you guys put it back hey it's stephanie thank you so much for tuning in today i'm sharing a tutorial on how to build your own privacy fence we've kind of neglected this area of the backyard so we wanted to clean it up nice and i think this privacy fence is exactly what this area needs i want to quick thank wagner for sponsoring this video the privacy fence went up super quick thanks to the wagner flexio 3000 handheld sprayer i used it to paint the brick wall and to stain the fence and it was so easy to use and such a time saver so thank you again wagner for sponsoring today's video and for introducing me to the flexdio 3000 i will be sharing more about this sprayer later in the video you can find the link for the flexio 3000 in the description first things first i cleaned up this whole area so i have a nice and clean workspace [Music] our privacy fence is eight feet tall and twelve feet wide for lumber we bought twelve one by six by twelve foot common boards from home depot lumber is pretty expensive right now but we saved some money by using full 12 foot boards and splitting them in half ourselves we used a table saw to rip the boards directly in half i used three eight foot two by fours for the vertical supports i will also link the full lumber list and the tool list for this project in the description below the brick wall is a little uneven so in order for the two by fours to sit level against the brick wall i needed to notch out a bit of the two by four to do this i used my jigsaw [Music] now if you don't have something to secure your privacy fence to you could always dig some holes with a post digger and secure your posts into the ground that way with concrete or gravel for me it was easier to piece the privacy fence together upright since my brick wall wasn't level and i was working mostly by myself this was the easiest way to do it if your privacy fence is free standing you could build the entire fence on the ground and then lift it up and paint or stain the entire fence once it's built before securing my posts into the brick wall i prepped the brick wall for a fresh coat of white [Music] paint here is the wagner flex seal 3000 paint sprayer i love this paint sprayer because it has the flexibility to spray indoors and outdoors with the power to spray unthinned paint and stains with full coverage the x boost power dial has nine settings for various coatings and precise control it comes with the bigger eye spray nozzle for large projects and the detail finish nozzle for smaller projects i'm using this ultra pure white exterior paint and primer by bear since i'm spraying a larger surface i'm using the eye spray nozzle and adjusting the controls according to the instruction manual [Music] [Music] don't forget your protective equipment when spraying you want to position the spray gun perpendicular to and six to eight inches from the spray surface depending on the spray pattern size desired spray parallel to the surface with smooth passes at a consistent speed when spraying larger surfaces overlap each spray pass by at least 50 percent this will ensure full coverage when spraying always trigger the spray gun after spray pass has begun and release trigger before stopping the pass always keep the gun pointed squarely at the spray surface and overlap passes slightly to obtain the most consistent and professional finish possible [Music] [Music] [Music] now it's time to stay in the lumber i used a large tarp and some scrap wood to place the lumber on [Music] [Music] after painting the wall i cleaned up the sprayer which was super easy to clean for the privacy fence i'm using this semi-transparent waterproof stain and sealer in the color cordovan brown [Music] the detail finish nozzle is ideal for detail projects and finer finishes it's designed for spring thinner materials like oil-based stains and paints the detail finish nozzle leaves a smoother finish so that's what i'm using here [Music] adjust the controls according to the instructions [Music] [Music] [Music] to secure my two by four posts to the brick wall i'm using these concrete anchors and these corner braces in order to make my two by fours level i'll need to use some wood shims i'm using these deck screws to secure my wood slats to the 2x4 posts here i'm measuring where the posts will go and marking them on the wall making sure my lines are nice and level [Music] now i'm holding the posts where they are level and then adding shims to fill the gaps i secured the wood shims with some deck screws [Music] make a mark where your concrete anchors need to go and then use a concrete hammer drill bit to drill into the concrete it would be easier and faster to use a hammer drill for this step but i used a regular drill and it just took me some extra time [Music] once the holes are drilled you hammer in the plastic anchors and then secure your bracket to the wall using screws [Music] for each post i used three corner braces i repeated the same steps for each outside post making sure that each post was perfectly level [Music] in her head [Music] these days it's not [Music] easy you don't mean [Music] to get the middle post level i used a string and attached it to each outside post as a guide i did this to make sure that my middle post was in line and level with the two outside posts [Music] [Music] [Music] is [Music] me [Music] now that my posts are up they're level it's time to start securing the slap pieces to the posts i used my level to make sure the bottom slat was perfectly level and then i used some one and a half inch blocks as spacers so each slat was spaced out evenly i used two deck screws to secure the slats to each post be sure to check that your slats are level as you go and adjust as needed [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] baby [Music] [Music] [Music] do [Music] [Music] do [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] on the left side of the privacy fence where you can see the brick wall i plan to eventually build some storage for our garbage and recycling bins but i'll save that for another project [Music] [Music] that is all on how to diy your own privacy fence thank you guys so much for watching thank you again wagner for sponsoring this video go check out the flexzio 3000 paint sprayer link in the description i promise you won't be disappointed [Music] i love [Music] these days it's not [Music] easy [Music] me i love the way
