[Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] whoa looking like i aged like 15 years i guess that's what the cold does my face hurts my fingers hurt so i am going to keep the short and get back to the the apartment to warm up start the work day but yeah this is something that i just like to do from time to time especially if i'm in a new city new area new country just kind of go out for a like a very light leisurely jog no no schedule so i'm not trying to hit a certain pace i'm literally just going out and jogging at an easy pace stopping wherever i want to stop like right now i mean i tracked it but like just because i'm curious but i'm out like 1.9 miles so i've got 1.9 miles back and i'm literally running at like a 13-minute pace just stopping walking wherever doing doing whatever you got to do that's kind of the whole point of it um and then on a day like today i'm not gonna lie the weather does suck i hate cold weather i just haven't been in cold weather in a while or this cold i guess um so yeah i'm gonna get back to the apartment start the work day and then hopefully we'll whip something up very tasty for lunch here in a couple of hours [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] so normally on work days i kind of like to have like a main daily highlight it's kind of this concept from make time where it's like that maybe film a youtube video or that could be research and script a youtube video or um edit a full youtube video something like the along those lines that being said today is kind of a little bit different because i kind of do need to focus on four or five small things today one we have a youtube video that's releasing later um it's it'll be east coast in the morning like 10 a.m but that's like four o'clock um pairs so just got to go through the upload checklist make sure that's all good to go i also need to start moving forward a couple of video ideas that i've had if i want to go forward to them and that's actually one of the issues i've been having in paris so far almost having too many video ideas and not knowing what level to take them like obviously just being in a different country and kind of in a new space it creates a lot more friction my last apartment you know when i was in the states i had a very kind of defined workflow of how i worked on things and was just able to get videos done and out the door much faster and then since i've been in paris it's really been a struggle just kind of adapting to the new environment and then literally just overwhelmed with ideas like the first day i was here i got like 15 videos ideas and i was like i can't do everything for example the galette video that i'm planning out now i was originally thinking well should i go to brittany france like you know take a train over like what what do i want to show in the video do i want to go out and get galettes um do i just want to show the recipe do i want to make a healthy version do i want to make kind of my own twist on it so there's always like a million ideas within the core idea which is the galette but then there's like five or six offshoots of where i can take that video and that's kind of what i've been struggling with creatively um being out here it's just it's almost overwhelming just the amount of ideas like it's hard to turn the brain off and just be like no i'm gonna focus here and just go through that video which i feel like i was very good at or kind of got into the swing of things when i was in you know back in the us and kind of had my setup understood how things work so it's been a little bit of a struggle and that's why there's not as many videos coming out currently we're basically i'm kind of just shooting for one a week and then sprinkle in if i can get things done you know add two a week and kind of work and work from there but anyway i've got to get to work for at least a couple of hours just kind of got to figure out things i'll probably go out to the grocery store once today um to pick up some food because we just got into this place whole fiasco with airbnb maybe i'll i'll tell it at lunch but yeah i gotta get to work and uh yeah i'll check back with you guys in a couple of hours [Music] do say hi to the vlog you gonna get that uh checklist upload checklist done okay just did a couple hours of work here let me show you a little bit behind the scenes of what i'm working on so first up this is kind of my notion tracker that i'm using and i was actually working on this dooner video so this is a video that i filmed with andong and i actually went to berlin um and now we filmed a bunch of content and now i'm gonna actually recreate the recipe like kind of a home kitchen version so what i was doing this morning was figuring out the recipe so i kind of looked through a bunch of different recipes and it seemed like there's some different variations on how it's made lean versus enriched to me it looks like a higher hydration dough so i was kind of looking through a couple different recipes and then ended up kind of working on a bread recipe that's kind of in between focaccia and a sandwich bread recipe so these are actually from my website if it loads if not it's fine and then kind of just working there and then i still have to do the dune or me the toppings and all that but that's just an example of one of the things that i'm working on now i also kind of needed to figure out uh our upload for today so gabe is actually going to go through and do the upload checklist but one thing that i have to do for the website is go here so we have all these blog posts right this is where i post all the recipes if you didn't know i do actually have a website um where you can like look at the recipe so this is one of the things that i had to do was just get this and i actually needed to update the recipe here so to do that i actually just go to this this is called recipes generators.com and basically you just flip through gabe added all this stuff um and then i just looked over it made some you know subtle tweaks and then it prints out this recipe card that's now printable all i have to do is click copy the code drop it into here and that'll be up on the website and then that always goes in the description of the video later on then the last thing i was working on was just a grocery list so i need to go out and get some food not only just to cook for today i think i want to make some pk chicken karahi just because i haven't had that in a while not going to make it exactly like that version i'll probably do a slightly healthier version and i'm not sure if i want to spend all the money on all the spices i might only be able to get a couple so basically i just typed out a master grocery list that i'm gonna use um to walk over to the store so yeah we're gonna go make some lunch it's 12 o'clock right now so i don't know what time we're good it's probably gonna be a late lunch but we'll figure out i'm also gonna test that bread recipe as well later this afternoon hopefully so that's it for now i'm gonna take a little break and just head to the grocery store then we'll come back and whip something up for lunch all right we got gabe in the kitchen nice uh nice soft scramble on those yeah good small curd yeah those look nice looks like you had a little bit of an issue with the toaster are these these chicken hot dogs i was making the eggs and i was like it smells kind of smoky he's gonna eat that i'm gonna head out to the store get some ingredients for my lunch normally we'll just cook together but he was hungry so he just wanted to cook something right now so i'm gonna get ready and i'll see you guys [Music] so [Music] all right so i'm gonna make some lunch basically i think i'm just gonna do kind of a pk chicken karahi i couldn't find fresh ginger which is killing me um because that's one of the favorite like parts of that dish but oh well we're gonna do with what i could find and i think i'm just gonna serve with some rice something pretty plain um yeah and then uh start doing a couple hours of work this afternoon and i also did get a chicken like a whole chicken so i think i'm gonna roast that i think i'm gonna salt that now pop it in the fridge and then i'll roast that later tonight for dinner but yeah let's make let's make lunch first [Music] so [Music] so [Music] do cooking [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] look at that [Music] so ended up being not exactly like the uh pk chicken garage but definitely inspired by it um definitely missing the ginger also would have nice been nice to have some of the garam masala forgot onions too um and then chicken thighs would have been way better but actually like boneless skinless chicken thighs i've not seen them in any european grocery store um so went with the breasts a little bit healthier so i'm not complaining i kind of went over the board yesterday so it is what it is but anyway i kind of forgot how tiring it is like filming your day and also doing your day like i'm kind of like mentally uh kind of getting a little bit exhausted so i'm probably just going to eat this chill out for probably an hour or two just browse around do whatever and then we do have a video releasing at 4 p.m today so 10 eastern um so i'm just gonna go double check like the checklist make sure we're all good for that and it is april fool's today but the video i'm releasing is not an april fool's video but it was just scheduled that way so i don't know what people are gonna think about it but i guess we'll see [Music] so quick update i haven't really done much or so in the past hour kind of just been hanging out like i said um that's the other camera right here but let me show you something that i don't know might be interesting might not be so like i was mentioning earlier here we have the recipe just double checking making sure everything looks good and then save and publish now that is live so if i go here and this is the normal website with all the recipes so if i update there we go we've got our seared chicken with garlic rosemary pan sauce recipe and then the red wine pan sauce recipe which will both be in the video one thing that i have been thinking about recently is kind of do i want to overhaul and redesign my website and kind of transform it from ethanchebowsky.com into like a more traditional food website that's robust better search function better written out recipes that you know can be a little bit tested and ahead of time someone can read them for typos things like that obviously people want a recipe a lot of times and a website is pretty much the best way to do that and that's where that little you know printable recipe card comes in handy from the business side of things like there are several websites out there who that's all they do they're just a food website and they're super profitable they make a ton of revenue per month just from having a very very good website um obviously i've been focusing on the video side of thing but i think website is a massive massive opportunity as well and it's right in line with what i want to do i want to teach people how to cook and i want more people to cook like that's just the basic goal overall and i think the website could be a very great way to do that this is kind of just a ramble about a business decision that i've kind of been thinking about generally that those thoughts just kind of pop into my head throughout the day as i'm going through and going through my normal tasks and just doing the things um but yeah i think as creators and as you grow you have more and more opportunity to do things especially outside projects businesses and just whatever but it's really a question of where do you want to focus what do you have time for and kind of what's going to you know what's going to energize you you know a lot of things can like look cool from far away and then you sign up for it and you're like well i kind of wish i didn't sign up for this so that's kind of the constant battle that uh many creators have to play including myself i don't know if this was ranty but uh yeah we'll keep going and then we are gonna make that roast chicken for dinner i'm pretty excited it's kind of been a nice chill day but also a little bit frazzled day so it'll be nice to relax with a nice roast chicken in a couple hours [Music] behind the scenes if this shot made it in now you know exactly where it came from but i'm actually going to grab a small little snack too so over here i've just got some light and freeze here they don't really have many like good low-fat yogurt options over here they're all about their full fat which is fine but i popped a tiny bit of chocolate in there and then some of this muesli just for a little crunch a little a little snack to uh to enjoy another good thing about having gabe work for me is that part of his uh job description does include washing dishes uh and cleaning up after shoot so since i did shoot lunch technically in in some sense and he got to enjoy it he is cleaning up the dishes which is pretty nice what do you feel about cleaning up dishes uh i'm pretty used to it by now um it's just kind of it's part of the job i mean he does a lot of the harder stuff like the cooking and the the bulk of the editing so i just get to do the the annoying things and i'm okay with it yeah he's kind of like the glue guy basically anything that i can kind of hand off to him he will he will accept um and then i kind of take over just the finer points he might do like the rough cut and then i'll kind of go through it and actually finish the rest of it um and then just yeah things like popping recipes into the templates uh starting the checklist for uploads and things like that but anyway uh yeah i'm gonna go back up just do a couple more hours of work it's currently i think like four o'clock now so yeah we're just uh strolling along with this day [Music] [Music] so we got the coffee a little late in the day typically i would not have one this late but i hadn't had one and it's cold outside so i don't know just nice to have like a warm beverage another thing the video did release um it's doing not as well um i think it's coming in i don't remember right now but yeah in the first hour like i'll generally like look at the video see how it's doing um if it's doing like way way bad like maybe i'll change the thumbnail um or the title but i try not to get too particular or too worried about analytics because when it for me and probably many other creators can relate like if you could focus too much on analytics it kind of takes away from the happiness that you had making the video and for me this pan sauce video i had a ton of fun making it um coming up with the recipes and kind of figuring out the flow of how it would go together and i genuinely just had a lot of fun making it i think it's a really really good video um you know one of the better ones i've done for sure so even though it's yeah it's not doing as well as i would like like obviously i would like this to reach as many people as possible um sometimes that's just gonna be the case and i think as a creator you kind of learn that it's better for your mental health if you kind of step away from the analytics a little bit and kind of get back to just making the videos that you feel proud of i'm gonna do a little more scripting on so i was talking about the dooner video earlier so i did a little scripting on that i was gonna make the dough today and just realize that was way too much i might try the dough tomorrow but then i'm also working on this galette video so i think i'm gonna start scripting that out for the next probably hour or two [Music] like they put them across the street like that all right so the plan for dinner is to roast this chicken i'm actually just gonna throw some oil on it literally just pop it in like plain salt oil and just crisp it up until it's done sometimes plain roast chicken is that's exactly what you need in the purest form then also gabe wanted some mac and cheese so we're actually gonna do mac and cheese with peas and ham so we probably won't have too much of the chicken and i think i'm gonna do like a little basic salad but yeah let me roast the chicken then get that started and then i'll probably do the mac and cheese once that's almost about done [Music] so [Music] [Music] i got that all on audio so while that starts to roast it'll probably take at least an hour so i'm gonna head back up um and then i'm gonna throw probably netflix or i'll find something to watch maybe a movie and i'm gonna actually edit on my phone adjust that oh very blue in here now um but yeah i'm gonna just edit some short form stuff that i filmed um on my phone might as well like i'll probably be on my phone while i watch something anyway so why not you know edit some short form stuff in the meantime [Music] so [Music] oh them out but hopefully this showed you kind of you know what cooking can look like on like a work day coming from home or something like that um definitely a little hard to do your work day and film but it is very hard and kind of mentally exhausting to like always think you're like wait i want to go do that and then you have to also be like oh i need to film it for the vlog so it's like kind of
