[Music] so we are [Music] foreign [Music] is [Music] is [Music] is [Music] la la la [Music] hello and welcome everyone we're glad to have you with us for this global broadcast here from revive israel in tikkun we welcome all those joining us from the nations please feel free to write to us in the chat where you're from and also if the lord speaks to you or if you have a prayer request on your heart we'd love to hear with you and engage with you as we come together to worship the lord today and we wanted to just share a little something about what happened this week around the world a happy piece of news so asha what was on your heart well i wanted to ask for prayer for people's reaction around the world to the killing of muksan now he is the was the top scientist in iran who was leading their whole program toward developing a nuclear weapon uh now sarah said it was good news that already showed a little bit where sarah's at but actually in most of the world media today that was depicted as a violent crime by israel and it raises some uh difficult moral questions and i just want to raise that for two minutes and then we'll pray before we start the rest of our prayer time today uh just to remind everyone that 1979 a fairly radical islamic regime took over the nation of iran iran was previously that fairly good friends with israel since that time iran has been the the regime in iran has been against israel against america against christians and has been for a radical jihadic program now what's happened because of that is they've had money from the government and the national economy they've used their money to promote uh terrorism across the middle east and in a pretty radical uh islamic islamicist agenda and also um they have been developing a nuclear weapon now from israel's point of view what do you do here's a neighboring country who was declared outright there in war with israel and they want to destroy israel and they're developing a nuclear weapon and here is the man who is developing it this is not just a scientist he's an islamicist and a very popular charismatic figure he was uh surrounded by a lot of security people uh the fact now israel's not saying that they did that and of course the people that probably did the killing were were local iranian uh uh oppositionists against against the iranian government but it was probably directed from israel here and uh so the thing is was it right or wrong to stop this man from israel's point of view the greatest danger that could possibly happen in the modern world is a radical islamic regime getting the hold of getting a hold of a nuclear weapon this has to be stopped it doesn't matter what the cost is and to describe that as an act of violence when you're talking about one person who was leading the creation of a nuclear bomb to be killed as compared to thousands of people that these that the islamic regime in uh in iran has killed doesn't seem to be proper balance morally or spiritually from our viewpoint uh but anyway we want to really pray because it's not just an issue of this one person iran israel it's really affecting the whole world atmosphere in the media how do we understand right and wrong uh in in the modern world so let's pray and we want to pray for the right thing to happen and the right reaction heavenly father in the name of yeshua we pray for righteousness we pray for the righteousness in iran in turkey in the in the arab nations in israel around the world father we pray to stop violence and terrorism stop war and father we pray for your kingdom to come and your will be done father we thank you that we have a plan for world peace it was described by the prophet isaiah that everyone that lord the messiah yeshua emanuel the prince of peace that he will bring peace and we trust you for that father in yeshua's name amen thank you for praying with us [Music] is [Music] [Music] [Music] is [Music] is [Applause] [Music] [Applause] leave because we will receive the new body we will be together with god all what we hope and believe for we will have it but very much we need it now yeah love will stand forever and i believe that it will join with us and look into the word together with him [Music] thank you sarah shalom to everybody uh my name is ariel blumenthal hey i think some of you most of you of course i can't see who exactly is out there in cyberspace know me i've taught here on the global broadcast a few times but it's been a while and so it's wonderful to be here with all of you today i want to share a message that's been kind of burning on my heart over the last month or so and it's called the early church the book of psalms and the spirit of prophecy the early church the book of psalms and the spirit of prophecy i know that sounds kind of like a long title but what can you do there's a lot of stuff i want to i want to share with you and it's really a message about how learning from the early church about how important was the book of psalms uh we'll see they really related to this book like it was another book of prophecy the book of the prophet david as it were and it was central to their proclamation of of the gospel to the jewish people in the first century in jerusalem but we'll also see that the spirit of psalms is not just a book that was written a long time ago it's a a handbook for our experience with the holy spirit as we sing and make music and invite the spirit of prophecy the same spirit that was on david to come and work through us and speak through us so the first verse i want to share with you today is uh from the book of ephesians chapter 5 verses 18 through 20 ephesians 5 18 through 20. and do not get drunk with wine or vodka or whiskey or anything i might add for that is dissipation but be filled with the spirit speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs singing and making melody with your heart to the lord always giving thanks for all things in the name of our lord jesus christ to god even the father etc etc now if i were more musically talented like some of our amazing team i would actually want to sing this entire message to you as we're encouraged here to be constantly singing and talking to one another in psalms hymns and spiritual songs what's the connection with the book of acts here in the early church is this uh theme of getting drunk with wine right paul says don't get drunk with wine but be filled with the holy spirit that means that being drunk and being filled with the holy spirit are somehow comparable synonymous don't do one they're in the same category now that should remind us of uh the book of acts right acts chapter two on the day of pentecost when the early followers of yeshua were there they were filled baptized with the holy spirit tongues of fire speaking in tongues and it was early in the morning nine o'clock in the morning there were jews and proselytes people from all over the world a huge crowd was gathered and it says in verse 13 that most many of the people were amazed and there were others who mocked and said they're drunk they're full of sweet wine and that's not right because that's you're supposed to have parties at night and not and not uh at nine o'clock in the morning that was true two thousand years ago in jerusalem and it's still true today all right but i want you to think about that that this comparison to being drunk into being filled with the holy spirit now um have you ever been around drunk people or maybe you've been drunk yourself uh you uh with a bunch of people right been to a party you drink some wine what characterizes that group of people when they're drunk on wine that looks like the also being filled with the holy spirit i can think of three things one i don't know about how it is in your country but at least around here and most places where i've been where there's a group of drunk people they talk really loud okay they're kind of screaming and just talking at the top of their lungs number one and number two it's connected to number one they don't give a hoot they don't care what anybody else thinks about them okay that's why they're talking so loud right they're just free they're very they're not concerned about their surroundings they're quite free speaking loudly and third usually they're pretty happy they feel good that's why people do it you know of course the problem is after a few hours you come down and you have a hangover and you got to do it again and again and then you're addicted like it is with all drugs okay but generally those people are quite happy so that means that that what people saw on pentecost was something like that they saw this group of men at nine o'clock in the morning who were just making a lot of noise seem to be quite happy and excited and really were kind of oblivious to their surroundings you know nine o'clock in the morning maybe if you're gonna make you know if you're going to prophesy or talk or sing maybe you should do it quietly because there are others who are still sleeping or whatever they didn't care about that so just to think about this that as we uh as we're filled with the holy spirit and think about it we should not be afraid uh we should we should be happy we should be excited and you know what we shouldn't really care what people are gonna think about us let them think what they're gonna think the important thing is that they notice like they did on that day of pentecost and that's just uh that's a kind of an introduction to the message um in the next over the next so many minutes really the the meat of this message about the book of psalms in the early church from acts chapter 2 where we just taught what we just talked about in chapters 2 3 and 4 the early apostles they preached like two and a half messages okay most of it was from peter the third one the half message was kind of the whole whole group praying and talking and they quoted nine times in those messages from the old testament and remember they didn't have a new testament and they didn't even have a book a bible like we have they just had what they had been reading and memorizing in the synagogue they had been with jesus for 40 days in his resurrection he was teaching them from the scriptures all about himself and to prove and if you're going to preach the gospel and especially to the jewish people it's still true today you better know your tanakh you better know your old testament your hebrew bible because if you can't prove it prove jesus is yeshua's messiahship from the scriptures then jewish people especially orthodox jews aren't going to listen to you so they quoted nine times and those quotes are very important because it's a real it's a foundation for the preaching of the gospel from that time from jerusalem judea samaria to the ends of the earth can you guess which book of the old testament they most quoted from you can probably guess from the title of my message it was the book of psalms it wasn't the five books of moses it wasn't deuteronomy it wasn't from the great prophet isaiah or jeremiah six times six of the nine times they prophesied they quoted the book of psalms the book of david in the city of david in jerusalem to prove and to preach his messiahship i want to look at i want us to go through these quickly each of these actually i'll look at only five of them five of the six quotes to see how they used some of these psalms in the book of psalms okay the first one is in acts chapter 2 verses 26-28 quoting from psalm 16 8-11 and this is the proof of the resurrection that's what they're using these verses for i was always beholding the lord in my presence for he is at my right hand that i may not be shaken therefore my heart was glad and my tongue exalted moreover my flesh also will abide in hope because thou will not abandon my soul to hades nor allow thy holy one to undergo decay thou has made known to me the ways of life thou will make me full of gladness with thy presence okay they were they were saying this is what david wrote right that he the lord will always be before him and that prophetically talking about his son that he would never see decay and they said look david we know he died his grave is over there and you can if you dig down you're going to find his bones he's still there he saw his decayed he's talking about his son he's talking about the son of david he's talking about yeshua the second one is acts chapter 2 verses 30 through 32 which is quoting psalm 132 11 2 samuel 7 verse 12 and psalm 89 verse 3. so it's actually two psalms that are kind of squeezed in there and this is more proof of jesus's yeshua's resurrection and not just that that there isn't that david's son is an eternal king right david had many sons who sat on his throne but they all died like david but the prophecy from samuel repeated in psalms says there's going to be one who's going to sit on the throne forever so he has to be eternal he has to be resurrected and so because he was a prophet david david was a prophet i'm reading the verses now acts 2 verse 30 and knew that god had sworn to him with an oath to seat one of his descendants upon his throne he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of the messiah that he was neither abandoned to hades nor did his flesh suffer decay this yeshua jesus god raised up again to which we are all witnesses and they said it in a loud voice remember that the third one acts chapter 2 34-35 quoting psalm 110 verse 1 verses 1 and 2 actually and this is the proof of his ascension not just that he resurrected from the dead and he is the eternal son of david prophesied from the book of samuel repeated in the book of psalms but that he has ascended to heaven and sits at the right hand of god that he's the lord he's your devas he sits there all authority in heaven and earth has been given to him this is acts 2 verse 34 for it was not david who ascended into heaven but he himself says david himself says the lord said to my lord sit at my right hand until i make thy enemies a footstool for thy feet the psalm says this is a song of david a prophecy of jehovah to my lord and so they said who could david be talking about who is david's lord who jehovah promised to seat on his throne and that he will make his enemies a footstool for that that has to be the messiah and he's not just a man he's up there now he's part of heaven okay all from the book of psalms by the way at the end of psalm 72 psalm 72 verse 20 it says the prayers of david the son of jesse are ended right as if david only wrote those first ones well here the disciples are quoting psalm 110 and they're saying david said okay so for them this whole book of psalms and we'll see it we'll see later it goes up to 118 132 they they call it was like this is the book of david the prophet who wrote exactly each one another story but they they each one is is for them they related to this book as a as the whole thing as a prophetic book and we'll talk more about what that means for us at the end the fourth one acts chapter 4 verse 11 from psalm 118. in psalm 118 if you want to read a prophetic psalm wow okay they just quoted from verse 22 it also contains blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord which jesus quoted at the end of matthew 23 talking about his second coming and about the need for the jewish people to invite him back acts 4 11 he is the stone which was rejected by you the builders but which became the very cornerstone and there is salvation in no one else for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which he must be saved hallelujah i'm not drunk on wine uh this they used the proof that the rejection and crucifixion of yeshua by the jewish leadership was prophesied by david in psalm 118. and in the fifth quote the last one from acts 4 25 26 they quote psalm 2 verses 1 and 2 to prove that the rejection in the crucifixion of yeshua was also predestined by the gentiles by the nations by the romans acts 4 25 by the holy spirit through the mouth of our father david thy servant did say why do the gentiles rage and the people's devise futile things the kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers were gathered together against the lord and against his anointed his messiah his christ for truly in this city they were gathered together against thy holy servant yeshua whom you anointed both herod and pontius pilate along with the gentiles and the peoples of israel so brothers and sisters i want to conclude things here and encourage us to restore the place the centrality the authority of the book of psalms like it was for the early church for us we're trying to restore the early church uh the acts chapter 2 experience of of community and of uh in jerusalem in downtown jerusalem it's very important that's why i've been this message has kind of been burning on my heart that's part of my life's calling in ministry in the city of jerusalem that we i need to know the book of psalms it's got to be like memorized i've got to meditate on and just as much as i would read the torah or the prophets and i want to say something to some of you many of you there's been a lot of teaching in the last so many years about the jewish roots hebrew roots of the of the faith good teaching a lot of it trying to reconnect the church to the torah and in many cases encouraging people to read the weekly torah portion as it is in judaism right which is a good thing it's a good thing to read the whole bible but i sometimes i get a little afraid i think if people are reading all of that torah material and a little bit from the prophets according to what the rabbis have chosen they may you know we only have so much time in the day they may be missing some of the other stuff jesus himself in luke 24 verse 44 said after his resurrection these are my words which i which i spoke to you while i was still with you that all things which are written about me in the law of moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled law torah the prophets psalms he puts them all on level playing field now in the three-part hebrew bible that we have today we talk about the torah the psalms and the writings which contains the book of psalms and proverbs and esther and and many other books okay all of it is important to read but i just want to say it's good to get back to the torah and study the torah but don't make the torah everything okay don't spend 80 or 80 of your time in the torah we need to have a full diet of the torah the prophets the psalms the other writings and of course the new testament all right the second thing the second point i want to conclude with goes back to the beginning and the quote from ephesians the book of psalms is not just an old book of prophecy we don't need to restore it just to learn from it and to study its prophecies that's we need to do that but we need to remember what was happening in the book of psalms and why it's so prophetic usually we think of the psalms as books of prayer and praise and worship right and so they are but as we found out or if you read the book of hebrews where there's 15 quotes from a bunch of other psalms you find out that this psalm while people were praying and making music and worshiping and crying out to god suddenly the spirit of prophecy would fall on them that's what happened to david and he would find himself praying to god and then the next moment he's speaking for god they're our first person god speaks in the first person many times in these prophecies okay and i want to encourage us that that experience is not just for them not just for david 4 000 years ago not just for the disciples 2 000 years ago but it's still for us today that's why paul encourages us to be filled with the spirit and make music when we do that those things go together singing all the time doesn't matter how musical you are you can have a worship team you can put on your mp3 or your iphone or whatever start singing making music worshipping thanking god and the whole you will be filled with the holy spirit and you just might start prophesying you just may get words of knowledge scriptures prayers all those kinds of things that's why we spend time during this global broadcast and other meetings a lot of time in worship and in prayer and we hope you will do the same god bless you amen wow what an encouraging teaching thank you so much ariel i think it's good for us all to just be reminded of the importance of intimacy in the lord's presence combined with a foundation in the word and then out of that the holy spirit can speak fresh things to us uh prophetic songs spontaneous things insights for the world that we live in today combining both our personal intimacy with the lord and the word of god the scripture just like ariel was saying the psalms that were birthed out of david's time with the lord and other people as well but then out of that there was an unction of the holy spirit that brought prophetic flow that became foundational part of the scriptures that yeshua quoted and the disciples and it's interesting when we think about the tabernacle of david that it talks about in amos chapter 9. it's a well-known verse but in amos 9 he says on that day i will raise up the tabernacle of david which has fallen down and repair its damages i will raise up its ruins and rebuild it as in the days of old and we've heard this verse translated into meaning the davidic worship in the temple and in the tabernacle where they would have singers played playing instruments day and night worshipping the lord but there's another part of the tabernacle of david which is the seat or the throne of david so there's a kingdom element that david represents and there's the prophetic worship element and we're here as a messianic remnant in the land trying to bring both of these elements back to us as a global body as an ecclesia that we want to restore both the fall intent of prayer and worship and the presence of god the prophetic but also the seat of david which is ultimately yeshua's kingdom that will come here on earth one day so thank you for joining us and stay with us as we close in worship and we look forward to having you here with us next week god bless you [Music] me [Music] i don't know [Music] is [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh my man [Applause] [Music] is [Music] say [Music] is [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music]
