DAY IN THE LIFE of a Cattle Rancher

today we are bringing the pairs they've been out grazing on the south part of the feedlot just green out there we couldn't turn them out to grass earlier but this is essentially free grazing before we spray it off we're going to bring the pair's down separate the one month old calves from the cows we're gonna work the calves and then put the calves in the stock trailer the cows in the pot and then haul them to what we call the East pasture now we'll get them on where they're going to spend the summer and where they're going to grow the majority of the weight before we ledin them [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] I'm gonna kind of bait them a little bit with the feed wagon I gotta pull up this fence really quick well there's the rest of them I'll just drive right down this alley hoping they will follow the wagon I'm gonna run around the outside nope that doesn't look like it's going super great there's one cow that's causing an issue god it's moving found that nice green wheat Qi one it's hard to rile the calves at the same time hey hey hey hey go on around there all right we made it past the tractor I read one with the white face there that's the youngest one in the bunch the rest stuff were all born boring March and a few at the tail into February but now when there was born in April Cavs looking around for which ones there see that one's a pair that one's a match so they're not stressed they're cold we're gonna sort them so we can run the calves to the chute separately there's the medicine we need actually I cleaned I clean the interior of my truck yesterday and I'm not the cleanest person you can ask you know my wife anyone with me but it just kind of nice to have a clean truck you look in there and there's not a bunch of junk calves look like they're going down straight down and the cows are going to the right there you see the that goes from the liquid that's a sterile solution in the top but flip it upside down switch pull that vaccine right into the bottle it up where it's real skinny and matches done width of a cap versus versus a bigger fear to your your calf alright this is number 43 gave it an implant max this vaccine goes through the nose and in the flight Angoon and that's the second vaccine that's a disinfectant they are cutting it it's a bowl right now [Music] all right all the Cavs got a shiny new earring blue tag is the fly tag like I said these range from a little under a month to a little over the Mamas are gonna go out in the semi pot counter pot and the Cavs are gonna go out in the stock trailer Oh looking away from me trying to get a shower they're looking towards me look at all you cuties dad almost backed up oh yeah I put that in there before we move those bulls and those cows to the cradles you think of all that all right I am off to the pasture to set up this unloading chute I'm also I'm also going to make sure the wire is hot with this battery and solar panel and stuff I'm gonna turn it over to Nathan he's gonna be the one loading calves and cow yeah I wish me luck hello buddy don't worry we'll get you back together Hale about time to go again come on cubes come on come on Gibbs come on once they get past the cows there you go it's big step one go on you can do it yeah it is once you just want to do half and half not even use the front go on find your kids [Music] Kendall in there - hey what how's the s8u in there - which goes to also goes to positive negative it's taking all the way across there and I put on the wire going north which is where the cattle are they're gonna be dropped off over there luckily we have this railroad rock where we can access this pasture and it's drying up the spring that we can just drive right up into the pasture a little bit okay so we're gonna let the calves out right alongside the cows so they can find each other and be calm alright ladies we need you to find your babies and eat some all we're asking here they go to the summer home go on kids it's a family read and it hey come on lady [Music] come on out gifts that's all folks [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]
