KEEP IT HERE ON FOX WEATHER WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED. WILDFIRES FANNED IN PART BY WINDS FED IN FROM HURRICANE DORA, WELL OFF TO THE SOUTH WAS ABOUT 600 MILES OFF TO THE SOUTH, MORE SO FROM A STRONG HIGH PRESSURE REGION OFF TO THE NORTH, THEY'VE BEEN WREAKING HAVOC IN HAWAII. IT'S UNKNOWN YET WHAT CAUSED THE WILDFIRES RIGHT NOW, BUT PEOPLE ARE TAKING ACTION. THE UNITED STATES COAST GUARD RESCUED MAUI RESIDENTS THAT JUMPED INTO THE OCEAN. TO ESCAPE THE FLAMES THERE. UNITED STATES, REPRESENTATIVE JILL TOKUDA OF HAWAII'S SECOND CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT JOINS US NOW, CONGRESSWOMAN GREAT TO HAVE YOU WITH US HERE ON FOX WEATHER, BUT THESE SCENES HAVE BEEN AWFUL COMING IN FROM THE LAST 24 HOURS. HEARTBREAKING SCENES WHERE WE'VE SEEN ENTIRE COMMUNITIES BEING DESTROYED. WHAT'S THE WHAT'S THE ACTION HAPPENING RIGHT NOW IN THE FIGHT AGAINST THESE WILDFIRES? WHAT IAN, IT HAS BEEN ABSOLUTELY HEART WRENCHING, DEVASTATING FOR US TO WATCH. YOU KNOW , OUR HOME LITERALLY BEING DESTROYED. WE HAVEN'T SEEN SOMETHING LIKE THIS SINCE HURRICANE INIKI THAT TOOK OUT THE ISLAND OF KOH E. AND WHEN WE SAW PICTURES AS DAYLIGHT WAS EMERGING TODAY, JUST THE MASSIVE DEVASTATION OF A PLACE THAT WE LOVE WHERE SO MANY OF OUR MEMORIES ARE CREATED, AND IT REALLY HAS BEEN A FULL FORCE. YOU KNOW, AFFECT IN TERMS OF MAKING SURE THAT WE DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO SUPPORT THE RESIDENTS THERE. AS YOU SAID THE COAST GUARD LITERALLY PULLING PEOPLE OUT OF THE OCEAN THAT WERE FLEEING THEIR FROM SAFETY FROM THE FLAMES THAT WERE COMING UP. I SPOKE A LITTLE WHILE AGO WITH SECRETARY MAYORKAS. HE'S PLEDGED THE FULL SUPPORT OF ALL OF HIS AGENCIES TO MAKE SURE WE GET THE HELP THAT WE NEED FEMALE ALREADY COMING IN WITH MORE FIREFIGHTING SUPPORT THAT HAS MADE SUCH A DIFFERENCE FOR US TO KNOW THAT WE ARE GOING TO GO FORWARD WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S SUPPORT STANDING SIDE BY SIDE, A STATE COUNTY GOVERNMENT EVERYONE. THE PRIVATE SECTOR WE PULLED TOGETHER IN HAWAII. WE ARE OHANA, BUT WE NEED A LOT OF HELP. RIGHT NOW. THIS IS GOING TO BE SOMETHING THAT WILL REQUIRE A LOT OF WORK FOR QUITE SOME TIME GOING FORWARD. YES, THIS RESPONSE HAS TO BE A SWIFT ONE, BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT THE THREAT IS HERE. PART OF WHAT MAKES SITUATIONS LIKE THIS SO SCARY, SO DANGEROUS, SO DESTRUCTIVE IS BECAUSE OF THE SPEED AND THAT'S BEEN FUELED BY THE WINDS. NOW THANKFULLY, THAT HAS GOTTEN A BIT BETTER AS THESE WINDS DIAL BACK, BUT WHAT'S THAT BEEN LIKE FOR? THE CREWS THAT HAVE BEEN BATTLING THIS WILDFIRE AND DO YOU HAVE ANY NEW INFORMATION ON THE CONTAINMENT EFFORTS AS WELL AS SOME OF THE STRUCTURES? I DID SEE? THANKFULLY NO REPORTS OF ANY LIVES LOST, BUT THERE WERE NUMEROUS INJURIES. ABSOLUTELY WE ARE ALL JUST PRAYING AND HOPING TODAY THAT WE DON'T HAVE LOSS OF LIFE, BUT WE DO KNOW SADLY THAT IT IS GOING TO BE AN EFFORT TO GO THROUGH THE RUBBLE OF WHAT WAS LEFT OF SO MANY HOMES SO MANY BUSINESSES PUBLIC AREAS TO MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS NO ONE OUT THERE THAT NEEDS IMMEDIATE EMERGENCY HELP. AND AS YOU PROBABLY HEARD, OUR HOSPITALS HAVE BEEN OVERWHELMED, WE HAVE HAD TO FLY LIFE FLIGHTS TO HONOLULU FOR PEOPLE THAT WERE IN CRITICAL CONDITION. SO WE ARE STILL SENDING ALL OF OUR PRAYERS AND OUR LOVE TO EVERY SINGLE PERSON THERE AND WE'RE PRAYING. WE DON'T FIND ANY CASUALTIES AMONG THE RUBBLE, BUT WE KNOW THAT THE FIRE WAS SWIFT. THIS WAS IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT. MUCH OF THIS HAPPENED. UM AND SO SOME INDIVIDUALS SADLY MAY NOT HAVE MADE IT OUT OF THEIR HOMES. RIGHT NOW THAT WE HAVE TO DO IN TERMS OF BEING ABLE TO SUPPORT THOSE WHO LITERALLY HAD TO RUN OUT OF THEIR HOMES WITH JUST THE CLOTHES ON THEIR BACK BUSINESSES THAT ARE ON FOR GENERATIONS THAT NO LONGER HAVE A PLACE TO OPERATE. THIS IS TOUGH TIMES FOR OUR STATE. BUT I CAN ASSURE YOU WE ARE ALL WORKING HARD TO MAKE SURE THAT WE SUPPORT EVERY SINGLE INDIVIDUAL. UM THAT HAS BEEN IMPACTED BY THIS PART OF WHAT MAKES HAWAII SUCH A WONDERFUL AND UNIQUE PLACES, ITS GEOGRAPHY, BUT IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE, I HAVE TO IMAGINE THAT THAT MAKES IT ESPECIALLY CHALLENGING TO REACT TO A SITUATION LIKE THIS MOBILIZING TEAMS IN AN ISLAND CHAIN. WHAT'S THAT, LIKE IN THE IMMEDIATE AFTERMATH OF THE EARLY STAGES OF AN EVENT LIKE THIS, MAKING SURE YOU CAN MOBILIZE ALL THE RESOURCES POSSIBLE INTO THE REGIONS AFFECTED? WELL, JUST IMAGINE THIS, IAN, YOU CAN'T DRIVE OVER HELP. YOU CAN'T DRIVE ANOTHER TRUCK FIRE TRUCK IN OR AID IN OUR FOOD SUPPLIES OR WATER FROM A NEIGHBORING COUNTY. THIS HAS TO COME BY AIR. THIS HAS TO COME BY BARGE BY SEE, UM, THE STRONG WINDS THAT WE HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING AS A RESULT OF DORA HAVE HAMPERED OUR ABILITY TO REALLY GET OUT THERE QUICKLY AND EFFECTIVELY TO PUT OUT THESE FIRES. WE NEED TO KEEP EVERYONE SAFE. WE'VE GOT TO ALSO BE THINKING AND SENDING OUR PRAYERS TO ALL OF THE FIRST RESPONDERS OUT THERE THAT ARE RISKING LITERALLY LIFE AND LIVE. UM, TO TRY TO CONTAIN AND PUT OUT THIS FIRE IS TRYING TO, YOU KNOW, HELP INDIVIDUALS THAT ARE CAUGHT IN ALL OF THIS, TOO. AND SO IT IS VERY DIFFICULT. WE LOVE LIVING IN PARADISE AMONGST IRELAND'S STATE, BUT IT DOES POSE UNIQUE CHALLENGES THAT NO ONE ELSE IN THE CONTINENT FACES IN TERMS OF GETTING RESOURCES GETTING SUPPORT AND AID HELP QUICKLY TO US. BUT THE FACT IS AS THE FIRE BURNS. WHERE DO YOU GO TO SO MANY INDIVIDUALS LITERALLY LEAPING INTO THE OCEAN, FEARING FOR THEIR LIVES BECAUSE OF THE FLAMES AND THE WIND WHIPPING AROUND THEM IN THE DARK, JUST AWFUL SCENES, BUT WE ARE GLAD THAT THOSE WINDS ARE STARTING TO BACK OFF. THAT WILL BE THE TREND AS WE MOVE ON TO THE NEXT 48 HOURS OR SO AND THANKFULLY, THAT SHOULD ALLOW YOU TO GET A HOLD ON. THIS WILL BE THI
