all right so let's see how we can do some cool time remapping i guess so first of all you need a song i chose a kind of obscure song i think just goes like this [Music] yeah i don't know i thought it was cool but i don't think many people know this so yeah the part this is the part that's interesting i guess to do the time remapping [Music] do it to the beat yeah so every time it goes down we can remote this to something cool so yeah every time it goes down you can put a marker that's pretty pretty easy anyone can do this [Music] and there's one hidden here okay that should be good for what i want to show you so now you need a clip so i have a clip here i'll just make it start where i have the first marker because that's easier but now you need to note wherever you want you need to know the number of frames there is between the beginning of the clip and each marker because that's going to be needed later so to make it easy on me i'll just start the clip at frame 0 so i don't have to count too much so first marker is on frame 20 second markers on frame uh 30b it's 30 frames per second timeline so 30 plus 1040 marker 4 is on 60 frames and marker 5 or marker 4 because it starts at oh this is the fifth one yeah marker 4 is 60 plus 17 so 77 all right now it's time to go in to fusion so once in fusion the only node you need is this node time stretcher so when you create this node just make sure uh your playhead is at zero because it's going to create a keyframe automatically on the source time of the time structure not so you want yeah you want your time at zero or whatever when you want the clip to start i guess but i wanted it i want it at zero so once you have that you need to go at the last frame you loaded earlier so mine was 77 and at that frame you choose uh at what frame you want the clip to end so i want it to end at 14.50 i guess that should be cool so now you can see that the clip moves when i move the playhead if it loads oh yeah no sorry it's between 0 and 77 that it's going to move so yeah just like that at 77 inch it's just gonna freeze okay so what you can do to visualize this is select the time stretcher node and open your spline editor which is this down here select time stretcher node and then zoom to fit so how this works is on the y-axis you have the source time and on the x-axis you have the uh normal time i guess the media out time so this goes between 0 and 77 and this goes between 0 and what we chose earlier 40 1450 yeah so what you want to do now is go to every other frame number you noted so i had 20 i had a source time keyframe and do that for all of them like that and like that once you have those you can just select all your keyframes and what you want to do is make it interesting so to make it smooth and interesting i like to smooth all the curves so it creates those handles and you can really smooth it smooth your timer mapping so it's not jarring or anything so now you can do whatever you want with these but i'll show you what i wanted and what i like so what i like to do is just put these handles like perpendicular or vertical at a vertical angle just like this do every one of them and how does that work well when it's vertical the clip the medial clip will go very fast and when it's horizontal it's gonna go slow so you can kind of see it fast slow fast slow so what i like to do is bring those handles at almost the same height as the previous or next keyframe that way it's more dramatic like that this one is already pretty good like that like this like this and like this so now that this is set up we can go back in the edit tab and what i'll do is i'll just generate some optimized media to make the playback smooth and i guess i'll enable the render cache to make it even smoother make sure displays a smooth 30 frames per second so now that it's rendered we can start this [Music] and you can see how cool that looks yeah that's pretty good so now what you if you had like more clips you would be like oh man i need to put my next clip here so i'll just cut this long clip here and delete this and then it's gonna play right [Music] and yeah that works cool so one yeah i guess if you're not happy with what you have you can go back in the fusion tab and just like play around with these you can make them less dramatic and you have to wait for it to render again doesn't take too long usually oh yeah uh yeah that's a problem that can happen when you cut the clip so since there's no clip left here this part doesn't know what to display so what you have to do instead of cutting the clip like i did you can just bring back bring back this clip and what you have to do is create a compound clip so i just renamed in the same with cc at the end so i know it's a compound clip and now i can remove this now the problem is we don't have the render a little like blue loading bar here but yeah it still plays back it still plays back fine so there you have it i guess [Music] that's pretty much it thank you for watching see ya
