with all that you guys have been doing and may allah your information is safe so inshallah we're going to uh give the microphone to our speaker and inshallah he will talk after that we'll have our but allah is the best of planets and there's only he and he alone who unites the hearts and it changes the is many of you may know or may not know my story but i come from these streets here in new york city i was born and raised in harlem anybody to reside in these farm boroughs doing the 80s would understand that what transpired on these streets was an epidemic they reached almost every single home in new york city and it was the crack epidemic it was something that destroyed the lives and the souls of many many people and i wasn't proud of that advice and everything that i had to endure going through every transitional phase in my life led to me sitting in this very massive right now with every last one of you who i now call my brothers in islam there was a time i probably would have spoke to about 95.5 percent of y'all because i wouldn't have no reason many of y'all i wouldn't have even been able to identify with because i was so immersed in the lifestyle that was in complete opposition of who we are today but i say that to save many you brothers just by looking around by the mercy and permission of allah i've traveled to six continents everywhere except antarctica i've been in numerous countries in west africa east africa i lived in egypt so i say that this year i'm looking around this room and i see a lot of problems with a born muslim from the mercy of allah you came from the womb of a believer you was nurtured and cultivated by believers many of you by allah's mercy you were born upon true guidance and it is something that not a single one of y'all should ever take for granted but allah i never knew anything about islam i wasn't looking for it i wasn't searching for it i was on a mission to re-establish my career after leaving bad boy breakfast i remember visiting senegal where some of you brothers may be from and i remember visiting gorilla which is supposed to be along those best one of the first slave houses ever built and i remember there was a brother that took me on a tour i didn't go with the generic guy that had the button-up shirt he looked like he was a tour guide for disney or something i didn't think i thought it was serious he didn't look serious but it was a brother that just so happened to be standing on the side look like he knew something so i approached him and i asked him what happened here in short he told me 60 million slaves passed away he said but six million never left the soil they fought and died right here so me being from the street being a rapper i was ignorant right so i looked them like man they must have been some real real they said nah man they got muslims muslim he said they would not submit to no one other than the law and they thought they died [Music] he said the reps who were weak and he man they were the ones who got soul into sleep from that very moment i was stripped of black nationalism i didn't care no more about the first black man that made the shoe the first black man it made that i ain't islam like myself that's all we had to hold on to that's how we established our dignity and our honor by holding on to a legacy of lies but it was all we had and we found soulless in understanding where we came from but when this man made our reward because that was the first stab at my heart and i'm not saying that bad sad but it was the first time that my heart was shook and like i said from that day i was stripped of black nationalism and something remained that i couldn't explain my second encounter with islam i went to kazakhstan i knew some very very influential russians and i introduced them to some very very influential people as well but i never did it with any intention of gaining anything from them so one day i guess the call he said you have to let me do something for you you never ask me yes i'm good man i'm cool i already hang out with your son we travel the world we do all types of unspeakable things i really believe i'm good he said no you have to let me do something for you that's all right man i just want to go to russia man do a shot uh sorry there's a tesla outside that is blocking someone a black tesla and i know we don't better tell you to play because probably only one tesla out here there's a lot of cameras no [Music] so i told this man i'm good i mean you know you just let me go to russia i'll go shopping or something so i ended up being the guest of the president of kazakhstan for nine days i'm running around this country and i mean these people was moving stuff out of the way for me but i remember on the ninth day when i was leaving and i was backstage because i performed out there and i remember smoking the president dude came man he was a young guy too so i asked him like look at your question like when you see somebody like how you say what's up he says right now that's what the muslims say he said now we muslims so this is the first time i've ever seen adversity in islam you know living in new york yeah i know what it is the african brothers pakistani brothers the yemeni brothers you know this is the extent of muslims in new york either ida or african brother the pharmacy maybe pakistan but i've seen something else now they got muslims in russia tv don't show you that these are like descendants of mongolians so they have like oriental features i had no idea what was going to come out of his mouth or survive my name in my next trip i visited the uae but what happened was extraordinary because when i went to abu dhabi and i remember walking into my hotel and i remember seeing the sun rise for those of you who are born muslim you know the significance of the sun rising it means a whole lot more to you than it did to me cause back then the sun meant you sleep the moon made you party that's it [Music] moon daytime out lit and that was the extent when the sun seen the sun rising over the arabian sea everything that i experienced prior to that came together it all made sense from the trip to synagogue to the trip to college stand to right there that very moment allah did something to my heart now the single muslim spoke to me invited me to a daughter's conference nothing i knew at that very moment i wanted to be a muslim i went down to the lobby the hotel the first muslim i found i ran up on him and i told him i wanted to be a muslim and he looked at me that was crazy he said what do you mean besides i want to be a muslim so i want to get muscles up because i know i was holding on to something i didn't want to lose he was taking his time and it was painful because it's like i don't know what's going to happen if i don't find somebody who brings clarity to this but he says [Music] [Music] you gotta dig at that moment i knew something changed in my heart but i wasn't sure so the first brother i called was a brother that i knew was a muslim you know me a lot deserve them i'm the one for selling guns but he was only most of my movies fulfilling how they left and i called them all away from the bar but i'm excited i see the items they're running around dancing and on top of the cars and it just looked like you know something festive was going on so i called myself said i'm out here you're sorry who it is i said this alone y'all he said yo you muslim i'm like yeah man i just took the thing so you took your honesty yeah he said it was all that [Music] [Music] nothing he was talking about but he was only muslim i know and at that very moment you know it shows you how the hearts you know are inclined [Music] he was trying to warn me before i even knew alec back if i knew anything and i said i had to say a lot of us we run from advice we run from it some of us got stage four nobody can tell me nothing i mean we suffer from it you know the prophet sallallahu alaihi he was telling me said none of you will have faith until you want for your brother what you want for yourself so this is where we take off because this is where everything is important because i know i'm looking at your brothers i just came from prison some of y'all got that look some of y'all got that look that you're fighting real hard to overcome the fitness of this dungeon but i want to say lost what the island reward every last one you because you're here because you want to be here where i just came from brothers is trying to make muslims come to juma brothers is trying to make brothers pray for all they are free you get to go where you want to go so if you come to the masjid may allah reward you because you're here because you want to be here because i'm removed that from my heart and i know a lot of you brothers struggle with a lot of things but since i've been home in four months i can imagine i could imagine i've seen things in just four months i've been home they almost bring me the tears that you got to grow up in this generation remember how i started this i grew up in a crack epidemic y'all living in a whole different time with a whole lot of different influences and a whole lot of different fitness trials and tribulations and i pray that allah subhanahu wa to protect you all when i say about advice you have to look at that also like it's a protection because not only do you have to protect yourself you got to protect each other but if you're not going to allow me to protect you yet [Music] by advising you to stay mindful and this is the beauty of this life that never would i have imagined that any of us that there was any difference and that is because of the single fact that islam is based on one single root and that is but from this uh the speech i took a lot of things but most importantly three things and i want to share with you so that just in case you missed it just in case you got carried away with the devotion because i was feeling the emotion from his voice and i was being emotional at this very moment first is the hope of the mercy of allah that it no matter where you've gone where you've been what you've done that the doors of allah is always open it takes one instant one moment for you to make that decision that i want to turn to allah before i return to allah and the second thing is love and brotherhood and i remember this particular brother right here the last time we had the event say something similar here so that's all we got if we don't love one another if we don't protect one another then what else do we have and lastly is the constant effort to learn and know more about the dean of islam because it's not enough to just be a muslim and that's why i was back when he mentioned all these countries that he'd been to and all the doves that he'd been just to let you guys know and myself that it's not just enough to be a muslim you ought to seek the knowledge you have to do more so may allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will preserve you may allah make this moment bear witness for you on the day of qiyamah now before we move on to the question and answers first we're going brothers here in the masjid for establishing this youth program for the youth they are the future of islam and it is a must that we pay great attention to the youth as this is the sunnah of the prophet muhammad that he paid special attention to the youth from the sahaba the likes of abdullah in your past and other than them so i think the brother is here are thanking a lot for reviving this of giving special attention to the youth and my presence here today i didn't come to speak a king to support the program because of the importance of the concern that we must show towards the muslim youth then the brother had asked you know can i give kelly mart just for benefit and hungry love you know allah azzawajal is is kind and he facilitated the situation for me to speak to you for a brief moment and i thank the brothers for their good thoughts about me and i thank my brother amir may allah preserve him for his good words and i say may allah azzawajal make me better than what he thinks and may allah do not want me to account for what he says and may he forgive me for that which he doesn't know about me [Music] allah azzawajal he mentions in the quran and remind for indeed the reminder benefits the believer and we know the promise that the religion is sincerity or advice and what is the best advice or reminder that one can give to his muslim brother his muslim sister is that which comes after the statement of allah that i have not created the jinn nor the mankind except to worship so my my reminder so the youth specifically into the community in general don't forget the purpose in life don't those focus of our purpose here and this life and that purpose is to worship allah subhanahu without this is what allah has created us we are created to worship allah this is the greatest obligation the greatest responsibility that we have upon us and that is to worship allah and the worship must be done sincerely for [Music] and they were not commanded except that they worshiped allah alone sincerely making their practice of the deed for him as monotheists and the second matter of the ibadah is that we have to worship allah the way the prophet muhammad saw a lot of sudden worship for islam is not your religion to where you can do whatever you want to do now this is allah's deen that he has favored us with and we must practice the deen as allah want us to practice today in the prophet muhammed he is the example for all of us that indeed you have in the messenger of allah a beautiful example so the messenger he is the example of how to properly worship god if your worship is not the way the prophet muhammad saw allah they will suddenly worship then this is not worship if your worship is not being done sincerely for allah these are the two conditions for the acceptance of actions if one of the two is missing the action is rejected as allah therefore the one who hopes with the meeting with his lord then let him do righteous actions and let him not associate anyone in the worship of his lord so here in this verse at the end of surah you have the two conditions of ibrahim let him do righteous actions meaning actions are in accordance to the teachings of the prophet and let muhammad not associate anyone in the worship of his lord this is the sincerity so this is the first model number two islam is a favor from allah don't take your deen for granted allah has favored you my noble brothers my youth allah has favored you allah has favored us from those who are no longer at that stage of being youth anymore we're still favored because we are muslims allah azzawajal he mentions what might become minerals and whatever you have of a blessing is from allah there's no blessing in life that we have except that the blessing comes from allah and the blessings are of two types and then you have you have the worldly blessings children wives lawful wealth this is from the worldly blessings good health from the worldly blessings but then you have the nema the religious blessings and these blessings are greater than the worldly blessings allah azzawajal he mentioned and i have perfected my favor upon you and i am pleased with you islam is your way of life your religion allah mentions that islam is complete who on the face of the earth can say that their religion is complete except that he is a liar and his claim is enforcement we are the only ones on the face of the earth that can say that our way of life is a complete way of life and prove it allah he mentions that the nirmah is a perfected negro our way of life is perfect we don't need no other way of life what we have is sufficient for us and i say this to the youth because sometimes you find the youth especially some of those who have been raised as muslims they take islam for granted similar to myself and the brother probably can attest to it i'm sure he can attest to it how we treated christianity it was like the family are christians we christians no practice no relationship really with the church even though it was possible we had a claim to something but we never really lived it unfortunately you have some of those who are raised in islam the same way a muslim my family's also my mother's my father's myself no be grateful for this upon you this perfected blessing don't just say that you're muslim but be grateful by showing allah you appreciate this member of islam by practicing it this is how you show your gratitude gratitude with the heart knowing that the blessing is from allah gratitude will become thinking allah verbally and mentioning it and thirdly gratitude with your actions if you say that you are grateful for being a muslim then it must show in your behavior it must show in your speech allah says he's pleased with this religion as our way in life no other way islam allah speaketh allah is not pleased with the way of the blood allah is not pleased with the way of the crips allah is not pleased with the way of the latin kings and the entires and all the other groups and gains in the likes of organizations whatever they want to call themselves allah didn't say he is pleased with any of that please be islam as your way of life [Music] is [Music] other than islam it will never be accepted allah says never not not it now but then later accepted no it will never be accepted and then in the year after he'll be from amongst the losers so if you want to be a and die upon being a or die upon being a blood today if you want to be a loser then go ahead and follow that path allah is not going to accept it but if you want to be one who is successful then you follow what allah has revealed in the quran and you follow that which allah has given to the prophet said successful indeed are the believers not the gay members not the hustlers being while selling drugs and destroying the societies and corrupting the homes successful indeed are they believers any man is a belief on the heart statement of the tongue and actions of the body this is faith this is true faith so our honor is in practicing this life and i won't be long of the people and then allah he gave us behind islam so as long as we search and seek out might and honor in other dinners now allah will humiliate us any time you think you're going to find success and other than practice in islam allah is going to humiliate you by that path that you have chosen which is other than the deen of allah understand this my youth i say this out of love because i like the brother i was a lost soul out here i grew up here in the bronx the brothers of harlem i grew up near 161st street morris avenue before they built the courthouses my block was rightfully i went to gompers high school one of the roughest high schools back in the early 90s it was bad out here in la and i'm grateful so i'm sharing this with you so that you understand to know there's nothing out there you're not missing anything don't think that you're missing out on having fun you can have fun as a muslim you can have a good time as a muslim fun halal experiences you don't have to indulge in sin in order to find happiness because any happiness that you find in the sin is only temporary [Music] it's there for the moment and then afterwards there's the regret in the song but if you seek your happiness in the halal there's no regret nothing the prophet muhammad sallallahu alaihi was something he said and this is the third piece of advice and i will end with this he said to one of the youth abdullah meaning what don't get too comfortable here mr we're just passing through do you know how a stranger behaves when he's in a strange land he's careful not to break no laws he doesn't want to get in no trouble he's careful not to get involved in anything that doesn't concern him or passing by a passer-by he's not comfortable you don't find a passerby buying a place and then furnishing it he's just passing by no he takes was was sufficient for him for his journey and he keeps on the road this is how the prophet saw allah advised one of the youth so i advise you youth with the same advice that the prophet gave to one of the youth in his time or abuse he prophet take from your sickness or take from your health for your sickness take from your life for your death and when you reach the night don't expect to reach the morning or when you reach the morning don't expect to reach the night the importance of preparing ourselves for meeting allah a man came to the messenger salallahu that's what's more important than one knowing when the day of judgment is and of course no one knows because that's from the knowledge of the unseen as of allah so the promise of allah was suddenly directed into that which is more important have you prepared for it do not give preference to this dunya over if the life of this world was equal to the wing of a mosquito allah will not have given a disbeliever a drop of water to drink to the believers and the disbelievers but allah only gives the deen to those who he loves we are from those whom allah loves we are muslims so prepare for that meeting with allah as the prophet saw allah remember in abundance that would that which cuts off the pleasures meaning cut off the pleasures person having a good time here comes malibu mode party over and it's not like the old house parties when they used to flick the light on and off right and then you know it's the last song coming right so you got a chance to you know get your lives dancing it's not like that hey right they need to do that back in the day when you know when the lights start going off and on that means it's the last song all right everybody get ready this is it the party's over no it's not like that without a before manipulate comes that's it no time to do a good no time to stop an evil right whatever state you're in servant is resurrected in the state that he died so i say to you my human how do you want to be resurrected on the day of judgment as good muslims righteous muslims or you want to be resurrected as a carnalist a thief a drug dealer a gay member fornicator adulterer how do you want to be resurrected you have the opportunity now as the brother mentioned to change things around elizabeth he accepts the repentance of the servant as long as he has not started that gargle of death so the door is open for us and may allah make us from amongst those who hear a good word and follow it and may allah allow us to die because everything that he's saying is very impactful it's like a bullet every word that he says and directly speaking to the soul of anyone i'm sure who's listening to him we also lost allah that will be among those who hear what's good and follow it not among those who hear what's good and stay away from
