier, I fold it twice to hide the cutting. Then sewing And I finish the bottom of the maxi dress Now I'm connecting the top and bottom of the dress together at the first tier by the pins Then sewing After that, I connect 2 sides of the dress together from the top to the end And sewing them together Last step is making the ties for the dress I'm drawing 4 rectangles with 8cm width and around 40cm length After cutting, I fold the rectangle in half Then sewing I use a long stick to upside the ties and iron it to make it nicer To fix the ties to the top of the dress, you can wear it on your body to mark the position first Then fixing them together later. And sewing And we finish this DIY. Here's my final result This maxi dress is not difficult to make as it looks And it’s also a must have dress for summer Join me in the Me-made Summer challenge to make our summer more beautiful See you next week
