wreck-it Ralph is the kind of movie franchise that defies gravity audiences always go in expecting a low effort story but come out with something totally different a big part of that is the animation style of the movie that makes it feel so light and fun the downside is that animation style isn't for everyone and the vendor wants to showcase some of the best and worst examples of wreck-it Ralph makeovers that happen to Disney characters let's get to it [Music] starting out strong we begin with the princess under the sea Ariel has a one-of-a-kind look kids instantly recognize her and the red hair is simply iconic which is wild considering her character design features two entirely different concepts there's the mermaid version of Ariel that everyone is familiar with nowadays you could be living under a rock and still know this version of Ariel anti Disney fanatics even see this version of the character it's that recognizable however it's the land version that is covered in the movie and that just so happens to be the look that's less associated with the character in the original version Ariel's dress is dull and the lines of her character are soft she isn't defined in the frame as well as other animated characters the distinction between her and the background is mute in contrast the wreckit-ralph version stands out as bright and bubbly her hair is a glowing bright red and her dress is decorated with sparkles all the everyday parts of her original look are upgraded while still maintaining the characters unique shape it feels close to the Ariel fans adore but they improve her enough to make her stand out better this is a prime example of a character being enhanced we've seen Snow White turned into animation before and one of the Shrek sequels it wasn't the Disney character that we've all grown to love over the many years of service that she provided a childhoods and fandom alike that Snow White felt like an earthy and dull version of the character the Disney animated version holds a lot more color she walks with the joy and carries herself with empathy for many people growing up Snow White was the first Disney Princess that they were shown her look is iconic and any deviation from it feels like a disservice to the character lucky for us this wreck-it ralph sequel doesn't take many risks with Snow White they try to keep her true to form and it pays off her nose is barely existent but that's true to the character the eyes are big and round with thin eyebrows just like the original version it honestly looks like they pulled the two-dimensional characters into a three-dimensional space and that's the whole point of these cameos to give audiences that feeling here that goal is achieved ten times over next to Snow White Cinderella is probably one of the most seen princesses and Disney's catalogue her fable is famous in her character arc is iconic everything about her screams classic and regal everything including the look Cinderella's glow up is one of the most fantastic early Disney scenes fans are led to believe that the magic of her fairy godmother gives her this luxurious and elegant look she's supposed to be a prime example of how a humble approach to your own worth can lead to extraordinary things she looks so adult when she turns into a princess for the ball everything about the original design shouts royalty sadly though the same can't be said for the animators design in this film honestly Cinderella looks like a cheap knockoff of the original version part of it is she feels a bit too childlike and not close enough to the adult that she's supposed to be in her film if they go too heavy on the bangs which is saying something because bangs work on her ultimately she looks like a weakened version of the real character they took away all of the elegance and replaced it with a look that just doesn't do her any favors [Music] all right cards on the table this movie could have included any member of the 100 Acre Woods group and it would have made this list I mean something about watching these loveable plush characters go from 2d to 3d is adorable past the point of words still though we're gonna do our best your moves distinctly he's sort of slumps when he walks which makes sense have you met your the dude is a little bit of a downer his head's always down and he talks like a man who's just he's seen better days it's part of what everyone loves about the character he or is a hopeless cynic but that makes it smiles worth more any time he's happy it's a special treat which brings us to ruff bricks the internet er is shown only for a brief moment of time and in that moment of time everything about the character is personified beautifully the slump in his stature is perf in the muted complexion spot on the best part is they keep him looking at plushy animators tend to make stuffed animals appear more lifelike when given a chance here they resist the temptation and the character is better for it seriously you can't look at that version of Eeyore and not want to give him a hug it's impossible well we're back into that critical part of our list aren't we we don't like to be too negative in these videos but some of these looks do need some criticism these are characters that ale a lot of people care about and doing them justice on the big screen is essential we think this entry really exemplifies that conundrum on the one hand it's about time people appreciate Pocahontas for the princess that she is however on the other hand the design of the character feels like it's lacking in some spots the most prominent complaint people tend to have is the jaw line it's okay that Pocahontas is shown as strong and sturdy and the jaw line helps with that but it comes to a bit of a sharp point it almost looks like they've boxed her face in a bit the animated version of the character has a strong chin but her face still holds a sincere shape here the look feels out of place and a bit too exaggerated the additions to her outfit are perfect but even her sidekick miko ends up looking a bit goofy some parts of the character design get lost in the shuffle and unfortunately it seems like they were essential parts of her character how how do you mess up a character that's already made as a 3d character we don't know the answer to that but apparently the animators of record Ralph to managed it poor buzz light you just got root alized in this version there's no question they messed him up to be fair buzz already looks sort of odd in his original design though chin thing with the bald head isn't doing many favours still though fans of the Toei expect a specific look when they see him and the creatives failed to get that look right here the fact that he's a background character in the scene is a big reason why it fails the audience isn't supposed to look at him for too long once you actually see him you notice all of the faults though the only thing that is right is the spacesuit his face lost all of its detail his eyebrows are non-existent in those rosy red cheeks they're eliminated on top of that it looks like they pushed his chin further into his face he looks like a flattened version of the real thing we'll toss this entry up to a rush job on a background scene but that doesn't get you a total pass everything the animators missed with the other princesses on our list they managed to get right with Jasmine here is an example of subtle changes helping the character stand out while still feeling true to form and that's lucky for Jasmine because not every princess they showed can say the same Jasmine looks incredibly dull in the Aladdin movie and it's a tragedy considering she's literally a princess and one of the most regarded modern-day characters to date honestly just gonna keep it real Jasmine doesn't get enough screen time in that movie and that's the actual problem here at least the animators for the record Ralph's sequel gave the character and her look the attention it deserves they took her facial features and recreated them true to form jasmine has large soft eyes and her original animation and she doesn't lose them in the crossover the eye shadow is adjusted to match the color contrast of the new space it makes the desired effect the subtle changes are actually delicate in the significant difference her outfit is the right risk giving her more glitz and adding that gold trim makes her feel more like the princess that she is with jasmine the additions genuinely pay off in a good way take everything that we just said about jasmine and flip it that's what happened to move on here the animators seem to miss the mark on the changes and barely added anything to her character design it almost feels like they forgot to include her at all Mulan is one of the Disney Princesses who goes through the most character designs I mean you know given the fact that she literally disguises herself as a soldier for half of the movie that makes sense right unfortunately that meant that the animators had a lot of styles to choose from when they animated her and it appears that they picked the safe route with her outfit and decided to change her entire facial structure now don't get us wrong some of the changes are excellent the blending and the cheeks and the eyebrow lines are spot-on however the jawline again it feels a bit miss drawn she suffers from the same box each in that Pocahontas received in a new look and on top of that her outfit is actually downgraded they took color away from it they didn't give her any of her friends to accompany her and the medallion that she earns isn't even included in the look so much of what makes her character unique is stripped away in this look it's a real shame don't worry that was the last of the Disney Princesses in this video it's time to turn the spotlight on to another titular character though yes ladies and gentlemen it's time to talk about the brief appearance of Dumbo he's one of those Disney characters a lot of people tend to forget about for some reason he's cute and friendly looking but the movie he's in feels like a lower tier film honestly most people just know the character but totally forget that there's an actual movie about him still it's not easy to get that transition into 3d right fans of the elephant just witnessed his transition into live-action and thankfully the CGI Dumbo managed to be just as cute as the original however it doesn't seem that hard to do considering the fact that these animators nailed the look to Dumbo soft carnival color palette is kept and the whimsical big eyes are on full display he even shows off that famous grin of his there were a few ways to mess this character up but the animation team seemed to avoid those pitfalls the last entry on our list would probably be mad that we kept him for last and the cherry on top is that he falls under the worst category poor grumpy the guy just can't catch a break the main character in the movie Snow White got an excellent treatment from the animators grumpy wasn't as lucky the famous dwarf was subject to some creative liberties in this movie the big one was the size difference yeah grumpy is supposed to be small however his whole body is supposed to be proportionate in this movie his head feels too large for its own good and the look feels off because of that he looks miniscule compared to his original look say what you will about the original design at least the head match to the body here it feels like they turned him into a bobble head and with that being said guys our list comes to a close did you disagree with an entry let us know in the comment section down below don't forget you can
