DIY PONYTAIL LAYERED HAIRCUT - SUCCESS!

hi i'm josephine you're probably noticing this really awkward voiceover i noticed after the fact that my mic wasn't on and since this is a haircutting video i can't really redo it because my hair is already gone anyways today i attempted the ponytail layered haircut i haven't cut my hair in over a year and a half and it's getting ridiculously long take a look i plan to get it cut during my maternity leave but my shelter in place in my city started two weeks before my maternity leave so lo and behold here i am with super long hair with super dry ends um so i need to get it cut so let's see what you're supposed to do is tie a ponytail as close to the front of your head as possible here i am just tying along um trying to comb out all the ends i wish i could go bald i think i used to always joke that i wish i could go bald if i didn't have to see anyone for a year and here is my chance but i don't have the guts to do it but now i'm saying that i can't do it because i need to look good in all the pictures with my baby she's gonna be pissed off when she's older if she sees me with a really bad haircut when she's older so yep i'm gonna keep my hair long and this is more convenient to tie it in a bun anyways so make sure that it's nice and smooth i guess um now that i know how it turned out i could recommend this haircut before i was saying that um i have no idea what i'm doing and how well it's gonna turn out so i couldn't recommend it but now hey i think it's pretty good uh so keep on tying keep on tying i moved it a little bit closer to the front [Music] um this is awkward because i'm just trying to sync up with what i'm doing in the video and it's not working really well so as you can see i made a ponytail and my hair is way too long and then i'm going to put another hair tie right above where i want it cut oh turns out i didn't even put that hair tie on there yet oops okay that was the first hair tie now i'm going to put a hair tie right above where i want to cut i'm going to take off about six inches and then i'm going to put another hair tie below where i cut it so that way after i cut the hair is not going to fly everywhere and it's just going to stay in one little neat bundle yep so about six inches or so now i'm noticing that the ponytail wasn't even straight and there's hair coming off on the side oops so now you know it doesn't have to be perfect and it still turns out okay if you're not a perfectionist then this is the haircut for you and then you just start hacking away these scissors ended up to be not that great i had to hack this for quite a while it came in the kit with um the what you call that thing the hair trimming set whatever it is the one that i bought to cut my husband's hair and never really had to use this on his hair because i just used that electronic trimmer thing who knew that these scissors suck but maybe it's because i have my hair tied up in this thick bundle so it's kind of hard to cut through maybe i should have flattened it a little bit um and it would have been easier to cut through so it's been a while i'm still hacking away at it kind of awkward um but bear with me please there we go and a little strand hanging out here it is here just gone boom okay and then after that you kind of want to layer the bundle a little bit or the end a little bit i have these trimming scissors here with the little teeth thingies tried to cut it didn't work very well because the hair was so thick so i just went back to the normal scissors and just cut it upwards like that and that way the bottom of your hair doesn't look as even it just looks kind of weird when your hair is too even snip snip snip alrighty there we go let's see what it looks like right after the haircut i'm gonna wash my hair afterwards or after this um and show you what it looks like so here we are right after the cut you can see some layers and here's a mess though because it hasn't been washed yet so let me go wash it and i'll be right back okay let me show you the results this is what it looks like from the front nice and layered and here's the back it has a pretty deep v layer so not too shabby for a 3.99 haircut that only takes two minutes right i think the only thing i would change is i will probably tie my hair a little bit further back i think that would make it less of a v is a little bit too deep for my liking it's really layered if you can't tell i think i just wanted a little less dramatic so maybe next time i'm going to tie a little bit further back on my head and see if that changes things let me know what you guys think and if you would want to try it by yourself at home too please like and subscribe and i hope to see you next time bye
