DIY Garage Makeover

I have partnered up with Home Depot to show you how I transformed my garage space into the one-stop shop for cleaning organizing and just constant inspiration the previous owners of this home had these shelves in the garage already and so we just jam-packed them full of any and everything we didn't want to see but we wanted to keep with that being said the first step to any proper garage makeover is going through all of your items whether you're trashing them donating them or putting them into storage when you open our garage this is what you see and it's a complete mess obviously we're gonna work through it but this is where I wanted to host the workbench and be the focal point of the entire garage for me when approaching this garage makeover it was my first time to be completely honest so I opened up all my shelves and just kind of assess what I had in front of me and that made heading into organizing like pulling things off and having a place for them on the garage floor a lot easier in my opinion I went through this wall and took everything off of the shelves and start to organize it like I said but in order to clear this out I needed to organize the other wall as well that had storage on it so I'm continuing that same old process once I got this downton organized chaos I decided to go ahead and shop with the cleaning supplies I'm gonna need to tidy all this out I totally look like a mess but we're gonna switch to iPhone footage because I am so awkward with going myself in public places so just bear with me with the quality for a second while we go shopping for some cleaning supplies [Music] I held off on cleaning anything because the workbench is being delivered the next day it's 7:31 and as much as I want to show you my face I this is early for me the goal for the next couple of hours is to get everything in these storage bins and these huge cabinets taking down from the wall I might just completely take them down myself bear with me for the pajamas this is the reality when I do my garage I'm in pajamas Home Depot actually shipped me about 15 of these Sterlite storage bins and of course I love them because they had black handles instead of like the weird green ones or the red ones so not just my aesthetic plus they're clear so I can see directly through them versus having to open every single box to find what I need prior to packing these guys full I went in with a Windex disinfecting spray and just got rid of all the excess dust so that way the already dusty items weren't super like more dusty if that makes sense or I'm just crazy I don't know these storage bins I'm not even kidding held so much stuff to the point where I could pack them full they weren't too heavy and I can actually demo the shelving that was on the wall that you saw previously I popped the lids on to those guys and push them out of the way of the pile in the middle so I know what's done and what is not the work for shirt getting there we have one been left to use this is just to organize but I want to do this shelving first then we got that is all donations this is stuff I can finagle into our other storage and then this is all trash and we got some boxes back there but first we got to handle these guys I was on a mission and I broke down all of the shelving in the garage and scooted it out to our side yard just in time for the delivery of the workbench I swept up a bit and then the guy was pulling it into the garage and it didn't fit so we had to go along the other side to my smaller garage and work its way in but now this thing is massive and I'm realizing how the heck am I gonna move it by myself I didn't want to tackle that alone because it's fully unsafe so the next move that I made was literally going through and picking up all the trash and really really really compacting these piles down and moving them out of the way to make sure I have space to actually install the workbench when I need to take it apart thank goodness we got help from the boys but boys will be boys yes yes how are you feyza I was so excited I was I can't even talk right now I was unwrapping a huge Christmas present in my eyes this thing is so beautiful and the manual is crystal clear in the installation process it does take a little bit of time so you're gonna see the lighting get bad cuz I just wanted to finish it but anyone can do it the two pieces that will be holding the tabletop I made sure that the legs and the little feet guys were level before screwing it in per the instructions this is where the lighting gets a little terrible because I came back out later in the night since I was so pumped on this to finish setting it up I ended up drilling those support studs into the existing studs behind that drywall since there were no dry wall studs where I needed to them to be to hang behind the cabinet not sure if that made sense but that is also in the manual now you can really see this new-age Pro workbench in all its glory I opened it up and I just started adding my storage boxes to it slowly but surely installing the shelving as I went along instead of using this as a coat hanger I decided to use it as a cleaning product hanger so I hung all my bottles that I'm always grabbing for and it just makes it easier when you're storing it and you can utilize that bottom shelf or whatever else now that I got the chunkier items out of the way and stored in the taller cabinets I decided to work within my drawers so now I'm just gonna use the organization dealios that are sent along with your workbench and separate some of my items I didn't realize how much I had stored sporadically throughout my garage and it was just taking up an overwhelming amount of space and because I'm not your typical DIY youtuber I utilize power tools but then one day I'm wrapping a present or making cupcakes I was able to like step back and divide all of my personalities but also put it in one spot so I'm not running all around it's literally right there in front of me so you can see this is more like workshop woodworking and then right underneath it is all my random DIY supplies moving on to the right hand side where their trash can is there are grab-and-go containers for easy access and storage for like nails and screws and whatnot and they were originally blue and absolutely stunning but you know I love just adding my detail and I love gold so I just decided to spray paint them all gold [Music] like I said before I am spread throughout the entire garage so I just took everything that you see here the little things and knickknacks and I just started piling them into those small containers I ended up keeping just like the nails in the screws on the left-hand side for all my power tools and on the right hand side was more craft based items I purchased two more of these really rad containers from Home Depot you can remove the little center pieces and replace them so like if you're working on different projects you can spread yourself throughout the area but of course I spray painted it gold and then this guy again was designated to some random craft stuff that I had laying around tried to clean the bins as I stacked them on themselves and these are the craft pins that you saw double stacked on the steel shelving it all fit into here now that all of my organizing into this workbench area is complete it is time for the detailing which is the funnest part we are kicking it off with a bang this Magic Chef refrigerator and it has a spin tijd i'b it slides right underneath this tabletop and just it totally makes the workbench it's amazing but in all seriousness this is the Magic Chef retro Edition and it actually is way bigger than I thought it was going to be you do want to make sure when you slide this in or put this wherever you want to you have the proper spacing for ventilation on the sides which is five inches the wall space right above the fridge I am actually turning into the area where I'm going to storyboard all of my ideas and just really have it as a moment of inspiration that way when I always look over I'm constantly fired up to create obviously everybody is going to decorate differently but for me I just did some simple wood shelves a piece of art that I had that I truly loved and then my markers pencils chargers my batteries measuring tapes and something to play music hanging on that wall because that's what's gonna keep me inspired this is how it's looking so far and no we are not done because I am even more crazy and added the similar bulb lighting that you seen hanging from my ceiling I added it underneath and studded like a fluorescent LED light I also went ahead and wipe down every single bulb in my garage I'm telling you installing the support bench and detailing it just got me so fired up the time I finished cleaning those bulbs I decided I wanted to add a fourth shelf which was just longer in the same dimensions as my other ones and I utilized that to put all of my other pencils pens and home depot to work last but not least it's the cleaning stage so I have some Clark swipes on hand you guys saw my cleaning products earlier I have a whole cabinet dedicated to paper towels because your girl needs them with the amount of messes I make in this garage and I actually throw 9 to the top of the cabinets which I had Paul film since I couldn't do that myself [Music] this is f degreaser is perfect for the tougher stains like the grease buildup on the bottom of the cabinet so I used that and then I also use some outdoor Clorox bleach to bleach my garage floor to remove some stains for the strength of the mixture that you need it's gonna be on the back of the bottle so make sure to double check it but basically what you do is mix that together and scrub it on to the concrete floor I'm using my Maximizer push broom you let it sit for about 15 minutes so then you go back in and you rinse it thoroughly I only did this process once and it picked up so many stains I'm gonna go back over it now that all the cleaning is complete I can just put everything away step back and enjoy this transformation I went ahead and emptied out my trash can and put a new bag that way for my future messes I can stock this thing up and I don't have to use these little tiny Home Depot buckets which I love but I'd rather use those for other things I can't even express how thankful I am to Home Depot for allowing me to partner up to be a part of this clean sweet campaign to show you guys how you can
