DIY Murphy Bed - Bookshelf Wall Bed - HOW TO DO IT YOURSELF!

okay so this is a bookshelf uh murphy bed that i built in a couple days um i'm actually not a wood person uh so i'm not a i'm not a woodworker i'm not uh i don't have a lot of experience working with wood tools and so i used some very basic hand tools and so i'm making this video so you can so i can show you what you can do with some very basic stuff all i used was a circular saw um a jigsaw and a couple of drills that i had uh laying around and i bought some wood and put this together so i'm going to show you how it works i i'll open it up and get that bed down some of the paint's drying so you'll see me be a little bit careful not to get pain in my hands i still need to do a little more touch up but overall the the job stream was complete and this only took me a few days to get done so to make this work what would you do is you slide these two shelves apart um there's a rail up top and i'll show you a picture of that if you can buy this uh the rail at any hardware store i bought this one from uh the hardwood hardware store down the street from from my house it wasn't home depot home depot actually didn't have it so i had to have to get some roller bearings for it and the route so once you slide the shelves apart then you're able to bring down the bed so this actual bed mechanism that i have here i found it online for free someone was throwing it away it was a little bit rusted so i just i got it cleaned it up a little bit sanded it up and uh painted it i threw some wood on there to support the bed and i actually haven't gotten the mattress i found the mattress that i had in the spare bedroom for food futon so i threw that on there just to see if it could support the weight everything works but if you'll see it there i still need to put an actual mattress on it so it's a queen size bed and i'll show you how that works so [Music] so that's pretty much the bed platform right there and it's going to fit up to a 12-inch mattress so 12-inch thick mattress and um it's pretty straightforward now i'm going to go ahead and close it and show you how that works so remember that mattress is kind of just sitting there i said it's a futon mattress so it kind of slides back and forth once i get the actual mattress i'll put a simple strap right across it and they'll work out a lot smoother okay with the with a murphy bed up all you have to do is uh close the door drawers and there you have it [Applause] [Applause] so [Applause] [Applause] okay thank you [Applause] so so so i'm going to pre-drill the holes because the wood's kind of thin [Music] here for the sliding part of the of the bookshelf what i'm going to be using is this hardware right here and what it is it's uh it's some bearings that slide on the track and i have four of those so i'll open those up and then we'll see how we're gonna set here's the track that they're going to be going on and the way it works is that they slide on the track like this so so so so oh so so okay [Applause] foreign so so you
