these are the most advanced animatronics of the a1000 series that Disney has brought to its new attractions I'm Walt the animatronic duck and today will Engle joins me to explore all the new animatronics and attractions coming to the parks as well as recent debuts from free roaming animatronics to interactive experiences let's start with Tiana's byou Adventure this ride has been surrounded by controversy since Disney announced it would replace Splash Mountain the announcement came in 2020 and many feared that this replacement would be a cheap overlay however all those doubts were dispelled when Disney released a teaser showcasing the technology and above all the new a1000 animatronics that this ride would feature this announcement even impressed the staunchest attractors and how could it not the company is bringing the best available technology to this attraction let me explain to you what animatronics are and how these new a1000 animatronics work the process of creating the animatronics for this ride starts with establishing the story and determining what the characters will be doing in each scene so it begins with digital visualization using 3D animation the idea behind this is to make guests believe they are seeing the characters from the movie this is a team effort because animators have to work closely with the mechanical engineering and surface design teams it's literally bringing imagination to engineering which is essentially what the word imagineer means one one challenge that imagineers may encounter is with costumes programmers like Rob Fox the senior show programmer can conceive countless movements but when costumes and cosmetics are added these movements may not work therefore they must work closely with designers like Heather green to compromise and achieve the best costumes with the best movements these animatronics are filled with motors for example Tiana's hand has three motors one for twisting and two for moving back and forth so it's crucial to design the costume in a way that doesn't obstruct these movements however the star of this ride at least for us is the new impressive animatronic of Lewis the alligator you'll soon understand why Sunny Chapman the principal illusion maker explains that this technological Marvel is one of the largest and most dynamic animatronics Disney has ever built it's full of motors and has a multitude of movable Parts all these layers must move in synchronization the Wonder of this new technology is that in the past Hydraulics were used for animatronics which didn't allow for movements as fluid and precise as Lewis this is because this megatronic crocodile is completely electric so its movements are insanely precise but to create these precise movements an expert programmer is needed Pascal Sebastian redon is a figure programmer responsible for training the animatronic and ensuring that the figure is mechanically ready and that all its components are in place at the same time checking that no shell collides he ensures that the figure can move correctly the incredible thing about these tests is that each actuator can be checked independently for example if the programmer needs to check the movements of the head they can isolate that animation and only move those Motors it's crucial that this animatronic is perfect because it's the first leis animatronic that guests will see when they enter the Bayou for the first time and the one that will welcome them one of the main challenges for the team and especially for Jessica baso the show programmer is to demonstrate and convey the emotion and happiness of the animatronic to achieve this they need to make it appear as happy as possible they achieve this thanks to the animation they put on its belly which makes it move up and down programmers can add key frames to the program and adjust the animation curves to add more movements or exaggerate them for those who have studied animation they know that each controller represents each actuator so they can isolate and move them independently or have all the curves at once this ride will be full of animatronics like Mama ODI lahi naveen's brother Ralphie and more new characters Disney has just announced that the ride will officially opened on June 28th at Magic Kingdom in Orlando with previews for passholders DBC members and d23 members starting from June 18th this ride will prove that Disney parks are more alive than ever and continue to dominate in terms of technology and experiences and if you still have doubts wait until you see the next rides in animatronics if you enjoy animatronics and this channel join our patreon for special shorts for members and plenty of rewards it's a great way to support us in continuing to create content by the way what do you want me to dress up as in the next video about crocodile animatronics part two looking forward to hearing from you in the comments Star Wars bdx droids on training in our video last week we discuss project kiwi an initiative by Disney to bring interactive experiences with characters in a way never seen before this project initially produced Groot but by the end of 2023 it put this project into practice with these adorable animatronics by the way Walt told me that they are distant cousins from his Rogue family living in Bat these robots may look like a kind of small duck but the technology behind them is extremely complex and I'll tell you a bit about how it works these Droids are designed to be as innocent as possible with the idea that they're curious and playful like a young child the engineers at Disney imagineering created a mechanical system that allows these robots to swing and move naturally and autonomously the task was to create a relatable character and not just a robot these robots are autonomous and were trained to learn expressive motions this is achieved by putting them into a kind of simulation and the animator gives them tasks to develop all of this in a virtual environment after this they are taken to public places where they have to use all the knowledge gained thanks to computer simulations these robots can learn behaviors that in real life would take years instead of days due to the technology in these same situations these robots are 3D printed which allows them to be produced quickly and efficiently a new unit can be built and trained in less than a year when they were put to the test in early 2024 people were amazed to see these robots walking around Galaxy's Edge online and in our community we saw the typical comment of are they making FNAF in real life by the way it's not directly related but imagine a FNAF themed Pizzeria with this technology Universal if you're watching this video what are you waiting for but joking aside this technology is going to elevate character interactions like we've never seen before and we can see that with following examples that will leave you amazed indestructible Dynamic robot prototype this video has stirred up a lot of comments in our recent shorts and it's to No Surprise many people have been fascinated and left speechless by the technological advances while a few have been terrified by the sight of an autonomous and worse yet indestructible Dynamic robot it evokes memories of Skynet or the creations of Henry Emily and William Aton however this is far from the truth the indestructible Dynamic robot prototype was unveiled during sxsw 2023 by Josh tomaro introducing a unique premise bringing Park characters to life like never seen before exactly as they appear in the movies with real scale and proportions but how was this achieved this is where Morgan Pope and Tony DOI from imagineering come into play when these two experts took the stage with a wooden box there was a sense of confusion among the audience their genuine nervousness and excitement further heighten the anticipation they're responsible for creating Dynamic robots designed to withstand unprecedented tests for example this is the same division that created the stun tronic we discussed in our previous video or this incredible robot that can be launched from any height without the need for a safety net thanks to propulsion technology reminiscent of Tony Stark's inventions Morgan Pope explains that robotics is essentially about precision repeatability and in human Perfection as he finishes the sentence a dynamic robot emerges from the wood box swiftly leaps onto the stage and stands impressively thus the first indestructible Dynamic robot prototype is revealed this time in the form of Judy hops from zootopia this robot is developed with high performance materials and leverages mechanical scaling effects what's fascinating about this prototype is that they used motion capture data to train the robot allowing for performance is imbued with genuine emotions before concluding the presentation the team asked Judy to perform her big stunt in front of the audience quickly Judy gained speed on her skates and performed a curious pirouette a listening Applause from the crowd this is truly impressive and while this robot may not be as advanced as those from Boston Dynamics it's a significant step forward for the theme park industry we can't wait to see it in action at the parks but this isn't the only experience Disney is working on with their indestructible Dynamic robots which brings us to our next segment Duke weaselton another project from the indestructible Dynamic robots initiative was unveiled in December 2023 this time Josh dearo surprised the audience with an interactive robot of Duke weaselton he made a grand entrance by Rolling across the stage while pushing a vibrant purple kiosk all while playing catchy pop music he then effortlessly hopped onto the kiosk and attempted to persuade Josh to Grant him the esteemed title of honorary ambassador of zootopia this Dynamic robot has a wide range of dynamic movements and expressive animated facial features this remarkable achievement was made possible through the collaboration of not one but two synchronized robots remarkably not only Duke was a robotic figure but the kiosk itself was also part of this technological Marvel this robot as we've mentioned is from the same family as the stun tronic and Judy hops that we saw in the previous segment now that we've covered this technology let's take a look at more animatronics that are about to arrive in new attractions in a new land at Tokyo Disney sea Frozen animatronics the new Frozen ride at Tokyo Disney C features some of the most impressive animatronics we have ever seen and in a moment we'll show you all of them but these are not the first Frozen animatronics when frozen ever after opened in 2016 guest received it with great excitement resulting in long lines and positive reviews however one of the complaints about the ride was the animatronics how is this possible you might ask if the ride has super fluid animatronics the answer is quite simple the faces of these animatronics were projected onto screens which ruined the aesthetic and gracefulness this type of animatronic can also be seen in other rides like buzz Lighty your astrol blasters and the Seven dwarf's mind train it's technology that works well in some examples such as Mickey and Minnie's runaway Railway but not so much in others when the new Frozen attractions were announced for Hong Kong Disneyland Disneyland Paris and Tokyo Disney C many feared that Disney would return to those Dreadful animatronics with projected faces but to the surprise of many Disney announced at d23 an a1000 animatronic of Elsa this indicated that they would be using the latest generation of animatronics for these attractions in November 2023 the Frozen land and Frozen ever after finally opened at Hong Kong Disneyland this ride is a replica of the one in Florida with the significant exception that it features a1000 animatronics the same land and ride are expected to open soon at Disneyland Paris however what we're here to talk about are the animatronics in Anna and Elsa's Frozen Journey a completely new ride set to open at Tokyo Disney C with new scenes and incredible animatronics in this ride the Journey of Anna and Elsa is recreated the queue is impressive taking us through the Castle of Arendelle filled with Easter eggs and great details first we encounter animatronics of the trolls which show us moments from the childhood of Anna and Elsa through projections here we find two hyper fluid animatronics of Anna and Elsa look at the detail in their expressions and movements you can truly feel Elsa's sadness thanks to the excellent programming of these animatronics the ride continues with an animatronic of Anna performing For The First Time in Forever leading to Elsa's room these a1000 animatronics can genuinely convey emotions through their complex sequences it's as if you are watching an actor because you can feel the performance one of the most impressive scenes in our opinion is the one with a large number of animatronics Disney created an animatronic of Hans and interestingly one of the Duke of Weselton this is the scene where Elsa launches ice spikes leaving everyone amazed the effect of the ice spikes works perfectly giving that touch that makes these rides topnotch an incredible detail is that the fountains also freeze when Elsa launches her attack after this we pass through a scene with more advanced animatronics of Olaf Anna Kristoff and Sven then we see Elsa performing her famous Let It Go achieved with three animatronics this scene is on another level thanks to the synchronization of the animatronics with the projections simulating Elsa bu building her ice castle Disney went all out as we can see another animatronic of Anna capable of standing and falling to her knees in despair if that wasn't enough we reached the climax of the story where we see the scene with Anna Frozen this in our opinion is the most impressive effect of the ride as we magically see Anna Thaw this effect is achieved through projections and a special system for Hest Cape which we can assume works like when you extend and retract a tent the ride ends with a celebration full of animatronics this is undoubtedly the dark ride with the best animatronics in the world what the imagineering team has achieved is impressive we are blown away by what is now possible with these a1000 animatronics Rapunzel's lantern festival with Fantasy Springs opening very soon in 2024 Tokyo Disney SE is set to feature three new lands the kingdom of Arendelle Neverland and of course the kingdom of Corona this new section is themed after the Tangled movie and this was a long overdue representation of this movie at the parks we love that we're able to meet these characters at the parks and of course the Tangled theme area at Disney world is beautiful but being Tangled fans ourselves we needed more and now we've got it the area includes many features like a full restaurant themed after the snuggly duckling this land is a dream for any Tangled fan and has everything we ever dream of and of course one of the highlights of this new land is a boat ride themed around the Lantern Festival where Rapunzel's Best Day Ever is recreated the ride is completely filled with animatronics and even if they are not of the a1000 caliber like those in the Frozen ride they are still spectacular in design appearing straight out of the movie to start we see Rapunzel singing outside her Tower a great detail because this Tower can be seen from outside the ride and the whole whole scene is beautiful she's looking out of her Tower into the world and singing then we encounter animatronics of Flynn Ryder and Maximus Flynn is seen holding on to his satchel and hiding from Maximus who is very close to finding him next we enter the forest section where we find an animated prop of Rapunzel hanging off a tree with her hair going around a very cool Flynn animatronic who's happily watching her go round and round in this scene we also see a very cute and small pass scal animatronic we move forward and see the snuggly duckling before arriving into the scene where Rapunzel shows Flynn her powers by healing him this scene is beautiful all around the way the light changes in the whole scene when Rapunzel's hair lights up is fantastic Rapunzel's expression while singing is so realistic and cute and the way Flynn looks completely surprised by her magic is like straight out of the film we also love seeing Pascal's animatronic signaling his hand just like he does in the movie you would think that this ride couldn't get more beautiful after this scene but you're in for a great surprise we've reached the highlight of the ride where imagineers completely recreated the lantern scene we first get an overview of the kingdom and get to see how using projection technology the lanterns begin to emerge from the castle but then we go under a bridge into probably the most stunning scene in any Disney ride in our very biased opinion surrounded by beautiful lanterns we turned to see Rapunzel and Flynn holding hands and singing with Pascal watching close behind the way imagineers brought this scene to life is spectacular the actual boat props work perfectly with the screen projection background and of course the music and sound effects are sure to bring a tear to your eye and the way the track surrounds the boat is very cool you might never want to leave this scene but the ride must come to an end but before we leave we get to see some very cute and funny animatronics of our favorite Pub thugs while this ride is shorter than we would like it to be it is beautiful and Charming much like this new area of the park and even though these animatronics are a bit more simple than the ones in the Frozen ride they are very impressive and advanced this ride and all of Fantasy Springs is so fantastic we hope to get to see projects like these in the new Disneyland forward project that has just been approved and that concludes our list if you enjoyed the video please subscribe and leave a like and if you're hungry for more check out these impressive animatronics from zootopia or those from the Beauty and the Beast ride see you next week
