Designer Dupes At Target | Come Shopping With Me! | Dominique Sachse

[Music] hey welcome to this week's video it's a bit of a road trip i was given the idea of doing a high-end outfit and then recreating it with more budget-friendly clothing items so i'm heading to my local target my favorite spot new one open right down the road it's so exciting i'm going to i have a mental note of what i have in my closet and i'm going to see if i can find some items to recreate that full head to toe outfit saving you some money and showing you some price comparisons so off we go [Music] of course we had a stop in the pajama department because you know it's here my favorites i seem to love a challenge i'm smizing at you [Music] okay so now that we're back home and ready to start this fashion show a couple of notes off of the top i want to let you know that all of the links to every target item purchased will be put in the description portion of the video if you click show more under this video while watching on your computer or the down arrow on the right hand side of your cell phone or tablet i even found some links to the higher end items as well not all for full disclosure i'm going to list the prices of each outfit now when i'm doing the high-end outfit that is full retail price you know i am a discount shopper i love resale and secondhand so all of my high-end pieces were not purchased at that price this is just if you were to go directly to the retailer and not find anything on sale so we're doing a full comparison that way i'm excited about this because there will be three different denim looks in this video which is awesome because there are so many different denim styles available right now so i i feel great that i get to feature at least a lot of the popular looks and maybe there's something in there for you i am mainly going to focus on the clothing there will be a few accessories included so for instance two pairs of shoes will be worn throughout the video i tried to find items that were as close as to what i have as possible so these two shoes the sam edelman on the right those are mine and the ones on the left are the target version that i purchased that are pretty dang close except for the platform up front and then there are two different purses that will be shown as well one of them is the designer purse that i bought on the real reel the other a purse that i purchased at target and please stay to the very end because i'm offering five takeaways from this whole experience that i think will be invaluable to you all right so let's move on to look number one this one is the high-end outfit that we're starting with first it's the lagence gisele necktie blouse in tan that blouse retails for 385 dollars i'm wearing good american good legs step hem jeans that retail for 99. a salvatore ferragamo suede croc purse this one as i mentioned i found on resale for 595 dollars and the sam edelman cade nude platform sandals come in at 120 again this is a very trendy look right now the skinny jeans the loose blousey top so that's high end now let's walk in the target version of this outfit the blouse is by a new day it's a long sleeve button down femme blouse in light brown this one comes in at 24.99 look at these high rise skinny jeans by universal thread they're in medium blue the denim 24.99 the denim from target feels incredible by the way lots of stretch in all of it i'm wearing a new day zip closure satchel handbag in beige it's beautiful simple and elegant for 35 dollars and there are the taupe square toe sandals that come in at twenty nine dollars so let's compare the prices high end outfit number one one thousand one hundred ninety nine dollars target outfit one 114.97 okay moving on to outfit number two we're comparing wrap dresses this time around my high-end wrap dress a classic of course by diane von furstenberg it's a jovi wrap dress this retails for 428 i actually rented this one on the real reel fell in love with it wound up purchasing it for half of the price so now let's compare it to what i found at target and this one is by knox rose it's a long sleeve floral wrap dress in smoke rose that's the name of the color i really love that kind of soft lavender it's uh again a wrap it's not a full on wrap dress this one has elastic around the waist with a sort of tie waistband that you can use to cinch in the waist it's a little bit longer than the other obviously fabric quality is going to be very different but again you know you're looking at a diane von furstenberg compared to a target dress and let's compare the prices the high-end version of this is 548 dollars all in the target version 64.98 all right outfit number three this one has some layers going on to it we're starting off with ralph lauren collection iconic style cashmere jersey crewneck sweater in lux cream for 690. you know ralph lauren can be pricey but also these can be staple pieces that you keep in your wardrobe forever and ever of course i found this on sale i'm wearing it with dorothy schumacher figure fitting cigar pants in mustard these clock in at 490 dollars i've got this elizabeth and james khaki jacket that i can wear over if it gets cool in the evening the jacket is 295 and of course the sam edelman sandals so now let's take a look at the target side of this this is a new day women's long sleeve linen t-shirt in cream for 15 knox rose mid-rise utility ankle pants these are cool they've got some neat little zipper detail they're flat in the torso area color is olive they are 29.99 and then i love this jacket because it's got this really cool hoodie attached to it it's by universal thread women's anorak jacket in olive green this comes in at forty dollars with the target sandals so now let's talk about the difference in the price and this is gonna be astonishing on the high-end side 1595. on the target side 124.98 cha-ching okay we're moving on to outfit number four this is a little bit trendier this is utilizing some of that puff sleeve that's really popular right now along with flared pants my first outfit is the high-end one the blouse is by amanda uprichard it's a tie-dye rosentop for dollars the jeans are by three by one nyc they're adeline split leg flare jeans for 275 dollars worn with the sam edelman sandals so now let's compare this very fun festive and summery outfit with the one that i found at target target's version starts with the blouse by a new day women's three-quarter sleeve voil top it's in green gingham for twenty dollars and to make it look like the other one i just gathered it at the waist and did a little knot on the side these jeans by the way oh my goodness they are pull on flares stretch stretch stretch they're so comfortable they're by knox rose high-rise pull-on jeans light wash for 29.99 and the sandals of course 29.99 so your price comparison the high-end outfit is 589 your target version seventy nine dollars and ninety eight cents last but not least we are on to outfit number five you know boyfriend jeans are all the rage they are so comfortable again this is the third style denim i'm featuring for you today so these jeans are by aged denim the phoebe vintage high waisted for 265 dollars they're very loose fitting as you can see i'm wearing this with a black rib top that i got from theory and this is just a classic wardrobe staple can be worn by itself or underneath blazers this top comes in at 225 dollars with the sam edelman sandals so let's take a look at the target version and see how this compares now if you're not a fan of holes in the jeans i'm sorry i tried my best to find some boyfriend jeans without holes they all had the tears in them so these are by wild fable they're mom jeans in medium blue wash and they are high waisted flat on the torso which i like they're 22 the top that i found to go with it is also by wild fable it's a women's button front rib knit cardigan it is a bit of a crop so you can find other black tops there that are longer this top is only 15 and of course the target sandals for 29.99 so your price comparison high-end version of the boyfriend look is 610 the target version 66.99 so there you have five completely different looks high end and low end not only on some style trends but also some pretty good comparisons i wanted things to look as similar as possible and not be too far off the beaten path where you would be saying well i don't know how you could really compare that so hopefully i was able to do that in your eyes so here are my five takeaways from this whole experience number one if you've ever shopped at target i personally find that i've got a size down so if i'm normally a four in a gene i'm a two in target or if i'm normally a small i go down to extra small i find that's how their sizing works and i think if things fit you a little better they also tend to look a little bit more expensive so that's takeaway number one number two always try to stick to wardrobe staples they're going to last you longer so for instance that cream color top that i had or those khaki pants you know those are just sort of utility staples or the khaki jacket you'll get use out of those year after year after year so you really get a lot of bang for your buck take away number three if you are going to shop a trend say a real big puffy sleeve i encourage you to shop at a place like target instead of high-end because you and i know that when we go through our closet and we do those wardrobe cleanouts what's the first thing that's going to get tossed or donated or sold the things that were super trendy a couple of years ago and then suddenly we find we have no use for them anymore so if you're going to shop trend try your best to do it at a more low end store resale and don't spend too much money number four on my list target pjs hands down are absolutely the best and number five the denim quality is surprisingly amazing now i have to say in full disclosure i have not washed their jeans over and over so i don't know how well they wash and how well they last in terms of fit comfort stretch and price point i cannot get over target jeans so those are my five takeaways
