he's better than good the bible says that god is great and worthy to be praised the psalmist says we are to bless the lord at all times and his praise should continually be in our mouths how many of you have a praise of thanksgiving continually on your lips because when you look back have mercy when you look back at where you have been and what you have been through especially in this past year where you've had to endure a few things and suffer a few things and survive a few things and the fact that you're still here have mercy you're still breathing you're still standing and you have not completely lost your mind all you can do is give god the praise it's because of his loving kindness why we have not been consumed his mercies which are new every morning enables us to declare with boldness great is your faithfulness so we ought to give god the praise he deserves because our god has been too good to us much more than we deserve so in spite of what we've been through in spite of sickness and in spite of financial difficulty in spite of lockdown and restrictions in in spite of the mental turmoil in spite of who or what we have lost or what we have gained we are still to give god thanks why because it tells god if you if you never bless me with anything else in my life you are still good we serve a god who inhabits the praises of his people and it tells him that we believe that he can do what he says he will do our praises give god the opportunity to exercise his wonder working power in our lives so we give thanks not because life is good but because god is good we give thanks and so as we go into our time of prayer i want you to just reflect on how good god has been to you you may not be where you want to be but you are not where you used to be and so we give god thanks and so with heads bowed and eyes closed let us pray father in the name of jesus as i come before you this afternoon father not to ask for anything but to thank you for all that you are and all that you have done father we thank you for jesus who's made it possible who's made a way for us to come boldly to your throne of grace to receive mercy and find help in our time of need father that we thank you that we can confess our sins and you've said that you'll forgive us of our sins and that you'll make us clean and pure in your sight again we bless you most holy god god we thank you for being our god and our savior we thank you father god that you are our strong tower you are our friend you are our comforter for being our keeper when we could not keep ourselves for being our protector when we could not protect ourselves i bless your name father god because you are almighty god the great el shaddai you are adonai you are our master i bless your holy name you are jehovah sharma you are the great god who will never leave us nor forsake us father god we thank you i bless your name because you are jehovah rapha you are our healer we praise your name father god you are our great physician and that by your son stripes we are healed we are healed so we thank you father god we thank you in advance for our physical our emotional and our spiritual healing in the name of jesus we claim it father i bless your name because you are jehovah shalom you are the god that is able to give us peace you said you will keep us in perfect peace as we keep our minds stayed on you i bless your name father god i thank you that the blood of jesus is able to cover everybody watching right now i thank you father god that you are able to cover every sickness every ailment every disease and every dis ease in the name of jesus we thank you that you've said in your word that no weapon formed against us shall prosper father god they may have been formed and they may have come to do us harm but we thank you in the name of jesus that they never destroyed us father i thank you for your people throughout the world who are right now earnestly seeking you humbly seeking you in prayer so that you will bring healing and restore our land father we thank you for our children our precious children our young people father god for whom the enemy has tried to sift as wheat in this dark season but we praise your most holy name that you father god your son jesus is interceding on their behalf father god and lord as the enemy has come in like a flood we thank you that you have raised up a standard against him in the mighty name of jesus and you are able to keep our young people from death and destruction we bless your holy name we thank you for the adults and the senior members amongst us father god even though some of us are under the sound of my voice or under spiritual attack father god some are suffering and dealing with lack father god whether it's through job loss or income loss whether it's through lacking in in emotional strength and physical strength lord you know what it is but you are the great provider you are jehovah jireh we thank you that you are the god who is more than enough for us you are more than enough and for that we give you praise because you are our sustainer you are the one who will keep us and you have said that our bread and our water is sure father god i thank you for being our shelter and our refuge i thank you for being our very present health in times of trouble i thank you that your word says that though our afflictions may be many that you will deliver us out of them all thank you father god i thank you for our leaders lord god i thank you that you've given them the wisdom that they need that you are able to give it liberally father god to lead your officials lord god and leaders elected leaders at such a time as this where the world is so dark and the trials are so great father god we thank you that you are able to lead your people in paths of righteousness and right doing father at a time where the world is in crisis father god we know that you are still in control and you are able to deliver and lead and guide your leaders to be a people who are able to stand though the heavens may fall though we are faced with challenges father god we thank you for the ability to cope and the ability to and the capacity to deal with the things that we've had to deal with and so father god we just give you all the praise we give you all the honor we give you all the glory that is due to your most holy name we thank you for the the closed doors that stopped us from walking into destruction we thank you for the open doors father god that has caused us to be blessed and to to be closer to our destiny father god we thank you for that you are a perfect god we thank you that you are pure that you are true that you are a waymaker you are a miracle worker that you are a promise keeper you are that is who you are and we give you praise father god we give you praise you alone deserve the glory you alone deserve the praise father god may this service be pleasing in your sight and the only thing i ask you in us for you in this moment is that father god that you will accept this humble sacrifice of praise may it come up to you as a sweet smell in incense and may it be pleasing in your sight we thank you and we praise you because you are good and you are worthy to be praised in the matchless mighty name of jesus i pray amen oh magnify the lord with me and let us exalt his name together i just want to thank god for sparing my life till now i 19 2019 went home for vacation me my husband my son and my daughter-in-law we had fun but when we came back i found that i had a lump in my right breast natasha was away at camp so i did not do anything until she come back and she came she took me to the doctor and the doctor examined me and i looked at his face i said to him i've got cancer i'm tired and he said i'm not sure i refer you and about five days after that they referred me to the hospital i went and the lady said she believes that i've got cancer and the same time they made an appointment for me to have my operation the third of october god has been with me since five months and a half after i was cured of the cancer they said to me we do not want to see you again until one year's time which was march this year the 31st of march i had a monogram two weeks before and then they said to me it's perfect you're fine and i just want to thank god because this is a miracle he has worked right on me and he did that once before because there was a wednesday i came to pray a meeting and i asked the pastor to pray for me because it's thursday i had to go to the hospital for them to tell me when i had to let them have an operation on my knee and he said sister edwards let's pray for a miracle and he prayed and when i went to the hospital the doctor said to me i can't find nothing for to have an operation on your knee and that was the miracle that god wrote on me and i just want to thank my friends the church family all those who pray for me who call me and pray with me who gave me gifts and everything and i thank my family especially gloria john brian natasha and joseph elena they all rallied around me and they take care of me but natasha is my mom because she take me anywhere i wanted to go but not her alone my sons and my daughter-in-law i just called anyone they just take me and i had chemo not radiotherapy and not once did anybody come in to look at me because all the time god was taking care of me so i just want to thank god for his wonderful kindness to me and for my family that he has given to me because i have the best family in the world and brethren i'm haley and i'm delighted to share a story with you on this special day today is not just sabbath but it's our day of praise and thanksgiving you may be wondering huh we're not in church things have been a little different or a lot different why should we praise i'm going to whiz through seven reasons why you and me should pray number one god will help you fight your battles what do you think this means god can help you with your schoolwork finding and making friends even when you're sick because when you praise it means you trust god to help you number two god will protect you we all now understand even more the importance of protection we need our ppe with prayer praise and evangelism aka sharing our love for jesus god will protect us number three god will refresh and renew your spirit if you're feeling a little bit sad worried or anxious praise can turn your sadness into gladness that frown upside down you just have to try sing your favorite song turn the music up and give god all the praise and thanks number four praise gives god a gift and an offering it's not just our offerings we bring to sabbath school that we can give to god but we can also praise him because he is worthy to be praised i know i love receiving and giving gifts so imagine how happy it makes jesus when we sing praises to his name and when we take the time to pray to him and to say thank you jesus for all that you have done for me number five praise makes your troubles smaller sometimes when we are sad all we think about is what made us upset it could be that someone took your favorite toy or your sibling hurt you but when we praise it can help us change our thoughts so when our praise gets bigger our troubles become smaller number six praise opens your eyes to blessings have you ever had chickenpox if you have you'll know that if you are around someone who hasn't had chickenpox they can catch it praise is a little bit similar when you praise it becomes contagious and you realize you can praise god for many things for your friends for your family for food for the opportunity to pray and then you can pass it on to others make your praise contagious and finally number seven god commands us to praise him because jesus loves us so much he knows that praise will help us psalms 150 verse 6 says let everything that has breath praise the [Music] the lord [Music] hallelujah [Music] [Music] praise the lord praise the lord praise the lord praise the lord praise him remember praise god for help protection to help you feel refreshed to give god an offering if you're feeling troubled if you want to say thank you and because you can now let's bow our heads and put our hands together little pray dear jesus please help us to give you praise whenever wherever and however we can thank you so much for our families our friends our food and our shelter and for giving us the opportunity to give you praise and to say thank you in jesus name we pray amen praise wonderful works to the children of men and let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving and to clear his work with rejoicing psalms 118 the first one i'll give thanks to the lord for he is good wanting to resist the devil and finding it difficult to do so he says the good i love and the good i want to do i find myself not doing that at all the evil i don't want to do that's the very thing i find myself doing all wretched man that i am who shall deliver me from this body of death and that the last person concludes thank god for jesus christ it is who grafts us on as a branch to divine kings demand ephesians 5 18 to 20 and do not be drunk with wine in which is dissipation but be filled with the spirit speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs singing and making melody in your heart to the lord giving thanks always for all things to god the father in the name of our lord jesus christ [Music] philippians 4 6 and 7 be careful for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to god verse 7 and the peace of god which surpasses all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through christ jesus colossians 2 verse 6 and 7 so say then just as you receive christ jesus as lord continue to live your life in him rooted and built up in him strengthened in the faith as you were thought and nurture morning virgin and sisters and friends today is the holy sabbath day and what better day could i choose to give god thanks and to tell you my story what has happened to me and has been um to me over the past 18 months on the 16th of june i went on my front door to cross over to put a letter in the letterbox a cargo had gone up the wrong sideway and decided to reverse i didn't see the car but the after effect was that the car hit me and took off left me for dead when i semi gained semi-conscious questions were being asked what my name was next of kin where was i going where do i live do i did i know where i am no the answers was no i could give my next skin by saying that there's a phone in my bag next thing that when they tried to move me my left my right hip was in so much pain i i squirmed my left rib cage could not be touched i was taken i saw a patch of blood how would me say i see a patch of blood on a big patch of red blood on the pavement beside me i asked whose blood was that and was told it's when my blood where from from the back of my head unfortunate for me i put my hand there and of course my hand was bloody i was taken to kiwi trauma ward mrs can prove too many bones were broken in my hip and my four ribs were broken in my left rib cage they could not operate on my hip they could not operate nature had to takes its course from there on it was pain and more pain at night i was given all the pain relief that i needed as long as i asked at nights i was in the ceiling dancing because i was on high in the daytime it was pain and tears my healing process continued until they realized i could move me in one step down to good hope trauma ward from the hospital there also i receive treatment from physio and the necessary treatment that they have to give me until from there i went to rehab in rehab i was beginning to feel the need for my own family around me and of course there was no visiting as you all know when they do come it was short and very far between and i was getting down really really down and one day stop my son-in-law called me and he gave me a good picking up talking to from there on i thought don't give up as he said keep on keep on keeping up i continue to pray and to know and to feel the prayers of your brethren and what keeps me going was remember in psalms 1 21 i will watch over you you're going out and you're coming in and god was with me that day otherwise i would not be here to tell you my story god bless you all colossians 3 15-17 let the peace of christ rule in your hearts since as members of one body you are called to peace and be thankful let the message of christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms hymns and songs from the spirit singing to god with gratitude in your hearts and whatever you do whether in word or deed do it all in the name of the lord jesus giving thanks to god the father through him colossians 4 verse 2 continue earnestly in prayer being vigilant in it with thanksgiving first thessalonians 5 verses 16 to 18 saints rejoice always pray with our ceasing in everything give thanks for this is the will of god in christ jesus hebrews chapter 13 verses 15 and 16. therefore by him let us continually offer the sacrifices of praise to god that is the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name but do not forget to do good and to share for with such sacrifices god is well pleased our final scripture is taken from hebrews 12 28 to 29. therefore since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken let us be thankful and so worship god acceptably with reverence and all for our god is a consuming fire [Music] oh is [Music] victory [Music] [Music] what a day are we [Music] victory [Music] will be [Music] i [Music] is [Music] will be when we [Music] victory when we we'll see [Music] so has your heart been blessed have you indeed given thanks and praises to god today and uh i just know that uh indeed god has been good to us now you may say well it's been difficult to give thanks and praise especially in this present climate in the world's condition what's going on but you know something i believe that paul says it right when he says in romans that all things work together for good to them that love god i love god like many of you do and i tell you even in the good times and the bad times i can still give thanks and praise to him so let's continue to give thanks and praise and i want to thank everybody who has taken part in today's time praise and thanksgiving and so we just pray a prayer for you and give thanks for you and for our god for whom we can praise and give thanks daily and so with heads bowed and eyes closed father in heaven we want to thank you for this opportunity today to praise you and to give thanks to you for what you have done for all that you have uh provided for us and lord whatever our situation may be may it be that we would recognize that in some way you have indeed
