David Spade, Jay Leno, And A 1987 Buick Grand National (FULL SEGMENT) | Jay Leno's Garage

we're heading down to my favorite sunday night spot the comedy magic club in hermosa beach now this club is kind of a sleeper on the outside just looks like an ordinary little building but inside it's hosted some of the biggest names in comedy on the walls you see all the bricks have been signed by every comic that's worked here there's hundreds and hundreds of comedians some famous some you've never heard of and today i'm gonna go surprise a bunny of mine who's going to be performing here later tonight hey hey david what's up how are you hey jay just plain to your usual crowd i see huh nice to see you david spade has been a comedian and actor for over 30 years i'm sure you recognize from his work on saturday night live just shoot me tommy boy and the joe dirt movies in fact that movie fueled his love of cars you bought this uh dodge daytona with the 426 hemi with the fourth view that's a fast car that's a great one we wrote that old joe dirt movie and we had an old uh super bird i think in that it was all broken down right right and so i got into those i thought they looked really cool i started to go to these barrett jackson auctions and stuff just to mostly get recognized and take pictures right and also look at cars and then i got on the phone in auction which i've never done 900. and uh you know it's always good when you had two drinks first yeah you have a couple because you go a little bit over what you're supposed to spend yeah yeah yeah so i went a little deep on it yeah congratulations it's super cool i love it all i know is i'm gonna crash it tmz will be right there and i'll look like the biggest in america a million dollar car look at this idiot right right i saw the buick out front very nice how long you had that it's probably been about eight years oh okay one day i ran into sean penn shawn had one of these and i thought it was cool he had nitrous in it now see i don't think the shaw i think of as like an actory guy not a car guy no super car guy wow yeah and so i went and bought one and i went and bought it off a guy who was so particular about cars yeah he was uh literally with the q-tip inside the ac and he goes you're gonna totally take care of it right and i go i i don't know dude but that kind of car is just cool to cruise around in i mean i can peel out and uh do all the things of course a guy needs to do right you have to okay [Music] you got here that'll buff out buff out yeah you think a little rubbing compound bring that right back what happened to your antenna broken off or you just put it down um no recollection yeah yeah all right let's give it a shot listen we don't need that am fm radio we can talk it's more fun most people would think this car was just an old beater but there's a small part of the population that knows in one glance what this car really is i don't drive this at night because i get scared the cops are gonna pull me off why why because it looks like a troublemaker car [Music] look at that i think it goes pretty good turbo kicks in very nicely yeah it's pretty smooth the beat works are always sleepers you know my buddy had a regal which is just one under this was it a regal well the regal he probably got from his grandma right it's just like uh yeah i mean it's just like a regular car but it looks sore like this that's all right look at that i see it's a regal with a grand national package on it you know they used to say buicks were an iron fist and a velvet glove it was sort of it had some of the luxury items that bjorn owners are accustomed to but with the grand national package with a little more high performance it's a clunky motto but i understand yeah that's what it is that's what it was this is a 3.8 liter yes uh v6 turbo v6 i think it made what 245 horsepower is that whatever maybe it feels like more but maybe yeah this is a rare one because there aren't many to have the chipped rear fender broken antenna so you're in the am fm yeah you pay extra for that yeah yeah yeah was the last time you took a girl out in this car it's very rare yeah no girl looks at this and thinks this is great some of them think this is cool though most just go is there one that has like ac i don't like the little wastegate huh sounds like some sort of great mastodon that's funny you know this is actually a perfect car for david unpretentious but kind of cool david thanks a lot thanks for having me here's your keys nice to see you good luck all right here i go all right have fun [Music] hey cnbc fans thanks for checking out our youtube channel here you'll find videos from all your favorite cnbc shows be sure to subscribe by clicking right here click on the videos around me and watch the ladies from cnbc thanks for watching
