Daniel Craig on His Last Bond Film, Watching it with the Royal Family & Star on the Walk of Fame

first kiss tonight is one heck of an actor who after 15 years and her majesty service punches his license to kill card for the very last time his double-oh-seven swan song is no time to die it opens only in theaters friday please welcome daniel craig [Applause] [Music] wonderful wonderful wonderful to be back and congratulations besides on the on the movie which is great i saw it i enjoyed it thoroughly i want to congratulate you on a neighborhood honor that you're getting here which is a star on the hollywood walk of fame thank you yes is that meaningful to you as a brit i mean is that you understand that that's like the biggest thing we have here right there's other things it's it's massive i mean it's it's massive and it's weird and it's kind of strange i came here i don't know 1990 when i was like 20 years of age and it was one of the first places i visited i mean i came here you came right here to this area i did yeah what do you remember what were your impressions no one could talk about it really yeah it was there was a lot going on oh really it was not how i imagined it was going to be do you feel like there's more going on now it might be yeah yeah i think yourself yeah we've still got a lot going on yeah have you seen the location of your star yeah i know where it is yeah okay well i'll show everyone where it is yeah there we go it's right in front of the marshalls which is like that's um i'll i'll take what i can get that's this is like our buckingham palace i know this is kind of cool and i assume they did this intentionally your star is which is uh right there is right near uh roger moore's star there you go uh the james bond of uh my childhood and your childhood that's kind of cool yeah do you think you'll be named a sir do you think you will get a knighthood uh i it's not kind of up to me i know but you are you like kind of thinking about it no no no no i think no i'm not sure about those sort of things okay yeah i i mean it's very nice but i think there's lots of people who deserve them way more than i do i think that i don't know there's not a lot of people who are james bond and i know like sean sean connery has a a knight hood he does that's true and roger moore got like an obe or something like that and i think pierce brosnan got like the uh whatever they will give irish people there right yeah so i think you're a good in good you think and you're gonna have a word for me i will put in a word for you i don't know that anybody will be listening but um uh i know you guys had the premiere over in london last week yeah rami was here rami malek who was here he was here last night last night not great he was and he uh he actually told me that he approached william and kate and told them that he would babysit for them i i didn't know that yeah yeah that seems quite forward too it does does yeah did you know what the response was uh their response was confusion it sounded like yeah yeah like i was like what was he gonna charge an hour i don't know if he was even gonna charge oh really he was gonna do it kind of like as a favor he saw himself as their mary poppins i don't remember him being sort of muscled off anywhere at any point so maybe they made a deal i don't know did you he's very charming though so he probably worked around yeah i'd let him watch my kids for sure yeah did you although when you see the movie you might think about that twice oh yeah you see the movie um but um uh so he was seated next to them i think at the yeah we were all in the royal box uh oh uh like my daughter and carrie was sitting behind i was sat next to um camilla and charles and uh i don't know who was sat next to though they were down down here somewhere all sat you know we're all sat in a room watching the movie did they pay attention uh i think so i mean i'm quite occupied watching the audience you are yeah because i'm kind of nervous and i want to see what that was oh so you're so prince charles is sitting there and you're just kind of looking over at him but yeah that must have been i mean i kind of that must have been a relaxing experience for him yeah yeah bond keeps looking at me i want to check my texts what's going on here when am i going to be king already am i going to knight this guy it's like it's like you with that you um i'm sad that you're uh you're not gonna be bond again but i get it i understand you've had enough i have do you get to choose do you get any say in who the next bond is no none at all not my problem no nobody'll even run it by it no i i know i don't i don't know how to get involved with that would you have a problem with an american being the next james bond i i no why why would i have a problem with an american dream i can't imagine i i feel like you've got to put an issue here that i think needs to be sorted out me personally yeah yeah i do but you need to know something yeah because it's already happened what i i i'm a u.s citizen oh okay so it's already happened oh great so oh you're kind of you kind of you just need to you know you know you need to leave this well you take it all the way and denounce the queen go ahead here and here and now that's right which camera am i looking at no no i won't you won't all right well listen man until that happens because the way i see it look we got a a superman from england we got a batman from ireland we had we had like uh daniel day-lewis played abraham lincoln for god's sake do you think there's other problems that are bigger than this that you should be worried about i mean i can't think of any really right now listen this is how we get by we focus on nonsense and then we let all the horrible things just watch by until they bury us in the ground and we're dead i'm going to be buried out there on hollywood boulevard right next to your star near the marshall you know who else i'm next to who bugs bunny oh that's a good one that's a really good one right it's good bunny was that character you knew well growing up yes yes bugs bunny might be my favorite cartoon character it could be mine because you know what i love about bugs bunny yeah he's a dick yeah yeah yeah that's right just jumping on that carrot it is yeah and to everybody it's messing with everything the relatable dick we're gonna take break we come back we have a clip from the new movie it's called no time to die movies is i love well there's a few things i love about him but i think what i love the most is when i leave the theater i feel i have this feeling like i'm james bond yeah i know i'm not yeah you are yes so how do i feel when i leave this yeah how do you feel do you from like me no like yeah i feel like you could be weird um um i need to go to i i i feel like a drink that's what i feel like after i've seen myself in a james bond movie can i tell you a true story i know this sounds like it isn't but it is we went to go see the movie across the street at the movie theater and we were parked i was parked down in the bottom level and when i came up i i went up accidentally went up the wrong side it was the downside it was like you know monday night it was late whatever and this old man came out and started yelling at me and um and i thought the wrong side yeah because i was on the wrong side and i had to back up and he just kept yelling even though he's back i was like oh sorry whatever i'm backing up begging him he's yelling me yelling me on me i was like boy i'm really not james bond at all but what were you what would you have done i would have liked to get the car around like driven off and then maybe had a little joke to hit him with as i left like have fun in the parking lot old-timer broom and then i grabbed like a model off the street one of the other great things is uh we let me show this video because in every bond movie you do this the whites up here across the screen here we go and then you have to walk out and fire at camera at us really you shoot us your audience is that the greatest thing to do that i've never seen them all put together like that that's really nice thank you did you get better at it each time no i think i worse you got worse yeah genuinely look at the last one i'm glad we're stopping now i don't know where this is i'm starting to skip a bit that was like like they're getting a bit too light and i see why you're watching prince charles instead of the movie you're you're driving yourself insane is what you're doing yeah yeah yeah one other question i'm sorry i wanna i just to get one more in before because i promise next time you come here i don't wanna ask you about james bond stuff in there okay um when you're on set and i assume you know you have some people that are that remain from movie to movie but most of them are different people yeah um and you the first time you say bond james bond does everybody get really excited um yes and no i mean it's kind of those that have been there before i mean i i i'm so tied up with saying it yeah i can't really i don't see you yeah it's coming out of you but yeah i was standing there i'd be like he just said it yeah you know they might do they might do i don't know do you ever have fun with that like you ever think about going live try to do it a little have a bit of fun with it in this one yeah well yeah you did it you know yeah kind of way better i've always tried to kind of subvert it as a little bit i mean i feel like the weight of it is always so great on it and yeah the first time i say it in casino royale i mean there's a documentary we did and i talked about it i mean literally i couldn't say it i mean i was like hmm [Laughter] because suddenly the whole kind of like you know yeah 20 movies i haven't in the where cut is the weight is there and it comes out eventually and and i kind of always wanted like the the shaker not sterling one of one of the um great lines in casino royale is um you know the guy says i say vodka martini he says shaking what stern i said do i look like i give a damn and and and that was the reason i did the script because i was like that was it in the original script it was do i look like i give up and they couldn't have that oh right i know no when i was like when i read that i was like i'm in and that's what they tried to do with the kind of like you know to subvert them and so we never we messed around with it in this but i could never pierce had the same deal he talked about it and he used to practice in the mirror over and over again and i used to practice in the mirror thing i just i i couldn't believe i was james bond it just yes it's impossible of course you know yeah like uh okay good i'm glad you're having trouble with it too yeah yeah to this day well it's great to see you thanks for being here
