what's up everybody its damp I wanted to do video today of probably the question I get asked the most and that is how do I have so much gold and how do I make gold and and how do I save gold and all those things so gold overall and darkest dungeon you guys know if you're watching this video is probably the biggest bottleneck that exists in the game one of the things that gets asked most commonly to me is holy crap how did you get all that gold well first of all this is like week 300 a week 199 I think I passed 1 million gold I've had as much as about 1.4 million gold the devs originally retweeted when I hit over a million gold a long time ago and really there's a few different ways to make gold so I wanted to give you guys what I feel are the top 15 ways to get gold and I'll start from the bottom and work my way up and this is something that won't necessarily apply to all you but maybe even if you're advanced you can take one or two things away that might help you and hopefully this benefits the vast majority of you who always ask me this question so I wanted to make sure to do a video for it so first of all to kind of start we'll start with gold and how you acquire it so you typically get gold by completing missions defeating mobs interacting with curios and then saving it is probably the biggest thing I would tell you but so you kind of know the basic ways to get it obviously or you wouldn't be here watching this but there's a lot of ways to spend it and there's ways to spend it efficiently and there's ways to kind of waste gold so without further ado as they say we're going to number 15 so number 15 I have is pretty basic and really it starts with just instead of using early on in the game instead of using the keys on the heirloom chests just loot it and take the risk that you may take some damage and you may take blight or bleed but take the risk and open it without the key and you have I believe it's 75% chance you're going to come away with gems and gold much more efficient to take gems and gold than it is to take the heirlooms at that point the only thing you really need is deeds and there's really only a 1 in 4 chance that you would get a deed there whereas gold as your primary bottlenecks you want to make sure to open those when you can the next thing is the same thing with all the unlocks strongboxes just take the risk unless you're really low on health have your highest health character or one who has the most resist to blights or bleeds depending on which instance you're in or which dungeon you're in take the risk and open them a lot of people I see skip them and a lot of people I see use keys in the heirloom chest when you don't necessarily have to use that you can just take a chance and use just open it yourself another thing that kind of falls into this and I only really covered those two curios because they're the ones that are in all of the dungeons I didn't want to go through and kind of go through the entire list of every curio and where you're going to get gold from but those are two that I think can be addressed globally but another way to do it is early on in the game if you get a blood thirst ring you don't have to buy as much food hardly any food actually if you have them on all of your characters and that can save you a lot of money every instance you run with those rings when they're on your heroes is saving you money that you would have to use to outfit your party when you provision so that's another little tip that there's another one called a fasting seal that they can also help with that but just just FYI that's one of the ways I feel that would help you especially early on in the game so moving on the number 14 is a lot of people don't know that kleptomaniac and egomania have the chance to steal items from your party which will reduce your gold output so when you have those you may not want to bring those characters on dark runs you're doing or if you are going to bring them know that they do have a possibility that you'll take your stuff most people know this but it's some of the newer players don't moving on to number 13 when you have trinkets that aren't very good and you all know what they are you can see some of my videos if you want to see examples of poor trinkets but when you have them you can sell them the way you sell them is you just go into trinket menu and then you can shift and you'll see how much they sell for so the ancestral czar 7500 you look at some of the common ones they're over a thousand gold as you go an uncommon 1500 going into very rare Czar 3750 and you'll see that I haven't sold any of my trinkets since week I mean I've never sold any of them on this play and the reason is that often when you get into patches and hot fixes these trinkets get balanced so some of the best trinkets in the game like the tuff ring are now someone that are really pretty mediocre hell's hairpin used to be the best trinket in the game now it's actually minimally useful so know that if you sell them you probably don't need any more than four of one trinket unless you're just too lazy to swap items like I am I don't want to swap items off people but at this point I could probably be selling a ton of them I just don't just because I've never sold any on this playthrough but that's one another way you can make some quick gold moving on to number 12 especially in the beginning of the game don't keep all the deeds they are the heirlooms they keep the heirlooms not deeds deeds you want to keep early in the game but these take up a lot of space and your inventory and you don't need most of these early on you really want to focus maybe on a few crests but primarily the deeds or your bottleneck early on so you can upgrade your stagecoach first so when you're doing that and you're going through a dungeon keep in mind you don't need to keep the heirlooms sure they're useful eventually but the gold is much more useful than the heirlooms so prioritize early on to keep the gold next thing you can do to kind of increase your gold output is when you're looting and you're going through a dungeon loot things on your way back so what I mean by that is if you know you're going to have to pass a chest again later on or a pack a discarded pack or even a sack wait until you come back and let your torch light go down a little bit so that you're able to get a better loot roll when you go back and pick it up so for those of you who don't know the darker it is if you highlight your torch up here at the top of the screen you're in a dungeon you're able to actually see if your lutes going to be increased or not walk around a little bit until that loot is increased and then go from there and that should usually allow you to loot and get a better loot role moving on the number 10 and this is basically 2 tips and 1 so in the Warrens scene yeah and in the cove scene yeah you have free chances to get rid of these negative quirks so how do you do that so in the Warrens bring some extra torches and anytime you run across Scrolls you're going to light them on fire in the cove anytime you run into quarrel use herbs in there so bring a few extra orbs and utilise them on the coral and that will same thing get rid of some of your some of your negative quirks that's a good way to save a ton of money at any time in the game really because negative quirks are always expensive to get rid of moving on to number 9 so a quick way to reduce stress which is a big gold bottleneck is to bring characters who have good chances at disarming traps those would be your grave robber your highwayman or I'm sorry your hound master and your highwayman those are usually the best three when it comes to going in and disarming traps so if you disarm traps that allows them to have less stress and take less damage less chance for a blight or a bleed meaning you can maybe save utilizing a bandage or an anti-venom but utilizing somebody who can disarm traps can often save you some some gold later on with having to reduce stress number eight another quick way to reduce stress and I shouldn't say quick but another great way to reduce stress that's free is just not using those characters for a couple weeks every week you go through in the game if somebody has stressed there's a little bit that will go down so that's kind of like a free stress reduction that you don't have to pay for so Park somebody you don't want to use for a few weeks and let their stress go down number seven bring characters like I just mentioned that have the same ones that have good trap disarm usually a pretty good scouting the grave robber really sells here you could give her the Survival Guide which I'll show you guys I've already covered how useful I feel this is you give her a survival guide which gives you 10% scouting trance 10% trap disarm or another one that's really really really good as the ancestors map and I don't know where it is right now but it's on one of those characters don't you guys have to wait to see it but those are good ways that you can avoid taking damage and taking stress and that's when somebody scouts you can actually avoid certain fights you can avoid certain traps if you can't disarm them for whatever reason you can really prioritize the rooms you want to select which allows you to reduce the amount of stress and damage you're going to take moving on number six number six is pretty simple and a lot of people talk about this but at level zero run some dark runs or run some dark runs on some of your characters that you're probably not going to keep that are going to incur a lot of stress and then kind of just dump them you know go in here and click this miss hero and send them away and then replace them with somebody else but those dark runs are a great way to get through the initial bottleneck of gold also another thing to consider is if you're having a really crappy time at getting healers off the stagecoach early on in the game just run four guys through that you don't really want to keep as far as they can go in a dark run and then abandon it the stress that they're going to get doesn't really matter and then what you can do is is take the gold that you got from them and at least keep it it's better to abandon with gold than it is to continue to go through and risk that you're going to lose your trinkets and your gold number five don't upgrade skills and weapons early on and so you have quirks you want to lock and here's something that came from I believe it was Chris that tweeted me at this last June he said one of the hints that they give new players is don't invest in anyone until this resolve level changes colors so notice this is just white until you get to level 3 so that's something that the devs even designed in their game and their game theory I guess you would call it that that applies to when you want to invest in characters now when you get somebody really good you probably want to lock that quirk in but you want to invest in them like their weapons their arm or their combat skills or their camping skills invest in that when their color changes moving a number for dismiss high-stress people that you aren't going to keep so again this has really talked about it's a pretty common tip but dismiss the people that you aren't going to keep especially early on that if high-stress do not invest in reducing their stress don't lock works into them if you're not going to keep them just dismiss them moving on to number three load and learn your curios and learn how to interact with them to maximize your gold a lot of people will simply maximize the loot table like for example using the key in the heirloom chest that's not the best way to maximize your loot or your goal that's the best way to maximize the loot table so really learn those and learn intricacies and the ins and outs of them so that you're able to maximize your gold versus just maximizing the loot table hopefully that makes sense number two save your gold but we've already kind of talked about a few strategies but the best way to do it is to save and really that by being able to save gold I mean I didn't get to a million gold because I went out and spent on everybody I had a really good varsity team or a team or whatever you want to call it that I ran through the dungeons and I really began to learn towards the end of dungeons the best way to save gold is really by camping as far into the dungeon as you can save a camp space until the very end you know your last room after you clear the dungeon then camp if you don't need the buffs and you have a pretty good trinket selection that's a great way to save money but don't just go out and be a spendthrift and the only way to know that is you only want to invest in people you're going to keep that are part of your 18 heals your stress selectively rather than healing everybody Park a few people for a few weeks save your gold and the last one and what I feel is the number one way to save or maintain gold or grow your gold is to provision correctly so when you look at provisioning I have you know I have a spreadsheet that I utilize but try and be tight with your money the risk reward with provisioning with over-provisioning is that you're probably going to get through the dungeon safe when you have bad RNG for under provisioning the big risk you run into is that you aren't able to complete the dungeon because you run out of food more commonly you'll run out of food you'll forget shovels or you don't have enough shovels and those are really the two biggest that you run into not often are you going to bleed to death or any median a venom to you know repair your blight to death but more often than not it's you didn't bring enough torches you didn't bring enough food or you didn't bring enough shovels the chart I have is really accurate on shovels that you guys can find on my strategy guide the food is is really dependent upon do I risk taking less food in the hopes that I'll get good RNG which doesn't often happen do you take more food knowing that you might have bad rng do you throw a dart in the middle and hope that it goes well and abandon your dungeon which might mean that you'll take more stress because you're going to abandon that dungeon but you will be able to maintain all that gold so do you park that party so provisioning correctly is really the best way to make gold and that's by knowing your curios knowing what you're going to face you can see it on my strategy guide which I'll link in the description below but that's probably the number one tip and I know that's not mind blowing or earth-shattering by any means but it's something I feel that that really really would help you all another thing when it comes to saving just before I kind of close this out running short dungeons it can be catastrophic for your stress it can also be catastrophic for deaths short dungeons are the least forgiving and sometimes the hardest on RNG so unless you're going to dump somebody I would recommend staying away from the shorter dungeons that's something that can really really be brutal early on so those are my top 15 ways I feel the best ways to make and save your gold hopefully that was helpful to you guys if it was let me know in the comments below or if you guys have any other strategies you feel that would help throw them in the comments below something I may have missed so thanks for watching guys see in the next video
