Couple of things to say about this run:

  • There are clear places for slight improvement, most notably the Kalameet and 4 Kings RNG, however, grinding them out along with all the other big luck based portions of the run would be pretty insane at this point

  • Basically every enemy in a Dark Souls speedrun presents a small part of the overall RNG, from obvious time losses on bosses to tiny losses due to not being able to take optimal paths when navigating the world

  • This run comes after about 9 months of grinding this category, I initially picked it up for Break The Record, but decided to try and push it to its limits, which I almost managed to reach

  • I am very happy with my performance as my biggest individual mistake cost me about 2-3s

  • When I picked up this run, the WR stood at 1:03:50, so you can see we have come a long way without any new strategies being added, just the runners' and the game's limit got pushed

this is the world record speed run for dark souls all bosses it will include post commentary to both entertain and mainly educate about the inner workings of the run if you'd prefer to watch the raw recording of the run there's a link to it in the video description below this run is performed on the remastered version of the game which is important as there are big differences between the original and remastered releases that's they make for two separate leaderboards the goal of this run is to slay all 26 bosses the game has to offer dlc naturally being included as it has 4 pulses in itself throughout the run you might notice the timer on the right pausing this is done automatically and it is because we use the in-game timer to time the speed runs such timing method provides the fairest competition as it minimizes the discrepancies between different machines and platforms utilizing the save and quit mechanic is allowed as long as we return back to the game immediately on the same character before you ask why the game is in japanese it is because returning to the game after a saving quit is about one second faster on this version compared to the others however since the in-game timer is used it has no effect on the final time of the run itself it simply increases my efficiency for the route of this speed run both the starting class and the starting gift are important we begin as thief with black firebombs this is so that we can carry both the master key and bombs at the same time from the beginning the key will be used several times throughout the run and the bombs are a vital part of it as well as you will see the first minor glitch in this run is breaking the wall at oscar without using the boulder the chosen undead stand up animation has destructive properties in case they got stuck somewhere before quitting out utilizing the save and quit while standing right next to the wall makes it break after returning to the game you will see this glitch being used one more time in sense fortress right after talking to oscar we will use the dark sign to return back to our last bonfire which has been set to the second one in asylum instead of the first this is because we managed to kill asylum demon and run through the cage door before the victory achieved screen appeared so we obtain the bonfire automatically without having to rest at it throughout the entire run you will see me toggling my right hand weapon this is because toggling at the start of a sprint animation allows us to start sprinting a little bit earlier it is not a big time save but throughout the entire run it adds up to about 2 or 3 seconds if you see some early game bosses being skipped don't worry we will come back for them later as coming back to kill them with better gear is faster than slaying them early my ultimate goal has been to get under 1 hour 1 minute and 50 seconds this run is run number 3632 i really hope you enjoy it i mean i don't think that's gonna be the case but customers are the ones benefiting if there's competition so because sorceries will be utilized as the primary damage source for most of the run it is of utmost importance to three griggs from lower undead brick although we possess the master key the master key does not actually open his door instead we need to obtain the residence key from the undead merchant you can do so by purchasing it from him for 1000 souls or killing him where he drops it right into your inventory this is what we will do here right after that one of lower under burke skips is being performed this one utilizes the fact that we can quit out while reaching the railing making sure our position is stored on top of it before dropping down further to the lower andedberg pp customization the [ __ ] what is up with you today you kinky bastard i don't know i don't think it's too large but i'm i'm gonna say that the controller on the steam deck didn't really look too uh comfortable to use and i think to me you know switch mostly well i don't i don't want to say mostly because i have no data to back this up but to me it it just mostly seems like a console for kids or concert for parents right that just you can easily pick it up you can easily put it down and i think the simplicity of a console is gonna be lacking from the steam deck even though they're obviously trying to like simplify it but i just don't think it's gonna be the same kind of experience no tanatops yeah i won't if it teleports you to the start of the game then you are too slow to get past taurus uh sorry asylum demon you need to basically get past the cage before you get a victory achieve screen on asylum demon so yeah kill him like i do the fastest way to get past this bridge is just to run directly under the hell guy drake however his patents are pure rng some of them will let us straight through some of them will cause a time loss and some of them will cause a straight up reset because he burns us to a crisp i got the most optimal pattern in this run and while we're under him we will also pick up the 1000 soul yeah yeah exactly like that's the biggest issue with the switch is that like yeah it's a handheld and everything cool oh i don't have the uh i messed up the menuing oh that's fine a little bit annoying but it's fine but it cannot really run the triple a stuff right and this thing looks to be uh packing decent power so don't think it's gonna flop as badly as their first attempt to make a a steam pc whatever it was [ __ ] called right before entering the gargoyle's boss fight we will chug a precisely aimed fire bomb this fire bomb will explode just as the fight begins the fire bomb will stagger two of the three openers of this boss by cutting its tail allowing for the fight to be faster and more consistent unfortunately in this run we get the third instant fly up opener where the tail doesn't get cut by the fire bomb however the gargoyle still takes damage so it's not so bad that seems to be a pretty big pretty big theme in elden ring the red and gray hair you will notice we use the dark sign right after finishing the boss fight and skip the bell this is because of two skips that allow us to do so the sensegate skip and also the golden full gateskip in anor londo i will explain both of them in more detail later and also elaborate on the routing that allows us to do this right now the goal is to obtain the red tearstone ring which is going to be a huge damage boost whenever we are under 20 health but before that while riding the new london runes elevator we'll for one of the most important glitches exclusive to the remastered version of dark souls the quantity usage by using a glitch called prom swap we are able to open two menus at the same time here it is the inventory menu and the brightness menu by overlapping the prompt to reset brightness to its default settings over the use item prompt when using a consumable a previously stored quantity may now be input into this problem and as such it allows us to use a soul we possess only once 99 times this time the quantity was stored by simply going through a loading screen where the game sets the internal value to zero allowing for up to 99 to be selected you will see this glitch utilized two more times in the run one of which will use an even higher quality i think as was pointed out they're not really targeting the same kind of market yeah i mean remastered on switch is just kind of crap i mean the fact that you have to run it at 30 frames already shows you that the switch just doesn't pack too much power if it's successful more games will become fully compatible with linux i mean as a microsoft you know windows user my entire life that really isn't something i'm concerned with but again like more competition technically means benefits for the customers potentially so yeah hey what's up sermo how's it going can this category still save another 10 seconds yes so 10 seconds would be pretty nice it was 6 13 down that it was actually pretty awful cargo time what the hell hey what's up gizzy i mean this is my first attempt so far i mean not bad i've been doing the times for like 30 minutes now about you how's it going hey cup maro how you doing dude what's up hello cheetahs hello tom what's up dude may this be a new world record run but we'll see i mean it's gonna be a pretty bad start if i get a slow holo right now the upcoming sequence break is called the sensegate skip it abuses the state of the game called the deathcam the deathcam is regularly activated by falling off of a platform to our death it is supposed to provide a more cinematic feeling but also stops everything in the game from loading or being deloaded this is because the developers expected us to die and wanted to save resources and also prevent weird loading occurrences when traveling vertically however in this particular case the trigger for the death cam and the kill box which reduces the chosen undead's hellfire to zero do not overlap completely and by baiting a hollow and then performing a parry and riposte we can put our character through the wall and if positioned correctly hit only the death cam plane on top assets to areas are loaded later than the areas themselves in order to save computing power and it just so happens that at this particular place where the death cam is activated the beginning of sen's fortress is already loaded in while its gate is not allowing us to simply enter it and then return the game to its normal state by performing a save and quit what's up annuals how you doing dude what's going on the buy phone just to work in the home office though it is so hot sorry to hear that you're dealing with the heat hopefully the fan can help out at least a little bit but when the when the air is too hot it doesn't really work that well yeah 30 degrees quite a bit that was a fast hollow to follow me but slow holo in terms of giving me an attack yeah i did see it that's why i'm saying that you're a kinky bastard internet hero we need to free logan in order to progress his quest line and obtain stronger sorceries for the run he is trapped behind this breakable wall the same glitch from the asylum can be utilized to break it but simply walking up to it and quitting out is not possible as the ground next to it has an unstable property this means it would not store our position instead we will drop on a cage right next to it and then jump directly towards the wall getting past the unstable ground and being able to break it standing up right next to it instead of 7 20 60 yeah that's another thing like i feel like more consoles should do what the demon source remake has done but you can basically select like a higher quality mode with less frame rate a lower quality mode with more frame rate the issue is that they don't really want to do that on consoles because you know plug and play haha then grab certificate and molecular biology but it's a pathway to get to my masses ah okay i see well as a fellow host grads now myself i wish you best of luck with a knife yeah i need 400 damage it's probably pretty hard to get 400 damage really quickly on iron golem mean i wouldn't know mike i mean there are not that many titles with exclusivity to the ps5 dealing 400 damage below iron golem's knees makes him stagger further 200 damage to the same place will make him fall on his butt with a proper setup we can angle iron golem so that he falls off the bridge completely making the fight very quick yeah well i mean midair it just kind of makes sense i mean if if one cartridge allows you to if one cartridge allows you to execute whatever code you want then it makes sense that you can use it to abuse and explain in another game or warp into credits hey what's up even though obviously it took a long time to find hey show up thank you so much for three months welcome back to the reset city family enjoy the new silver bash next to your name how's it going what's going on dude there are two important things to note here first notice we don't take the analon the bonfire but we will still need it later keep that in mind for after the onstand and smo fight second instead of taking the elevator we will perform a glitch called the fall control quit out fall control is a spell that normally prevents any non-lethal fall damage from occurring but on lethal i mean damage that wouldn't kill the chosen undead from their full health bar when hitting the ground after a long fall normally the health bar is reduced to zero immediately but full control uses a different splatter animation simply puts the damage being dealt to our character is delayed allowing for the game to store our position on the bottom of the fall and for a save and quit to be performed before the damage is dealt this allows us to effectively survive any fall in the game although there are different methods of surviving fall damage as you will see the next upcoming sequence break is a little bit more complicated to explain as there are two glitches being combined first we will perform the so-called air rolls or maybe meme rolls as you might have heard them called what's within a specific weight load interval in the remastered version that is between 25 and 29 weight load it is possible to continuously chain rolls mid-air the roll's invincibility frames can then be abused to avoid fall damage if timed correctly this glitch will be used to survive the initial fall the sequence break itself is called the silver knight archer skip and it allows us to bypass the shortcut door leading to the giant blacksmith the skip is not only faster than running around the cathedral but it also allows us to purchase 999 arrows from the merchant it is yet another deathcam skip but this one works differently than the one for sen's fortress instead of there being two different planes that are separated there is only one but it is programmed to activate the death cam and then kill the chosen undead upon landing on flat ground however this death can be prevented as long as the fall control spell is active you will see a blue trail following the chosen undead as the game is trying to kill us every single frame the lingering dragon crest ring must also be equipped as it extends full control's duration otherwise it would run out too soon i'll read lord of the rings i see it's not something that i would have read myself ever actually though i did i did read narnia which you know lewis and tolkien were friends and lewis finished his seven books before tolkien finishes three and it makes sense because lord of the rings is a lot better than darnia why not just pulls the timer yes i mean that's the only way to go fast mita that's the only way to go fast coming up is the ornstein and smoke boss fight it is one of the biggest run killers of the run because of the varied rng on ornstein during phase 1 but even phase 2 with smo alone can be problematic this encounter might be the most skill intense with sorceries throughout the entire run as there are several scenarios where manual aiming and other skills might need to be utilized kind of pulled him weirdly there behind the pillar at the beginning of the second phase i managed to miss the first great heavy solar on smoke losing about two or three seconds in the moment i wasn't very happy about it but in the end it turned out to be the biggest mistake of the entire run i still [ __ ] it up hmm well let's see what this is what was the golden time 34 yeah i'll continue with this it's fine but like shooting gwenevere here is normally faster than going through her dialogue but remember how we never took the allen wonder bonfire once underwander goes dark and we die in it it sets our last bonfire as the analon the bonfire by default this way we have it available for later when we go to seath and also to clear the rest of the analonda bosses while still enjoying the time save of not having to rest at it when we entered annalando initially at least got to do first try well magic is the fastest route in all bosses yes every other category besides all achievements i'll use the blackened halberd here we purchase the homing soulmas and soul sphere two very important spells for the entirety of the run after doing so it is important to exhaust logan's dialogue so that his quest line may progress once firing shrine is reloaded fully he will have left but greeks will possess another soul spear for us to purchase this is very important as there is no mana in this game and the spells are limited by an absolute number of casts without enough soul spears we would run out of spells during most of the boss fights especially in the dlc the fastest way to reload firelink is to go and kill straight demon we don't use the newly acquired spells as a tuning them would be about two seconds slower than just using the great heavy soul arrow is it moose swapping i know i haven't read the witcher the only witcher stuff that i've consumed is the series and the games yeah the lord of the rings movies are fantastic i'm sure the the books are also worth it but i just not a huge fan of reading fiction like if i'm reading and i do like reading don't get me wrong but i i prefer leading reading like literature a fact rather i haven't read anything from him either anatopsia ever see i mean the series wasn't very good if i'm being honest but the games are great that's a good split it also glitches out stratum and mustafa which is like a bonus like he turns around first and attacks backwards so i can start by shooting immediately when entering the fight yeah that's right camaro that's that's that's right i guess i was talking about the witcher it is for rtsr indeed like yeah technically it would be faster to get the hollows to help you with the setup but that's not consistent at all and like i said once you actually do that strat you have to get lucky and end up with a melee opener on straight so you can attack immediately if you don't you're going to have to wait out the aoe so you don't really save time that way what's up coming good thank you so much for it delivered a week later then they have a 30 minute 30 day time period where they can do stuff with it and then they just sent me my money back on the 30th day yeah being able to like read up on individual stories is always good if you don't have too much time at once to dedicate to things because you might be forgetting things between you know books from the same series from within the same series and also if there's something you don't enjoy you can just skip it hey kazur how are you doing what's up well mustafa no one's going to be grinding perfect rng for it i had to cut a lot of content yeah the series i mean it's not just the fact that they had to cut a lot of content from the books but the couple of books that it's based on season one basically has more geralt than like any other part of the series and i feel like he just kind of got overshadowed like there wasn't enough geralt in the first season and obviously the chaotic timeline was also awful that's why they ditched it for season two coming out december 17th like i still watch it but i barely watch anything but i'll definitely watch the witcher season 2 when it comes out because i just liked the setting a lot and while the first season wasn't great it was fine after freeing dusk in order to gain access to the dlc we will now also proceed to summon her on the other side of the lake this is not just for the hidden body that we will buy but primarily for making her set spawned by the dlc entrance part of the set is the crown of dusk which boosts the damage of sorceries by 20 and it is of highest importance for our build if you don't get the hammer what will be used there well nothing because you always get the hammer and prepare to die edition routes you might use the heavy weapon that you picked up like the dragon tooth or black knight greatsword or technically 99 packs yes well you would have to figure out a different rtsr setup i mean it's true like yasukiya was the best part of the netflix series pretty much him and geralt's were really good together so i hope there's gonna be enough of him in season season two as well because in the teaser trailer there really wasn't a lot of him he had like one scene of course you can understand the chaotic timeline better if you've read the books but i mean clearly people haven't people haven't even played the games right like after netflix series came out on steam the witcher 3 saw its biggest peak ever so what i'm trying to say is that it wasn't a good plan to bank on the fact that people know the books because they don't if it wasn't worth it then i wouldn't get it what kind of a question is that imagine playing video games nerds the boost is 20 then without it it would literally be impossible to finish the dlc what's up first the following sequence break works precisely the same way as the silver knight archer skip we performed earlier the golden 4 gate skip as it is called does precisely what it sounds like it allows us to skip past the golden 4 gate leading to duke's archives performing the skip itself is naturally slower than just walking into the duke's archives but this is where the bigger picture comes into play there are several bonfires in dark souls that are unwarpable and the garden bonfire we took earlier is one of them that means we want to keep it for as long as possible before everything in the garden is done that will be killing hydra and butterfly which we had already accomplished and also killing sif and then heading to the dlc however in order to access the dlc one must first go to the duke's archives to obtain the broken pendant without this skip we would need to dissipate the golden 4 gate which could be done by either ringing both the bells of awakening and then placing the lord vessel or by killing sif and 4 kings and placing the lord vessel the issue is that at the end of the run we still need to return back to the filing alta taking the abyss bonfire is an option but that would mean we would lose the one in darkroot garden instead and have to run all the way back from undead parish ringing the bells would require us to do those ties left early which is a lot slower than coming back there with dark beat in the late game if you could kill 4 kings without killing sif there would be no issue with taking the abyss bonfire but since we need to go to the dark root garden first and take the bonfire there it is not a viable option thanks to this skip however we can now postpone killing 4 kings all the way until after the dlc when we don't need the dark regard and bonfire anymore and then just proceed to take the abyss bonfire and use it at the very end of the run to access falling alta one final time so to summarize the golden for gates keep being performed loses time on its own but it allows us to skip both the bells of awakening and thus overall saving time because especially the gargoyle bell takes a long time to ring kill many runs hey what's up i see well i don't know it's the first run so we'll see about that i mean there isn't much toward luck anymore the only luck i need is for the internet connection to not go out but there's pretty good weather so it should be all good bye you man how's it going hello kravando good to see you how's it going going good for me so far right now we will perform the duke up warp the way this works is relatively simple the elevator's default position is on the bottom we send it up and then quit out the way assets load in this game can be a little bit peculiar and what actually happens is that the elevator loads in its default position on the bottom and as the game loads in moves to the top immediately if we store our last position right next to the elevator we can have it take us with it if our position is stored in the correct precise spot we can end up out of bounds and jump on top of the elevator allowing us to access the strong magic shields via a full control quito very quickly the strong magic shield will be utilized in the dlc to do the so-called gothless calamites which i will explain later are you in a pb pace yes so you're fighting him five times that's uh yeah it's a that's a good sample rate good sample size rather i can conclude off of those five attempts that's perfect rng is basically impossible i'm from the czech republic uh well i do actually have a visual cue but you can react as well i prefer not to react because reacting is a little bit slower like you can quit out earlier and save extra frames but you can see how the character is like moving from beneath the quit out prompt so yeah hey blondie gaming how's it going what's up like basically with sif and seath going to see first makes some menuing later a little bit easier so i don't have to worry about equipping stuff here instead of just unequipping it but yeah it virtually doesn't matter uh proud of my world records i mean not really maybe proud of some of the improvements i've made over the years but being proud of world records is like speedrunners generally don't have that unless it's like a really really good run and thanks for the 33 pitty beauties richard what's going on apparently due to some issues with the trains in this area all the way in romania there are delays so yeah well there you see our perfect rng for the first time i have watched what's happening in ds2 yes but uh more so because i'm interested in whether they decide to allow the 20 fps toggling or whatnot not really for wanting to run the game myself hey bonto i'm doing pretty good how about you what's up dude yeah exclamation mark toggle blondie um the bot told you basically what it does allows me to start sprinting a little bit sooner for sanctuary guardian staying on the left side of the arena right next to the wall considerably limits his moveset allowing us to rely on less luck most of his fights will end up being pretty swift however just like any other boss in this run if we get very very unlucky in this particular case with his lightning attacks the run can end right then and there if you don't know what's happening with ds2 essentially they discovered that if you lock your fps to 20 there's like a pretty massive skip that can be done because collision changes and now there's a pretty big debate of what to do with it whether to allow it or disallow it or because you know you're like limiting your frame rate through an outside source so that's a little bit uh can be a little bit finicky or whether to like split categories you know where one category allows it the other one doesn't so yeah there's still a pending decision there yeah it does change more than just the collision that's the thing because it also changes for example how often like poison ticks and stuff like that so there can be even changes in how much damage you take and whatnot so i don't really see it uh like in my eyes i wouldn't just allow it everywhere like if i would probably also work for a category split probably makes more sense than to create a filter on the leaderboards but then again since i don't know ds2 you know i don't get a vote or anything it's just how i would look at it from the outside because you have to look into the future as well like what could happen with 20 fps yeah tk but baby jump mod is basically making a broken mechanic work as intended so like you always have to balance out purity but also fun and accessibility and the baby jumbo just makes sense to exist hey sir schumer what's up dude thank you for the luck i'm doing pretty alright how about you man with artorias both melee and jump are good openers we got a little bit unlucky this fight as one of the homing zomas projectiles left us at the beginning of the fight and didn't connect all of the orbs need to hit artorias in order to have the optimal fight this caused us having to use one more soul spear than would be necessary oh well at least i got all the hits afterwards but yeah bloody homing strat this means we will be fighting calamite while he is mid-air without completing the goth's side quest and having him shot down on the ground the fight itself is slower than just finding him regularly head-on but skipping the questline overall saves time performing this strategy itself is not a big problem with enough practice it requires positioning the character in particular locations to avoid damage and also to be able to reliably damage kalameet as he's performing his cycles speaking of cycles this is where the issue arises calamine has three or four different cycles that he can perform each one differing in the amount of time it loses the difference between the best and the worst rng can be almost 15 seconds which is huge for a run as optimized as this i was running against splits with the perfect rng so i was sure to only lose time here definitely not gain the record ended up getting about average luck losing around 7 or 8 seconds which doesn't sound like much but it ended up constituting the biggest single time loss of this entire run showing how much calamite rng really plays a role it can definitely sometimes be a slippery slope yeah not with no baby jump bot but with the 20 fps stuff for sure because like i said you never know what's going to pop up in the future and you don't want to be like arbitrarily changing the leaderboards all the time ah i'm pretty sure this was the long one what's up job how's it going dude well you can manipulate soul mass a little bit but not an artorias properly like you can change it by facing differently and whatnot or that's how it's supposed to work but artorias it's stupid and it doesn't work properly ah i mean nothing greater but i mean we can get the sub 50 with this so let's do our best i mean i am running against the best calamite rng after all so time loss should be expected there under most circumstances yeah i guess it was the mid length i think so which is pretty rare actually like usually it just finishes his animation and then dies and if i tie my bone out properly then that's all that matters like you don't actually if you kill him this way you never get the proper victory achieve skiing or absolutely nothing to straight up killing the run what we hope for is to get an overhead attack after rolling it and putting the boss to below 60 health we hope that he will give us the circle aoe attack that can then be strafed and manas can be killed without having to deal with any other patterns ah four gates kept sucked but that was a good manners at least ah can run a little bit quicker enemies can be damaged even after they're killed normally damaging their enemies doesn't accomplish anything but the difference with four kings is that they have two health bars one cumulative common for all the four kings and then each king also has his own individual health bar what we try to do is set up the first king so that his individual health bar is very low just before he is being killed and then launching a barrage of dark beat casts hopefully dealing enough damage to the cumulative health bar after the first king's death so that we can finish the fight in just one cycle the problem with this strategy on the remastered version of the game is that the kings die a little bit faster so it requires very precise positioning standing too far will make dark beat miss as it is projectile based standing too close however means that there was not enough travel time on the projectiles and the last hit of dark beat will not be able to connect with the dying king there are two openers that lead to an insta kill which we would consider good rng then there are several others which will lose time unfortunately much like with kalameet we didn't get very lucky and ended up with a below average fight making up pretty much the second biggest towers of the run well i'm proud to say that i had a better four kings fights in my invisible map run than in this run which shouldn't surprise you though because of course you're gonna get good rng on a run but it doesn't matter well ds fix the thing is dsfix and its frame unlocking feature is completely disallowed in ds1 what's up rob thank you for the luck i appreciate it the entire late game is absolutely trash in this run in the pb i also uh kind of messed up there in the menu but it's fine yeah poo poking is pretty awesome that is definitely true and yeah when it comes to i don't know if you're trolling there barry or not but i mean that's very much not the same thing i don't know why toggle there because then you get to the territory where like you know what if someone has just a like terrible pc and they can run on stable 20 fps what happens then you know it's all very nuanced and i only brought up this conversation because i find it interesting just like when you know wolf clip was discovered i thought the split in bloodborne categories was too early without people doing more investigating but in the end it turned out to be the correct decision and i think these two guys are taking the right approach here they've gathering data about 20 fps they're messing around with things and they're having a vote and they had a discussion and it just makes perfect sense what they're doing and i respect it and i don't think me or you as outsiders can really have a better opinion on it than they can also speaking of bloodborne cookie found a new skip he found a way to get like the blood pellets without having to run towards them essentially because i don't know exactly how the level works there but you can like drop on sandbags which will not store your position so you drop on unstable ground you pick up the pallets you quit out and you're back upstairs which is pretty pretty dope don't know how good or bad the skip itself is but new skips are always cool gwyndolin is the second to last big rng portion of the run the homing zomas attack is the only one that would stop us from approaching him because we'd have to wait it out hiding behind the pillar both the big orb and the arrows however are good attacks allowing us to approach and also kill gwyndolin once we are close enough even the homing zomas would be fine my early game is real bad compared to my late game well maybe late game in resident evil 7 is just more difficult like i don't know you probably reset a lot more in the early game because you have a higher standard for the early game since it's like right at the start of the run so you think oh i'm not losing that much if i actually reset that's good could be that yeah okay i see barry i can definitely see how using any third-party tool during the run can be controversial but like i said you always need to balance out like accessibility and fun along with purity hey vagabrothers i have played bloodborne but i haven't finished it so i have my ps4 in prague along with my capture card so it's something that i'll get back to when i return to prague in october the following skip abuses remastered's weird collision when it comes to ladders it allows us to very conveniently and quickly enter the copper demon arena because we enter it from out of bounds and don't go through the fog wall we never actually touch the trigger which would activate kapra's ai making this fight a swift encounter as the fight is done we will quit out which will send us back up to the out of bounds section because at that point the game still doesn't consider capra's arena as stable although the boss has already been killed getting hit by a dog here would mean having to heal up later losing about 3 seconds fortunately for the record that didn't happen after capra we will continue the out of bounds section skipping past the depths going all the way to the gaping dragons arena however because the chosen undead is not very good at climbing anything in the s1 this precise jump on the railing needs to be performed we use a keyboard setup to make it consistent it loses almost two seconds but it is absolutely worth it than just trying to throw yourself at the railing and failing repeatedly funnily enough in prepare to die edition this jump is way easier than in the remastered version it's actually been over two years now which is kind of insane because it was early 2019 before my exams i lost quite a bit of time there actually how much time did i lose i lost 2.2 so i lost like half a second okay that's not bad because that's you know the gold is without the the setup on defense jump on the four gate skip so i could have burned out a little bit earlier would have saved like half a second but that's not a big deal i guess better than boning out too early menses yeah i have played sec you know and i won't play it again oh hey rico you got your favorite line inning shadows is where the mid game starts that make sense you cannot really objectively judge the difficulty of those games subjectively you might feel like it's harder and that's completely fine yes game grey's out the new game option yes i really enjoyed sekiro when i did my first playthrough but like i said i wouldn't play it again i think it's a really good game for what it's set out to do but i had my problems with it but on the whole it was still a very enjoyable experience like i played it for about 40 hours and i enjoyed pretty much all of it besides farming some confetti in the dojo because i was just so set out and killing one of the early head lessons it was like on the low level it was basically impossible without the confetti neon ng6 and it's fair i actually also wanted to get the vonto i also wanted to get the other endings because you know you you just in these games you save a lot of time by just knowing where to go but then i was like [Music] and i just watched the endings on youtube and that was that nito is more or less the last boss that is not fully under our control usually the fight will be very swift and smooth but if he decides to do scream attack we might have to dodge it before killing him the issue would be multiple screams in a row which could result in the fight losing 10 or even more seconds it is once again a perfect example of how in eighty percent of cases the fight might go okay but in the remaining twenty the run could easily die my first playthrough security was the least enjoyable got better more times he played it well for me it was also the least enjoyable and the most [ __ ] gold by the way i don't know i think if you really like if you if you feel like replaying secular you just need to really enjoy the combat and whatnot right because they're you know and there was supposed to be like rpg elements and whatnot and yeah to me it wasn't that amazing what's up jill how you doing good to see you as well hope you're doing well there are issues with getting hit in that manner in like all forms of games to a degree i don't know i don't remember everything exactly any more of itsekiro i mean i played it when it came out and i like i said i haven't touched it since yeah i haven't i haven't played with the uh with the boss rushmore the complete uh update so for a game like that you know such a mode actually makes perfect sense because after all it is all about the bosses like every single enemy in that game is basically a boss or mini boss and the fact there was a free update was pretty cool as well well the problem is like i did get a four roll but i had to dodge the uh like the five rule isn't even that bad because it gets you a little bit further forwards the problem was that i had to dodge one of the ogres so i'm still gonna lose time here most likely i don't know i don't know if i agree with every single game having a bulls rush mode but i guess like they did shift the balance of focus primarily on the bosses since ds2 so i guess it sort of makes sense but the thing is with secure it just makes more sense because you know you don't really have like different weapons and [ __ ] that you can use well in these games you know there are rpg elements in that regard well the s2 went through a lot of developmental changes saturn frenzy there were a lot of concepts that got cast cut last minute and a lot of concepts that were changed and it kind of became a hot mess when it comes to its world uh is there any leveling insecure there is i there is yeah you're like leveling uh not stats but you're like leveling the character still i haven't played the ghost of sushi mano it came out while i've been here so i don't have my ps4 here and by here i mean my grandma's place while my ps4 is in my apartment in prague though when sekiro and tsushima were revealed they were revealed at the same e3 i actually was more impressed by tsushima by the initial look anyway but the problem with tsushima from what i have gathered is that like eventually you just become an ob god and nothing is too much of a challenge like you just out level the enemies you're way too strong i'm gonna roll that just to make sure i probably didn't have to though like in every rpg i mean you know from soft games are different in that regard i mean of course you will destroy plebs i mean i say that as i'm running around here two shooting bosses i guess that's kind of hypocritical but uh in from fromsoft games i don't really feel like you get to the same point like you definitely want some scaling you don't want to you know spend 50 hours on the game and then like get one shot by the first enemies that you meet in the game like you want to have some sense of progression otherwise like what's even the point of leveling your character in the first place yeah on the remaster you cannot do far stage elevator clip which is pretty annoying because running the fire stage is a pretty boring part of the run and fire stage elevator clip is cool as heck but unfortunately no blight down skip and no farsight you have a clip in this run but i mean you got some other cool stuff like the copper out of bounds into gaping out of bounds even though btd also has gaping out of bounds but you don't do the copra part hey what's up bloop how you doing hello ike thanks for the luck what's going on dude i don't know for me for example ds3s and i haven't played the s2 so i cannot compare it to ds3 but like between the s1 and ds3 i have a clear favorite and you can probably tell which one it is a25 gold thanks for the host what's up so nervous with elven ring yeah elden ring will be fine i mean worst case scenario with a from soft game you're gonna end up getting a game that you're just gonna really enjoy once and then maybe put it away like me with sekiro but i kinda highly doubt that's gonna be the case i think eldon ring will be pretty hecking good and i'm pretty excited for it all right my ptsd is about to get triggered my dudes for the upcoming bed of chaos boss fight a notoriously known firebomb strategy is utilized it is called talky bombs after the japanese runner who discovered it this is a pretty nifty strat and saves us a lot of nerves however i'm quite well known for actually messing it up on world record paced runs it's usually only happened on runs that were not that good in the first place i've never missed the far bomb throw on a run that i would consider really really good that being said i must have thrown at least 10 pbs to this particular strategy over the course of the past three years luckily for me remastered allows for the mouse and keyboard to be used for this throw and aiming it with the mouse is a lot easier than with the controller all right not quite three and a for three hours and 45 minutes good bone out as well so now i just need the rtsr setup now i need the rtsr setup actually i don't even need it technically very well but yeah quite a bit easier when you can see the ground not gonna lie and i got the uh i got the uh strat where i saved that one roll almost there my dudes this run coming out of nowhere with 6 13 guards 1710 ons decent mid game average calamite bad for kings oh i didn't equip the rtsr i need to do that on the fog wall the goomba stomp almost there my dudes almost there i want to die to this guy and then we are one perry away i didn't die to this guy so now we are one perry away one perry away go faster dude i want this to be over the sooner the better we've done it 3632 attempts dude let's go yes get in there dude i saved just three and a half seconds but you have no idea how happy i am this is done whoa oh my god dude out of nowhere what a f what the [ __ ] what a mediocre run and then just late game just goes well while there are two big timelesses in this run those being kalameet and four kings i could not be happier with my execution sure i've made minor mistakes here and there but grinding to a perfection in a run that is already as optimized and as luck dependent as this one would be borderline insanity this speedrun was the culmination of nine months of hard work efforts dedication practice and small optimizations i couldn't have done it without the support of my community and without the guys at speed souls finally dark souls remastered all bosses can be laid to rest that is until something new is discovered which with how amazing this game is and how many secrets they are still hiding i'm sure is bound to happen soon i hope you enjoyed the run if you made it this far
