hey what's going on guys and welcome to the first video of 2021 now the vehicle sitting behind me today is a 2012 ram 1500 and we are definitely starting this year off with a bang because this truck is an absolute mess okay so taking a quick look around the outside and besides all the snow on the truck there's quite a bit of dirt all around especially on the tailgate the wheels are really dirty and believe it or not but there's a nice shiny chrome bumper hiding under all of that corrosion but moving inside and this is where the real disaster is as this is easily the dirtiest truck interior that i have ever seen not only are the floor mats absolutely disgusting every single seat is super stained and the back seats are covered in drywall mud and if that's not enough every inch of trim and every single crevice is full of drywall dust the carpets are just as bad as there's debris and dog hair everywhere and there's even big piles of drywall mud on the rear door but just before we jump into this epic detail take a second and make sure you're subscribed to the channel i post a new video like this every week so if you've got the bell on you won't ever miss out on one all right well you have seen just how dirty this truck is so you know the transformation is going to be epic so as always guys sit back relax and enjoy [Music] okay so as i get started with the pressure washer here i'll first get all the snow blasted off the truck and then as i move down to the door with the truck being blocked it can be a little hard to tell how much dirt is on the paint so it's clear now that this truck is actually really dirty and if you're wondering this is only the second ram that i've ever had in with the last one being a little over a year ago [Music] [Music] moving to the back now and i figured i'd give you the background on this truck so when the owner dropped it off he was telling me that he just bought the truck from a drywaller who obviously used it as a work truck and having paid only two thousand dollars canadian as the guy was in a pinch and needed the money this detail is going to add a significant amount of value as it will likely be worth around 13 000 when i'm done so if the owner wanted to flip the truck he definitely could and probably make a nice chunk of money with very little effort [Music] [Music] [Music] moving to the door jambs now and as i've said before the pressure washer is the easiest way to get them clean there's no need to be scared to do this as if you spray at a steep angle and control the wand you can easily do this in a matter of a minute without a single drop going inside the truck [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] okay so getting the truck painted white with nice thick foam i'll go around with my detail geek boar's hair detail brush to agitate in all the crevices like around the emblems grill and of course behind the gas door which is somewhere that most people would overlook [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] turning to these dirty floor mats now and i'll first spray a liberal amount of my carpet solution on and then i'm using my medium green drill brush here as these mats definitely weren't the extra agitating ability and then starting with the pressure washer it's almost hard to believe just how much dirt was in these things [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh [Music] oh [Music] okay with the exterior clean and dry i'll turn my attention inside now and i'll start by removing the seats as i couldn't have done a proper job with them still in the truck and taking a look at what i'm dealing with here and yeah i definitely know this interior is likely going to take me 8 to 10 hours [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] now for those observant people out there you might have noticed my vacuum no longer has duct tape on it and that's because i splurged and i finally bought a new hose after all these years and if you've ever wondered why i typically only use the crevice attachment when i'm vacuuming it's because i get the most amount of suction with it on and it would be absolutely painful for me to have to switch between different attachments because i'd always be leaving the other one just out of reach so i feel i can be far more efficient using just the crevice attachment [Music] so now you've probably noticed that there's a fair bit of dog hair stuck in these carpets so using the lily brush is the easiest way to get the trapped hair pulled up to the surface so it can be sucked up and if any of you out there struggle with pet hair the lily brush is your answer and it will be the best 13 you've ever spent you can find them on my website at detailgeekautocare.com where worldwide shipping is available and they also make great gifts for people with pets [Music] [Music] oh [Music] now as i start to work my way around all the trim with my detail brushes i'm using the boar's hair for most of the job as its bristles are stiff enough to be able to dig some of the dirt and drywall dust out of the crevices but then for any sensitive plastics that are more prone to scratching i'll switch over to the ultra soft brush and basically the reason i do this step at all is so that it makes steaming everything later on easier and things won't be nearly as messy when i do [Music] [Music] okay so it's time now to tackle these filthy seats and with a vehicle as abused as this one was it definitely makes it a lot harder and sometimes impossible to get it looking perfect again so me being a perfectionist that means i'm going to be doing my very best to get it perfect but i do have to accept the fact that sometimes things are too damaged to look new again [Music] [Music] so not being happy with the results yet i'm going to repeat the process until i don't see any more improvement and then i will plan to hit the remaining areas later on when i've got the steamer out [Music] uh [Music] [Music] now working on the rear seat here and you might have noticed i'm using my medium green drill brush for the seats and that's because the soft white one wouldn't have quite enough agitating ability since these stains are so bad but the nice thing about these green ones is that i specifically had them made a little bit less stiff than other medium ones on the market so they are way less likely to cause any damage to carpet or upholstery in situations like this where i have to use them very aggressively to loosen up a stain so if any of you have been thinking about picking up a set you can find them on my website at detailgeekautocare.com which is the first link in the description [Music] [Music] [Music] so now for this big white blotch in the middle of the seat oddly enough it could only be seen when the light was reflecting off it just the right way so i'm really not sure why that was but from the perspective i'm working from right now i couldn't see it although i did end up hitting all the seats with the steamer later on and did manage to improve it [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] moving to the front middle seat now and i wanted to remind you all if you haven't seen it yet that the first annual detail geek awards video was posted last week where i named winners in 15 different categories out of all the details that i did in 2020 and i think it's pretty entertaining and a nice way to recap the year so make sure you guys give that one a look [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] moving up to the driver's foot well now which was one of the dirtiest areas and if you've been wondering which extractor i'm using that has practically been working magic on this truck well it's a bissell spot clean professional and is by far the best extractor on the market at its price point so for those of you who enjoy detailing your own vehicle it is something i would highly recommend as it can also be used inside the house too so if you're interested the link is down in the description for you [Music] [Music] here's the bucket and a half of super dirty water pulled from the truck gross okay so since this interior is a total mess using the steamer here is the best way to tackle it so i'll first start by hitting all the crevices without an attachment on the steamer as it will give me a higher velocity blast of steam and it can easily loosen stuff up and then for all the flat surfaces like where all the drywall mud is i'll throw on the brush attachment which can also easily loosen that up so i can just wipe it down after and for the speaker grille again the steamer is the only way you're getting that clean so i'll be sure to spray it at an angle to limit the amount of steam getting behind it although provided you work quick there is absolutely no issue doing this around speakers or electrical switches [Music] so [Music] [Music] another area the steamer comes in really handy is for the air vents as that's usually an area where dirt collects and can be hard to reach so blasting some steam through them is definitely the easiest way to clean these [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] uh [Music] okay so once again with a cup holder this dirty and gross the steamer is the best way to get it clean so with some apc sprayed on i'll throw the brush attachment on and after less than a minute it's honestly looking brand new again [Music] all right with the interior clean now i'll start on applying 303's aerospace protectant to uv protect and restore a bit of the depth to the trim as it's definitely faded and worn in a lot of spots so when this dries it's going to rejuvenate the entire interior and leave it with that freshly detailed look that just looks incredible [Music] yes [Music] okay with some sealant applied to the paint i'm going to take care of this front bumper now and i'm using some adams metal polish here so with an orange cutting pad on my polisher i'll get to work and this polish definitely makes quick work of this corrosion as you guys can see as it's going to look brand new again with just a few minutes of work [Music] [Music] uh last up is to get some car pro pearl diluted about two to one on these tires to leave them with a nice deep matte black look when it dries uh [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] do [Music] mm-hmm [Music] all right guys and 14 hours later and the truck is looking absolutely incredible it is ready for a new life hopefully a cleaner one now if you guys enjoyed this video make sure you smash the thumbs up button subscribe to the channel so you never miss out on a video like this enjoy the guitar outro and i'll see you guys in the next one [Music] me [Music] hey
