[Music] [Music] what's up [Music] [Music] thank you foreign Place Oahu is the most visited island of Hawaii and for good reason with stunning beaches incredible natural landscapes some of the world's best shark diving and conservation and a lively food scene Oahu really does have everything you need for a dream tropical getaway with us to see how to spend the perfect week in Oahu we start our trip to Oahu in Seattle Washington where we boarded a flight to Honolulu International Airport after arriving we got our rental car and headed straight to our hotel in Waikiki while it can be a bit busy we would recommend staying in Waikiki as a cost-effective and centralized location compared to the other spots around the island on our way into Honolulu we stopped at Safeway to grab some groceries and afterwards went next door to Genki Sushi for dinner Genki Sushi is a comparable sushi restaurant which made for a super fun way to start our trip [Music] after dinner we hit the early exhausted from the time change for our first full day on Oahu we set out to explore Waikiki in the nearby Manoa Falls Mike is 1.7 miles round trip and is absolutely gorgeous The Greenery is so abundant and Luscious throughout the entire hike at the end the waterfall is tall but a bit anti-climatic regardless it was a fantastic way to exercise a bit and spend the morning surrounded by Nature after the hike we headed back to kaimana Farm Cafe for lunch kaimana Farm is a delicious restaurant filled with fresh locally grown food we got the power Bento which was the perfect post hike lunch [Music] after lunch we headed down to the beautiful Waikiki Beach for an afternoon relaxing after arriving we stopped at banan for a delicious and refreshing banana ice cream this was a perfect and relatively healthy way to stay cool on a hot day after a relaxing afternoon at the beach we walked a few blocks to hide out at Lelo for dinner the fun and energetic environment at Hideout made for an awesome meal we topped off our dinner by walking down the street to get Hawaiian shaved ice this was my first ever time having Hawaiian shaved ice and it did not disappoint ice with some boba some Mochi and then organic ice cream underneath super excited wow really good the best shave ice in the world oh my goodness like the flavors the Boba the ice cream after our delicious shaved ice we headed back to the hotel excited for what the rest of our trip had to offer thank you we started the day by driving an hour to the North Shore where we would take part in what might be the most anticipated and the scariest part of our entire trip ever since we first saw sharks when snorkeling in St Thomas we have been fascinated by these apex predators as humans it feels like part of our nature to want to be in control it's a humbling experience to realize as we step into their world of the ocean that we are no longer the ones in control as we boarded the boat with one ocean diving we couldn't help but be excited and nervous as we were getting prepped on shark safety as it was tiger shark season this feeling was heightened as these were the second most dangerous sharks in the world second only to the great white shark [Music] as we hopped into the water we were immediately greeted by 10 foot long Galapagos sharks swimming below us as one of the planet's oldest species Sharks play a key role in the ecosystem by helping to maintain a healthy balance in the ocean it was incredible to see so many sharks so close to us in Open Water after 15 or so minutes of looking and diving with the sharks we looked up as we heard the crew above yelling tiger shark as we turned around within five feet from us was a 15 foot long tiger shark Frozen We stared aimlessly as this majestic beast circled us and our guide Dove down in an attempt to push the tiger shark away from us [Music] it wasn't absolutely humbling and incredible experience to be so close and vulnerable to such a powerful apex predator Rachel and I both agree that we never felt scared and instead were filled with a feeling of beauty and gratitude [Music] foreign as we headed back we learned more about shark conservation efforts and the awesome things that the team at one ocean diving are doing to help sharks if you are ever on Oahu we would highly recommend taking a dive with one ocean diving for us it was definitely one of the highlights of the trip and we can't wait to go back and do it again after our tour we headed to Giovanni's Shrimp Truck for what many would call the best shrimp on the island The Buttery garlic shrimp were absolutely delicious after lunch we headed 15 minutes to the Dole Plantation super cool to see as they really had never known how pineapples were grown the grounds were beautiful and while we were there we got to eat some delicious pineapple soft serve if you have more time you can take a tour of the entire grounds and see the process from start to finish of growing pineapples after Dole Plantation we enjoyed a relaxing evening at the shops at haleva and once again stopped for some delicious shaved ice at the famous Matsumoto shaved ice we got the Ichiban special which was absolutely delicious and a great way to end our day [Music] foreign [Music] day we set out to explore the Southeast region of Oahu we started the day by stopping at Leonards for some of their famous malasadas these Portuguese Donuts are made to order and are very tasty after Leonards we headed to Diamond Head for an iconic view of Honolulu and the Oahu Coastline if you plan to visit Diamondhead be sure to book in advance as you need to preserve a time slot the hike was relatively easy being paved most the way and provided spectacular reviews foreign [Music] we headed to the famous Ono steak and shrimp shack near Waimanalo for some local Hawaiian barbecue Ono is the Hawaiian word for delicious and the food certainly lived up to its name after lunch we drove just 20 minutes up the road to Lanikai beach for a relaxing afternoon and snorkeling if you don't plan to snorkel we would recommend going two minutes further to Kailua Beach which is a beautiful white sand beach with more convenient parking and Facilities [Music] everybody [Music] the snorkeling at Lanikai had low visibility but was beautiful and had tons of huge corals and fish we were even able to see a sea turtle just hanging out while we were there [Music] [Music] after our afternoon relaxing and snorkeling we headed into Honolulu for dinner and stopped at marigame udon for some traditional Japanese fast food [Music] after dinner we cross the street to ice monster for dessert our shaved ice at ice monster was huge we enjoyed all the fluffy fruity goodness we could eat but we couldn't finish the whole thing this was a delicious way to end our night foreign day we drove back to the North Shore to experience the Polynesian Cultural Center otherwise known as the PCC the PCC is a living museum with locals from throughout Polynesia who put on shows and give a glimpse into some of their local cultures and traditions [Music] with 42 acres of land and buildings representative of traditional Villages from throughout Polynesia it almost feels like you're traveling to different Islands as you walk through the park [Music] [Applause] thank you [Music] not really knowing what to expect we had a blast exploring the various Villages and learning about the different cultures it was a fantastic way to learn about more of this particular region of the world and definitely put some more travel destinations on our bucket list [Music] for dinner we opted for the buffet which was delicious if you are up for it you can opt for a traditional luau experience which we were told was amazing [Music] there are also tons of food trucks out front which have a variety of delicious food [Music] after dinner we stayed for the Breath of Life show which tells a story of a young boy growing up in Polynesia and what he learns about the importance of family Love Culture and tradition with fire dancing a touching story in over a hundred Polynesian actors we love the show and walked away with a much better understanding of the loja spirit we would certainly recommend adding the Polynesian Cultural Center towards the top of your Oahu bucket list foreign [Music] the next morning we set out to experience for ourselves the iconic hanama Bay snorkeling we have heard all about because of its popularity reservations for this famous snorkeling spot are released two days in advance at 7am local time and are usually fully booked out within the hour [Music] after arriving we were shown a short educational video about how to protect the reef while we were snorkeling along with some information on the types of fish that we would see and the local history of the bay [Music] the snorkeling at Hanauma Bay was unlike anywhere else we have ever snorkeled as is a nature reserve fishing is legal and thus the fish in the bay are huge and not very afraid of people which is awesome this made for a totally unique experience as we saw a gigantic fish in very shallow water which didn't make much of an effort to swim away from us [Music] [Music] [Music] after a relaxing morning at Hanauma Bay we set out to hike the willy willy Nui Bridge Trail [Music] this hike was not originally on our Oahu bucket list but was added when a local told us that it was their absolute favorite hike on the island [Music] as we reached the top of the willy willy Nui Trail we became surrounded by clouds and fog which was just so beautiful [Music] with almost 360 degree views of the island this hike was truly spectacular [Music] the locals did not lead us astray and this was probably our favorite hike we did on the island [Music] foreign for our sixth day we set out to explore the west side of the island the first stop for us was the infamous pink pill box this Shack on top of the mountain is a historic military bunker which was repurposed and is a popular tourist destination today the hike to the pillbox is short but very Steep and provides breathtaking views of the ocean and surrounding mountains [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] hike we headed down the road to eggs and things for a delicious brunch we got the strawberry Nutella Mochi waffle and the Kahlua pork eggs benedict which were both incredible Rachel and I both agree that it was some of the best breakfast we have ever had after brunch we headed down to Electric Beach Electric Beach gets his name from the electrical plant nearby which creates a unique underwater ecosystem that attracts an abundance of marine life after relaxing in the Sun for a bit we hopped in the water and swam out to the coral reef 40 yards off the coast [Music] foreign was beautiful and turned out to be the best snorkeling we did in all of Oahu the visibility was great and there were tons of beautiful corals and fish we were even lucky enough to see a pot of dolphins which was a surreal experience foreign [Music] to round off our day we made a quick six minute drive to the stunning mermaid caves these caves are a testament to the powerful erosive forces of the ocean and provide a fun experience for anyone who loves to Adventure [Music] it's recommended to visit the caves during low tide as the entrance is more visible and the water inside the cave is clearer making for an easier and more enjoyable swim foreign [Music] we started our final day in Oahu by visiting the beautiful Waimea Falls this stunning waterfall and swimming spot is a one mile hike from the parking lot through the Luscious Waimea Valley [Music] unfortunately because of heavy rainfall the night before we were unable to swim in the waterfall but we still thoroughly enjoyed the hike in the views it provided [Music] foreign [Music] fall we made our way to sharks Cove a beautiful snorkeling spot located just a few minutes down the road The Cove is surrounded by a wall of rocks which creates a naturally sheltered snorkeling spot this is a great spot to snorkel for all ages because of the calm and clear water the area is relatively small so it's not too difficult to get a close-up view of a variety of fish [Music] thank you [Music] after an afternoon of snorkeling and relaxing we walked across the street to Seven Brothers food truck it was a perfect way to top off our last day on the island as we watch the sunset and enjoyed our meal we couldn't help but be grateful for this beautiful part of the world and our opportunity to travel here Islands pristine beaches Lush rainforests rugged mountains incredible wildlife and Rich cultural heritage made our trip truly Unforgettable [Music] our seven days on Oahu made it easy to see why this is the most visited island of Hawaii we absolutely loved our trip and can't wait to come back as usual if you have the opportunity to visit Oahu we would highly recommend taking the trip and experiencing all that it has to offer for yourself [Music] hey everyone thanks so much for watching we really hope you enjoyed this video if you did it would really help us out if you gave us a like and subscribed we have tons
