you open that door i'm not guaranteeing what's in there just so you know it's head is off oh no oh there you go you got his helmet in here yeah so we got pretty cool piece of history behind us uh this is tim pakman from the garage shop and he's gonna let us check it out tell you about it and i think we might be able to try to fire it up good luck on that if it actually does i don't know so what is this thing so what we have here as you see it is daryl waltrips race truck that he used he hauled the car there it was uh parts in there and like unlike the modern day hauler daryl originally bought this uh his wife's dad owned a trucking company daryl bought it but then all of a sudden he didn't need it because he got the deal with dye guard so he's like i'm going to sell this so he sold it to sold the bud more this was actually the original hauler for dale earnhardt when he drove for bud moore so after a while of having it bud got out of it and daryl said well i'm going to buy it back now because daryl formed his own deal and because here at the garage shop in denver north carolina we house a large portion of daryl waltrips cars and race cars and that so it's just natural we got our hands on it and he said well one place to put it so here it sits in denver north carolina so what what year is this thing it's a is it a gmc is it titan is that what they call it i think it was a gmc titan as you can see it's got the flat front uh i guess they put the wing on up there um and it's been painted repainted if you look back on the history of it you'll see that it was uh bud moore's with the 15 and the numbers he had through the years and that's just kind of what so when daryl got it he branded it back to darwah incorporated daryl waltrip incorporated and when he had the western auto which was one of the sponsors for years and years and that was the uh chrome car as you can see it's uh taking a little bit of uh i don't say abuse but a little uh worse for wear it's original through the years but you can see the different uh delco javelin in the different boxes that's crazy this thing this thing would haul their own bobby allison daler and hart and darrell waltrip among who else i guess probably ricky rudd too because he was sure that one but i'm not going to tell you what i don't know but all i know is that this truck is um 1993 last year and north carolina um you know astro 95 the gmc astro 95 that might be the year maybe the chevy might have been the titan one i think i saw that somewhere is it uh you wanna i'm i don't i'm if you open that door i'm not guaranteeing what's in there just so you know okay you you're at your own wrist there my friend all right let's see what's in here well i guess we gotta unlock they unlock it oh okay i have to find the i didn't know that i thought it was open all right you want to stop i'll go get a key yeah well that was i was all pumped for that and it just just took the wind right out of me this thing is crazy did you see something oh nice and old i'm going to try this door look at this woman's touch opens it right up i'm going to step by her and like i said i do not know what's in there yeah critters homeless people well regardless of what is actually in there we know there's history in here how do you even get grab a handle oh okay well uh there's a mattress back here and it looks like someone died on it possibly man yeah no kidding all the freaking miles in here the places it's been wow look at all this this is legit original everything like they just parked it one day and never used it again wow uh seriously this looks like i don't know if the roof is leaking or if someone actually died on that thing i don't know there's a invoice in here from 2020 darrell welch or motorsports it says broke rear breaks free so it can roll so i don't know if this thing was 20 20 so it could roll yeah broke breaks free so it can roll it cost uh daryl 85 dollars probably complained about that i don't even know how to open the door there's some old matches down here how's the smell uh it doesn't smell weird okay that's odd official game no old gm smell special game ticket oh it's on a cigarette package perfect nice 1971 this is an insurance card from 98. the door wall yeah wow i don't even know where the door lock would be to do it i don't know where the handle is how do you open the door on this thing probably on the inside i want to open the engine bay yeah the engine is under the cab so that that's what that big hump is i don't know how you get to the engine i think the whole cab tilts up somehow oh wow yeah that's cool you can see a little bit inside it you can see the engine from under here look at this you can see like i'm coming through detroit diesel it's probably a 8v71 i would guess and he's a free garden a free garden foliage and you guys in the comments know what engine would be in a 71 gmc let me know in the comments leaves leaves i wonder what we used to go in there empty beer can wasn't this thing in the junkyard for a while i do not know where it came from but it looks like somebody uh somebody kind of in the back look at the back end here someone had a bad uh bad day oh wow it wouldn't roll roll-up door todd call huh ooh yeah somebody taped something over the hole oh probably the sponsor went away so he just taped over it yeah superflow left the picture so they're just like throwing tape on it well that's still got a functional padlock on it sure because you know yeah you don't want anyone to steal your old stuff you've got your outlets in here power things up the generator uh power cord there you go so you can plug it in oil drain box of stuff stuff you imagine driving this thing under the tunnel of daytona in 1980 yeah back in that was probably cool i don't know if they did the tunnel did they do it uh on the back stretch maybe i don't know old school style i don't know when they put the tunnel in the tunnel's been there since the beginning oh really yeah so the haulers coming through the back stretch then i think they would back in the day they went through that way huh wow so this is a 71 which was the daytona 500 race where uh they got into a fight 1979 79 so this thing would have been there uh yeah kel yarborough bobby and donnie allison yeah that was the first nascar race on national tv wasn't cbs sports and rained out and then why not it was a big storm uh up in uh the northeast and back then you only have the three channels so people tuned in and at the end was uh the famous words uh by ken squire we have a fight and uh there it was this fight on national television after uh donnie as donnie says i uh knocked him talks about kale and then bobby stopped to give him a ride and uh next you know he called bobby an sob called it and bobby said to get out and he hit him when he was in the car and he saw blood bobby said i to get out and take care of this or run from the rest of my life and as to quote bobby ells and he said that's when he went to beating up my nose with his on my fist with his nose there you go isn't that donny allison someone that you guys do stuff yeah we just grabbed donnie nelson we just did a uh we did the number 27 ford talladega in there we just unveiled it a month and a half ago and we took it out to bonneville and we took it to uh spaceport and we did as a tribute to him because he won in that car uh during the arrow wars you know what you can check out a lot of that on write it down kids the garage shop uh youtube page check it out we got a lot of great videos and uh we subscribe back and forth so uh your crowd is definitely our crowd so uh you know be sure to check out the garage shop i knew about this place and followed stuff you guys did for a couple years well before i ever even left pennsylvania i was aware of um everything going on here so to actually meet here and be so close to it is really cool let's see if that door opens the side door it was way too easy it's probably just a little bit a little bit stuck give it some give it some wiggle there we go whoa what the heck's in here what was that crew helmet oh look at that well 1997 well we know where the burn pound he's older than me wow wow oh no that's creepy oh a doll what it's head is off oh no ah creepy run it's chucky's trick that's funny look at the cabinets here look at the fine cabinetry that looks like somewhat like my grandma's house wow there's so much in here stuff in there i have no idea what that is i'm not about to crawl in to find out stock car racing book okay um looks like there's some jackets and stuff in there it's a sucker oh that one that's greg fielding's book pretty sad as an author i know exactly where uh yeah that's great feeling oh my god greg fielding um cbs sports he was a historian uh this is a four-part book he dolly stick he uh he uh volume four he documented every single nascar race since it started who started where who finished where where and what they got paid and it's all android yeah craig's a great guy look at that it's well preserved see there's a final point standings 1980. that's crazy god that book's well preserved i don't even know what's in there i have the whole collection myself so it's bobby allison he likes the real ones oh my god you know this is all in here what's this it's very uniform right there yeah it does oh there's like plaques in here what is this it's a uniform a jacket yellow racing that is a flip over the front is that when uh they sponsored dick trickle nope yellow racing look at that it's extra large what's your size there extra large that's like still the packaging wow maybe we should walk across the street more often yeah seriously yeah what is this one oh my god an auto jacket his wife stevie wow they're just sitting here who knew did you guys have any idea this was in here they just said there was a bunch of boxes in here and i guess no one's really opened it up until just now why are you cracking open the history look at the hat what's in this hat connecticut state police no that's not a race team no quite the opposite look at this what is this still in the bag [Applause] uh route 66 daryl walford must be one of his uh shirts he had to wear for appearances wow amazing let's blow my mind we'll pull another one on here that's another one you got another one yeah that's another one holes right here this is just his pole for 81. was this a okay a dog thing yeah okay something like that let me hung up here you want another one a lot of a lot of pulls in 1981 records and see what uh doesn't know there's anywhere for me to stand on here so we'll just looks like there's like some chairs and stuff back there more boxes dumb it says some written on the roof i don't even know this is ridiculous this is an adventure for a whole nother follow-up here yeah wow i almost feel bad like what does like maybe there's stuff in there that daryl wonders where it is after all these years i don't know yeah we'll tell him like here's what we found what do you want we'll see what he says i expected to see cool stuff but i i didn't think anything like that no there could be some seriously awesome stuff in there there you go i'm glad you came out so we can see this we got like an archaeological dig here i could take a pull uh one of those pole plaques from 1981 and i have to explain to people when i was a junior in high school how i want to bushful we're not going to go into super detail about these things because i think we're going to save them for a future video just kind of wanted to give you guys a little teaser and let us know in the comments what you want to see more about so we can come back here and do it but this uh what is this all authentic daryl walters are actual race daryl ultra cars they're part of his collection the 83 shirley montecarlo oss pepsi challenger um you can see the different you know the numbers the 88 through here the tide car so we don't know the truck series it's even got his helmet in here yeah that's the real helmet wow it's just sitting here this this one right here is probably my favorite one yeah people are drawn to the pepsi one and the tide one because it's you know tied the most famous one of the more famous sponsors in this floor is this a asa car i do not know i'm not to tell you i never seen a camaro in anything that was nascar related until modern day three trucks i know the ones the three stooges then the trd and i believe the one in the middle rich pickle uh when he drove for daryl he won what was three wins that one year he won in that truck right there so a piece of history modified fans that's aaron's a toy he wants to go play 1978 daytona 500 modifying runner look at that thing that that's badass that's just badass this is the one from dale jr's podcast they talked about the beetle fenders right yes exactly from the route 66 which we just saw the shirts you had in your hand over there and of course you need a jaguar and a uh corvette to round out your collection here if i ever find the keys to either those on a friday if you see me in it's like yep i stole it okay let me know i'll go with you i guess someone's probably right she wouldn't appreciate that but anyhow and this is the vehicle that they took across the country they drove from here um totally almost 99 off road from here to las vegas wow yeah right up to the sema show and they rolled it in as is right onto the floor that's crazy he worked for d-e-i-n-o-c rcr mrn radio nascar.com to name a few uh places in the sport is that um where you met aaron as a dei we work together dale and art corporate and there's two other guys in there we work together as well like we laughed like we were out at the bonneville salt flats i looked at the three of them and i said do you ever think that we were in the daytona 500 victory lanes like 20 almost 20 years later we'd be out here on the bonneville south place we all know you know such as life and there we were together so we'll give you guys a quick look at the other things going on here some of the stuff that i think is really cool where they basically took old bodies and built them as if they were like a new stock car style what's under the hood of these things um that's a roush yates uh burn 9. fr9 that's the current forward engine isn't it there you go so that's like authentic nascar stuff that's raw shades manufactured made tuned go to uh let's look everything got oxidized in just a short few days that's just from a couple days a couple days yeah that's awful we did this one was to be unveiled we uh it was a leroy yarbrough car and then donnie ellison and bobby ellis and dave marcus came here one day and we talked aero wars and everything with them and we watched donny run his hand over and talk about the car and this and that we all went you know what we need to take this strip it down paint it red and i'll handle it's all hand lettering by sleeveless bob in mooresville and we put donnie ellison's name on it with his sponsors and we unveiled it surprised him uh which is one of our youtube shows um we surprised him and they uh charlotte motorspoon and victor lane and he was blown away had no idea whatsoever we were doing that then we took this out to bonneville and uh we ran it out there that's awesome how old is he now 81 maybe 82. this car and this car were part of the aero wars in 1969 1970 and then they got so fast that nascar said okay at the end of the 70 season said we're done these cars are done uh come up with something else so this car was well not this exact car but the car liked this bobby isaac had it so he said well heck they took it out to bonneville and 50 years ago and they did 24 records out on the salt so aaron lived next door to his sister goldie and he made a promise a few days before she passed she grabbed aaron's hand said hey do me a favor if you're going to go out to bundle and set those records i want you the only one to do it 50 years later we took this car put it on the salt and um fastest we was 211. so this car is uh it's modern everything but with this these were both built from the chassis up here at the garage shop wow yep this is that group of guys here put it all together that's awesome this is like this is like the coolest stuff ever yeah i don't know how interesting you guys think no it's amazing yeah this is like got me all kinds of stirred up and uh we went to uh the wilburn museum in alexander city alabama tim welburn has an awesome museum there if you check it out the original bobby isaac dodge daytona's there and he started when he brought it out and we put him next to each other and knows his nose and it was like the past meeting the president it was pretty emotional it was pretty cool that's really cool since we're in here what is well i know what it is but you want to tell them what aside from the calva viper here it's such a contrast of worlds um inaugural brickyard 400 race you know was nascar's first time going to the famed indy car track and danny sullivan said hey i want to take part in that so a company in indy put together uh called the corporate car and they got money from all these sponsors contributed and made the car possible and he qualified for the race um i don't think he lasted too long in there something happened to me i don't think you've made too many laps but uh this was um of course after the race it was gone and it was found in a barn in south carolina and we got our hands on it and we are refurbishing it and getting it um back to operating order again how to make some new updates and everything um but this is the car so it's been sitting here for a little while and uh when we get it all done i don't know what they're going to do with it i'm honest with you but um it's in our possession and contracted for us to for the garage shop to put it all uh back together again this used to be a morgan mcclure kodak car was it possibly it's got yellow under there okay maybe they got it from somebody else i don't know where it came from um it's cool the old logos contingency awards yeah some of them stood the test of time better than others yes um i think is gatorade so you're right so was this a sterling marlin car uh or ernie irvine i think it was an already urban car i believe instagram uh the garage shop twitter the garage shop facebook the garage shop noticing a trend and uh websites coming out soon and like i said we talked about our youtube channel uh the garage shop so yeah so it's important to be the same on every platform so it doesn't find you for those of you listening that want to grow your own pages make your stuff the same everywhere it helps we don't have 136 000 followers like you do all right well now it's 136 000 and one because i joined today oh cool i appreciate it you'll get there you got all kinds of everything you need you can make a whole channel on that truck right there yeah mark yeah so appreciate it yeah i'm glad you came out i know if you made it this far you are just as fascinated by this stuff as i am and i want you to check and make sure that you're subscribed with the notifications turned on so you would catch the next upload because we're definitely going to make more videos over there we're definitely going to go through that truck and find out more stuff in there i don't know maybe i convince them to uh once it gets cooler out actually see if it'll start because you know detroit diesel's run forever but there's something else i'd like to talk to you about the hat that i'm wearing and where you can get one staples in auto works dot com we got all kinds of stuff over here help support the channel and you look cool doing it too at least that's the goal um we got them in large extra large flex fit and small medium we got the original saw hat here in small medium we found a couple stragglers and large extra large did we put those back on the website uh no oh well we have to add to the inventory of this so someone can get them the the the shirt i'm wearing right now is the elvis t-shirt which is these we have everything in stock all the way up to 6x for almost everything unless we're out but when we order new shirts we order on every size all the way up to 6x i almost always forget to mention these we got decals i like these ones yeah me too they got five decals on the same sheet and they're good material dog vomit proof tested they work fine they don't come off they won't come off the back of your truck window or anything like that every single order gets a handwritten note from logan signed by both of us just something we like to do we also have the uncle rob shirts some leftover flag shirts and limited sizes and some leftover og good wrench shirts in only a couple sizes too that's all still on there once we get low on stuff we don't reorder it so if you like something in particular you better hop on it before it's gone because you may never see it again also that's one of my favorite things there that i didn't wear today because i knew i'd get sweaty it's the good wrench pit crew shirt oh i thought you were talking about my shirt i'm dead i literally leaned forward for you oh yeah question for you real g's that have been here a long time should we do another run of these with just the black with the suck it on there just like the hat um yeah we haven't we did a limited run of those back in april i think and i kind of miss it so let me know if we should bring those back go buy a shirt staplesonautoworks.com that's supposed to be the end of it okay that worked pretty well
