Day in The Life Of Rivian Electric Van Delivery Driver

good morning guys Chris here and welcome back to the Amazon blogs today you're coming to work with me and we're gonna be in the electric bands the rivian now I already did a day in the life of an Amazon driver but since you guys love to like advance so much we're gonna do one again I'm gonna cover different aspects of the job so you guys get a full picture of what's like via Amazon driver so let's go [Music] thank you [Music] back in the EB boys and girls so I'm going to show you what's like in the morning take out the charger oh hold on I'm getting a donut right now put that back in there what's this wow it's beautiful first thing in the morning I get two phones one we gotta log into Mentor essentially track your driving and see right here score my score is empty because I usually draw the step in and they don't require mentor and we log into our Flex app all right so now we're waiting for Loadout we're on the launch pad right now the dsps when they're first and now we're waiting for our turn so once they're done picking up their packages inside we'll stroll right in so in the morning I scan this QR code and it's going to ask me to start my vehicle inspection the vegan gold inspection is a little different on the EVS as you can see there's like an orange wire voltage how you do not touch just a slightly different version than the cargo van foreign stops 200 dirty locations 301 packages this is what we're looking like these are all our packages we have 155 today which is kind of a lot more than usual I used to say around 140. these are all my overflows and once we put into drive it'll start our navigation automatically [Music] thank you [Music] so I was reading some of your comments lately and you guys were wondering where is the electric vehicle Where is the rivian so I heard you guys loud and clear here it is and today I'm going to take you with me through my whole day in the electric vehicle now I don't always get to drive the electric fan which I'll explain in a future video but for now let's enjoy this time with all this cool Tech all right so we're at our first stop in our overflow or our big patches are looking a little disorganized now that we have more time I'm gonna organize it so in three two one look at this much cleaner much nicer first stop to last stop all the way in the back so we're just gonna go down the line all the way here and after we finish these rows of shelves we go all the way down here [Music] all right now that we're our first stop let's go do it [Music] foreign [Music] so that was our first few stops and we got 150 more so let's get some more work done [Music] oh [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] thank you oh damn uh let's do cash one of my favorite things about the EVS is that you have this huge screen where you can see all your stops let's say I want to skip a stop I can just click on it and it'll take me to that stop all I gotta do is put it in Drive why would you want to skip stops sometimes the rallying system's not really good it's actually terrible honestly you can see all my stops are they're just in a bunch of random places all right and from my experience it's trash [Music] oh [Music] what's up man [Music] [Music] oh so good I needed that [Music] I remember when I was younger this ice cream used to cost like a dollar fifty now it costs four dollars that's inflation for you uh this brings back memories [Music] one thing you should know when you start working for Amazon is that they use Motorola phones yep an Android phone for the scanners it's um questionable that's because Amazon uses an app called the Amazon Flex app you can also download it on your phone but the problem with that is that these phones need to be charged so way Amazon want to fix this by giving you battery pack chargers at FedEx I had a real scanner that lasted the whole day with the screen on but here doing some Hood and another thing you should know about Amazon and something I really dislike is that they're always watching you and they're always tracking you here we have ai cameras and those when you're speeding when you're distracted and they also double down with the mentor app which also watches your driving and they're actually using the Motorola phones to watch us as well it tracks my driving time from one stop to the next it knows how long it takes me to get from my first stop it knows how long it takes me to deliver to a house and I'll be honest it probably knows when I have to take a it knows everything about me [Music] nice and we are done hey it's Chris I'm finished nada all right see you then you know that feeling guys when's the last work day of the week we are done today is my Friday doors all right we're gonna put our bags away and go park all right guys we are done just parked and let's go charge it so all you gotta do is take this push this and plug it in and then when it turns green or blinking green or something that's when it's good it is the parking lot for all the dsps to park and there's more this place is huge and then you can see right here uh we drove 21 percent and we have 114 miles left and charging is going to end at 1206 a.m which is about three hours and then we got our post inspection make sure everything is good I know I make the job look a lot more fun than it is but you gotta make the best of it you know if you're gonna spend 40 hours at a job you got to at least like it right Winnie oh you smell if I didn't like it oh I've gone somewhere else but until that day comes we're still here anyways
