hello guys is Tony now my daughter is graduating this week so I have very little time to get in my backyard together and like I mentioned in my last video we had a bunch of trees cut down and it made a big mess in the yard I fixed up one side of the yard and created this nice little bistro patio on the other side of the yard there were a whole lot of trees cut down and it created a big open space that we needed to do a lot of work on my booth mentioned that they would love to have a fire pit in the backyard and I thought why not let's try to clean up this mess and see if we could build a fire pit oh and we can also make a larger version of a patio like we did on the other side now this was a little ambitious to do in a week but I had all the boys working and we leveled out an area for a patio and a fireplace the boys move dirt from other parts of the yard to make a circular Plateau for the patio we picked up about 40 retaining wall stones for the fire pit and 70 pavers for the patio I watched a few videos on the easiest way to make a fire pit and a top right is a link to the video that I watched but we use 10 large retaining wall stones and we positioned them around to make a circle we also dug a deep hole in the center so that water could drain when a fire pit is open respect the stones three levels high overlapping machines unfortunately these stones have a little lip at the edge on just a third level we chiseled off the lip because it started to bend downward a little then we added a fourth and last level of stones we use P pebbles to fill the hole and cover the inside bottom cousins fire pit so now I have a quick fire pit that's ready to burn large pieces of wood now because I also want to have small fires and I want to barbecue on this I bought this small 28 inch fire pit from Walmart if it's perfectly inside my fire pit and it comes with a fire pit screen cover I also picked up a large 21 inch charcoal grill grade so that I can use this for barbecue to make the patio for the fire pit I use easy flex edging to make a circle around the fire pit I measure 58 inches from the fire pit to the edge then we fill the inside of the circle with bags of paver sand to help position and level the pavers we laid out nine pavers evenly around the fire pit and four pavers out towards the edge for each then we laid out rows of three in between the rows of four after positioning a level in each paver we poured out bags of peat petals and we sweep the pebbles over and in between the cracks to make a nice even surface [Music] after we finish the patio we surrounded it with plants and mulch and rocks that I was lucky enough to find in a wooded area of my yard some of these rocks are concrete pieces that they broke up when we redid my driveway but they look very nice around this fire pit on a patio itself I added a few large pots with evergreens and I may also decide to add flowers or vines to spill over inside these pots next I added seating for the fire pit these look like heavy wicker chairs but I didn't want to spend a lot of money right now so I got these sturdy plastic chairs and look like wicker from Walmart for just $20 each I added outdoor cushions I found that Walmart and pillows from sand and it's feeding should work great for the party until we decide to get a nice outdoor furniture set put wild this view looks really great from the window this turned out really fantastic to say we did it all ourselves now let's test out that fire pit we have a gas grill on a deck but there's nothing like the taste of charcoal grilling so I'd really like to use this fire pit to cook the food for the graduation party the fire pit pan has a little hole in it so I think the fat from the meat may be able to drip from that hole so I put a pan underneath the fire pit pan to catch the drippings this came with a little rack to put your wood on I'm going to spread a little charcoal out on the rack light it and put my grade on top of that now that's a fire after the flames died down and the codes got hot we grilled up some juicy hamburgers and barbeque vids and since I do not have a hood for this girl I'm using a roasting pan to have cover and smoke my meat but I have to say that was the best barbecue I've tasted in a long time it was so good so thanks to all the hard work of my sons some of their friends and my gardener Bernal we were able to go from this to this so to build this fire pit slash grill plus the patio it costs us a little less than three hundred dollars and I think we're all going to really enjoy our fire pit for a long time okay now it's back to the rest of the yard I will see you next time at the graduation party [Music] follow me on Facebook Pinterest Instagram and snapchat at your house a home in your house a home TV for daily home food and gardening tips
