nowhere else is the building an exhibit in itself exactly the way it was they didn't even take the airlines off the wall in here that's about we're looking at right there the roof that house dale earnhardt's first championship car is now a vape shop i just feel like that's disrespectful we are at the richard childress racing museum which is not just a museum the building itself is historical too because this was like the original shop like dale earnhardt's car shop and whenever they moved they turned the original shop into a museum and kind of left it laid out the way it was let's go in here and check it out i don't think there's anybody else in here right now which is pretty cool see how they left like signs up on there for that and they left richard's office the same way it was too we're gonna go find this building later today and see what it looks like i know where it is i know that it's still there so we're gonna check that out too this was that was the shop before this was that's cool they took a picture of what this used to look like before it was changed there may not even be anything on the other side of this door anymore because i'm pretty sure that's where that um the wrangler car is but they left the door there now what this explains is how richard got his start um how he was able to get his own shop was he did racing of various types he's kind of on his own there was some tire problem at talladega all the drivers went on strike and nascar was paying people to race anyway so he went against the strike raced got paid and that's what it says here i believe that's what he used to go buy his own shop with which would have been that one yep steve does it right here you can pause and read that is this the one he didn't drive yeah well he drove it but he didn't like it oh yeah he wouldn't wear his uniform yeah allegedly they had a matching fire suit for this peter max cart and dale wouldn't wear it and he did not like this car at all i mean when i was a little kid i thought it was cool looking but you know when you're a little kid you think pretty colors are cool looking yeah it reminds me of fruit loops i guess this used to be the engine builders room and i got a picture of what it used to look like here i just think this is the coolest thing pause and read these things this whole area was engine building room the wood grain walls are funny yeah and that's that's how old this building is that's what it used to look like in there i don't know about you guys but i've been in a handful of these museums before of other places like you know hendrick and whatever nowhere else is the building an exhibit in itself this is just the coolest thing to me they really know how to keep the history alive here and this is the coolest part i think is richard's original office they left it all exactly how it was all of us [Music] they even have a super old computer and everything exactly the way it was if that's not the coolest thing ever you can get out of my face i'm just looking at all the little details on these things just taking note from my own reference it's pretty cool but i really want an sb2 in my monte carlo with these valve covers it's going to happen eventually sorry lsa is just temporary look they didn't even they didn't even take the airlines off the wall in here they're still over there on the wall like everything is exactly how it was grinding room ha ha just noticed something in here on the hull you guys can see that with the glare well there's a note tape to the dash it's like a bible verse or something like that then it says happy father's day at the bottom definitely has not been altered since this car was used it doesn't say who it's from but i do know that um i think it was daryl waltrip's wife stevie i think her name was uh would give dale like bible verses or scriptures before races and he would stick them to the dash so i would venture to guess that's what that is but it's cool that it's still in there and it's like unmodified i'm sure there's more of them in here but you can't get to can get to these this car was from the 2001 bud shoot out of daytona looks like it's on unmodified there's still scuffs and stuff on the back bumper and on the front there's still all the little black dots from rubber still damaged yeah it's still it's like a little bit stuff from bumping things i think it's awesome how they don't mess with stuff here they just leave it the way it is and they've still got the tear offs on the windshield too just noticing the differences in the body construction like at the base of the windshield there it's really dipped in there's a real big bulge there not so much on the other side but on this car that that dip is not there a little bit but it's nowhere near as pronounced as this one that's like some heavy modification there and it looks like they put a clear bra in here probably before richard took this thing around talladega um for his like pay slap or whatever because this car had been restored before obviously after the actual race of dale's last win there were tire marks all over it so they probably redid it but they didn't want to mess it up anymore it would be my guess both of these cars have the exhaust out both sides so the exit there over there that side has it so does this one so these would have had the super cool sounding x-pipe configuration on them if you listen there's like one good clip in the actual childress posted video of richard driving this thing at talladega where he goes on a front stretch and you can you can tell that it has that x-pipe it just sounds you just you just know when you listen to it i heard them say once that this is the actual setup plate that when this was the shop like you remember in the other guy's shop there was that big flat metal thing this was this is where they actually did that it looks like there used to be something here i don't know if this was museum related at one point or what what is up with that door handle i don't know it looks like it came out of an 80s bathroom i'll also sit on this thing yeah built a gm tech center may 1st 1995 so this is like some you know promotional thing i don't think this is even rcr chassis well you'll notice this orange color in here it uh all of his interiors were painted this color and they match the stripes on the outside you see everybody doing these dale earnhardt tribute cards with freaking red vinyl and it is wrong they are freaking orange you can see it clear as day if you see one of these things in person i will show you it drives me up a wall when i see these black and red tribute cars they're not are any of these black and red no it's clear as day freaking orange yeah see we'll show this here that is red the plus is red this is orange red orange everywhere every single car is like that probably because the orange pops on a tv camera better than the red does and fun fact the orange on my monte carlo is the same paint code because they told me what it was and it's a ford color sorry to ruin that for all you chevy people dailer and hearts cars were painted in a ford mustang color it's a fact if you don't like it i don't care if you're wrong they told me oh you can see perfect example right here red orange yeah no i'm fully prepared for stupid clothes it's good it's not and it is a mustang color like in 1990 when dale earnhardt was leaning on the last lap and blew a tire they kept the freaking tire you can pause and read that they kept the dang tire richard shoulders is literally the man you can see there's more rooms over there like parts room suspension room gear room magnaflux for crankshafts and stuff there's like a bunch of chairs in that hallway and there's still wind flags hung up in there that i don't know if you can see because the lighting but they like really left everything the way it was this is his daytona 500 car which you can see is not modified at all it's faded in some places like it was parked in the sun somewhere but the big plus on the hood is red and even though it's faded it's still orange i noticed that the front wheel has the red orangish circle on it this one's blue now i can't confirm but i would speculate that since at this time mike skinner was his teammate and drove a 31 car it was low it was blue they probably used one of their wheels on one of the last pistops in the race or something because i don't think that they've changed anything on this car at all even a little bit well on this side it's got yellow yellow rings around it yep they're both yellow i don't know if the camera can see that so at least this side is how it was left and you see a little tv camera on there so whenever they cut to that shot those logos are all big little stinky things it's funny i like how beefy all these braces are on the spoiler and how they each have a stud on them that's adjustable before the race there was a make-a-wish kid that gave dale a penny a lucky penny and he glued it to the dash it's still there i don't know if you can see that but i could see it and i could tell you that it's still there and when you move back through here there's still a engine crane thingy there unmessed with it's like literally exactly how they left it everything is exactly how they left it yeah this is where we'll just look at this real quick this is where they have the hauler that's how it was but before we jump over there this is like the wash bay where they'd unload stuff bring the car in here and then pick it up clean it off before they started doing other stuff to it after a race all the floors raped they got drains there okay turn around i wish there was a way to zoom in i don't know if you can see it that is what these shirts that i'm wearing are modeled after they'll pick through uniforms in the early 90s you can find these at stabletonautoworks.com and these hats are out of stock right now but we're getting more so check that out shameless plug onward oh that's cool oh yeah you can see the tire within a tire on the uh that blown out one yeah i noticed that i think it's cool they still have the curtains in here so whenever they're pressure washing something it wouldn't make dust and blow stuff everywhere i think they use this hauler for other stuff for a little bit afterwards but once it was retired it was brought back here and put back the same way it was and stuck in in here this is actually where it would park and pull it right in here exactly where it is i think payday bar looked like that back then in the early 2000s because they probably used this hauler for a couple of years after after that happened but uh that's definitely not a thing anymore yeah i have never seen that this museum opened in 2003 i think so whatever's in here could be circa 2003 if it was added after the fact i didn't even block any of these i figured i didn't think that would actually open everything is perfectly labeled and then because i think everybody's toolbox has a whatever drawer but they actually put it on there whatever they have the original lounge part blocked for a good reason it's still nice up there that's pretty cool these trailers or something else there's a bunch of mirrors on the roof maybe you can't see that but i can tell you it's there yeah i think they i don't know if this is actually the original tractor i read some debate about this that this may not be the original one but it might be i can't remember what they said look they got drains down there too they'd probably wash the hauler in here let's check the date code on these tires they're 24.5 so you know it might be a little older but let's see here 49 4906. these tires are from 2006. i would say that this hauler this particular peterbilt got used for a while after that then it lived a life beyond dale they have a video of them pulling this thing in here interesting to note that the graphics on the hauler are actually red they're not orange like the car is this is like clearly red everywhere it doesn't make a whole lot of sense i don't i don't know no explanation for that other than i'm pretty sure the car was orange because of tv cameras and you know being seen from a distance and that stuff uh i think the trailer was already in here but once they retired the tractor they pulled the trailer out hooked them back up and then put them in here so this is the proper combo that makes sense i think that that's what they did i got more old pictures in here for like the old r d area wind tunnel models and not all of this is like dedicated daler and heart it just so happens to be that richard has almost every single car dale drove from the 90s onward once we move out of here the rest of the museum is like everything else about rcr this is just the daler and heart part but this clay car is really cool about 150 000 to make that thing that's just crazy chassis number rhe i don't know what that is probably buy him from somewhere children's makes their own chassis now pause and read that so this was a fab room until 1994 and then after that they just did finish working here see this that's bright orange that's a good comparison right there snap on red graphics orange if you're still not sold that should be pretty good yeah that's the same sam bass yeah it looks like the cars just there's this clip art of this dog that was like farting into the sky and that's what that reminds me of yeah it'd be like that they left all the sheets on here february 2002 they literally just i don't know if those papers actually line up to this particular car number but man if it did that would be something else i just leave that exactly the way it was these are like still good machines too those are original original signs and banners everywhere so yeah they whittled this thingy into the shape of a fish head that's funny you want to sit on his face i feel like that's disrespectful now we go into the the part of the museum that is the rest of rcr i really like these kevin harvard cars because growing up i was a big kevin harvick fan just because i felt bad for him when he was the underdog i felt bad for the guy that had to drive dale earnhardt's car because he was just some guy and he's supposed to drive daler hart's car and five-year-old me thought you know what i'm gonna be his fan because that's gonna be hard to do he can pause and read this this looks to be the car that kevin harvey got his first win in which i remember that i had many little kid t-shirts that had this car on it and this is probably my favorite paint scheme of all time of the entire history of forever and you can tell that this isn't red either it's like a obnoxious just day glow orange everything on it it's even brighter than dale's orange was especially you can tell right here even just looking at it on my gopro it doesn't look like it like this is like legit day glow orange and if you haven't noticed the back of the uncle rob shirt and turbo yukon the graphic on it is derived from this paint scheme it's actually like a tracing a modified tracing of the back of the hauler they use for these cars yeah if you win the brickyard you kiss the bricks i was pointing out the pit crew but oh yeah those are the newer maybe we'll spoof those too this is a dale junior car he talked about this on his podcast he said something about how they took tape off the grille or somewhere it had this little hole under there that would pull air down and once they pulled that off he said the car was amazing and he just dominated with it it was the greatest thing ever said they erased it only one time before they put it in this museum like oh there's the three and then like this little junior next to it i remember watching the race where kevin harvard got the burnout blew his tires up at indy and they kept those too because richard's the man and it's interesting to note that the day glow orange trim on here is hand laid pinstripe vinyl everything else it looks like paint like they painted the black they painted the silver and then for the orange they just laid the vinyl on it which i'm taking notes from my own reference if i ever go to do something like that one of my own cars what's this one all smashed up from oh watkins glenn you can pause and read these things by the way if you haven't picked that up yet i remember watching this race too 2007 daytona yeah poor old mark martin he was leading too and harvick just kind of came out of nowhere in one but i know these cars this is like one of the last cars that had the cool sounding x-pipe you can see the exits are on both sides it's quite scraped up they left the confetti on there and everything you know sometimes i wonder what will this stuff be doing in 100 years oh i was there when he drove this car when he did the the one lap around at the time lowe's motor speedway that was like i don't know eight years old or something i don't remember anything else about that race but i remember richard driving this around the track the one time for the tribute thing ricky rudd drove the three car um also before dale did and like after sort of like when dale was at bud moore the the shop we looked at before ricky was here and then dale came back here ricky went to bud moore there's an interesting episode about that on delgener's podcast too where ricky rudd talks about his anger towards dale for that kind of whole thing it's pretty neat and here we have a nice pig thing yeah i don't know what this is oh i guess tyler radic won the xfinity championship which this is like past my time of knowing what was going on or paying attention but i remember i really liked the ac delco 2 car when i was little it always had a cool paint scheme and it's sparkly this is one of richard's old cars because back when he was a owner driver in his old little shop over there does what he did he was number three before anybody else was or anybody else in the context of rcr cars obviously like junior johnson used number three back in the 50s but he had number three before dale did that's why dale had it and it's so cool that these things are just actual cars that are modified and not purpose-built things people that go to branson think that dixie stampede is really cool for whatever reason that's funny yeah i don't i don't even know what any of that is so you're not missing out there's a neil bonnett fire suit fun fact when i came here in 2015 i took a picture right here and this thing was the background of my laptop for years these old luminos are probably my favorite they're just so good looking when they got no headlights printed on them or anything i mean the actual illumina like like the produced car you you would buy is like pretty much the stupidest thing ever but the nascar version illumina is hands down just awesome i don't know what the significance of this car is just awesome there's like little indentations here for where the tailpipes would come out on the production car i never noticed that before and this is not a dale truck this is a mike skinner truck the early days of the truck series dale never drove a truck ever mike skinner and uh maybe somebody else did too very briefly but pretty much just mic this is another really cool car this is a car that kevin harvick won the championship with in 2001 in the bush series and they left exactly how he had it too and it just demolished everything when the tire exploded which is it's cool there's like a panel knocked out of there that might have come out from under here and they probably just threw it in there but there's chunks of tire too i don't know if those made it in during the explosion or if they were thrown in there also by somebody including burnout i wonder if that's like the fuel the fuel calculation so we may be done here for now but we're not done with the history tour yet remember that old shop in the beginning of the video i told you we'd go check it out we're gonna go check it out here it is right here this was it there pretty sweet right now we're coming up on something pretty cool some of you may know what this is if you don't i'll explain it to you we're in spartanburg south carolina right now and this the destination is on your right this right here north fairview avenue this building was bug more engineering which if you don't know was the race team that daler and hart race for the early 80s it's basically abandoned now it looks like this college over here owns it you can see where it used to say stuff looks like it says oor it used to say bud more engineering on the wall here this is where all the magic happened and it's just here doing nothing i'll run down next to some train tracks wow i wonder what the purpose of each of these doors is served you could tell i've been added on to different times i think bud moore was active as a race team until 1999 somewhere around there but i would guess when dale was in here that the steel part of this building was not there it was just this like maybe this is where they backed the hauler in and unloaded stuff i i don't know they got a hose and stuff right there maybe that was where they you know they they backed the car out and they pulled in there to clean it off after a race that's so cool you can see there that that sign we're standing right where that is that sign's right along the line with this and you can see the stud there the stud there for the g and the rest of it went that way you got the lone one down here for the bottom of the g there's been other variations of the sign here since then but this one that's just so freaking cool whole while back up here that's about that's what we're looking at right there [Music] i just like to stand in places like this and just absorb it i don't know just take it in cool stuff happened here i want cool stuff to happen to me i just stand here and imagine what's happened where i'm standing right now it makes me feel good explorations continue right now we are almost too burping whatever i'm not even gonna cut that out it's real here we're on the way to the former building of rod osterlund's shop which is another race team that dale earnhardt raced for back in the day that is the one he won his first championship with in 1980 the the number two car where the i think that was where the whole wrangler thing originated uh when his crew chief was suit case jaden right at your destination yeah austrian solos team to jd stacy and dale didn't want to race for him so he quit this is it right here um are all the subarus i don't know apparently it's now vape shop and cbd and other stuff i don't know if any of this was part of the race shop i think it was just this main building here i don't know it has nothing to do with cars anymore which is really interesting very weird it's pretty tight you tell is quite old all of this and is have no idea i mean other guys besides they'll raced out of here too even once it was um sold to jd stacy or whatever we just came from metrolina speedway which is no longer existing it's not even abandoned in the woods anymore we thought it was there it's still there on google earth but when you get there um it's a freaking fedex distribution facility that has literally not even finished yet they must have just built it yeah that was it harris professional building here's the roof that house dale earnhardt's first championship car is now a vape shop i just feel like that's disrespectful to everybody in america it's just not just this doesn't sit well with me
